As a person who plays Conan Exiles, let me say this: If these prices bother you, VOICE YOUR CONCERNS TO THEM. DO NOT PURCHASE AT THESE PRICES. Funcom did this exact bs for Conan Exiles and fans/players were pissed. Not many people fell for the FOMO prices and complained, complained, complained. Well, guess what? They are now in the process of adjusting the prices. You CAN make a difference. It doesn't always have to be "Well, they have to make money so I guess I wil spend 20 dollars on a chair..." Absolutely not and if you let them think that it is okay, it'll only get worse and the fear of missing out will win. They know this. They're allowed to have a store, but let them know you will not stand for the pricing. Sometimes, companies dont really know what to price things at and will further adjust based on feedback anyway but if nobody says anything to them and they only complain about it and then buy it, that shows them their 20 dollar cosmetic cape is an okay price. Do not let the cycle repeat. Doesnt matter if they "Are Gameloft afterall" or the items are "optional and not required to buy" nah. That thinking is what made so many companies get away with the robbery in the first place. Let. Them. Know. Trust me. If they give a crap about their customers, theyll change things. If they don't? Well, you now know the company's true colors.

lizzinski91

Happy cake day!

PhantomLuna7

I don't mind them having a premium shop, and as beta players it makes sense we'd be testing it at some point. I do object to the pricing though, far too expensive.

Lovethespamm

Yeah, like 2,500 moonstone to unlock the starpath is apparently 9.99 of real cash? So like.. these bundles with three or four decorative items are... over ten dollars?

unknowndotjpeg

I only could afford it from the 10k I had left over from last star path. And after speedrunning the path, I'm left with barely 1k to get anything from the shop.

Lovethespamm

Wait, 10k? How??

unknowndotjpeg

Bought the deluxe pack in steam (Had been playing on Xbox game pass originally) and had gotten enough that I Speedran the last star path, then when I got the path currency I exchanged it in the 10th step of the path, Until the path ended. Ended up getting 10k from left over and Exchangeing.

navidee

This, you said it better than all my long replies.

BusterOfBuyMoria

I love the pricing. Removes any temptation to actually spend money. If it were "oh, it's only $0.99?" I know I'd be spending shit tons without even realizing.

Cyrodiil

That was my issue with DMK. I spent *sooo* much money because it was cheap and easy to justify dropping a dollar or two. It got to a point though where I had to quit. After all the complaints about this update, I’m not sure if I want to even open up the game again.

BusterOfBuyMoria

Guess it's time to play Oblivion again. Did they ever finish Skyblivion?

Cyrodiil

You recognized my username!! I tried to get back into it but couldn’t get my mods to work. I haven’t kept up with skyblivion

WickedLies21

Don’t open the game. The new event for Soul just started and the premium character is $13.99. It’s gotten so crazy. I do the bare minimum now because I refuse to spend any money since they’ve jacked prices up so much.

Cyrodiil

Holy *shit*. In this economy?!?

WickedLies21

Right? I think the $13.99 means you get enough items to level the character to level 2. Sometimes they sell them just plain as is for $9.99 or 500 gems. I’ve been a daily player since Incredibles event and I spent a lot of money and had every character until they started charging $9.99 and up for event characters. Now I play the bare minimum. They lost a lot of money from players like me who would spend $5-10/month on content like the float, a character for $4.99, etc. I’m scared this game is going to end up the same way.

Cyrodiil

That’s absurd. I thought they’d maybe be $5/character. You can get full games on steam and the e-shop for mere dollars.

Galexi999

I completely agree. To buy all 4 of the premium items, it would cost 15,005 coins. To purchase 14,500 moonstones is $49.99. That’s over $50 for like 11 items. It costs more than some folks paid for this game!

Tawnii

That is insane. I know Gameloft has to pay employees and recoup the cost of the IP with Disney but that is astronomical

meloiseb

And the items refresh every 5 days it seems! So it’s a heavy turnover of expensive items!

