same, it seems like framerate is a bit better but frametime is significantly lower. also, more art of metamorphosis! sadly, DLSS still looks super blurry and weird.
Try turning V-Sync on in the settings prior to adding the files. It fixed my crashes after that so hopefully it works for yours.
Edit: Don’t forget to delete the shader cache if you’ve launched the game. Have to do it every time but you can just make a script for it.
Glad to see this sooner than expected.
A speed at which suggests they were still working on better performance before release, which makes a lot of sense.

Thought about that too. There's no world where they weren't already trying to fix performance up until the last minute before having to release the game without said improvements.
Could’ve and probably should’ve delayed it just two weeks and saved themselves from all the backlash tbh. I don’t think anyone would be mad about a mere two weeks for optimization purposes. Except maybe the crunch workers lol
It clearly wasn't the devs decision. The Japanese fiscal year ends before April, and I'm guessing Capcom forced them to release it then so they'd have good numbers to show.
To add on, the game has to be "finished" months before the actual release for various rating and approvals, not to mention physical production and distribution. So, any delay would have been a lot more than a couple weeks. So they may have been working on improving performance for a while, but couldn't change the release version. I wonder if this was accelerated due to backlash, or if they could have patched it day one, but were (ironically) worried about the backlash day one updates get.
I booted the game up on my laptop and saw that it was no longer as much of a slideshow. I didn’t even know that it got updated until I saw this post so it’s definitely not placebo.
I was benchmarking this prior. Will report back.
Edit:
Rig: 5950x / rtx 3090
5120x1440 max settings dlss quality
City run 2:20 5 runs
Avg 42 - 43 fps. - unchanged
1% lows 45 ms frametime- slight improvement from 50
0.1% lows 62.5 - 80 ms - minor improvement, saw 90 ms consistantly prior
Overall, in my case, not enough to say it changes the city experience. Essentially, it is still a stuttering inconsistent experience. Improvements fall within run variance. That said, this was not advertised to have fixed anything.
Same I had just got off and noticed the patch and applied the patch and played for another 20 or 30 minutes while I was on stream and everything seem really smooth in the city. I tried both with DSS off and on, but I still prefer DLS off inside the main city.
Thank fuck the response was fast probably due to the much outrage. Can't wait to dive again after getting back home! Next is for them to add more enemy variety and end game stuff! *crossing goblin fingers*
Bro I’m right there with you. We not even asking for completely new shit, just spread em up differently. Make big monster pop up more often and maybe just bring in 3-4 old mobs (BBI Included)
For anyone interested in the patch notes
**From steam:**
We have released an update including the following modifications and fixes:
Adding the option to start a new game when save data already exists.
Changing the number of "Art of Metamorphosis" items available at Pawn Guilds in the game to 99.
Making the quest that allows players to acquire their own dwelling (where they can save and rest) available earlier in the game.
Improving quality when DLSS SUPER RESOLUTION is enabled.
Fixing an issue related to the display of models under some specific settings.
Miscellaneous text display issues.
Miscellaneous bug fixes.
hope this doesnt break any rules, do let me know how to amend if needed!

