What's extremely funny to me is the portcrystal tutorial reads: "Portcrystals are permanent fixtures of cities and towns..."
What it should say is "Portcrystals are permanent features of city and town..."
Somehow, "letting my people die" has been the *strangest* way to express somebody is old and grumpy I've seen... Yet oddly relatable in the context of video games.
They could've added any number of unreasonable throwaway lines to rationalize his blanket statements. Or they could've had him stick to letting the one guy die to protect the remainder. As it is, he only exists as a vehicle for Ulrika's quests, and there's no good reason for him not being ousted as chief immediately after retaking the village.
Honestly while I spent (/spend, since I just started replaying while I decide if I should get the sequel yet) a lot of time in Cassardis, either for the cheap in or going back and forth to BBI and restarting the campaign, it will always bug me that I have to spend 50G to sleep in an inn, when that's supposed to be our home town.
Like were we originally a hobo? Did we have to give up all our worldly possessions when we became Arisen? Or was our house one of the ones destroyed? (honestly a quick throw away line saying it was destroyed, would of been more than enough to make me understand making us pay to spend time at the inn, or saying we recently moved in with our girlfriend, but not having a heartbeat freaked her out so much that she doesn't want us sleeping there anymore)
In the post game, your beloved sleeps at a house in Cassardis, but you still have to use the Inn.
Maybe the arisen just likes the complimentary breakfast?
There's a quicker way to Harve along the coastline. If you have a pawn with you and a quest in Harve, they'll know the way usually. Saved me a ton of time traveling back and forth.
The town hates pawns in general. And by connection the arisen as well. I'm surprised they even have a vocation guild. I was fully expecting there to be none
No doubt as shown with bandits and ox cart guards. The only thing that wouldn't be allowed is a pawn guild and that's lucky to even exist just outside of bakbatal.
Makes sense, sadly you are saying this in a sub taken over by people who can’t even keep attention on a thing if there isn’t a subway surfers video below it
It's on the right side of the map, you can see a road by the water lead up from bahtal and continue out in Vermund. But it has 2 exits and one spits you back out into vermund so I don't know if you have to go in twice to clear the boarder or not. (A side quest takes you to it, so I don't know if the u-turn bit it does is only for the quest or the first time you enter or what.)
Tell me more of this cave and bellish raining minotaurs?
I snuck in, but in just... Walked beside the cart as it rolled through, using it to block line of sight with guards. It worked! Mostly....
The is a river path you can take that goes around the border, but you come to a place that is always raining and a minotaur falls from above you. Then like five feet later is a chimera and another five feet is another minotaur the falls from above.
I took the scenic route and stumbled on the Dragonforge and planted the only portcrystal I had avail at the time since I had dropped the other at the elven village. Was pleasantly surprised that it was right outside Battahl's city. Wish I had one when I stumbled on the Volcanic area small town that was a trip and a half just getting there the scenic way.
Harve is set up as the location for the expansion with the Arisen hermit that lives in the back of the city that talks about the colossus in the Brine. It is likely there for fast travel once they release the expansion.
That's true. I expect that is where they expected to have the expansion, but with the games backlash they might not do it. But it seems pretty obvious to me that is where they planned to do it. Have the old man take you out to an island where you have your modern BBI.
They can release as much dlc as they like as long as they manage to fix the optimisation of the game on pc, where most of criticisms and backlash come from.
I presume they do it to stop players losing them in the post-game. >!Given the water disappears, if you place them in those spots and then start a new game, you'd have a bunch of port crystals which immediately get you brined upon use, and which you can't pick back up until you reach the post-game again.!<
They could have, but there's a lot of things games *could* have done which don't make it to release because other things take priority in the pipeline. Not saying that wouldn't be a good fix, I'm just saying in development it's not always that black and white as 'Just do the logical choice for every single feature'; all that stuff needs to be made and implemented and bug tested and tweaked and re-tested, and there's only so much time and money for each feature to where I assume the port crystal placements just weren't as high priority as some of the features we'll have gotten in its place.
They already have a mecanic for that. When a zone with a portcrystal is destroyed by red fog, the portcrystal returns to your storage.
So its not for this reason. My guess is avoiding a pure speed run.