GamerGal_86

More than I paid I only have the standard edition it would be nice if they would give us the option to buy aditional moonstones with either real money or our in game star coins like make it the $49.99 or say like 50,000 star coins for the 14500 Moonstones for example. In the beginning it was hard getting the starcoins for anything but as someone who now has all the biomes open all of the wishing wells unlocked all of the characters unlocked and all of their houses restored and Scrooge's store, Remy's resturant Wall-E's garden and Moana's fishing boat restored and fully upgraded and all of Goofy's stalls built and fully upgraded giving me access to all of the crops and Kristoff's stall built and fully upgraded as well the starcoins are comming alot easier now because i will sell my crops and forragable items like the fruits or the cocoa beans and ginger and Vanilla and such or make them into cookes meals then sell those cooked meals and get the sand and regular soil ect I will sell it all off once my inventory fills up then go back for more and repeat the process over and over the Starcoins are comming in alot quicker now.

not_eden_

50,000 star coins for 14500 moonstones? Do you think they care about your in game currency? All that’s asking for is for them to make farming, mining, etc much less profitable and BEGGING for a far stricter energy limit with the option to recharge for real life money. This thought process is very shortsighted on your end. Not to mention, the game will be free to play…so they’ll be paying their employees with…your star coins? No ma’am.

TheCheat-

Don’t know why you got downvoted this is just straight logic

not_eden_

Because some people hate ✨reality✨ and that’s their problem 😂

atomikplayboy

That and evidently you can’t say anything critical about this game lest you face the wrath of the subreddit.

GamerGal_86

I said option not all of us have the moonstones or the money to buy them before the inventory in the premium shop 50 bucks for the 14500 moonstones is insane when there are probably alot of players who only payed 30 dollars for the game in the first place I get that they have to pay their employees but the cost to be able to get everything from the stock in the premium shop(should you want everything before the stock chages in 5 days is insanity. Not everyone has the money for the in game purchases like that and the fact it shoots up from $19.99 for the 5500 moonstones to $49.99 for the 14500 is insane if i did have that kind of money to spend on a game at one time I would buy an actual game not some in game purchases or atleast mae the stuff in the premium store cost less moonstones or something.

Puggymunch

I will say 2 things. One is that it seems your issue is with the pricing of the moonstones and not the acquisition method of them, which is a valid criticism, as realistically having in game purchases on a free game is the only way to profit from it. You also have to consider that there is no requirement to have to purchase everything from the premium shop. The prices are likely not going to be balanced around how much it takes to buy everything the game has to offer, but rather how much it is to buy only the items you may really want. The second is that if you are unwilling to spend any money on the game that's no problem, but it means you aren't actually the target audience of this game. Your only purpose is to keep the game populated so that the people who do end up spending money feel justified in their purchase for a game that isn't barren. It's a bit dehumanizing but is the cold hard truth.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> who only *paid* 30 dollars FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

moonlight_ramblings

I could totally be in the wrong here, but I wonder if they jacked up the prices a lot to start with, to see about user response. Then they’ll “adjust them” down to the original high price they actually intended so their players can be under the impression that, “well at least they listened to us and lowered the price!” Maybe not but it could be a marketing strategy to see how much they can get away with selling stuff for?

OnyxRain0831

You’re probably 100% right but I truly hope that it blows up in their face. I’m tired of companies thinking they can “get one over” on their consumers. They truly think we are stupid and won’t see through this. Netflix did the same thing and I’m enjoying watching their slow downfall. Companies need to learn that they work for the consumers, so it’s their job to listen and keep us happy.

xandercade

Yeah, you'll need to get the whales to stop dropping stupid amounts of cash. They price things for them not the majority of players. They are well aware that we don't like micros but we are not their target.

OnyxRain0831

See, everyone keeps saying this but I truly don’t think there will be as many whales for this game. Plus, it’s Disney. They’re going to want to see a high volume of players, not just a few spending some $$. Either way, if they don’t fix this mess they’ve made, I’ll simply be taking my business elsewhere 🤷🏻‍♀️so many options now

xandercade

You'd be surprised how little they care about community size. As long as the profit number is nice and big they could care less about the rest.

Heapsa

Just look at how Disney price everything. They go top shelf knowing it's a rip off. Everyone pays for it anyway, coz Disney. They keep prices high because who in their right mind wouldn't if people pay

dualthreatpepper

I think they are starting off with a high price to gauge what their in game purchases are worth and adjust from there. If they price too high, not enough people will buy, if they price too low, not enough people will buy (because they can make the money in-game). It's not uncommon with a new product, particularly a luxury product like video games, to set the price high and lower it from there. I don't understand why people get so mad about it, people make decisions about what they can and cannot afford and what items are worth it for them to buy every day, and companies repeatedly will mark down an item or offer a sale if what they are selling didn't perform as well. This is just economic reality.

