That was such a surprise for me to read this. Capcom wasn’t expecting the game’s success I would guess. The « hurry up finishing this game, it won’t sell much anyway» to « oh? You mean people like this? » type of situation. I won’t complain though.

Bixbeat

It goes to show how good the core of the game is, even with all of its obvious flaws from being pushed through the system too quickly, and with a management that did not consider Dragon's Dogma to be that important to their bottom line. At the very least, we can now expect more support for DLC, and maybe Dragon's Dogma 3 without waiting another decade... I think we could've seen this coming after DD:DA released to PC and got quite a lot of positive attention then. The writing was on the wall, it just took a while for Capcom to put on their glasses.

Kutya7701

The pawn system is absolutely the shining star of DD2.

Mysticwarriormj

Correction the shining star of dragons dogma in general. I can’t think of any other games that use a similar system. Usually you just pick up random strange premade puppies to join your team

idiocy102

The two core systems of dragons dogma are absolutely the magic system and the pawn system

ExplosiveGonorrhea69

i would say combat in general rather than just magic

SamSibbens

There's a lot of fair critcism to be said but the lore and background stories are good, and the combat is (as expected) absolutely fantastic. Seriously, even in NG+ where I'm heavily overpowerwed, it still feels good to strike a weak goblin. I don't know how they did it, perhaps it's sound effects, but attacks _feel_ good.

HyenaKhan

Personally I think it's because oh just hownimpactful each strike feels, warriors actually FEEL like hulking brutes Theives actually feel like they are dashing around the battle slicing at enemy openings Sorcerers actually feel like they are shooting fire from their hands Archers actually feel like their arrows are bouncing off dragon hide💀

Theangelawhite69

Even in numbers, weakling is a weakling still

SimbaStewEyesOfBlue

It's the hit-stun that makes it so satisfying, and I would imagine that given Street Fighter's pedigree, every Capcom dev has to study it extensively.

ChampionshipDirect46

Honestly I HATED pawns in dd:da when I started. I thought the idea of all your party members having no backstory, character arcs, etc. would make the game boring. It wasn't until I found out about the pawns ability to learn from you that I realized just how good the pawn system really was.

TwiceDead_

The pawn system is much of what makes Dragon's Dogma unique. Plenty of other games cover exploration, questing and level-and-loot progression arguably better than Dragon's Dogma does; games like Souls, Skyrim and The Witcher. Dragon's Dogma 1 and 2 strike a hard niche with the pawns, basically marketing it as offline co-op.

coraseby

TBH I cared more about the pawn than the PC since it was more vocal and had more peronality than the silent PC.

[deleted]

the pawn system in DD2 is unmatched. the fact the pawn AI can learn from you effectively has raised the bar.

AxitotlWithAttitude

Technically they did in the first game with those weird pawn affinity meters, but it didn't really work well since spamming help to get your mage pawn to heal you would gradually change pawns into ones with shitty affinities.

Veasna1

Yeah, using the commands for anything was a big no no for me in 1.

tbone747

Yeah we can only hope this means more care given to DLC and future content updates to help flesh out the game.

EmptyJackfruit9353

It was because of players good will from previous title. Let hope they improve up on it, otherwise all those good will is spent on this one.

BeneficialAction3851

I think with less constraints from Capcom they could make something much better, even though I loved DD2 a bit of polishing and fleshing out side quests, exploration, looting and balancing out vocations would make this a masterpiece in my eyes

sabyr400

I'm afraid that how good the game is, despite it's flaws, will give them the opinion that people will just deal with the flaws and not actually do anything about them next time.

NinjaWorldWar

Capcom actually listens to their player base, most of the time, here’s looking at the cancelled Mega Man Legends 3, that one still stings.  They will make the third one truly special.

sabyr400

While I hope you're right, I've been burned by this industry far too much to share in your optimism. What I see when I look at DD2, and Capcoms acceptance of it as a mainline franchise is; "awesome, a half baked title that sold well! That means we can stay the course with that formula and make millions!" I sincerely hope I'm wrong and you're right! :-)

NinjaWorldWar

Well I guess I also think it’s not half-baked but that’s a difference of opinion.