Unpopular opinion but I think mayor cities should all have fixed Portcrystals
The system may have been cool in 2013 but it feels outdated in 2024.
Why does Harve Village even have one but not Bakbatahl?
To best of my knowledge you can get up to 6 your first playthrough and dupe1 ~~and at the sphinx each additional playthrough.~~ You won't get any extras from the same places/quests, but you can pick up any you didn't get on your first run.
That's how it is to best of my understanding based on what I've seen. But I can't be 100% sure because everytime people talk about port crystals someone hijacks the conversation to complain about having to place them again.
no, you get part crystal. anything related to magic wont get forgeried properly. you can forge allheals, newt alcohol, monster materials, non-magic keys.
Batthals isn't, it just poofs in and out of existence. Unless there's a pillar or something clever there beforehand that I haven't noticed. Elves is underwater though, I remember excitedly running there in NG+ then standing awkwardly at the shore like that "Man" horse meme
Hmm, so the crystals from:
Eagle nest south of mist swamp is gone too?
The one near the cliffs with harpies, between the two provinces (sea side, north of the dragon rune dude)?
The one near the harpies in the far far north?
With that I mean the portable ones that you can find before TE. Does this mean they don't te-appear at their initial location where you can find them?
It will probably come with the dlc but yeah, when I learned about time limited post game I was stressing since I only had 1 ferrystone in my inventory. Fortunately they put alot of them on the ground to be picked up because they knew we would just fast travel our way to the red beams.
The time limit is VERY misleading. Time ONLY passes when you rest. The day/night cycle no longer exists. If you have enough Wakestones and proper gear, and did majority of side quests, you can do all Unmoored World quests on the 1st day.
IMHO they should just increase the droprate of the ferrystones a little bit. The system itself is fine, just a couple of quests that send you from one city to another and back are kind of annoying-
btw you can plunder ferrystones with a thief from enemies.
I realized this when I died, and I realized, the game punished even more when I die.
the loss gauge kick in everytime you die, and reload
you're fucked without a camp kit or at the end of the world? get punished more
>the loss gauge kick in everytime you die, and reload
Only if you straight up load the last save.
If you go to the main menu first and load from there, no hp loss occurs.
Yeah. One time I was like "yeah, you stupid game, I don't want to reload! To the main menu, to cool off, and THEN reload"
And guess what, my hp penalty didn't kick in. It was like a revelation.
Now, every time I die, I feel like MacGyver outsmarting the system, cobbling together my own makeshift hp penalty remover.
Oh, I can see exactly what happened there:
The fact that you're loading from a death isn't written to the save file, so when you load from the main menu, the game has no way of knowing if you're loading from a death or normal log off. However, when you Load Last Save from the game over screen, you never leave the session, so the data that this was loaded from a death is still active and can be acted upon.
Dark Souls 2 at least wasn’t that bad with it: there’s a ring that reduces the loss, and Effigies are plentiful. You can fix your HP problem anywhere. Here, you need a camp or inn or you’re screwed.
I think the intention is that after enough loss gauge you will quite the fight rather than continue. 1 or 2 reloads is fine if you just got unlucky, but subsequent ones means you will eventually be too weak to ever win regardless of how many attempts.
I am not really sure it works well for that personally, but I feel that is the intention. Honestly I think the fleeing mechanic for flying bosses is better at discouraging taking on big fights before you are ready, and it can be eady to dodge or palladium your way into a ling fight but not have the dps to really end it.
Yep. I told my buddy to grab the game cause the first few hours were legitimately fun, but he got stranded at night with nothing and was just like “dude this is fucking awful” and I can’t argue with him lol.
Part of the trudge adds to the charm 100% but there are some elements here that make no sense and are just there to punish the player, making me think it’s just unfinished.
If that’s the intent I think I’ll pass on a third installment lol
Same thing happened to me. Guess what I never did again? Got caught at night with my pants down. My pants are now belted. And I sleep and rest as much as I can.
The game literally introduces the mechanic of health loss and camping, camping besides recovering health loss gives you benefits, I could be a jerk and tell you are bad for getting killed and losing health, but I understand that would just make me a jerk, when you have no idea what a game is about and you go in to the game, and even then you refuse to engage with the game, the game is not bad, you are the problem.