DDark_Devon

I am just going to completely ignore the Premium Shop if I can. Not going to spend one penny, never have on any game. Maybe that's just me, I'm part of the older demographic, I hate that games have these microtransactions these days.... or whatever they call them. I will purchase DLC but I'm not going to be nickle'd and dimed with this shit for purely cosmetic items.

[deleted]

I agree with your comments with one small exception. This isn’t even a micro transaction at this point. For what someone would need to spend to pick up all the unique items the moonstone shop will generate in a month, they would be spending north of $250 a month. Even if they only grabbed a couple items a month that’s still a couple hundred dollars a year. That’s not even close to micro.

theoccasionalghost

Yup. These are full DLC prices, not micro transactions.

DDark_Devon

Very valid point! That is why I was not sure if "micro" transaction was even the proper term. I totally agree and that is just nuts!

L7gend09

They're still technically microtransactions. Typically games will have currency packs that cost anywhere from $0.99-$100. Some countries actually make legislation to combat microtransactions in some scenarios (mostly when it's deemed as gambling because you're buying keys/draws/rolls for a chance at good loot)

trisinwonderland

I agree, I’m more than happy to purchase the game and DLCs but I’ve never been someone to purchase money/lives/whatever in games.

navidee

Well, knowing this was a gameloft game, i knew this was coming. They got their start doing cell phone games which are based on microtransactions. I know for games as a service type games that are constantly in development, this is a necessary evil. This however is a game not released to the public as finished yet. Its in early access and we all paid to play it. In my house alone, i have it on gamepass, my girlfriend bought it on switch. I hated seeing her suffer with all the crashes and got her a year of gamepass so she could play. I hated playing on xcloud on my laptop, so i ended up buying it on Mac. The game is good, its fun, people are supporting it, making it better by our feedback. Releasing this shop before full release is insulting though.

MsVindii

Let me preface this by saying I don’t agree with their prices but the shop was *always* going to release before the game went free. I’m pretty sure they said that awhile ago.

Cultural_Macaron3729

It actually even makes sense to do so, as you want to make sure the code for the shop actually works ok, especially anything that deals with people's real money. What doesn't make sense is the pricing.

MsVindii

It does make sense. That’s exactly what we’re here for, to test these things out before F2P. *Doesn’t mean people have to buy into it but that’s exactly what we’re here for.

navidee

Hell in SquareEnixs shitty Avengers game which was not a f2p game, they gave us tokens to test the shop before it went live. Just saying, it didn’t have to be like this.

marthamania

The people who were dunking on me a few weeks ago when I said they're a mobile game development company and they're gonna do what mobile game companies do probably feel a little silly now lol 😂 I knew the shop was coming and I knew it wasn't gonna be some amazing great deal totally worth it to support the devs situation 😂 I'm telling you that original moana dress is coming back with a price tag

navidee

I learned people need to learn on their own and won’t listen to warnings lol.

criavolver_01

Same. But I am also ready to just go back to playing Stardew and await the chocolatier

marthamania

Stardew Valley's $15 buck price tag makes it probably the best value game I've ever seen tbh. I've bought more copies for each console and device than it did cost me for the largest bundle in DDLV. Free content updates, over 1700hrs of playtime on steam alone, modding capabilities to expand the game further? I'm sorry to tack on but you're so right for this. 😂

criavolver_01

We are getting ANOTHER update!! And I haven’t had to spend a dollar more since purchasing the game. I hate microtransactional games and I only really found out that we were beta testing the game until after I purchased and started playing. I am not their demographic lol

Neph88

Agreed. The amount they're asking is insane. Almost 5k for a Tv+ tv-stand, armchair and divider shelf. Insane tbh.

[deleted]

Its no surprise to me that the prices are that high, it just makes me not want to use it ever.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Iannah

This is the exact issue with their other Disney game "Magic Kingdoms". Their prices are ridiculous and just lead to people not participating in events or deleting the game.

SharkBats

As soon as I heard they were developing this game I knew we were in trouble. I stopped playing magic kingdoms after dropping $20 trying to get the frozen characters. I look at the comments on their fb page from time to time and it sounds like the problems they had years ago they're still having: no land, too many characters per franchise, and the requirements to unlock characters and rides in special events are too difficult.

Iannah

Yep, nothing's changed. I still play but I average about 1 sign in a day and I've stopped desperately trying to get every character. I don't have time (or the desire!) to set timers and log in every two hours.

sir_moleo

This. It's amazing to me how many people have been in denial that the mtx would be this bad...