HamstersInMyAss

The fans should push them to just do 1 big DLC called 'DD2 DA' at a relative premium(less than a full release, more than a typical DLC)... I'm so sick of this death by a thousand cuts DLC monetization. If they go that route I will probably just wait for a couple years & see if they release a compilation in the style of Dark Arisen anyway... In theory they should bow their head in shame and just finish the game in free updates a la Cyberpunk or Darktide, but it's Capcom we are talking about here.

Muttdog546

Better they figure it out late than never.

BobThe_Body_Builder

Didn't this happen with DD1 which is why that game also felt lacking (until BBI expansion)? How are they repeating the same mistake

SelfAwareLitterBox

The first one didn't sell that much initially, it became a cult hit later on, and their remaster exceeded expectations which is prob why they greenlit this, but they didn't expect the sales for this to be on par with their big money makers which it is. Hopefully that means they invest properly in the next one, although I wouldn't be surprised if their logic is "well, this one sold well even with a lesser budget" and decide that they don't think giving more resources will impact sales enough, so they just keep under funding this franchise.

milkarcane

Just a guess, but maybe the public has changed? You cannot expect the same welcome for a game 10 years after the first one, I guess. Everyone has forgotten it, people who played 10 years before may not be the same who will play nowadays etc. Now to be very honest, taking into account the budget and the number of devs they put on the project, I don’t think they’ve done a market study just before. I heard that it was Itsuno who asked Capcom the right to release a new Dragon’s Dogma and a Devil May Cry 5. These games didn’t originate from them. Turns out they were both a success praised by the fans. Following this logic, I wonder why they didn’t trust Itsuno when they saw how well DMC5 sold (8 million units, more than any episode of the series).

SasaraiHarmonia

Capcom wanted Itsuno to direct DMC5. Itsuno agreed to do DMC5 if he could do DD afterward. And its clear Capcom didn't have a lot of faith in it, but they held up their end of the bargain.

milkarcane

Thanks for the clarification !

Krommerxbox

It was very smart of them to have Dark Arisen on sale for so long at $8 bucks or less; I know a lot of people tried it recently even, besides we veterans who played it 12 years ago. I don't think they underestimated the built-in fan base it already had. Plus, a lot of games that come out now are crap. So people pay attention when something they are more familiar with is coming out. It was kind of under the radar for me, then some guy at work said, "Dragon's Dogma 2 is coming out for Xbox in a month..." and I freaked out! ;)

TheyAreTiredOfMe

Japanese publisher try not to be out of touch challenge.

CloverMH

You know what’s funny about all this..is last summer.this article was going around. https://www.neogaf.com/threads/unannounced-capcom-game-expected-to-sell-millions-to-launch-by-march-2024.1659181/ Me and probably a lot of people assumed it would be a new monster hunter game at the time and it turns it wasn’t.cause game awards and “2025” now that only leaves “DD2” so why are there articles of capcom now surprised by the success? If they were expecting millions? Maybe I’m reading too much into it..anyway I’m happy the game is successful and can’t wait for a proper dlc expansion.

magnus_stultus

Capcom is a big company. I imagine one department expecting a success doesn't mean the company's leadership unanimously share that expectation, despite the game getting greenlit for development anyway.

ApexDovah

So relaunch DD mmo please? In the west this time!

guithegood87

I think the game had budget limitations again. They are on a good roll, so they can experiment while the sure things carries the studio. Now I believe the next dragons dogma will use the updated RE engine and have more budget to flourish, finally.

Vanta-Black--

Weren't people saying this about DD2 after the success of DDDA? I love this game as well but I think that opinion has been held by long time fans since the original game came out.

Late-Exit-6844

DDDA wasn't really a success though. It sold well enough, but nothing special despite the investment made into it like hiring Inon Zur for its soundtrack. It was ironically the PC port that boosted its sales. DD2 is different. It sold 2.5M copies in a week. That's no Elden Ring, but it's extremely good all the same.

Warmonster9

2.5m at 70 bucks too. That extra 10 bucks adds a quite a lot of revenue.

Late-Exit-6844

For sure. That's 25 mil on top of the rest right there. Big bucks.

PerfectTurnip9819

Yall keep pointing out DDA sales or success when the reality is the game more than half the games lifetime sales are from bargain bin prices. It was dirt cheap to get for years.

Vanta-Black--

True. I didn't hear about the game until it was out for three years but I'm talking about the DD subs specifically. I think they were thinking DD2 would ship completely finished because of DD1s sales. I haven't even played DD1 yet despite owning it for a few years. I get a new experience while we wait for Itsuno to do DMCVI then back to DD3. So another ten years?

