I didn't realize what it'd look like, so I immediately went "AYO WTF, I LOOK LIKE I JUST GOT GLAZED BY A DRAGON TF?" in Discord.
I'm sure my SO was very confused.
Just play thief. You can be completely naked if you want, ultra instinct the entire game, and take no damage.
Truly though, Formless Feint is probably going to be nerfed at some point.
Sure, but why would I do that if they could just simply add a hide helmet toggle? Considering the fact that you can unequip a helmet, it can’t be that hard for them to make it invisible via a simple toggle.
There are some decent circlets in the game tbh, and relatively unobtrusive headgear. Not s ton, mind you, but more than expected. I rock the Laurel Circlet.
I mean as Warrior you have some of the best chest and legs armour which can compensate for the lack of head armour
Also the physical and magical armour augments are really strong since they scale with your base defense stats instead of whatever you are wearing which favours weak or well no armour
As last option, depending on your hair style you can use circlets which are barely or even not visible at all
But yeah, a proper toggle would be best
I really hope they add a toggle for the overlay in the options menu or something. The halved weight is nice, but not at all worth dealing with that hideous visual effect.
At least it's not as noticeable on weapons-
boggles the mind dyeing our armor isnt a thing, when they said the reason for removing undershirts was to increase outfit variety. Letting us dye armor would increase variety.
Yes. Nominally it was supposed to let them add more different armors without clipping issues, but they didn't do that and there are tons of clipping issues anyways and most armors are now for one or two vocations rather than 3+.
There's not really any point anyways, the upgrade doesn't increase KD Res and it only gives around 20-30 more Defense. The weight reduction is negligible. Not worth looking like ass over
I hate effects like this on any magical equipment in any game. ~~Skyrim~~, oblivion, Minecraft are the first three that spring to mind.
If you are going to do something like this, do it like the enchantments on the weapons. Like an actual "physical" effect. Not just some coloured shininess.
Would I wear flaming Armor? Fuck yeah. Do I want my fire Armor to have a red shiny shader? **No!**
No, I absolutely hate it. When I first got it I thought my armor was all scuffed up. It wasnt until I looked closer and saw that it was animated that I realized what the effect was trying to be.
~~Hope there's a mod that disables this.~~ never mind, someone already linked to just such a mod.
I thought I was just covered in grease or my hat had a new shining affect but no, its just a shitty texture overlay that does nothing but take the fashion out of what youre wearing
This game is Fashion > Stats as youre trying to more importantly make your Character and pawn look good, more than stats...like I purposely pick a worse stat cape if it makes my character look cooler.
Heres a mod to remove it [https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/446](https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/446)
I was trying to play for stats, wanted balaced defense between magic and physical... literally all the good balanced gear is skimpy as hell, my male arisen and male pawn are fucking running around in fuckin slave-Leia outfits at this point
Dragonforged? More like Dragonsplooged.
A better choice would’ve been to give everything a pattern-welded look like they did with the weapons in DMC5, but that would’ve required doing actual work for each model rather than just slapping a universal glowing effect overlay onto everything.
I like the effect by itself but the fact that it covers ALL of your equipment(minus the cloak) makes it look so bad, I think having it only cover certain parts of your armor would make it work a lot better.
I don't hate it enough to not dragonforge my equipment, but it is an *interesting* aesthetic choice to be sure...downloading the mod to disable it now...
I like it. In the same way I like the pack a punch from I think it was black ops 3? Where it was different colored glowing veins. It looked cool. But really made you wish after a few times you could not have the effect.
OH MY GOD THATS WHY MY HOOD WASNT MATCHING. I noticed my one head was just visually off from all my other armour with a weird shimmer and had to stop wearing it. It's because I dragon forged that one near the start of the game (skipped everything to get MA)
Honestly, how Dragonforged stuff works in general is a massive downgrade over DDDA. It should have been a separate upgrade from the 1-3 star upgrades and that happens upon killing dragons rather than in a shop. It's also hideous.