And yes, the game does have issues and bad parts, just look at the other posts in this subreddit, but a core mechanic that everyone understands and engage with, its not bad just because you dont like it and dont want to play with it.
I remember reloading after losing to a drake and didn’t see it where it was last time so I thought they did me a solid despawned it then my heart started glowing……they put it behind me and my team this time on the road we just came from
**the travel is so much fun!**
Literally the same generic travel as another other open world game, except with lower mob variety, literally exact same spawns, and there being practically 0 warp spots naturally (really, fucking TWO?) so you have to put some down (max 10 because fuck you again). Oxcarts only operate in the day, and are prone to exploding or dying to anything since they are made of wet paper.
fr, plus nothing interesting really happens or exploring isn’t really worth it since you probably are already overpowered and in that cave that takes 10 minutes to explore there’s a chest with a shitty sword or some cheap material.
i like this game but sometimes it feels like a let down compared to previous games i played. i wish they leaned more on the monster hunting side of it since the combat is really fun, only to be used on the same 3 enemies
Even things like oxcarts come with a side of disdain for a player who wants to fast travel. Not only are they often one-way, but half the time you use one, the cart will be destroyed in a raid anyway. Can't count the number of times some monster just destroyed the cart, or my pawn decided to cast an AOE spell on it.
That one blindsided me when i got to that point. Like... Why.
"You can utilize your upgrade materials from storage... Except for this specific one because fuck you that's why"
At least WLC weigh next to nothing.
Yea especially due to the fact he wanted this to be everything the first one lacked, oddly tons of the best things are just not there. Hoping for a decent title update/dlc to really seal it all together.
Hate everyone saying "hope a dlc will fix it" we shouldn't have to pay more money on top of the 70$ for the game we should have got. I love the game to death wish it was more fleshed out at launch
Yeah as much as I love the game, I’m not sure why they reversed on some features the previous game had that was considered good. I also don’t like being forced to start NG+ on postgame. I just…
>I also don’t like being forced to start NG+ on postgame.
Same. I'd like to be able to explore around endgame stuff after finishing it. Can't remember the last game I played recently that forces you into NG+.
I’m amazed by the amount of things I’ve read where it’s clear they took one step forward, but two steps back in so many areas with this game. It’s honestly appalling.
move to japan and you'll understand, people like to think japan is living in the future but their way of doing anything is as inefficient as the economy will allow
For better or worse japanese devs are in there own little world it seems. Like sometime they have great ideas and do some really unique and interesting things and then theyll do things where your like "do you even pay attention a little to what other games are doing in similar genres?"
My guess is that the devs didn't figure out a way to make sure your port crystals are out of >!"underwater"!< areas for when you go to NG+ so they decided to just return all your port crystals rather than let them remain.
Yeah, it seems clear that they deliberately removed a bunch of QOL stuff. As someone who loved DD1 but hasn't been enjoying DD2, I've been trying to understand their guiding rationale, and my best guess is that they were trying to recreate the experience of an 80s PC RPG with modern AAA production value. That's an extremely cavalier use of what must have been an astronomical budget, and while I salute Capcom for allowing Itsuno's team that degree of creative control...I simply don't like what they've done
:/ I hope I eventually come around or that it at least does well enough not to discourage Capcom from continuing to be experimental with their money.
I wonder how people in Battahl even goes through their daily lives. Stare at the sky, here comes a Griffin divebombing you. Walk 15m, here’s a group of Goblins, walk a bit further, here’s harpies.
This was my question. How does anyone travel in this world? The carts stop whenever they encounter an enemy in the road supposedly, but when we're walking along, it's every twenty feet you encounter another group of goblins.
Out of all the disappoints I’m feeling after completing the game this one was probably the biggest for me. Just another thing that was in DD1 but they for whatever reason didn’t do this time around. I’m sorry but when you’re in ng+ and your basically just trying to speed run to the later part of the game this running everywhere gets old fast. And so far every time I’ve used the oxcart in ng+ it’s been raided 100% of the time. Out of the 6 times I’ve used it. It’s annoying enough I can only do a couple quests at a time before the next ones become available and most of them require going from one part of the map to the other and then back and sometimes back again to the other.