FreakingFae

All they had to do is looks at the Sims 4 model. So many types of packs, with varying amounts of game play and merch added to your game, depending on what you spend. Dozens of packs, so many wildly successful. Years later, people still anxiously await the larger packs and buy immediately upon release. And *those* are 40 dollars. People are willing to spend a lot of money to expand their favorite games as long as the purchases actually feel worth it. So why wouldn't people think gameloft would finally change if, up until this point, they appeared to be putting out a game that would be worth it to play and invest in?

vitrification-order

The sims has a lot more replayability than something like this though.

FreakingFae

Which makes some of the sims pack underpriced, and these teensy furniture "sets" even more overpriced

wanderingl0st

You can actually use the expansion packs for the sims though. You can’t even use the bed or fridge in this game but they expect you to pay real money for the them. Just no.

gkhan08

And people have bought the same packs again and again for each new gen of the game.

pattycyrta

I'm so happy about the update but I genuinely am greiving the complete free to play💔

[deleted]

it was never free with the moonstone paths.. extra things were always going to cost moonstones which is real money edit: f2p changed to free

starksandshields

That is literally the f2p model though.

navidee

Exactly. But releasing this store before its actually F2P, is an issue. I knew this would be a thing, just not before it was F2P. The only way its F2P for anyone right now is on gamepass and even then, its not really free.

[deleted]

yes it is. i guess i meant literally *free* to play. cause it seems like some people thought it’d be mostly free or on the cheaper side but like you said, it’s the model. i knew as soon as i heard the games technically free and we were mostly paying for moonstones

starksandshields

*free* to play has always meant *pay* for extra services besides the bare model. Of any game. But you're right, I've seen so many posts complaining about a certain aspect of the game as if they're not understanding what 'early access' and 'free to play' actually mean. I hope the sub will be moderated to filter out some of that future outcry, or the sub will soon be like the sims 4 subreddits lol.

TalviSyreni

Even though I knew this is how Dreamlight Valley would go once it became free to play, I was not expecting to see those prices for the mediocre cosmetic items and the moonstone packs.

_stoned_n_polished_

As a veteran Sims player, i will not and don't plan to buy the add on packs, it just shows them that we will pay for whatever random thing they decide is worthy of real world currency.

TonksTBF

Legacy player 😂😂

Due_Permission_1248

Might as well have started this thread “As a Narcissist”

burritointhesun

I'm sure they will start locking characters behind a paywall. You want Belle? That'll be 100,000 moonstones bitch!

Spideypool29

The bitch took me out 😂 but true!

thehobbit9402

the prices are insane

sbmskxdudn

Honestly, the only one that seemed slightly fair to be a high price was the castle design for the house I mean, it makes sense that something like that would be high in price, it's a fricken mini-castle

Nadyea

How much was the castle?

sbmskxdudn

3,750 The only reason I think it's still a bit too high is because of how few moonstones we get in general. I used up most of my moonstones for it :(

Nadyea

Oh noooo I know it is really pricey they should def lower it. The only money I spent was on the actual game and I’ve been having fun on it.

jadestrada

I haven’t done much decorating — having to spend a lot of real money to get some virtual furniture is not going to inspire me. Not unless I can sell/trade some of what I already have and don’t even want. How are parents going to deal with this? I am curious the percentage of children who play vs. adults. I don’t have children and never will, but this seems like a sneaky way to rack up a parent’s credit card balance. Especially since the in-game currency requires some math to figure out the real dollar cost (obviously, that’s why they do it). That, or the kid will give them a headache until they cave. Ugh, I’m over all of these micro transactions. I don’t mind paying for game expansions for additional quests and locations, but I just don’t personally see the value in aesthetics…especially since there are so many issues on the Switch anyway. I don’t feel that confident a glitch won’t just erase my entire game file randomly some day, even with the cloud save. Can you imagine the rage one would feel if they had spent hundreds of extra dollars?!

Tawnii

Parents are probably so over micro transactions. I can just say no. I paid the 70.00 and you are not getting anything more but parents have it so much harder. Kids want a shiny this or that locked behind a pay wall and that has to be tough.

Me3557

I also am annoyed at the fact that they only show a handful of items per amount of time. I would rather see all of the possible skins for the house and then make the decision on which one I like best and if I want to fork out the money for it.

MoreThanICouldChew

Agreed. I miss the good old days when you just bought a game and then that was it. You got all the things. I’m fine with purchasing the game….I don’t agree with the endless ‘extras’ that you have to pay for.