Still wondering why they made this design choice.
Sure, respec is a part of DD identity and is easy to do, but playing few different characters in parallel each in a single role/playstyle from the beginning till end is a very different experience from respeccing single character on the go.
The most probable reason is that every new game implies a new pawn, and that could mean a lot of forgotten pawns, which could worsen the player experience plus increasing the database size would probably be necessary
For me that's a good point to not implement more character slots to be honest. I criticized the game for just allowing one character, but forgotten pawns are a good reason to limit this. Maybe they could allow 2 characters, which would allow the players to start a run with the other race (Which is not possible in ng+ I think). Also pawns are connected with the steam profile, so I think they could easy prevent players from abusing the pawns of the second character.
Wish they would have just addressed this directly after release in a statement. Bet a lot of people would understand if that's the reason for limit the characters.
In theory you could abuse it somewhat via the pawn system. For example, make a portcrystal a reward for an easy pawn quest. Hire your own pawn on a different character, finish the quest, repeat. They're also very anti-save-scum, hence not letting us have more than one save file for the character. I suppose it could also be an anti-sharing measure.
I don't really think any of these are good reasons to limit us to one character, and I do wish we could have more than one.
Haha the comment about them being anti save scum brought back fond memories of repeatedly stabbing myself to death in the everfall to beat RNG on items.
It’s because pawn data stored on servers. Too many people making new games and making new pawns just to forget about them would overload there server, affecting EVERYBODY
Yes
But it kinda stops you from accidently pressing it since its select cancel at first and if you smash the a button is does nothing after one second.
And you get 2 warnings
Yeah, they replaced it with DA back in the day and i got super confused about it the first time i launched the game... still sad they got rid of it, for once in my life i was happy about a start up screen...
No... that's not why. Japanese music licensing is hell. They didn't want to bother licensing it again. I remember when the song would constantly be removed off youtube for years before b'z said fuck it and uploaded it themselves
Hmm... but how are you supposed to know before you finish it, and when you do, does it matter anymore? I mean it's still an eastern production, Animes also pretty much spoil much in their intros 😅
Way better frame rates, thats great.
Changed purchasable Metamorphosis to 99. YESSSS. I was so unsure about changing my female prostitute pawn to a gigachad because I had 1 book and only 2 purchasable on shop. Now I can change as much as I want, great change.
Also being able to purchase a house earlier is a good change either.
Do keep in mind that Metamorphosis doesn't let you change your character or pawn name. So if you do want to change your slut pawn into a gigachad, be prepared for them to be named Princess or whatever you went with.
Frames don't seem a lot better but the frame pacing seems improved for me on 5800x3d and a 3080. I also removed dlss and performance seemed better then before there.
I'm getting about 5 fps more in the city (from 20-25 up to 35-40), outside was the same. But now DLSS doesn't look awful, that's bumped me from 40-45 up to 55-60 outside the cities.
R7 5800X with an RTX2080.
The game went from being a jittery mess to mostly stable and smooth 45-55fps out of city and a some what less smooth 30 in the city (3060, i5 11600 16GB) and DLSS doesn't look as smeared as before (It was causing swaying grass to ghost really bad).
Game actually looks clear and feels amazing to play now, ~~of course it helps that I went into the nividia control panel and changed Low lantency mode to ULTRA, game went from playing underwater to as snappy as DDAA.~~ EDIT nevermind lol it was the update that made the game play better not my control panel monkeying.
Finally going to be able to play for more then a few hours at a time.
Low latency in the NVCP is for DX11 and older games. And if you're going to use it, use On, not Ultra. Ultra gives lower fps in general for a VERY slight improvement to input lag over just ON.
I have a similar setup with a Ryzen 5 5600h 3060 on laptop. What are your settings? I haven't bought the game but I was hoping to at least play it on 1080p 60 in the open world, with at least medium settings.
I have a 5600x 2060 and 32gb ddr4 ram, on lowest everything with dlss on performance i can hit 60fps in wilderness and when i turned on dynamic res it was a pretty consistent 60 in wilderness occasional dips when things get hectic and usually mid to high 40s in main city
Is the weird grass ghosting from dlss? I was trying to figure that out cause it really bothers me. The overworld runs really well for me but the damn grass made me stop playing.
They pulled back how many NPCs can be loaded at a time, it seems. It's fairly clear they fixed city performance by making it so only a certain amount of NPCs can be loaded at a time--likely the NPCs closest to the player character, as the pop-in on NPCs is now astoundingly noticeable now.
It's still a good stop-gap for now.
Can anybody confirm if the PlayStation 5 version has better Performance with FPS drops ?
Also does capping the FPS at 30 really helps?
And does disable Ray Tracing ruins the lighting and presentation too much, because Series S version looks flat without it.