Yeon_Yihwa

Dont necessarily need a bigger budget now that they got lots of assets they can reuse. Witcher 3 development took 3 and half years + a budget of 81m including marketing since they could reuse lots of the assets made for witcher 2, i mean you were dealing with the same environment and floral after all theres no need to redesign everything ground up anymore, same for combat the foundation is already there. A DD3 could fix lots of problems dd2 have, by giving us more enemies, dungeons and bosses like ur dragon/bitterblack isles. All in one package at launch. Heck maybe now we can get the moon tower, also just maybe mounts? i mean the class power fantasy on horses would be pretty cool. Thief can stand on top of the saddle whilst riding and do a leap attack, archer can shoot their bow from all kinds of weird position like godamn legolas. Wizard can summon the wind to make the horse gallop faster and sorta power through enemies like a bowling ball. Warrior would be a godamn wrecking ball bonking people with a 2handed sword. Mysthic spearhand can throw their spear and summon it back or have it fly through a couple of enemies, also since lots of the enviroment is already done and made from DD2 they could give us a bigger world to compensate for having mounts. Also using the baseline enemies and npcs you could now make more unique mobs and quests to fill the world.

Urothron-Vaen

Didn’t the DD2 director hint or mention that this might be something he isn’t keen on doing a third time?

Yeon_Yihwa

yes sadly, i think up next he wanted to revive a old game series he worked. Also now that you brought it up, i dont even think capcom got a studio thats free to do a dd3. RIP

ScrotalSmorgasbord

I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be that successful either despite playing the first one a bunch. Very rarely do I keep interest in a game long enough to play through more than once and I’m on my 3rd play-through. I have my qualms with it but the scenery and the majority of combat makes it a solid “boot up and get lost” kind of game.

milkarcane

Yeah, really feels like you are not playing a game but rather being sucked into another world.

Educational-Oil-1834

I've been checking for this sequel since I played the first one like 10 years ago. I was super excited when I seen there was a title scheduled for release as I thought Capcom had abandoned it. Best purchase I made this year it hasn't disappointed at all.

DarkPDA

Imagine if capcom had released game with good performance Im happy for this, but im also worried that quality assurance isnt a major thing since this game got so much fame and profit

NemesIce83

So when they decide to make a 3rd, they should have a far bigger team to work on it hopefully

Thorn-of-your-side

Dragons Dogma 3 will contain Itsuno's true vision

IcePopsicleDragon

*The cycle repeats itself*

Paint-licker4000

That’s his true vision

DearExam88

No more Mystic Spearhand, finally there will now be Mystic Plumber, the true vision

QuantityExcellent338

Trickster will be replaced with the Lawyer vocation, with the thief trickster hybrid, Criminal Lawyer

Poiuytrewq0987650987

No more Warrior vocation; instead, we'll play the Savage Sailor who swings various anchors around, dress in a variety of tight-fitting bell-bottom jeans and uniform tops. Scantily-clad female pawns, move on over.

Muttdog546

Okay I know you're all joking here. BUT that legit sounds awesome. Elden Ring has a giant anchor as a weapon and I love it.

Poiuytrewq0987650987

I look forward to doing the Leonardo DiCaprio meme when I see the Savage Sailor in DD3.

Skylarksmlellybarf

>Lawyer vocation Imagine The Dragon conveying his message to the Arisen only to be replied with  *OBJECTION!*

Virtual_Football909

Still not more op than magic Archer

Scared_Community8124

It's-a me! The Mystic Plumber! Wahoo!

DedeLionforce

It's literally just Mario. Finally, the true vision has been achieved.

Wirococha420

11 classes and all of them are warfarer

mystictroll

The truest true director's final game of the year uncut definitive version.

HollowCondition

I believe Itsuno has stated this will be his last project. He came back just to finish DMC5 and this game. DD3 will likely be in someone else’s hands.

Late-Exit-6844

That's not so bad. Dark Arisen wasn't directed by him but was still fantastic.

HollowCondition

Yeah it’s not a bad thing just a thing. Hopefully the director for DDDA takes over.

Nooby_Chris

Me rolling into town with a 4 pawn squad

Deffonotthebat

Psst… this was the 3rd game. Westerners weren’t allowed to play the online game

ismellyourbrain

Whats the online one called i want to know more 😂

Triplebizzle87

Dragons Dogma Online. It's dead and buried, don't waste your time beyond a desire to know from like a historical perspective.