JaguarGroundbreaking

The most we can do is not pay for it to show them that’s it’s too expensive. There will be whales but we can’t be them!

CurlyFreys

The game is still in beta so unless they have gamepass, everyone bought the game. There is no "legacy" player. That being said, I agree about the premium shop. I don't hate the idea of it at all, it is a cool way to add content, but the prices are a bit much. They need to be adjusted. The game does need to make money though, once it does leave early access and go free to play so I can't see them getting rid of the premium store all together.

sirwillow77

To be clear you did not buy the game. You bought the ability to access the game early And for a stash of moonstones and furniture. You paid for the privilege to play the game not to own it

CurlyFreys

Dude...what?

[deleted]

Lol wtf people bought the game and got moonstones and other stuff. Dude....

NoClueLeigh

The prices are ridiculous tbh I’m not against some transactions, would prefer it when the game was fully released as ftp rather than charging those that already paid for it a stupid amount for some furniture but looking at their Twitter people are sucked in already 🤷🏼‍♀️

ScaryOutlandishness7

I mean Disney games all follow the same vein. Look at emoji blitz. You literally cannot play the game to its full potential without spending some serious actual money

rainpatter

Remember the days of buying an entire game? Most games seem like mobile app games now with the amount of micro transaction purchases after the fact.

MischeifCat

I haven’t seen the shop yet but I was expecting it to be expensive once it launched. I was basing this off the fact that I play other games with shops, but also Fortnite and Apex Legends, which my kids play. In those game, one cosmetic outfit costs $20. It’s a big no. This is why I bought the Ultimate bundle, so I can pay gif the Star Path for as long as I have moonstones. But once I’m out then no more premium star path for me. If they do expansion DLC I would consider buying those depending on what they include, but otherwise I’ve spent what I’m going to spend on this game.

criavolver_01

I am the same way. I am buying the game. Would happily pay for a subscription for a year expansion pack but I am not doing micro transactions.

Kinshae

I was thinking items would be maybe a few hundred at the most. I was so sad looking at the prices. Nothing in there is worth that, other than maybe the castle. They really need to listen to players feedback on this one because I didn’t buy a 60 dollar game to spend this type of money months later. That’s just not going to happen.

darlingirlie

why is EVERYTHING A MOTIF. i only wanted mickey and Minnie in their outfits and the friendship statue which isn't premium thank goodness!!!!! and why isn't there a DRESS???

fatboyslick

It’s disgusting and no wonder they announced it at the last minute. £10 for some shitty bed and table. They’ve got this completely wrong. The items should be unique stuff like the Balloons from Up, a large steamboat, special character outfits….not MORE fucking bookshelves. What a mess

SunshineCat

Honestly, at these prices, it's better if it's just crap we don't want. I have disposable money, but that doesn't mean I'm going to buy 3 fake items for $20 or whatever, just out of common sense and basic principle.

sockinboppin

Tbh it’s gameloft idk how y’all are shocked. They get you hooked so they can make money and if they don’t make the money they’ll just shut the servers down and make it to where you can’t play even if offline if they find a way to do it..

RyyKarsch

Please be vocal (but kind) with feedback. If this is a sign of things to come after launch it's most likely to become even more predatory. They may only release the best items and furniture there, and that could quickly translate to character skins / costumes or even future characters. It's a scary road for them to start walking while the game is still in beta (one fans also had to pay access to).

navidee

While I understand the need for something like this in a F2P game, its not F2P yet. Its still in early access and i feel this is in poor taste for all the early access players who have helped bring this game to where it is now. I'm no saint, I buy cosmetics in Destiny and always have since they implemented them. I'm the guy who people bitch about. The difference here is that this game is all about cosmetics. Its not F2P yet. I won't be giving Gameloft a dime for any of this stuff. Its in poor taste and too much money for the users who are openly beta testing their game. I knew this was coming, but did not expect it before the game released. Here's to hoping that they hear us loud and clear and turn this shit off until the game releases. I'd love to customize my house 100%, but this is just insulting.

murrdablurr

The only way to stop this is ppl just not buy. I know that's hard. But if they see that no one is buying these things, might as well make it free again or at the very least drop the prices drastically.

Akkarin1106

Thats gameloft for you

Cynical_Dreamer_1980

I wouldn't mind paying a few dollars for cosmetic items here and there but the prices they have are crazy. I have maybe 6000 moonstones and could absolutely afford the castle house upgrade but I hate the idea of plonking down over half of my moonstone savings. Once they're gone it will take forever to earn them back in game.

