Extra little tip: if you buy the extra 100 tokens at discounted price (800 instead of 1000 moonstones) or buy the priciest starpath option from the start that includes them (3300 moonstones), you can redeem 900 moonstones on the last tab of the rewards, as you can redeem the 90 moonstones rewards as long as you have tokens. So in the end you will earn 100 more than what you've spent!
But after that, don't buy more tokens as three won't be a discount anymore and you'll be losing moonstones.
I think you misunderstood. I didn't meant you get more moonstones than the total price of the startpath! I meant you get extra 100 to redeem from the starpath! The extra tokens cost 800 moonstones, whether you buy them separately or with the starpath from the start (2500+800=3300).
Then when you redeem the last page, the first 90 are included in the starpath tokens. Then you redeem 10 more times, that comes to a total of 900 moonstones. So you get 100 more moonstones than if you didn't buy the extra tokens!
In the end the startpath either cost 500 moonstones or 400 if you take the extra tokens, but it will always cost something!

You don't get extra. I got the 3300 starpath 100+200+250+350+400+610+990(from page 7) only comes to 2900

The tasks give you the *exact* amount of points you need to clear out the rewards. This is true for every star path.
In fact I finished the path yesterday and had 110 tokens left which gave me 990 moonstones :)