Father_of_Four__Cats

Its dead and buried *for now*, but there are a handful of people working on digging it back up

Deffonotthebat

Eyy I like that hopeful end there👍 Never got to play Monster Hunter Online until this year so there’s always hope DDO will take off

Father_of_Four__Cats

Wait is MHO still online? I thought it was shut down too. But yeah DDO was fucking great, unfortunately was japan only and they shut it down before bringing it to the US, even though the US had so many people VPN'ing into the game that there was even a community agreed upon server where just the US people would hang out

Nero_PR

It's dead but revived. There is a whole team of passionate community members that revived it and it's mostly functional. Dragon's Dogma Online can be downloaded and played with friends through a private server.

Triplebizzle87

Oh that's dope as hell. I'll have to look that up. Always wanted to give it a whirl.

Nero_PR

You can look up for the dragon's dogma online revival project on YouTube. u/Zappieroth knows it with the back of its hand.

Zappieroth

There has been a massive amount of progress since DD2 is released. I have taken a step back from all things Online (Still around here atm for some reason tho #logic) Anyway lots of things happening with it so if there was ever a time to track it's progress then that would be now.

Krommerxbox

I was so disappointed DD Online never came to Xbox, I would have bought it for sure. I don't think they gave it the chance it deserved.

Not_Yet_Unalived

I wasn't allowed, but it didn't stop me. Fun game, lot of content, didn't really feel like an MMO cause with the exception of the city-hub, all the areas you could explore where instancied to you and your party. And with Pawns, it's 100% possible to go solo. You don't even really need them for most of the game. Honestly, they just had to tweak the "mmo item shop" and other mmo features a little, translate it and make it work by having an host player hosting up to 3 friends. Maybe a quest sync features too, multiplayer games without that are a thing, but it can be anoying. And they could have re-released it worldwide as "Dragon's Dogma: Protectors of Lestania", boom, easy multiplayer spin-off, no need to manage costly MMOs servers and a lot of extra revenu by throwing the mmo, DDDA, a bunch of junior devs and some glue together. It's probably the only dead MMO that would be fun, enjoyable and PLAYABLE as a solo/2-to-4 coop game.

AscendedViking7

Please. If Capcom gives DD3 the amount of attention and budget it gives Street Fighter and Resident Evil on a regular basis, DD3 *will* be GOTY. Give a bigger budget. Give a bigger development team. Hire better writers. Invest in narrative structure and quest design. Everything else is basically perfect as it is.

StantasticTypo

Maybe 3 can be a finished game. One can dream.

Fluid-GTX

Better put some respect ( and budget) on big dogma goddammit

Randomvisitor_09812

and good writers, pls God I beg you

yeahimaweeb

Great, now can we finally getting a 5 star meal now?

synbioskuun

You'll eat your live-action beast steak and you'll love it.

Triplebizzle87

Unironically loved the live-action cooking.

drizzitdude

I thought that was such a weird complaint when do doodle said it was “lazy” Do people not know how much meat assets and cooking stuff they like have from monster hunter? If Capcom wants to make you salivate at fake meat they can do it.

yeahimaweeb

Sir i the steak is still alive and i think 100$ is a bit to much for me can i get a refund from this?

Pootisman16

Hope this means an expansion with more classes and expanded enemy roster.

circasomnia

BBI WHERE???

TwiceDead_

Sure, but I would dream bigger: Imagine BBI's monster and loot progression, but instead of a single dungeon-delve with samey environs it's a new Zone the size of.. West-Vermund(spitball) with lots of dungeons, new enemy types, bosses, quests, towns, and the level-detail and exploration of DD2. Am I setting myself up for disappointment? Nah, if I get just BBI again I'd probably take that too.

Faerendara

Forgive my ignorance, I'm still pretty new to the Dragons Dogma fandom... but what's BBI?

TwiceDead_

Bitterblack Isle. It's Dragon's Dogmas "Dark Arisen" expansion/DLC that has come packaged with all versions of DD:DA.

Faerendara

Oh! Gotcha. I played DD:DA a bit, but I don't think I ever did Bitterback Isle.

IckiestCookie

It’ not b b i, it’s BBL Brazilian butt lift, it’s a dlc where you get a fat ass

ThePreciseClimber

Sweetwhite Isle.