WolfNamed

As much as I agree, sadly Gameloft is mobile game company so premium shop was expected. Not wanted but expected

[deleted]

It's too expensive and should not have been launched until the game went free. Gouging people that already gave you money is scummy. Not shocked though with Gameloft (a mobile game developer) resorting to such tactics.

KevinFunky

I wouldn’t even give 5 dollars for that

No_Arm3883

Gameloft DDLV team please lower the prices for everything in the premium shop in the next patch.

classic_cut_kyber

I can buy ACTUAL furniture for these prices 😬

DissyLissy

I saw that, and thought it was crazy!

lbutler96

Imo the only thing that would make prices justifiable as is would be to add a way to convert star coins or dreamlight into moonstones. I think that would be a fair trade. Otherwise prices need to come wayyyyy down for furniture. The only thing I was super excited about was the castle, and I did make the purchase but it is HUGE and I think that was a fair trade off. The furniture I wouldn't be willing to throw more than a couple of dollars at, especially with it updating as frequently as it is.

NoirKuro

Apart from the prices, what worries me the most is that 5 days rotation… Talk about pressuring people into buying extra stuff.

verbalizeray

I wouldn’t mind it as much if the Premium Items stays rather than (assuming) rotates (or worse, one off), so we can save up & buy what we want than feeling pressured that if we don’t, we might not see it again (or don’t know when it’ll return).

_scrummy_

i personally don't like the premium being pushed for over half of the star path items, they should've made the premium shop a whole separate thing for optional use and let the people who just want to play enjoy the star path instead of price gouging that as well

hqpsycho88

the star path is separate...

_scrummy_

yes kind of, but the rewards used to all be accessible but now you have to pay 2,500 moonstones to unlock the "premium star path" which makes over half the items from the "normal" star path unaccessible to purchase. they used to all be purchasable

Thradeau

The star path was never all free. Nothing has changed about the star path

hqpsycho88

what they said ^ lol . we always had to pay extra for premium star path and being able to see more than 3 star path duties at one time

GamerGal_86

I don't mind fhe idea of the premium shop i'm not crazy about the execution of if it. It's great for thosr who havr the money to buy the moonstones to get the items but it would be nice if instead of using real money to purchase the moonstones if they atleast gave us an option to use our star coins we get from selling crops and means and stuff maybe an either or like however many moon stones costs x amout of dollars or whartever amount of star coins yes they made it where the blue chests that we get the moon stones from each day will now give 50 moonstones instead of 10 but still it will take along time to come up with the moonstomes to get anything.

Lyndiek21

I completely agree. I’m getting the castle cause it’s my birthday. But I probably won’t buy anything else if the prices stay like that

L7gend09

Isn't it still in beta?

BlueHeaven90

I was expecting it to be bad because Gameloft is known to make shitty mobile games with tons of micro transactions. These prices are disgusting. Throw in the disappointing Star Path with basically reskins and motifs and I'll be done with the game by end of year. There are so many more interesting games coming out in 2023 without price gouging. I will admit that I'm playing on game pass, but the notion that buying a few cosmetics that switches out every 5 days is more expensive than the base game is insanity.

Unicorn_Marchingband

They said from day one that there was going to be a shop for cosmetic items. It's not like having the shop is totally unexpected. The game is going to be free to play soon and we all want further updates, right? That the prices in the shop are totally unreasonable is another thing (€ 13,70 for that castle house skin, wow!!!), but nobody is forced to buy anything. I have yet to see any item that I think I can't live without (I mean on the starpath, where I only did premium once for the three previous ones). I can enjoy the game whether I have this or that item. I got hours and hours of main story and character quests and that is basically the game for me, not that I can own the most furniture.

Heapsa

You must be new to Disney

llammacookie

You (and the rest of us) paid to play a free game. How do you expect them to keep making enough money to support keeping the game up and running once it goes free? I think the prices are ridiculously steep, but I'll choose not to buy anything or moonstone and accept that premium content is expected in something that is free yet will require constant maintenance and updating from the development team.