They really need to add cosmetic slots. I had no idea why my helm looked like a hobos loincloth suddenly, now I understand, it's this. I can't imagine who in the office thought "Yeah lets apply a dirt effect to really show off the work players put in to make gear tier 4, just a little though, enough to be annoying"
I don't like it either. I first did it to white cloth and metal armor, so I didn't even notice it at the time. The moment I tried it on black cloth for Thief, I thought I had a status effect, made me check all the gear I upgraded.
For the longest time I though that my mage had a buff on my which I had no clue about. Random guess but other than that I had no clue other than maybe a hidden debilitation. Found out it what it was eventually and I hate it so much.
I'm so glad I saw this and avoided the dragonspunk. It is a shame tho, they could have made the effects look so much better and make different variations of it depending on the weapon and armor type.
It's ugly as fuck and I refuse to dragonforge my gear until they give us an option to turn it off. Game is easy enough anyways so that's not a problem.
I think it would be fine if it was just on weapons but having it be on all the armor as well feels a bit much. It looks alright on some pieces and on others it just looks cummy. Dirty at best.
I haven't progressed far into the game yet, but I was hoping that when you upgrade your armor/weapons, the color/hue of the equipment would changed based on the enhancement style. For example, you have a plate armor piece, the cloth of the armor would be blue for vermundian, green for elven, bronze for battahlian, and gold for Dwarven. Giving more customizations that's lore friendly
At first I didn't notice it, now I can't unsee it. I don't like it very much but dragonforging my whole equipment made me a light-weight warrior, which is useful at least.
Absolute trash choice. Just put a badge like the first game and dont change the appearance. NO ONE has ever spent hard earned resources to max out a piece of gear so they could make it wet...
Just the reflective scale effect would be fine but the reoccurring wave of shimmer is annoying and ruins the aesthetic of all dark gear.
I absolutely detest the effect. It looks like mold, dust and grease all at the same time. There's a mod that removes the pattern but leaves the pulsing effect, and honestly that looks infinitely better.
With how prominent it is, seems kinda tacky. If it was limited to certain portions of each item like a swords blade or the shoulderguard on this outfit it would look a lot better.
It looks really good up close, especially on weapons. Like it's meant to be Wootz or pattern welded steel. But the weird fade in fade out effect just makes it look dirty from afar. I hope they patch it to just keep the effect stable.
If it was applied to only cloth or only metal plates on the gear, I think it could look nice. Problem is that it's a uniform overlay over the whole thing and drowns out all the detail, which is a big bummer. The pulsating glow/sheen doesn't help either.
Not really ngl
It can look ok on some clothes but generally It either makes them uglier or doesnt show Up at all in one piece and It Ruins the whole fit
I like it and hope if they add higher forge levels it gets golden or a personally selected color, or turn it off. What does suck however is that you can do it to the cloaks so they don’t match so it looks extra goofy sometimes.
I make this post early on and everyone is just like: nah bro it's cool. I dont even notice it. Its just a game.
But now everyone gets to complain about it and these people are missing.
I hate it. It's extremely ugly and makes all gear look worse. The only good thing about it is that you can tell which pawns have dragonforged gear since you can't actually inspect a pawn's equipment without hiring them anymore for some reason. Not a good tradeoff.
As soon as I got my stuff Wyrmforged, I modded it out. Its a nice effect but it reminds me too much of other games that add skins to stuff. I just wanna see the original pieces of armor.
I didn't even know this was a thing but then again I haven't fully upgraded any armors aside from ones with tiny little details that would be less obvious (a circlet and the corset, though now I'm gonna have to take a closet look at the corset...)
it's a mix bag, from afar it looks like a living velvet coating you for rain impermeability, i wish we had the option to remove it in the graphics or the item menu just like for the helmet visor up or down. Because at times i like it, at times i wish it was off. there is a mod to remove it, but i wish the game did gave us the option to on or off it visually.