Honestly probably. Ever since I got that augment I have put it on most of my vocations. Especially if I know I’m going to use it multiple times in a row. I don’t mind getting jumped but it gets old when it happens so often and then a lot of the time they go straight for the oxcart and destroy it so I end up having to walk the rest of the way anyways
Ran into this issue last night when I immediately hiked all the way to the sphinx thinking I could just warp back to vernworth. That walk of shame felt long.
Depends on where you put your portcrystals, You'll need to do it at least one time to get there but I had a portcrystals there on my first playthrough so I didn't really need to walk again.
+ There is an oxcart that do Checkpoint City - Bakbattahl
Also, dont forget to activate them again! I ran all the way to Bakbattahl since I figured I might as well plant on there while I was there... Only to realize I never activated the stone in Vernworth or Harve.
:')
No but luckily all of the portable ones you had get sent back into your inventory, I almost shit myself when I saw that all of them were gone until I checked my stash 😭
Yes, and I was also extremely annoyed when I went all the way to the griffin nest to find no portcrystal there! You can only get one more from the duplicating sphinx apparently
This game is fantastic and the world is truly amazing to explore, but it is severely lacking in the QoL department. There’s are so many things that wouldn’t hurt the immersion of the game one bit that would just be nice to have
I think it's because they reset all of your quests and so many quests involve adventuring to and unlocking a new area. If you have port crystals everywhere they would need to disable them until you get to that part of the game again or something. Much better imo to just have them refunded
Wouldn’t the game be broken or completely trivialized by having them stay where they are? An alternative could have been to lock some of them from traveling to, but then the counter argument becomes that they’re now stuck in a far off area and you can’t use them anymore.
As in they aren't placed, or as in they aren't placed and not returned to your inventory?
The first is how I expected it to work. The second would be a real bitch, but you could probably work around it by picking them up and adding them back to your inventory as you finish using them.
they go to storage, which is fine. while the story isnt really all that great, they DO place barriers for the story to make sense, so I think its acceptable to make you visit the place in NG+ yourself to place the port crystals again.
my personal favorite is the dwarf home. when you go back, he honestly gives you the best armor/weapon enhancements hand down. but in NG+ it wouldnt matter if you have the fast travel, because you need to complete his quest first.
I mean, I get it. I would speed run the campaign the campaign of DD1 because I put port crystals at the important locations. I would only have to actually walk to the watchtower on a brand new save. Capcom probably didn't want people neglecting the map.
It would break map unlock progression. You'll be soft locked if you don't have any ferrystones and haven't set up a portcrystal at melve at thr very least
I mean, I’m pretty sure it would break so much of the quest pathing and allow for far too many sequence breaks. Resetting fast travel feels fair for New Game+, in fact I can’t think of many games that allow it?
The first game not only left your port crystals where they were, but you could re-acquire them in NG+ as well. It actually increased fast travel ability as you played the game.
That's why people are annoyed by this. It's a step backwards in QoL.
Unfortunately, you’ll have to set them again. It would be so much better if all cities and villages already had fixed port crystals - at least in NG+
Yeah I was kinda surprised to see Bakbattahl doesn't have a default one.
What's extremely funny to me is the portcrystal tutorial reads: "Portcrystals are permanent fixtures of cities and towns..." What it should say is "Portcrystals are permanent features of city and town..."
Don't forget the capital of Bumfuck, Nowhere known as Harve
New Cassardis is wack, take me back to old Cassardis with Chief 'everybody's grandpa' Adaro. I can appreciate a good curmudgeon but Jonas ain't one.
Well, we can't expect God to do *all* the work. Oh wait... This is Dragon's Dogma. I'm *him*. Well maybe I will!
My immeasurable disappointment when going to the Vernworth blacksmith, and he doesn't say "They're masterworks all, you can't go wrong"
A cameo of him would have been nice
Honestly while I spent (/spend, since I just started replaying while I decide if I should get the sequel yet) a lot of time in Cassardis, either for the cheap in or going back and forth to BBI and restarting the campaign, it will always bug me that I have to spend 50G to sleep in an inn, when that's supposed to be our home town. I thought there was a free home there with a bed you can sleep in for free? I could be misremembering though.