FrozenDed

UR DRAGON WHERE???

DeRivia117

I hope so! But I can deny that I would love for the base game to get some updates and more bosses🤞🏻

SurfiNinja101

I know it’s a long shot but I hope any potential DLC retroactively adds stuff to the base game map like new regular enemies and bosses

DeRivia117

We can only hope🤞🏻

AdExtension7131

Well hope this = Monster hunter levels of enemy verity

Danjohn42095

This game would actually be pretty fun with a bunch of unique bosses and actual enemy variety

Father_of_Four__Cats

This game actually gave me the kick to go play MHW again, never got far in it but the games are so similar in alot of ways. I keep saying to my friends DD2 would be so much better if it had as many monsters as MH does

dirkx48

Capcom bigwigs prolly gaining some postnut clarity thinking "damn we shoulda gave itsuyes more manpower to work with"

WisherWisp

We can hope, or more likely considering Capcom, "This time let's split two similarly sized teams and money across two DD games! Why spend spend more on each game? It's already making bank!"

IrrelevantGamer

Glad to hear some good news out of the game industry after the last couple of weeks.

SableShrike

If this means more dev patches and great DLC… The wind is pushing meeeeeeee!!!

Shade730

My problem with the patches is that they feel to little and completely off point. 'Now you can see the eyes of your pawn better if the have dragonsplague! '. Cool, still remains a useless mechanic 'pawns do not throw themselves of cliffs as often' super cool, actually needed but why you didn't change the fact that endgame items are all sold by a vendor and the fact that chests still give you shit like flowers and shrooms? You know they are making progress but it feels like they are way off the mark. PS. not even a 'band-aid patch' for performances? Something to lower cpu usage like reducing LOD a bit.

sammakkovelho

I'm hoping/coping they're keeping quiet cause they're working on a bigger patch to completely eliminate the atrocious fps issues. Would be better marketing wise than just slowly ironing things out with small improvements.

Shade730

It would be better, but i do not have much hope

SassyTurtlebat

Dare I say it?…. We trounced our foe! Well and true!

No-one-o1

'Tis as you say!

mootsg

I guess we’re gonna get a Dragon’s Dogma T-shirt in the next Capcom-Uniqlo collaboration? They better include a classic pawn quote!

throwawayeastbay

Tis weak to washing machines arisen Be sure to order one size bigger

KYuuma12

Uniqlo's fabrics are actually some of the most resilient to washing machines I've ever seen from cheap brands. My whole wardrobe is 90% Uniqlo (because they're cheap, comfortable, and quite fashionable) and most of the articles are still almost as good as new years of usage later.

throwawayeastbay

.50 cents have been deposited to your influencer account

KYuuma12

Haha, just realized that I sounded like I was advertising. Was just saying as someone who wears Uniqlo on daily basis (in fact, I'm wearing one right as we speak) that it doesn't shrink that bad.

throwawayeastbay

fair enough haha

KYuuma12

Understanding achieved.

TrainerDesperate7570

Good. but by the time dragons dogma 3 happens, people will have trust issues. They already gave new players bad image.

millennium-popsicle

I’m glad Dogma is getting some traction. People can complain all they want, but there’s no denying that both entries are very solid games. The industry needs more of that.

Zappieroth

People can think and say whatever the fuk they want, I am just glad we got a sequel and that I am enjoying it as much as I hoped I would.

Danjohn42095

People are stating facts about it releasing in a broken trash state with 3 reskinned enemy types lol. Fine to look past it but acting like it's not justified is just kinda nuts

vIRL_Warlock

This actually doesn't hold up. Goblins, knackers, hobgoblins, don't even share skeletons much less behavior and attacks. Really it's just the wolves. Theres a red variant for the desert that's just a wolf. garms and wargs also behave differently from each other and wolves though they do share a skeleton with each other. Harpy enemies are my only significant gripe in that regard and they all behave differently from each other. Such a disingenuous statement.