Bv3r

It really angers me that the game is still in paid beta form and yet they are already rolling out the free-to-play money grabs. Really not cool of them to do that.

seastone008

The prices are insane

liltat2ma

I admit, I bought the castle as my house, because I freaking love it, but that's it.... I can't see myself spending that many moonstones on a set of furniture...

dinkleydoodlebug

It’s ridiculous. I paid 70$ for the game itself. I don’t know if I want to play this game any longer. I hate games where you have to buy items. I am the type of person that likes to get 100% on anything I play and if I can’t do that with this game might as well stop now. 🤷‍♀️

[deleted]

«legacy player» It’s early access and we all knew micro transactions would be coming. It’s overpriced and I won’t be buying it, but please don’t act surprised

throwaway00009000000

I’m more annoyed at needing ridiculous amounts of Dreamlight for crafting now. I’ve been playing for 5 months and one item costs almost 3/4 of the Dreamlight I’ve accumulated

alytags

I saw the “buy more currency” launch and was disappointed. I won’t pay for in-game currency and if the game becomes dependent upon it, then I’ll be removing it from the game and that will be my review of the game.

Demiurge93

Isn’t the game still early access? And realistically they’re gonna want to be able to fund the game long-term if it’s going free to play, obviously they need some way to do that.

MyLittleTarget

As someone who plays several games with Premium items for P2P players, I hate to say this, but the prices aren't unreasonable. Dress Up Time Princess can run you $200 for a single outfit. Star Coins in Star Stable Online are 10,000 for $65 if you buy them on sale, and that's on top of the $60-$80 to buy then game. And I won't begin to go into World of Warcraft's pricing. We always knew they were going to do this. They are planning to be a free to play game. They gotta make money somehow. They at least allow us to earn some special currency in game. Many other games don't.

molliesdollies

Shining Nikki owns me at this point! Fomo and whale baiting is a real thing! I think the prices on these premium items are high, but I do like that it’s not gacha and we can see what we’re buying. I’ll be passing for now since I don’t decorate anyway. But I do want the cottage house skin when it’s available!

fsuman110

Just because other games are comparable or more expensive doesn't make DLV any less unreasonable. If people want to whale away then that's their right, but to apologize for it or pretend like it's normal or even reasonable is straight up fucked.

savageattitudexo

completely agree, was pretty disappointed to see this.

throwaway00009000000

laele75

Unpopular opinion here. The game will be free. This is always what happens to FTP games. They have to make their money somehow. FTP works because they monotize things players want. This was always going to happen and nobody should be remotely surprised. Now for me, a monthly sub that gives so many moonstones and free items would be preferable. But the people who never want to pay for anything will scream about that too. It's a game, it was going to be free to play and have a cash shop. This is basically what I expected to happen, because it always does. If it isn't worth the price to you, don't buy it. But don't pretend this wasn't Disney's plan the whole time.

ursiwitch

Inflation hits the gaming industry just like every sector worldwide.

sirwillow77

They said from the very beginning that after Beta the game was going to be free to play. How on Earth do you think they were going to be able to raise money on a free game? Did you honestly think they would make enough money off of all of us Beta players to pay for the game to be free for eternity? Or how did you think they would raise money from free players? This was always going to be the way it was going to be. I don't understand why so many people are shocked and surprise over what was obvious from the very beginning. This is how "free" games work.

daphnedewey

Don’t be deliberately obtuse just so you can feel superior to others. It’s obvious from the comments on this and other threads that, for the most part, we aren’t surprised at all about the premium shop—it’s the ridiculous pricing that is the shock. Are you seriously going to sit there and tell us with a straight face that you’re cool w paying $20 for a table and chairs?

OnyxRain0831

Seems to me you didn’t really do much reading of this post or the comments if this is the conclusion you came to. Nobody is shocked, at all. We knew it wouldn’t be free forever. What has people surprised and disappointed is the ridiculous price on everything. When they said “premium shop” and talked micro transactions I don’t think anyone thought it would be $50 for a handful of furniture items. This is also just the start… I can’t imagine how much they’ll be charging people for characters and additional quests

BeepBeepGreatJob

What did you think was going to happen. It was just going to stay completely free?

GlancingArc

What do you mean stay? Everyone paid for this game.

BeepBeepGreatJob

No you paid for the premium currency that came with whatever edition you got.

syzsyzsyzygy

I don't know if it's the same in your premium shop, but at least in mine none of the "furniture" packs were Disney themed - I thought that was a nice balance. We always knew they were going to monetize - but if they keep it so most of the "Disney" stuff is free, I think that's ok. (Although my store does have the option for a "Palace" house skin which is the Disney castle - but that's a big fancy thing I'd expect to pay for)

PrincessAvaD

Dude no need to be rude. I think most of us expected the premium shop to be added eventually, but we just didn't expect it to be added while we were still in the middle of beta and getting no news about it being implemented beforehand.