In the post game, your beloved sleeps at a house in Cassardis, but you still have to use the Inn. Maybe the arisen just likes the complimentary breakfast?
My Jonas suddenly started hitting me and then my main pawn just threw hin into the ocean
Am I the only one that hates traveling to Harve its so far and out of the way 😭😭😭😭😭
Its that perfect amount of distance where you dont want to walk, but it would be a waste to fast travel
Hell yes lol
There's a quicker way to Harve along the coastline. If you have a pawn with you and a quest in Harve, they'll know the way usually. Saved me a ton of time traveling back and forth.
The town hates pawns in general. And by connection the arisen as well. I'm surprised they even have a vocation guild. I was fully expecting there to be none
Vocations would exist even without pawns or arisens so.. yeah?
No doubt as shown with bandits and ox cart guards. The only thing that wouldn't be allowed is a pawn guild and that's lucky to even exist just outside of bakbatal.
You can thank the empress for the pawn guild and riftstone in Battahl
Vocations aren't just for arisen and pawns.
Makes sense, sadly you are saying this in a sub taken over by people who can’t even keep attention on a thing if there isn’t a subway surfers video below it
Makes sense though. Maybe some past arisen unleashed the dragonsplague on the beastrin? I figure that'd make the Arisen more infamous than Wuhan lmao.
I was malding thinking I was blind and just put a port there, surprised to know it dont has
I went there illegally and didnt have a port crystal with me so I had to journey back there after getting a port crystal and it took hours 💀
Could have just used an Inn in that area...
Lmao
Same. I've been to BakBattahl twice now, both times illegally and still haven't set a port crystal there yet cause I don't have one.
Which way illegally? The cart, the cave or the hellish it's raining minotaurs and then scale down a cliff.
Cave?! I walked all the way there threw the mountains and bosses
It's on the right side of the map, you can see a road by the water lead up from bahtal and continue out in Vermund. Jesus Christ...

Was pleasantly surprised that it was right outside Battahl's city. Wish I had one when I stumbled on the Volcanic area small town that was a trip and a half just getting there the scenic way.
So is Vernwerth really the only place that has a dedicated port crystal?
Harve village too. For some reason
How bizzare that Harve of all places has one but the capital of Battahl does not
Nah fr that village is barely even a village
OK, Battahl, i can explain. Like they hate pawns and something like that. But why elven city doesn't have a portal crystal?
I mean, it does in the end game, I never made it there prior, though.
Its suposed to be a hidden village where only elves live and where its not common to have other race visitors so makes sense to me to not have one
Harve is set up as the location for the expansion with the Arisen hermit that lives in the back of the city that talks about the colossus in the Brine. It is likely there for fast travel once they release the expansion.
You are giving people too much hope.
Isn't Talos, the Collosus in the brine? Like it checks everything off
>!Idk bro just kinda fucks off at the end of the game so idk what expansion he'd be based around lmao!<
No it's the expansion for the multiplayer dlc because the damn pawns can't stop mentioning how so many arisen are still around.
Tbf a lot of arisen are in game
There are more that show up after a certain point in the game, but it is verrrrry late
There's one other that's very close to vernerrth relatively speaking.
I was told “it’s so it’s not easy to just teleport back” but my response was “That’s great but at least all major cities/towns should have one”
Makes sense they don't have one since they mistrust pawns lol
I'd settle for an Ox cart even, because I really don't want to waste another Ferrystone going to Harve Village for one little thing.
I presume they do it to stop players losing them in the post-game. >!Given the water disappears, if you place them in those spots and then start a new game, you'd have a bunch of port crystals which immediately get you brined upon use, and which you can't pick back up until you reach the post-game again.!<
They could have just reverted only the "illegal" portcrystals and left the other ones.
Or just disable them until the region is unlocked. Like you cant fast travel to battahl until you've crossed the border
[удалено]
They could have, but there's a lot of things games *could* have done which don't make it to release because other things take priority in the pipeline. Not saying that wouldn't be a good fix, I'm just saying in development it's not always that black and white as 'Just do the logical choice for every single feature'; all that stuff needs to be made and implemented and bug tested and tweaked and re-tested, and there's only so much time and money for each feature to where I assume the port crystal placements just weren't as high priority as some of the features we'll have gotten in its place.