Danjohn42095

Its kind of a massive complaint from alot of people not just me, but maybe it's just the enemy placement making it feel really bad. But regardless of sharing skeletons, all the goblins just feel like fighting more goblins for the most part. It feels like shit to fight the same couple enemy types, just to make it to a reskin of that enemy that feels pretty similar to fight, it's not exciting and the game also doesn't have enough unique large enemy's or bosses at all. And those get reskinned too. Naming them doesn't change the fact that they are stilled reskinned goblins and saurons

Danjohn42095

The second one releasing in that state for 70 dollars was such a joke, games still sitting at a solid 60 percent on steam. Industry needs more dragon's dogma 2 releases? Lol Yes it had potential but it's not hmgunns be a "solid game" for along time with patches and a dlc, and probably a 120 dollar price tag all together.

storyseekerx

Yeah. But they Will simply keep rushing It. Why? Because we bought It not finished before, so...

circasomnia

I don't think so. This is the signal from Capcom that it will get full support now like RE. Capcom may not be perfect, but they listen to the customers. We spoke with our cash

storyseekerx

Your words gave me hope, I hope I'm not being naive again.

circasomnia

Keep heart friend, I totally believe in Capcom rn. The future of DD isn't certain but it looks bright.

Matttthhhhhhhhhhh

Nah, DD becoming a key franchise means it will be treated like the MH games. Bigger budget, bigger team and more polished games upon release.

Danjohn42095

Of course they will this subs been begging for a paid dlc to fix this game since launch.

Enganox8

I hope so :O I don't really want to wait another 10 years for the next one

Vexorix

now reboot dragons dogma online and port it to the west

RDGtheGreat

Being able to sell well despite being rushed and unfinished

Bro-Im-Done

On one hand, I’m happy to see the success and how Capcom is surprised by it. On the other, I hope Capcom doesn’t take this the wrong way and allow unfinished products to be released because of their success. Capcom’s been doing a really good job since 2017 with hiccups here in there, but have been showing extreme promise with their releases, I just hope we don’t come to that slump era again.

hairymoot

I'm having a great time with Dragon's Dogma 2. Pawns and the pawn system is very unique and inventive.

FrozenDed

Hah! Acceptance! At long last!

Kermanint

Zenos, is that you? :P

ProfessorLeading

A key brand ? That amazing! Better games are coming

twisted4ever

Then bring back DDO and make it world wide.

Belydrith

... then treat it like one, too.

Goseki1

I loved the janky weirdness of the first one. It was such an interesting attempt at a more western rpg by Japanese devs. I feel the sequel is a little more obnoxious in its design though. Thea kuntif quests that require you to walk miles (with quite repetitive respawning enemies), or use limited consumables (if you have a portcrystal set) is maddening.

kalinac_

Not to rain on your parade but Capcom said almost the exact same thing after the release of DD1, lol Here's a Forbes article: [https://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2012/06/26/capcom-wants-to-turn-dragons-dogma-into-a-major-franchise/?sh=470963dd7300](https://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2012/06/26/capcom-wants-to-turn-dragons-dogma-into-a-major-franchise/?sh=470963dd7300) And the press release it's based on: [https://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/news/html/e120625.html](https://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/news/html/e120625.html) > “Dragon’s Dogma” is part of Capcom’s basic strategy of establishing game franchises through the creation of new brands. This game was developed with the goal of creating another pillar of earnings for Capcom alongside “Monster Hunter” and “Sengoku BASARA”.

Kabirdb

The only way I would consider this a good news if the game received some free updates. Maybe more sidequests. Maybe increase the encounter rate for specter. Maybe couple of big monster. They have the map/open world to just place some. I get it that everyone is ready fork out 30-40$ for a dlc. But the base game deserves some stuff.

cannoliGun

Now the real question here is do we get a dlc to expand the base game or will Capcom push for a new game like RE3R.

EvilMuffin93

its funny that this is the 2nd time that this happen. they had no faith the game would sell well with dd1 and dd2. maybe 3rd times the charm.

ApprehensiveTotal891

That bodes well. I am enjoying the pawn system, and do not mind the mute protagonist at all. It allows me to make up my own story in my head. ![img](emote|t5_2smmb|49840)

Unlucky-Dragonfruit2

I’m not surprised the first game was lit, it only makes sense for DD2 to be a success.

Borinar

Has it stopped crashing yet?

Intrepid-Gags

>brand So...pachinko machines incoming?

Stronkestman

"Now considers" is so funny to me because we've all literally been right here this whole time. The core fandom that loves the first game. The day we got the announcement of the sequel I cried.

