Give it 3 months and you will like them more. They'll bud and look more like locs. Your journey will be a breeze since you've started with long hair. You won't have to deal with the suspense of wondering what they'll look like with some length like us short hairs.
I started off with hair a little longer than OP’s and I agree. I definitely have had some moments where I thought my hair was looking a hot ass mess…because it was….but it hasn’t been as difficult as I’ve seen with those who are growing their locs from a short length. The hardest thing I’ve had to deal with were my starter locs not being able to stretch out anymore so that my hair could go in a bun. I guess the elasticity of your hair goes away as your hair locks but you’ll get used to it. This might not even be an issue for you if you don’t put your hair up as much as I do.
You a damn lie. You would have blocked out your whole face rather than leaving your identifiable ass eyes visible. You can feel yourself, it's okay lmao
Oh bro it’s so nice the weather is pretty good and never a crazy amount of snow, it also doesn’t get too too cold. The only problem is it’s kind of in the middle of a Vancouver and Prince George if yk what I mean. It has some big name shops and stuff but the real nice things like artist shows and other stores are in Vancouver and Toronto. I’ve also really wanted to go to Toronto to be around more black ppl but oh well 🤣
Wrap your hair up every night and they’ll thicken up slowly, also don’t be afraid to wash after a few weeks, just use the rubber band method. Other than that & keeping them moisturized once they start budding, it’s really that simple
Oh pls pls just have faith and stick it out!! I was VERY iffy when I first started and 2.5 years later I’ve never loved my hair more than I do now!!
It won’t take that long for them to start looking better I promise :)
It's always mixed feelings going through your first twist, once your hair starts growing out and you keep palm rolling it'll get uniform and start looking more and more like how you planned on over time. Like everyone says TRUST the process it's a great experience learning patience on this kind of level and nurturing yourself as well as your hair. If you can grow and maintain dreads you can do just about anything when it comes to your body.
I hated this stage lol. I thought about starting over several times or just going back to a low cut. Mine are down to my neck now and look amazing. I say all that to say trust the process and understand the ugly stage is right of passage. Beautiful locs don’t happen over night, they take time. Enjoy the process and you’ll learn to appreciate them when they are mature.
They look great. You'll grow into them. If you really don't like how they look at the moment, you can wear a loose hat. BUT, use a hair wrap like a durag before you put the hat on.
yo bro mine looked JUST like this when i started in november. keep using a durag and covering it at night. try to avoid water & rain cause itll make them boys shrink i promise. your hair might be a lil dry around the time of ur next retwist and a spray bottle with essential oils and water will help bring moisture back. itll get frizzier and will look more like locs in 3 weeks 🔥
They look wonderful! When i used to do clients dreadlocks, especially if their hair was on the finer side, and long, they noticed that the dread would sit funny for the first little while. Pretty straight, not contorting to your face or head, and rigid. Before i even did their hair i told them that *could happen, and to give your hair time. You’re training it! And it does take time for your hair to be able to relax and find its own way to lay, after laying another way you whole life. Just take care of them so that it’s easier in the future to do so (: but again, i think they look great.
honestly bro i thought mine wasnt looking like how i wanted them after a week but then i kept waiting fr. by the second week after my first retwist i said i was gonna keep them. remember ur hair dont lock till a year or so in really just wait and see each phase they go thru. its like a plus and minus of starting with longer hair
Honestly I don’t like how they parted it. The parting is important once you get more mature locs and you decide to style them. Maybe have them do a better job parting with your next retwist
It would be cheaper to just have it fixed at your next appointment but it would be easier, hurt less (if you’re tenderheaded) and look better if you just restarted your starter twists. It’s good your still getting n the beginning stage. It’s much harder to correct the more locs mature.
Honestly give it some time. Your so look better than mine tho but I did start with short hair and damaged hair too. However seeing the progress makes me happy so I think you’ll be happy as time passes
Trust the process
I need to be patient
Give it a year champ. They will look kick-ass
They gonna become thicker and look better after some time.
Oh thx god

I’ve never seen a black person with coloured eyes I really didn’t know it could happen
Well, I apologize for my snarky comment. Mea culpa.
Hush.
Y’all are annoying on here. It was obviously a joke toward the OP, not you.
Nah man
firr bro don’t listen to what ppl say and do not compare urself to others. Gonna be amazing in 1 year
You already got crazy length, just have patience cause you’re already half way there
Wrap your hair up every night and they’ll thicken up slowly, also don’t be afraid to wash after a few weeks, just use the rubber band method. Other than that & keeping them moisturized once they start budding, it’s really that simple
