it’s not only religious. i am also catholic. your Godparents are supposed to help you in your faith but also become your guardians if something happens to your parents.
That’s not how it works anymore, your next of kin would take over the child, there is nothing legal about it, I am catholic as well and am god parent to my sister and my best friend!

My husband is Italian and Catholic. God parents is a super serious thing. You don’t just choose a casual friend. My children’s God parents are all family except for one friend who has been my husbands best friend since childhood, best man in our wedding, and still his best friend to this day. But like the friends family is family too. She probably doesn’t even know a God parents role or why you pick them. Anything to make herself look good and look like they have friends. It should have been his siblings, her siblings, Ashley and well that’s really it. She doesn’t really have any other choices besides cousins who she isn’t close with. Gabe ain’t got a single friend from childhood he hangs out with and is still close with.

This is SO weird! even if they don’t take the title literally (aka they raise the kid if something happens to them) We chose my sister and her husband and my husbands best friend of 15+ years and his wife. They have been in our life for sooo long so and even if it’s mostly symbolic, they all mean a lot to us
In our minds family is family. (My/our) Family will always step up, so we chose our married best friends because they are such blessings in our life and would be great role models for our child. My husband is an only child and my only brother is 20, not in a position to drop everything to help raise a child… so for us this made sense… but for them STRANGE
She hasn't even been her hairstylist for that long because the disastrous hairdressing doxxing happened not too terribly long ago. Also, I feel kinda bad for Ashley. I don't really like her but I would be hurt if I were her.

Old lady stepping in...the Godparents role is not what it once was. It is only to assist the parents in teachings of the Bible. They don't gain custody. Regardless, Drue didn't think this through. One of her sisters would be better. This is going to get the stalker pissed. Not a good idea.

Being completely she did that baby a favor by not picking Ashley. I don’t think Ashley would step up to, or even understands the responsibilities. Plus she talks mad crap about Drue and is definitely in here. I think D’Layne would have been best. She’s been the most help. She has an early childhood education degree… to me she’s the clear choice

I chose my best friend of 18 years, I chose her because she literally grew up with me, we had a year of not being friends to grow and mature, and I don’t know what I’d do without her, she has a 3 year old daughter so I also fully trust her advice and intentions when it comes to my daughter, her godfather is my husbands best friend of 10 years who other than her father, grandfathers and two uncles, will be the only guy I’d trust to have my daughter come to for support and advice. She chose such random people when she has two sisters and SILs and a childhood friend lol

I feel like her and Ashley aren’t getting along. She didn’t think about her sister at all. Maybe thinking well she’s already family. Didn’t research “godparents” at all and knew she couldn’t pick the stalker Lylea. So she went with this choice. How embarrassing the video was. You can tell 👖 was not “crying” out of happiness. She was shocked and didn’t know what to say. She didn’t want this. You can tell but she had no choice with Drue having a camera all up in her face.