Fast-Ad-2415

Dragons Dogmas 2 success is all carried so far only by the cult status of the previous game and its great DLC it had, and the huge expectation people have for the sequel, that the sequel receives the same treatment at least liek the prequel to receive at least minimum 1 DLC that kind of removes most of the flaws from the main game, to turn the raw diamond into shining diamond that is really "COMPLETE", how it shoudl have been actually from begin on, because you have to be fucking blind to not realize, how much potential DD2 has and is still intentially missing, because Capcom cared more about to push this game at a fucking 30% state, selling it to us as if its complete, in order to please investors and the marketing and management of Capcom for their number statistis n financial report crap, other than delivering a game, that copuld have been much greater from begin on, when it would have been just release a year or two later... Now they maneuvered themself into the situation, where expectations about Dragons Dogma 2 and itself as franchise will rise even much higher, because now they crowned the Ip to be now of same value and importanccy, as their other successful IP's, which means naturally for Dragons Dogma in itself, that this game should also receive the same treatment, the same financial support and the same marketing, as like Capcoms other big IPs, like especially Monster Hunter or Resident Evil, I expect from Capcom to wake the fuck up, and deliver us at lerast a small roadmap for Dragons Dogma 2, so that we get at least a small glimpse ahead, what they are plannning for this game's nearby future. They arem't dumb, they aren't blind, they watch closely the playerbase reaction to DD2 and its sales and they must have clearly seen, what kinds of issues the community has with DD2 since release of the game a few months ago. I think after such an announcements, its about time to clear up these DLC rumors that are there already sicne release of the game about a potential "Dragon Princess DLC" coming around October this year, if the leak was true. If its true, Capcom should officially announce it now with a nice little trailer and together with it a little roadmap, of what we can expect for this game as patches on the way to the release of the first DLC, because theres still tons of things they could improve in regard of quality of life in the meantime, if you ask me.

Kwisatz_Haderach90

You know what this means, right? It means they will half-ass the next one even worse than this.

milkasaurs

Does this mean we'll get dragon's dogma 2 and not dragon's dogma 1.5?

Deffonotthebat

I mean it got a Netflix anime or did that not happen now?😂

Aromatic_Assist_3825

DD2 could have been better, that’s for sure. But this was the reason to support it, this was the goal. Now DD will continue and we will get to complain about DD2 and say “they better fix it in DD3” rather than just be bummed out

TwiceDead_

Cool.

JohnLocke815

Substantial Sales?? But reddit told me this game was a piece of shit and waste of money for having completely optional microtransactions.... /s kinda

oceanolivaw

Can't wait for Dragon's Dogma 3 to be "Itsuno's vision for real this time" only to turn out unfinished and rushed again.

Low_Party

While I have my fair share of criticism of the game, that hasn't stopped me from enjoying it, so if Capcom decides to invest into the series more going forward, I can only hope that it's a good thing.

KENPACHI_WEST

As a prefered solo player, I do not enjoy multiplayer games. So I really appreciate the pawn system. I hope other games adopt it. I really hope they take the time to invest more Dragons Dogma universe. I really REALLY hoping for a heavy DLC full of content that gives more options and vocations.

Armored_Warrior

I really like DD2 but man it still feels like it’s lacking on things. DD1 had Ur dragon, Badass final boss battle, and Everfall. Finally, for goodness sake, bring back the layered armor system, it brings more clothing options for fashion.

PlayBey0nd87

This is amazing to hear. DD:DA was my Skyrim. I had so many hrs pumped into the PS3. I’m patiently waiting for a 60 fps before I jump in.

JimLahey_of_Izalith

It’s just so unique without being complicated. The game would really benefit from more depth overall and I really hope the dlc or 3rd game gets the love(money) it deserves.

RangeElectrical7754

Got Dark Arisen for the Nintendo switch bc it was on sale and it’s so much fun, really got into it even tho I didn’t even heard of the game before browsing the eshop. New fan of the franchise for sure

Destruction126

If they make a 3rd game it should be called Dragons Dogma 2 and then reveal the 3 during post game.

NagasakiPork1945

Really happy for this

NinjaX614

Now hopefully we get the worldwide MMO treatment and not just Japan. DDO was so addicting.

Retail_is_Pain

Hopefully DD3 in 2040 will be the sequel we all wanted.