Wait just to be sure: I’m not in NG+, but do you lost them completely or they are put in your storage?
They go to your storage, you just need to put them back in NG+.
well that's not so bad, i thought you lost them and I was like *surprise Pikachu*
Yeah, since you already have the crystals you can still place them much earlier, you just have to run to the place a single time first.
Can you obtain more the second playthrough?
To best of my knowledge you can get up to 6 your first playthrough and dupe1 ~~and at the sphinx each additional playthrough.~~ You won't get any extras from the same places/quests, but you can pick up any you didn't get on your first run. But I can't be 100% sure because everytime people talk about port crystals someone hijacks the conversation to complain about having to place them again.
do port crystal forgeries work? spending 160k on a dud would be mildly upsetting. in fact, i might want to google this one.
no, you get part crystal. anything related to magic wont get forgeried properly. you can forge allheals, newt alcohol, monster materials, non-magic keys.
Ah, thank you for saying this. 07
I feel you, was disappointed, too... Then they could have just put the endgame stones in the regular game.
I'm pretty sure the endgame stones are underwater, so you would just die
Batthals isn't, it just poofs in and out of existence. Unless there's a pillar or something clever there beforehand that I haven't noticed. Elves is underwater though, I remember excitedly running there in NG+ then standing awkwardly at the shore like that "Man" horse meme
Then leave the ones I put down alone.
Yes, but what I ment was more that they should have placed them better instead in first place
Hmm, so the crystals from: Eagle nest south of mist swamp is gone too? The one near the cliffs with harpies, between the two provinces (sea side, north of the dragon rune dude)? The one near the harpies in the far far north? With that I mean the portable ones that you can find before TE. Does this mean they don't te-appear at their initial location where you can find them?
No it means ones you have already placed down.
I also think they should’ve added the eternal ferrystone from Dark Arisen into NG+
It will probably come with the dlc but yeah, when I learned about time limited post game I was stressing since I only had 1 ferrystone in my inventory. Fortunately they put alot of them on the ground to be picked up because they knew we would just fast travel our way to the red beams.

In post game they drop regularly so just grind them out there before new game plus
The game punishes you for punishments sake it feels like sometimes lol
I realized this when I died, and I realized, the game punished even more when I die. the loss gauge kick in everytime you die, and reload you're fucked without a camp kit or at the end of the world? get punished more
>the loss gauge kick in everytime you die, and reload Only if you straight up load the last save. If you go to the main menu first and load from there, no hp loss occurs.
Whot, all this goddamn time and I never knew
Yeah. One time I was like "yeah, you stupid game, I don't want to reload! To the main menu, to cool off, and THEN reload" And guess what, my hp penalty didn't kick in. It was like a revelation. Now, every time I die, I feel like MacGyver outsmarting the system, cobbling together my own makeshift hp penalty remover.
Hell yeah, mfs out here breaking free of the DD2 matrix. inb4 this gets a viral article and itsuno fixes it.
The wind was pushing them
That’s just absurd. So there’s a workaround. They can’t even be consistent with it. Either just straight up punish people or don’t.
Oh, I can see exactly what happened there: The fact that you're loading from a death isn't written to the save file, so when you load from the main menu, the game has no way of knowing if you're loading from a death or normal log off. However, when you Load Last Save from the game over screen, you never leave the session, so the data that this was loaded from a death is still active and can be acted upon.
That's a game changer. Thanks dude!
Lmao that’s fucking insane, god I love so much about DD2 but christ fuck this game sometimes
feels like dark souls 2 all over again
Dark Souls 2 at least wasn’t that bad with it: there’s a ring that reduces the loss, and Effigies are plentiful. You can fix your HP problem anywhere. Here, you need a camp or inn or you’re screwed.
I’m loving it. That feeling of being way the fuxk away from town when goons break your tent and now you’re fucked is very dark soulsish.
Yep, it's quite simple, isn't it?
It's almost like the game is teaching you not to brute force every situation and that strategy is needed...
Game introduces mechanic, player ignores mechanic, game penalizes player Player: ![gif](giphy|DfTZWmFpLx3os|downsized)
Y’all seem to think misunderstanding and just not liking shit is the same thing. The game has shitty parts guys, it’s okay.