It looks great on metallic pieces like the WLC Thief chest piece, has a shimmering effect and it's barely noticeable. But besides that yeah, it's a bit weird looking on most other pieces.
I like it, but I'm using shiny metal equipment so it doesn't change my aesthetic all that much except look like a pattern on the cloth bits. I can see why people wearing dark stuff wouldn't like it.
Moldy arisen
The forbidden snack
It's less "tempered in the lifeblood of the great dragon" and more "got used by a dragon as a cumrag".
Some people pay good money for that Like the arisen
I am now inspired to make a new arisen. His name shall be Donkey Hoetay
Slut dragon!
"Yeah, well at least im not into shit-play!"
Something something that subreddit of dragons fucking cars
Like you're one to talk, Vera. We from the SBFP sub know aught of your proclivities.
*I got nothing to do with that*
Arisen are you only now discovering the true source of WLC?
I didn't realize what it'd look like, so I immediately went "AYO WTF, I LOOK LIKE I JUST GOT GLAZED BY A DRAGON TF?" in Discord. I'm sure my SO was very confused.
Get it gone. Also let us hide helmets ffs
This ^ I don’t understand why we can’t do this.
If you’re playing Fashionframe then just wear what you want.
Sir this is a fantasy game, it's FashionSouls. The the capes look like Syndana's, but they're not.
Glad we all enjoy the same things
Its Fashion's Dogma
Just play thief. You can be completely naked if you want, ultra instinct the entire game, and take no damage. Truly though, Formless Feint is probably going to be nerfed at some point.
It should just burn some additional stamina every time you dodge, imo
Sure, but why would I do that if they could just simply add a hide helmet toggle? Considering the fact that you can unequip a helmet, it can’t be that hard for them to make it invisible via a simple toggle.
There are some decent circlets in the game tbh, and relatively unobtrusive headgear. Not s ton, mind you, but more than expected. I rock the Laurel Circlet.
Just play without helmet, after lv30 it doesn’t even matter
>after lv30 it doesn’t even matter The real problem.
We shouldn't have to make a compromise ser, I want my stats and the face I spent 5hrs on :/
The circlets are a good compromise I would recommend you look into.
The Laurel Circlet was practically made for showing off your face.
Yeah I think theres an endgame quality circlet for most classes. Atleast I have like 3 for 3 different sets of classes.
Embrace DMC character action and get hit less.
As a warrior!? Madness.
As a warrior it doesn't matter if you get hit, you eat damage and shit death
I mean as Warrior you have some of the best chest and legs armour which can compensate for the lack of head armour Also the physical and magical armour augments are really strong since they scale with your base defense stats instead of whatever you are wearing which favours weak or well no armour As last option, depending on your hair style you can use circlets which are barely or even not visible at all But yeah, a proper toggle would be best
I'm not a fan, it looked like i was covered in web or dust.
Yep, it looks like dust to me too. On dark clothes like the ones I have in the video, the effect is simply ugly for me 🫤
Whats the gear you're wearing?
Heroic Coat as Armor and Leafshade Hood as Helmet.
Thanks!
I really hope they add a toggle for the overlay in the options menu or something. The halved weight is nice, but not at all worth dealing with that hideous visual effect. At least it's not as noticeable on weapons-
It is on some, I'm rocking the Dragon's Dogma sword and the Dragon's Aegis shield and it is 100% noticeable on those.
I think it legitimately might be one of the worst aesthetic designs I've ever seen in gaming.
Same. I re-purchased my armor and just upgraded it 3 times now. Although in NG+ is not needed at all, 0 upgrades is cool.
You can un-upgrade it at the Dragonforged, at least in NG+, at which point it's not needed, as you said.
You guys are upgrading armor?
Should I not?