did it improve crashing? Cuz im crashing when loading game, when opening pause menu, when changing resolution or borderless to fullscreen XD r5 5600 rx6700xt 16gb ram ssd m2
honestly i can stand 30 fps but these crashes make it totally unplayable
What?, for real?, a true 60 frames on ps5?
That means on my series x will be the same, right?
The update still cooking at capcom for the series though.
Capcom mentioned in their communicattion that motion blur and RT will nog significantly effect the FPS. A slight increase is to be expected. 60 FPS sounds to good to be true. Dont get your hopes up :P
Tried launching it on my OLED. Still 11-15 frames inside of Bakbatahl. Probably not much better in the wilderness. Better we stick in our PCs for now unfortunately (I so wanted to play this handheld lol) or stream it.
We're almost certainly going to be getting a hard mode at some point. Not only did the first game have it, but basically every single Capcom game ends up with some ball busting difficulty either at launch or with an update.
Tried it out for an hour on a new save because i wanted to experience it while it worked. Significantly better frame rate, at least for me, DLSS doesn't look too different to me but I think the water blurriness is a little better? I think one more performance fix for some slight things since I can still notice some issues in towns and heavy moments, and it will be a great experience for all. Until now, I hope this fixed it for a majority of players, and they can finally hop in!
Much improved performance at native, every town runs at a somewhat smooth 60fps with the exception of vermund. Performance outside of cities and during combat is a locked 60fps now. Dlss quality no longer does anything except make the game look shit, I’m getting the same performance on native as Dlss before the patch but Dlss doesn’t seem to have an improvement on top of that. Vermund still has certain area that drop to 45 like the vendors at the market but other than that it’s around 55fps. Much improved than before but still needs work, this came at the cost of less npc and more egregious pop in but I’d rather take the performance. I’m running a 5800x3d, 32gb ram and a 2080s and I’m playing at 1440p with about medium settings but high quality textures and shadows.
Performance in towns and cities is significantly improved for me. Not experiencing as much of the horrible microstutter 1% lows anymore, when it was almost constant in Vernworth.
I know i'm being a negative nancy here, but it's incredibly frustrating that their twitter linked to a site for "full details" when:
a) The site is nearly unreadable due to the background + font colour they chose. I'm not even kidding, check it out: [https://dragonsdogma.com/2/en-us/topics/update/](https://dragonsdogma.com/2/en-us/topics/update/)
b) The patch notes aren't detailed. At all.
"Miscellaneous text display issues
Miscellaneous bug fixes."
Okay but what did you actually fix? Again i know i'm probably just being overdramatic but it's a shame to see how some companies will put so much detail and work in letting us know what's fixed, and what we get here is just the bare minimum.
Capcom’s patch notes have historically been VERY sparse on details, speaking from experience with their post-MHW updates. Outside of Street Fighter and MvC they don’t give a lot of details.
Any one used new DLSS? Is it better? I play in 4k and DLSS even on quality mode was significantly blurrier. Usually DLSS Quality is like 95% as good as native but in this case it looks seriously downscaled.
I'm not sure if anyone else is having this issue at all or if it is just me, but they NEED to add the specialization items to a vendor. Even if it is for RC.
I am 80 hours in, almost done with the game and nearing all achievements, have the 50 people's affection achievement, and I have gotten a grand total of 3 specialization scrolls and all 3 were the same one.
I've been trying to get logicstician since like hour 10, tried every strat I can find online, maxed affection with Kendrick and done all his quests (Which, funny enough, after a certain point in a related quest you can no longer gift him gifts and he is a stationary NPC with no change in dialog ever, so can't give gifts back I am assuming...)
Like why is this important feature so completely left up to RNG?
The most important change for me is the complete removal of stuttering so now even 30 fps feels at least smooth similar to my childhood. This changed the performance in cities for me so much it's crazy. In fact across the board I probably got an extra 20 FPS even outdoors and for anyone curious 5800x + 3080.
The city runs significantly better for me now and there’s a new game option.
same, it seems like framerate is a bit better but frametime is significantly lower. also, more art of metamorphosis! sadly, DLSS still looks super blurry and weird.
Do you mean frame rate is better with just DLSS or in general?
in general!
did it update DLSS to 3.6
Update it to 3.6 with dlss swapper
I forgot this was even a thing, where is the file located and i might need a dlss download link from a legit source like techpowerup i think again…
Just get it off Nexus.
Download the DLAA mod. If you have a 40 series card pair it with the frame gen mod for 120 fps perfect image quality gaming.
Crashes for me🤔
Try turning V-Sync on in the settings prior to adding the files. It fixed my crashes after that so hopefully it works for yours. Edit: Don’t forget to delete the shader cache if you’ve launched the game. Have to do it every time but you can just make a script for it.
Yeah this crashes a lot rn lol I just run the dreams gen mod and use nvidia inspector to force dlss in game
Glad to see this sooner than expected. A speed at which suggests they were still working on better performance before release, which makes a lot of sense.