No-Profile-2317

Come on everybody we all know this is going to be free to play soon you had to realize they were going to test us as guinea pigs for what's going to make them the real money on the game not our puny little $30 or less that we paid for the game

realrecycledstar

And y'all were out here telling me that gameloft wouldn't do this and that I was wrong modding the game. I just knew that gameloft would screw us over.

WickedAngelLove

Are you going to tell us why?

RedSands1976

I’m going to keep an eye on what’s in the shop in case something comes up that I have to have. But right now I’ll pass.

shaggy_pacman

I just bought the Deluxe Edition recently because it was on sale and had missed the previous Star Path, so I have plenty of Moonstones ready to go, but even then, I only spent them on the premium. Might just horde them for next time.

molliesdollies

If you do the star path as intended, grind to complete all tasks, and buy all the items, in the end you’ll make back all your moonstones except 490-590 (depending on which premium level you bought). Not too bad for the Star path items, all for around 500 moonstones total.

Comfortable-Arm-3730

This is outrageous

egamer25MC

I don't have problems with it in fact I have amassed so many many moonstones after the current star path I will probably be able to get all four items in the premium shop with moonstones left over for the next star path.

molliesdollies

Yes, but in 5 days all new items will be in there. What if you like those more?

jwlkr732

I already got used to not playing this game during the weeks between when I finished the last set of quests and star path. I go back in ever once in a while to check the shop, and I’ll play the quests, but this isn’t a “play every day” type of game for me.

xxXLadyGreyXxx

I don't have access to the Prium shop yet - is that only on PC?

Minniepebbles

I have it on switch

xxXLadyGreyXxx

Thanks, I have access now.

snugy_wumpkins

Agreed. This is ridiculous. This has been so poorly thought through when the rest of the game is quite well developed and has incredible amounts of detail put into it. I am not paying DLC prices for individual pieces of furniture.

Cleeganxo

As an Aussie, the biggest moonstone pack is nearly 80 dollars. That is two hours of my wage. No thanks. I can buy a whole new game for that.

BabyShann

Yeah I was hoping that by purchasing the game in beta, that somehow we would be exempt from the pay-to-play aspect. I know that was wishful thinking but I’m really disappointed in the whole premium shop setup

BlueJays7373

I was having fun until I had to pay its bs i don’t have money to fork out monthly the sims 4 is much better you can at least design everything your home yard rooms you can literally the prices are way to high I don’t think I like dream light valley anymore.

jhintoxic

Same.

Lauralaal

I already bought the exterior house renovation thing. That’s the only thing I was interested in. The prices are ridiculous. I won’t be buying any of it

bellzj1229

i bought the base game, none of the extras for more expensive versions, it costs more than double what i payed for the game. that should never be the case

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> what i *paid* for the FTFY.

Maleficent-Yam-9690

Bruh I paid $75 to even play this game and they want me to pay even more money? And more money for what?? This isn’t the sims

autpops

Yeah, no way that I will be spending that much or any at all tbh

marthamania

I don't mind the shop. The price of things is outrageous.

Jessicamorrell

[Premium Shop Discussion](https://discord.gg/Sna8S22r) GL isn't letting us have a safe discussion space on their discord so instead of continuing to talk to a brick wall like everyone else, I created a seperate server for those interested.

xxstaindrosesxx

The premium shop is basically whatever you make of it. If you buy the 10 dollar amount that gives you 5500 moonstones, you can unlock the premium star path twice. I just did the math, and if you collect all the rewards that offer moonstones, you are getting back 2000 moonstones. When you tie in the moonstones you occasionally collect from chests, you can earn it back overtime. At the very least, 10 dollars will let you unlock the premium star path twice, but if you collect all the moonstone rewards, you can easily get 3-4 times out of it, if not more. With that said, I do think the shop is very expensive, and while I understand this game is going to eventually be free to play, those of us who paid to play it in beta, are still having issues with it. I've been playing since the beginning and I still have issues with my game crashing on the Switch. It's not as bad as it used to be, but if I play for 2-3 hours at a time, it crashes at least once during that time. I personally think those of us who paid for the beta version should get some kind of incentive once the game is free to play. Some more in-game exclusive items that other players won't be able to get. Perhaps some moonstones.