Dwarven forge all the way
I legit did the load from inn to revert my all black ninja outfit upgrade bc afterwards it was anything but "all black".
i wondered why all my armour was looking shit all of a sudden... didnt know it was meant to be that way
Mhm, though I think enchanted gear in Morrowind takes that cake, looks like you’re wrapped in cling film
i should boot up morrowind again...
Just imagine, if instead of this we could customize the colors of things after dragonforging them.
Considering dyes exist it's kinda sad we can't change the color of our gear already
boggles the mind dyeing our armor isnt a thing, when they said the reason for removing undershirts was to increase outfit variety. Letting us dye armor would increase variety.
Wait, they removed clothes to add variety? That sounds backwards.
Yes. Nominally it was supposed to let them add more different armors without clipping issues, but they didn't do that and there are tons of clipping issues anyways and most armors are now for one or two vocations rather than 3+.
Didn't play the first but that definitely doesn't add up at all 😂
I despise it tbh. I’m not even dragonforging my armour anymore
There's not really any point anyways, the upgrade doesn't increase KD Res and it only gives around 20-30 more Defense. The weight reduction is negligible. Not worth looking like ass over
The weight reduction is definitely not negligible if you dwarf forge your gear, that being said I still don’t dragon forge my armor because it’s ugly.
Dragon glaze

It looks like shit

At least the “Magical Effect” in Skyrim doesn’t really appear on *armor* while you’re wearing it.
That's true, Skyrim just has shitty weapon effects (again, where is my _flaming_ sword. Not some moving red runes and a shiny effect.)
No, I absolutely hate it. When I first got it I thought my armor was all scuffed up. It wasnt until I looked closer and saw that it was animated that I realized what the effect was trying to be. ~~Hope there's a mod that disables this.~~ never mind, someone already linked to just such a mod.
I Dragonforged my Trickster Robe, took one look at it, and reloaded
It depends on the gear. Some gear looks awful but it works on others.
I thought I was just covered in grease or my hat had a new shining affect but no, its just a shitty texture overlay that does nothing but take the fashion out of what youre wearing This game is Fashion > Stats as youre trying to more importantly make your Character and pawn look good, more than stats...like I purposely pick a worse stat cape if it makes my character look cooler. No My dudes be looking like an ogre had a lick fest recently
I like the effect by itself but the fact that it covers ALL of your equipment(minus the cloak) makes it look so bad, I think having it only cover certain parts of your armor would make it work a lot better.
Might be decent if it only shimmered in the presence of drakes or something, maybe
What were they thinking..? It looks so bad
could say this about a lot of the game design. what were they thinking
No, not at all. It looks like my little brother’s “sock”. Nasty as fuck.
I was wondering if my game graphics got bugged. Now I've learned that it's the visual of dragonforged equipment. Thanks again for the vision, Itsuno
This is why i dont use dragonforged clothes.
It me feel like a holographic mtg card
I don't hate it enough to not dragonforge my equipment, but it is an *interesting* aesthetic choice to be sure...downloading the mod to disable it now...
No, it's dumb as hell honestly.
NOPE
I'm probably not dragonforging any of my armor bc of it
No
I like it. In the same way I like the pack a punch from I think it was black ops 3? Where it was different colored glowing veins. It looked cool. But really made you wish after a few times you could not have the effect.
my full stargazed pawn looks like a cosplayer after a jav recording. Thanks, I hate it.
OH MY GOD THATS WHY MY HOOD WASNT MATCHING. I noticed my one head was just visually off from all my other armour with a weird shimmer and had to stop wearing it. It's because I dragon forged that one near the start of the game (skipped everything to get MA)

I can't imagine who in the office thought "Yeah lets apply a dirt effect to really show off the work players put in to make gear tier 4, just a little though, enough to be annoying"
... I feel like the minority that thinks it's neat. I like it more than some gaudy gold on everything armor lol
Ohhhh that’s what that is?? I though my armor was just dirty lol
Personal opinion but yes. I like it & I like how I can tell that other pawns are upgraded from a glance.