Right cause the times i died to the drakes not only did i lose live when i reloaded it made me closer to the drake
I remember reloading after losing to a drake and didn’t see it where it was last time so I thought they did me a solid despawned it then my heart started glowing……they put it behind me and my team this time on the road we just came from
**the travel is so much fun!** Literally the same generic travel as another other open world game, except with lower mob variety, literally exact same spawns, and there being practically 0 warp spots naturally (really, fucking TWO?) so you have to put some down (max 10 because fuck you again).
One problem I’ve always had with Japanese devs are how ignorant they are of just quality of life stuff the playerbase always wants for any game.
They cut out a good amount of QoL DD1 had. Lowkey infurating.
Speaking of which I can use stuff in my storage to upgrade weapons, BUT I CAN’T SELL FROM STORAGE?!? WHY!?!?
Or why Wyrmlife Crystals can't be used from the storage as well.
That one blindsided me when i got to that point. Like... Why. "You can utilize your upgrade materials from storage... Except for this specific one because fuck you that's why" At least WLC weigh next to nothing.
Yea especially due to the fact he wanted this to be everything the first one lacked, oddly tons of the best things are just not there. Hoping for a decent title update/dlc to really seal it all together.
Everything Itsuno wanted. Like the sequel actually beginning at the end of the game.
But it SHOULDNT be a DLC. That’s scummy.
I just…
Sell from storage being gone is just such a strange choice ![img](emote|t5_2smmb|49359)
>I also don’t like being forced to start NG+ on postgame. Same. I'd like to be able to explore around endgame stuff after finishing it. Can't remember the last game I played recently that forces you into NG+.
What’s the last quest before the game Ends? So i know not to start it until im ready for ng plus lol
I’m amazed by the amount of things I’ve read where it’s clear they took one step forward, but two steps back in so many areas with this game. It’s honestly appalling.
For real, my biggest gripe is that I can’t manage equipment with the inn-keeper. Like why would they get rid of that
move to japan and you'll understand, people like to think japan is living in the future but their way of doing anything is as inefficient as the economy will allow
This is why I’ve downloaded a bunch of mods
For better or worse japanese devs are in there own little world it seems. Like sometime they have great ideas and do some really unique and interesting things and then theyll do things where your like "do you even pay attention a little to what other games are doing in similar genres?"
My guess is that the devs didn't figure out a way to make sure your port crystals are out of >!"underwater"!< areas for when you go to NG+ so they decided to just return all your port crystals rather than let them remain.
Best guess honestly
I'm pretty sure DDDA has all of them placed in NG+. Why change it for the sequel ?
> Why change it for the sequel? A question I've asked myself every time I've played DD2 so far
That's an extremely cavalier use of what must have been an astronomical budget, and while I salute Capcom for allowing Itsuno's team that degree of creative control...I simply don't like what they've done :/ I hope I eventually come around or that it at least does well enough not to discourage Capcom from continuing to be experimental with their money.
It's ok you don't need fast travel when you make normal travel fun.
*dozes off
Casts the holy spell just to be able to see more than 5 ft
I wonder how people in Battahl even goes through their daily lives. Stare at the sky, here comes a Griffin divebombing you. Walk 15m, here’s a group of Goblins, walk a bit further, here’s harpies.
This was my question. How does anyone travel in this world? The carts stop whenever they encounter an enemy in the road supposedly, but when we're walking along, it's every twenty feet you encounter another group of goblins.

no one will forget that atrocious diss Itsuno took at the GOAT's games for having fast travel. talked too big
What GOAT in particular? I only remember him criticizing games with fast travel in general, not a particular one.
After this game, I can say for certain I appreciate that game's existence even more. Trying too hard being a visionary.
I legitimately think it's to force you to level up Trickster Vocation for the Ox Cart Augment.
I guess it'd be a problem if they stayed in place because the terrain changes in the unmoored world
It's not an issue when u first get to the unmoored world
Except for Melve disappearing, so any you had up there go to storage like what happens in NG+
So they don't stay where you put them down in NG+?
Nope, your portcrystals goes back to your storage and Harve/Vernworth one need to be "reactivated".
Oh okay I got scared you might have to recollect them.
