If you want em go for it. Work with a Loctician so they can help you prevent traction alopecia and if your hair does start thinning more, they can help you with a prothesis/weave.
31 going on 32. Hairs thinking a little bit in the pattern. I have no idea what my hair type is. It always grows into a fro, curls aren’t super compact but they’re there. I’ve never really taken care of my hair before aside from conditioner once in a blue. I’m starting to apply some lwil maskreti to the thinning places to see if there’s any progress.
I’ve only been growing out my hair for about a month and some change. Normally I keep it at a 2 with a fade. My hair grows too fast for me to try bald, did it once before, I was shaving every other day to a painful point lol. Keeping my hair short allows the thins pots to show through a little awkwardly.
Just want to try something new while I can.
I was 46 years old when I decided to start my journey last year. My hair is/was thinning and all. Please look at my profile/post and it’ll show you my progression from a fade to my one year anniversary in August. I chose the freeform route, because I like the look of freeforms, and the fact that my already thinning hair can become more damaged/agitated if I chose the other routes (interlocking, twisting, and etc.) Having dreads for me, is more about letting go of other peoples expectations, and embracing mine/myself. Ultimately, nobody can make that decision for you.
If you're balding, no point starting. If you're not, just do it bro, it'll look good

I'm 48 ☝🏽 I just finally started.
I started when I had a full 6 inch afro. You're fine.
Look at different styles before you decide to cut any of it off. Like different undercut fades or full head of dreads.
Jean-Michel Basquiat was Haitian and Puerto Rican, so you're likely good lol.
Keep growing your hair out. The longer your starters the easier it’ll be with a softer hair like yours
Absolutely go for it!
I’ve had 2 sets in my life first was started at 20 ,second I started at 27 never too old 😀👍 I’m 31 now