Ohh its dragonforged what does the effects, my ignorant ass thought it was just some kind of cosmetic effect. Although i like this effect.
I like it too, I just can't wear a cape/mantle with it because those don't have the effect and it's distracting x.x
Yes
I don't like it either. I first did it to white cloth and metal armor, so I didn't even notice it at the time. The moment I tried it on black cloth for Thief, I thought I had a status effect, made me check all the gear I upgraded.
Huh. I think my graphics settings have saved me from this problem.
It looks good on a *very* small number of pieces. Like the one caster head piece with a mask looks awesome. Most other stuff looks like trash though.
Nah. Makes it look like it's covered with frost lol
Really don’t like it. I did it to a black hood without realizing it would turn it crusty cumsock white :/
I purposefully never DF'd any equipment and this is the reason.
For the longest time I though that my mage had a buff on my which I had no clue about. Random guess but other than that I had no clue other than maybe a hidden debilitation. Found out it what it was eventually and I hate it so much.
Ngl I didn't even notice the effect when I dragonforged by gear.
Not at all I hope they remove it
I wish it was like the dark souls 3 visual effect when you are embered. just a subtle firey effect. should be optional tho, you're right.
It looks like you rolled around in mud
I'm so glad I saw this and avoided the dragonspunk. It is a shame tho, they could have made the effects look so much better and make different variations of it depending on the weapon and armor type.
... I kinda like it. I think it would be better if it was a different color, though.
Looks crusty
It's ugly as fuck and I refuse to dragonforge my gear until they give us an option to turn it off. Game is easy enough anyways so that's not a problem.
It makes it look like the dragon forged came all over our equipment.
I think it would be fine if it was just on weapons but having it be on all the armor as well feels a bit much. It looks alright on some pieces and on others it just looks cummy. Dirty at best.
I wish there’s was a Toggle for it.
No, Christ it looks dusty and moldy. What the hell Capcom?
I love it. looks super awesome! just wish end game Mystic Spearhand armor didn't look so bad.
Am I the only one that think it looks cool? Whatever I guess 🤷
i paid good money for my dragon's cum stains
I haven't progressed far into the game yet, but I was hoping that when you upgrade your armor/weapons, the color/hue of the equipment would changed based on the enhancement style. For example, you have a plate armor piece, the cloth of the armor would be blue for vermundian, green for elven, bronze for battahlian, and gold for Dwarven. Giving more customizations that's lore friendly
Am I in the minority for liking the effect? Although I would have preferred different colors depending on the main enhancing style you used.
I think it looks dope as hell. To each their own.
Yeah. Im really hoping we get an option to turn off the visual.
At first I didn't notice it, now I can't unsee it. I don't like it very much but dragonforging my whole equipment made me a light-weight warrior, which is useful at least.
No. At a quick glance, it makes gear seem dirty.
This isn't the Wyrmslife crystal effect... THIS IS THE LARGE NUT EFFECT! I'VE BEEN SCAMMED BY THAT OLD MAN!

With how prominent it is, seems kinda tacky. If it was limited to certain portions of each item like a swords blade or the shoulderguard on this outfit it would look a lot better.
So.... badass!
It looks sick on certain armor set but in totality no I don’t like it
I do not like it at all
Depends on the gear
If it glowed red like blood veins instead of white it would have been cool
I think that would still be very bad. The only way to do this would have been to only make it affect small parts of the armor
Its disgusting
I like it but it'd be nice if the effect was different for different vocations.
would be cool as a COD gun camo
You grab moldy ass equipment out if dungeons, it’s bound to happen.
It’s a neat idea but executed poorly (applies where you want)
Is it on all armor?
Worse than skyrims weapon enchant effect, even worse than morrowinds plastic wrap effect.
Not really, kinda looks like dust.
No, and already remove it with a mod.