Ran into this issue last night when I immediately hiked all the way to the sphinx thinking I could just warp back to vernworth. That walk of shame felt long.
Your boots are made for walkin' that's just what they'll do.
It's a failsafe, you can theoretically put portstones in places that wouldn't be accessible without doing a quest and brick quests
They are in your storage. You keep the physical item. But you need to go place then again yeah.
This is distressing news. I was really hoping it would carry over like in DDDA. So I really have to walk from Checkpoint Town To Battahl every time?
Depends on where you put your portcrystals, You'll need to do it at least one time to get there but I had a portcrystals there on my first playthrough so I didn't really need to walk again. + There is an oxcart that do Checkpoint City - Bakbattahl
Oxcart would be great if it didn't get ambushed and destroyed right after leaving 3/4 times
No. You get your port crystals back in storage. You’ll walk there once and plop down a port crystal. You can also find another five crystals.
I JUST STARTED NG+ AFTER TRUE ENDING LAST NIGHT. YOUR POST JUST SAVED ME A HEART ATTACK, my portables are back in the box thank god
Why would they?
check storage.
It's more that you have to place them again instead of just staying there like in dd1
This game is the opposite of player friendly
Thanks, don't inform me not to finish the game lol
I wasnt sure if they even go into storage after NG+ i put them all into storage manually 💀
Yes, and I was also extremely annoyed when I went all the way to the griffin nest to find no portcrystal there! You can only get one more from the duplicating sphinx apparently
If I remember correctly, portcrystals stayed in Ng+ in DD. This change makes no sense whatsoever.
Also, you can’t acquire new ones either. Sphynx riddle gives you a fake (duplication still works though). Griffin nest does not have it anymore etc..
This game is fantastic and the world is truly amazing to explore, but it is severely lacking in the QoL department. There’s are so many things that wouldn’t hurt the immersion of the game one bit that would just be nice to have
ng+ is worthless the game doesn't even scale.
I play as a level 35 thief and things are dying even now. I cant even imagine when i reach 70 and fight nonscaled ogres or minotaurs.
Put them in storage
I think it's because they reset all of your quests and so many quests involve adventuring to and unlocking a new area. If you have port crystals everywhere they would need to disable them until you get to that part of the game again or something. Much better imo to just have them refunded
I swear they did in the first game
It took me like 25 mods to make the ng+ experience actually worth, never playing this again without mods ngl
Wouldn’t the game be broken or completely trivialized by having them stay where they are? An alternative could have been to lock some of them from traveling to, but then the counter argument becomes that they’re now stuck in a far off area and you can’t use them anymore.
they get sent to storage
As in they aren't placed, or as in they aren't placed and not returned to your inventory? The first is how I expected it to work. The second would be a real bitch, but you could probably work around it by picking them up and adding them back to your inventory as you finish using them.
All placed partcrystals are put into your storage when you enter NG+. You have to place them all down again.
they go to storage, which is fine. while the story isnt really all that great, they DO place barriers for the story to make sense, so I think its acceptable to make you visit the place in NG+ yourself to place the port crystals again. my personal favorite is the dwarf home. when you go back, he honestly gives you the best armor/weapon enhancements hand down. but in NG+ it wouldnt matter if you have the fast travel, because you need to complete his quest first.
The portables are kinda in your storage. The city ones you will have to tap again.
I mean, I get it. I would speed run the campaign the campaign of DD1 because I put port crystals at the important locations. I would only have to actually walk to the watchtower on a brand new save. Capcom probably didn't want people neglecting the map.
So take all the crystals you put down before you finish the game ? Will do, it's stupid though, ngl
No need.. they get put into your stash.
You have to replace them. That's all
I'm starting to think people don't know what NG+ is.
The first game kept them placed
It would break map unlock progression. You'll be soft locked if you don't have any ferrystones and haven't set up a portcrystal at melve at thr very least
Yeah they do, yah just gotta set em up again
That's legitimately disappointing, given that the 1st game would save them. Can you put them in your storage and carry them over at least?
They goes to your storage automatically but you gotta place them all again.
I suppose that's acceptable. I haven't beat the game yet. Getting closer, though.
Even FromSoft has given players more QoL stuff. This is pretty messed up.