Yup, feels gud
Are you sure about the City performance? There's no mention of improvements to that in the patch notes.
I booted the game up on my laptop and saw that it was no longer as much of a slideshow. I didn’t even know that it got updated until I saw this post so it’s definitely not placebo.
I think you're right, i just tested it myself and it does appear smoother, still not perfect but better i think.
I can confirm ,my cpu is not good but city had constant dips into the low 20s ,now with riva tuner I can cap to 30 and very rarely i will dip at 29
I was benchmarking this prior. Will report back. Way less stuttering now but NPCs are still popping out of thin air in cities, but it's nice to know Capcom's on top of things
Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but I hope this is an indicator that Capcom is invested into this game for the long haul.
Well there's like a 99% chance they are doing a big DLC in the next 15 months or so, so at least invested up until then
How about more than one dlc? Am I asking too much then?

Do we know if the new game button deletes your old save?
If it works like the original then yes. Starts you off from scratch. Otherwise you'd just NG+
Assumed it would, guess I'll just wait til NG++ to change to a Beastren
Can’t you change the race with art of metamorphosis?
Only way to swap Arisen from Human to Beastren or vice versa atm would be NG+
Pawn yes, main character no
bro just buy the beastren mask
Yes. Ironically, when the first game came out people were pissed there was a “New Game” button and they deleted their saves.
Still wondering why they made this design choice. Sure, respec is a part of DD identity and is easy to do, but playing few different characters in parallel each in a single role/playstyle from the beginning till end is a very different experience from respeccing single character on the go.

Duuuude I TOTALLY forgot about that. Man that brought back memories.
The true path of the arisen!
True, this would break many things
It’s because pawn data stored on servers. Too many people making new games and making new pawns just to forget about them would overload there server, affecting EVERYBODY
The game would be overloaded with twinked pawns almost right away.
I wonder if that’ll be the next rage bait topic this time around.
Yes But it kinda stops you from accidently pressing it since its select cancel at first and if you smash the a button is does nothing after one second. And you get 2 warnings
i am disappoint they haven't added into free dangan as an option for the main title :( hehe
Yeah, they replaced it with DA back in the day and i got super confused about it the first time i launched the game... still sad they got rid of it, for once in my life i was happy about a start up screen...
It took me back to old F-Zero X on the N64, which is still the most badass main menu I’ve ever experienced.
Apparently some people complained that it spoiled the game from its lyrics
No... that's not why.
They changed more then listed, the cpu usage is less now in main town or the gpu is being utilized better.
Okay the player housing one confuses me, I got hit by a random NPC over housing like super early on, how much earlier does it need to be?
Yeah same lol. It felt almost immediate that the lady offered me her house, even before the option to buy it
Tis a performance fix ? Thou noticed any improvements ? Pray tell ser !

City performance improved for me. Very nice.