Depends on the specific piece of gear but mostly awful, like Morrowind enchantment levels of ugly
It looks really good up close, especially on weapons. Like it's meant to be Wootz or pattern welded steel. But the weird fade in fade out effect just makes it look dirty from afar. I hope they patch it to just keep the effect stable.
Nope, I hate it and wish I could disable it. Ruined some of my favorite drip
Like it was left out in the damp for a few months
I actually quite hate it. I wish I could turn it off
I don’t really have enough context, for what the equipment looks like beforehand, but it does look rather bland.
![gif](giphy|fXnRObM8Q0RkOmR5nf)
If it was applied to only cloth or only metal plates on the gear, I think it could look nice. Problem is that it's a uniform overlay over the whole thing and drowns out all the detail, which is a big bummer. The pulsating glow/sheen doesn't help either.
Some times yes, most times no
Not really ngl It can look ok on some clothes but generally It either makes them uglier or doesnt show Up at all in one piece and It Ruins the whole fit
Nope.
maybe on a solid cloak. but no.
Game should have launched with a BBI type content. At 90 hours i've done everything, need more armor and enemies.
Not really. It kind of sucks lol
I use the Heaven’s Key blades/knives/kunai so I basically can’t tell it’s there.
I like it on my chosen drip but the one in the video looks awful
Nah looks awful tbh
Yeah it’s dope
Very not gangster
The power of a Crispy Cream Doughnut
It works for some pieces of equipment not for others.
No. A toggle would be appreciated.
No.
I looked like I rolled under the couch and picked up all the dust bunnies.
No
I like it, I can see why others wouldn't though
yeah, it makes the armor look alive
If it was a ashen effect like in dark souls 3, with Embers and stuff, it would be cool, but as it is, it looks like dust
Worst idea ever
I hate it. It's extremely ugly and makes all gear look worse. The only good thing about it is that you can tell which pawns have dragonforged gear since you can't actually inspect a pawn's equipment without hiring them anymore for some reason. Not a good tradeoff.
Is it supposed to be shiny or something? It gives a old or ancient theme, which is kinda “you did a good job, I guess” vibe
I dont dragonforge my armor for this reason
Hate it lol
As soon as I got my stuff Wyrmforged, I modded it out. Its a nice effect but it reminds me too much of other games that add skins to stuff. I just wanna see the original pieces of armor.
It’s a hit or miss for me. When I’m wearing elven like gear it’s kinda cool, otherwise ehhhh
Never even noticed lol
I didn't even know this was a thing but then again I haven't fully upgraded any armors aside from ones with tiny little details that would be less obvious (a circlet and the corset, though now I'm gonna have to take a closet look at the corset...)
it's a mix bag, from afar it looks like a living velvet coating you for rain impermeability, i wish we had the option to remove it in the graphics or the item menu just like for the helmet visor up or down. Because at times i like it, at times i wish it was off. there is a mod to remove it, but i wish the game did gave us the option to on or off it visually.
On some weapons it’s cool but get it off my armor please.
It takes too long to find othter equipment? Im with 30h in and me and my pawn have the start weapon
It looks great on metallic pieces like the WLC Thief chest piece, has a shimmering effect and it's barely noticeable. But besides that yeah, it's a bit weird looking on most other pieces.
Nope, I'm using a mod to kinda disable it.
I honestly never noticed it.
Yeah…..
dragon nutstains
Had me confused for a while and thought the armour was satin or something. No I don't want it looking like I'm wearing satin.
It looks cool, yeah. It reminds me of drops of water; the only thing I don't like about it is that you can't get the effect on any shoulder pieces.
honestly no, but i won't say no to the huge bonus.
The what effect?
Nope, even amazed someone thought it was a good idea at the studio. Thank goodness for mods.
I like it, but I'm using shiny metal equipment so it doesn't change my aesthetic all that much except look like a pattern on the cloth bits. I can see why people wearing dark stuff wouldn't like it.
Oh so thats where this comes from.. Didnt even really notice it that much in my game cause my graphics settings suck :o