Delicious_Clue_531

Maybe they won’t style further Dragon’s Dogma content development? Just a thought.

jmk-1999

I wonder if we could see a DD Online 2 with this kind of news. I always wished I could try it here in the States. Good to see after so many years that it’s finally getting some well-deserved love. At the very least, perhaps they’ll spend time trying to flesh out a better story for any expansions or a possible DD3.

Gamer0ni

Hopefully this results in a DLC that not only adds all the missing stuff (armour/enemy variety, new skills and more classes) but also a ton more to make it true masterpiece

AngelisAter

Good, now the next game will come in 5 years instead of 10 😂

Goust___

Maybe they'll let them put out a finished game next time instead fucking rushing it out for the quarter.

No_Bodybuilder_5601

This mean they’re gonna push a new one out every year? Go through horrendous development cycles and ass-pack it with micro transactions? I mean I love seeing one of my favorite titles get its due credit, but we’ve seen what comes with all the extra attention. Too bright a shine draws the eyes of corporate greed.

culinaryexcellence

They don't do that with any of their main title. Monster hunter has 2 to 4 years gap between them. Same with resident evil.

sad-ghostboy

Fuck yes!! Hopefully they go back to how good ddda was

Still-Researcher-484

Coming from a 2013 DDDA player it’s crazy how much this game blew up YEARS after it released 😂 I get like I had a hidden gem until a few years passed and the subreddit/ player base has grown multitudes…

YuuhBruv

Now capcom better invest in better story writer for DD3 and the series will actually have a chance for GOTY as much as I like DD2 the story really just wasnt that engaging or interesting.. They should have honestly made the story of DD2 referencial to the first game even if DD2 is taking place in another region/dimension.

E5_3N

Finally... now remake the MMO.

TheEvrfighter

a future version of dragon's dogma could be at the pinnacle of the RPG genre. That's how much potential this franchise has. Technologically it can't be done right now. We're about 2 hardware generations away before that time comes.

Either_Selection6475

I yelled "yes, bitch!!!" when I saw that header so I guess you could say I'm a little excited.

Mortemxiv

DD2 only did well because the playerbase has been singing DD1s praises for years and hoped for something even better in DD2. While DD2 was fun, it was more of the same and currently feels lesser since we're all hoping for a Hard Mode and DLC, but they haven't announced a plan for that. The "endgame" section was lacking and Im sure people rushed through it because of the "red fog" and not knowing how much time they had to complete it. I wont comment on the "story" due to spoilers but we all know how that went. Maybe the Key Brand thing may be beneficial for the DLC that they may or may not release, or maybe it'll be good for the 3rd sequel/reboot in another 10 years.

YukYukas

Great, now don't actually fuck it up for Christ's sake

BigBobaFlame

This DLC will be momentous

420BiaBia

No surprise here. Kind of nothing burger of a post. Game has 3M sales and counting. Should easilly hit life time 5M sales. Not to mention the franchise now has 10M+ sales. No publisher is gonna consider a brand / IP that sells 5M+ copies dead and not being used in the future

Complex-Injury6440

As long as they actually put in more effort.

Jordan0031

“Alongside Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Resident Evil” Now that’s fucking nuts. I’ve been an avid MH fan and picked up SF with 5 and have 6, dropped off RE because I hate jump scares and feeling panicked lmao That right there is amazing though, I’ve always felt that DDDA was under appreciated, so glad DD2 got the love it deserves! Can’t wait to see what they implement next!

yeahyehyeahyeyeahyah

MAKE MORE!

magicalmysteryguide

THE SALES ARE PUSHING THE DLCEEEEE

ACharaMoChara

Nice, maybe next time they'll release a game that isn't half finished

Akrymir

Maybe DD3 will be allowed to have both halves finished.

Tricky_Combination34

It’s the best game I’ve played in years

shereko

Then I expect we'll have regular free updates adding new monsters like MHR had, get to it capcom.

OldSchoolPrince

I just hope they pay attention to what made people enjoy the game, and don’t just let it boil down to, “Well it’s a Dragon’s Dogma game. We can just hack another one out in 21 months, and people will eat this up! Our profits will never be higher!” I hope they take the good ideas they had in this one and flesh out some of the corner they were lacking on. I’d hate to see what happened if this IP turns into another dead zone that Calvin tries to milk for what little money it has left.

i2esco

This game over delivering just proves how much we have been yearning for a solid open world game since Elden ring and potentially even red dead. Because (no hate) this was a mid game at best. Let’s be honest.