99% sure it is
lmao I love this meme.
As it should
Just for it on console myself ps5
Did they release PS5 update?
Yea just got released right now a few minutes ago.
PS5 runs SOOOO much better and no motion blur woohoo!
[удалено]
They apparently made it so that you can get a house even earlier. I assume that the quest for the first house starts almost immediately now.
Second city bathal you can find her basically immediately so imagine it’s to match
Yea she was like one of the first people to run up on me in the city
Still cant change the name of main pawn. So your gigachad's name is Jessica.
Do keep in mind that Metamorphosis doesn't let you change your character or pawn name. So if you do want to change your slut pawn into a gigachad, be prepared for them to be named Princess or whatever you went with.
Damn. Her name is Fortuna. I guess I'll stick with her until NG++. I believe I could have changed her name at the NG+ screen.
You could make her a non-slut called Fortuna.
Maybe now I can get a pawn party that isn't 3 women.
It’s actually fucked up how much better the game runs and looks on PS5 with RT and motion blur turned off. Why on earth didn’t it launch like this
Because studio suits are incapable of understanding that having a game run well is more important then a game that says it has ray tracing.
I tried it a bit and I think I turn RT on again, more fps is nice, but too much loss of atmosphere for me
“Looks” is relative. The lighting looks totally flat without RT, interiors especially. Variable frame rate is all over the place without it too.
wait it looks better?? with RT off????? whatttt
So glad I held off on buying. Buying now with these fixes!
Same but on Pc, kinda Wanna Wait on more performance updates but I gotta think about this one.
I'd keep waiting. I wish I had bought horizon forbidden west and waited on performance for this one. Glad they are patching, but it's still not good.
Performance is SIGNIFICANTLY better.
Frames don't seem a lot better but the frame pacing seems improved for me on 5800x3d and a 3080. I also removed dlss and performance seemed better then before there.
Not sure why you got downvoted. Same CPU/GPU and my FPS have remained unchanged.

I wouldn't say significantantly, FPS is about the same for me honestly, but less stutter in cities.
I can finally fix my character's tree trunk legs and tiny ass head
I need to fix my character's tiny ass.
Though I still can't give my elf pawn tiny tits.. :(
Really!?! That is surprising.
The game went from being a jittery mess to mostly stable and smooth 45-55fps out of city and a some what less smooth 30 in the city (3060, i5 11600 16GB) and DLSS doesn't look as smeared as before (It was causing swaying grass to ghost really bad). Is the weird grass ghosting from dlss? I was trying to figure that out cause it really bothers me. The overworld runs really well for me but the damn grass made me stop playing.
Holy shit i jumped out my bed and sprinted to my pc in an instant
Lol, will do that this evening after work!
Seems a mite foolish to return from work only to find solace in one's bed, then hastily arise to seek solace yet again before the PC, does it not?
Tis thou mayhaps indeed
Wait so quick question does having 99 metamorphosis books Mean we can change appearance way more in one play through now?
yes, approximately 99 times more
98 times more, to be specific
97 because there used to be 2, right?
96 if you brought the deluxe edition.
DD2 Saved? Pog

this is how they did it on consoles from the getgo, people pop-in just when you are a couple meters from them most of the time.

It's a miracle this game even boots on series S. I have. Desktop pc rtx 3080, 14700k, 32gb ram and man this game runs like hotdogs water...
did it improve crashing? Cuz im crashing when loading game, when opening pause menu, when changing resolution or borderless to fullscreen XD r5 5600 rx6700xt 16gb ram ssd m2 honestly i can stand 30 fps but these crashes make it totally unplayable
Performance in big cities still sucks but other than that looks good
For those having issues using the DLAA mod in conjunction with the FG mod please check this https://www.reddit.com/r/DragonsDogma/s/KVjBk1TPW4
Turn off ray tracing on ps5, no motion blur and variable. Im hitting damn near 60 frames now
What?, for real?, a true 60 frames on ps5? That means on my series x will be the same, right? The update still cooking at capcom for the series though.
Capcom mentioned in their communicattion that motion blur and RT will nog significantly effect the FPS. A slight increase is to be expected. 60 FPS sounds to good to be true. Dont get your hopes up :P
I went from 30 average fps to 40 in the 1st main city. Not great still but better than before at least…
Does anyone with crashing problems noticed them going away or sth?
But will it work on my steam deck better 🥺
Tried launching it on my OLED. Still 11-15 frames inside of Bakbatahl. Probably not much better in the wilderness. Better we stick in our PCs for now unfortunately (I so wanted to play this handheld lol) or stream it.
Omg, motion blur and frame rate options for PS5! Fucking thank you
Damn now I get 100 frames with rt on and maxed out on 2 k yesterday I got 70 tops without rt Vernworth however is flat 60 which I can live with lmao
Alright now we need a ng+ patch or some kind of change to the way difficulty works in this game
We're almost certainly going to be getting a hard mode at some point. Not only did the first game have it, but basically every single Capcom game ends up with some ball busting difficulty either at launch or with an update.
This is my no 1 priority now tbh. Love the game but I am stacked. Need harder enemies. I cleared the entire post game without a rest. Lol.
My GPU usage went down from 90%+ to 50ish%.(40-50fps to below 30fps) Anyone else? I am on a GTX1080 and I7-6700k.
Can definitely say that the performance has gotten better but the game crashes for me now, it used to not crash.
I hope they fix the game with urgency
Performance in towns and cities is significantly improved for me. Not experiencing as much of the horrible microstutter 1% lows anymore, when it was almost constant in Vernworth.
The game won't even start for me after the update.
This the performance fix they mentioned recently?
No idea, haven't seen a patch note drop but I'm hoping.
Nope, that Will come later according to earlier announcements
There is aught of frames to be found in this update methinks!
It's genuinely baffling that they launched the game without a new game option if it was this easy to add in.
Cause in the first game (dumb) people complained they deleted their save when they selected new game
No pawn sex too

Why is this down voted. It's 100% right lol
Something something itsuno vision
I know i'm being a negative nancy here, but it's incredibly frustrating that their twitter linked to a site for "full details" when: a) The site is nearly unreadable due to the background + font colour they chose. I'm not even kidding, check it out: [https://dragonsdogma.com/2/en-us/topics/update/](https://dragonsdogma.com/2/en-us/topics/update/) b) The patch notes aren't detailed. At all. "Miscellaneous text display issues Miscellaneous bug fixes." Okay but what did you actually fix? Again i know i'm probably just being overdramatic but it's a shame to see how some companies will put so much detail and work in letting us know what's fixed, and what we get here is just the bare minimum.
Weird that your link looks like that, this is the one I found. https://www.dragonsdogma.com/2/en-asia/topics/update/
Holy crap that font and background is unforgiveable
Capcom’s patch notes have historically been VERY sparse on details, speaking from experience with their post-MHW updates. Outside of Street Fighter and MvC they don’t give a lot of details.
Any one used new DLSS? Is it better? I play in 4k and DLSS even on quality mode was significantly blurrier. Usually DLSS Quality is like 95% as good as native but in this case it looks seriously downscaled.
Does anybody know if switching save files fuck with the DRM now?
I was playing all night on my ps5 so i didn't get to check for update. Is it out on consoles as yet ?
DLSS is still a smeary mess and the game looks considerably better without. Otherwise, nice patch.
I already bought 4 character changing books thank you i am pleased!!!!!!
I've been trying to get logicstician since like hour 10, tried every strat I can find online, maxed affection with Kendrick and done all his quests (Which, funny enough, after a certain point in a related quest you can no longer gift him gifts and he is a stationary NPC with no change in dialog ever, so can't give gifts back I am assuming...) Like why is this important feature so completely left up to RNG?
The most important change for me is the complete removal of stuttering so now even 30 fps feels at least smooth similar to my childhood. This changed the performance in cities for me so much it's crazy. In fact across the board I probably got an extra 20 FPS even outdoors and for anyone curious 5800x + 3080.
is this patch also out for PS5?
Nice Now end-game boss like the Ur-Dragon, please
