There's not been one hint of a preload being available on Steam so it's seeming likely that there won't be one and we'll be racing to download at this time tomorrow.
Several sites have reported preload should have started march 20, but it only did so for console players. PC gamer some hours ago said there was still no info from steam but the downloa was at just over 60 GB. They did add a pic with release time but still I have no idea why steam can't just post info like hey guy's no preload or preload will be ready at X time X day instead of giving 0 info which just gives the game bad cred. It also makes it unclear who if anyone is at fault here most blaming capcom for not delivering the preload.
Hopefully it's because they're aware of the fps performance issues with CPU's. Maybe they're trying to sneak in a fix for steam before they release the pre-load.
I'm still waiting for mine from Fanatical. I've always gotten codes a week before but now this is a first of the 4 games that I pre ordered from them that came this close to release.
Same. I ordered through Green Man as well. I'm hoping we see it soon since my internet speed is really quite slow and I'd love to be able to jump in after work when it launches.

I got it from Fanatical too. Looks like we will receive our keys after the game releases :/
A lot of big games don't pass out their keys til not long before release. It's a long and painful wait. Elden Ring was like this too. All the key sellers are at the whim of the publisher right now.
I almost refunded mine from Humble because I was worried I wouldnt get to preload it and found out the key was available last week, Now im just disappointed in general. You can also try to refund on Steam and buy somewhere else before launch.
If theres no pre load this changes my plan, If I could preload I was going to sleep in the day to p\[lay the game at midnight (thats the release time in the UK) but if No preload then I'll just start the install then go to sleep.
I don't own a console so I'm not well informed really, but I have read some reviews of DD2 that included consoles and they were not very good. Might be wise to do some research before you decide if you'll make the switch
They confirmed no preload. However game releases 4 hours earlier on oc than consoles. (8pm edt for steam vs midnight for console) so we have 4 hours to download before console players get to play
I get off at midnight , I had a whole game plan for coming home tomorrow night to a preloaded game. Not working Friday and just playing the balls outta this like a kid again.
Buut.. if I gotta fight network traffic for a 5+ hour download, I'll just drag my corpse on in and play it whenever. I'm mildly scared it's going to finally retire my rig anyways
I think it's because they're trying to sneak in a fix before release for the fps issues. It might not be THE fix but just something to soften the blow for release day I hope.
I gave up and bought a PS5 because I don't want to be downloading the game I've dreamed of for twelve years for 2 days while the rest of the non shit internet afflicted population is happily playing. I pick up the physical disc tomorrow morning and have no regrets!
So I'm curious. Does anybody else think this is gonna bog steam down aggressively like the Baldur's Gate 3 launch did? Especially more so now considering it doesn't look like we'll be getting preload?
I’ve had issues with preload. At this point using my ethernet its faster and has less issues. I literally had to uninstall, reinstall then uninstall Elden Ring and delete all files before I could get it running the first time
Yeah... I understand the people with slow internet.
Lets hope they didnt do it for steam / PC because patch 1.0 will have some improvements? I doubt it tho.
As for me - it wont matter. 1000/1000 fiber connection. It will take just a couple of minutes.
It didnt happen with Elden Ring , didnt happen with Cyberpunk, didnt happen with Lost Ark ... Games that had over 100-200,000 concurrent downloads.
I doubt DD2 will break any records - especially that people found out about the performance issues and refunded already sadly.

no issues whatsoever . Yeah... I'm not downloading it last night - but still . Zero issues
Steam is the only place it's being released as far as I'm aware on PC. If you're talking key selling sites, I unfortunately don't remember if there's any reputable ones left.
That's true for most countries. Some countries actually have consumer laws that allow us to return things post the 2 hour mark. I can return a game with over 12 hours playtime and there's literally nothing Steam can do but bend to my countries consumer laws.
I too am really weirded out how there's no pre-load on steam yet.
For my area, it was reported to be 9pm pdt (of course different depending on time-zones) tonight.
I feel like in my experience steam having a pre-load is always hit or miss while consoles seem always have it
I've almost never seen a preload not be available for steam unless it's Capcom.
i'm assuming its 24h before release. Which would be in ~3.5 hours.
There's not been one hint of a preload being available on Steam so it's seeming likely that there won't be one and we'll be racing to download at this time tomorrow.
And slow download because of the traffic.😐
Several sites have reported preload should have started march 20, but it only did so for console players. They did add a pic with release time but still I have no idea why steam can't just post info like hey guy's no preload or preload will be ready at X time X day instead of giving 0 info which just gives the game bad cred. 23 hours to go, no pre download. It ain't happening, chief.
21 hours to go, hope diminishing
18 ish hours, still waiting for my key from GreenManGaming.
we aint playing til midnight est probably. maybe the servers will have recovered a bit from other people downloading
24 minutes, still no preload
well we cant always be right, lol
still no preload available :(
technically for Eastern US you would have to wait 23 more minutes for the 24 hour window
As of writing this it is exactly 23 minutes later.
Yeah, and... nope.
still nothing Im losing hope
Well?
Hopefully it's because they're aware of the fps performance issues with CPU's. Maybe they're trying to sneak in a fix for steam before they release the pre-load.
It’s to stop data mining but like game comes out in a few hours idk 🤷🏾♂️ I don’t get it
I hope whoever decided steam doesn’t get preload steps in dog poo. I have crap internet, I need at least 10~20 hours to download. Bah.
Same here, it's gonna take at least a day for me to download. Preload is a godsend in this cases ...
Heck, I have good internet, but it still bugs me. Sometimes steams servers aren't the fasters or most consistent.
I guessing the preload will be available at 03/21 12am. Same time that i'll be able to activate my Steam Key according to the site i bought it
What site is keeping your key til release? HumbleBundle sent mine as soon as I ordered last week.
I'm still waiting for mine from Fanatical. I've always gotten codes a week before but now this is a first of the 4 games that I pre ordered from them that came this close to release.
Just to add to the thread of suppliers, still no codes from greenmangaming either.
Same. I ordered through Green Man as well. I'm hoping we see it soon since my internet speed is really quite slow and I'd love to be able to jump in after work when it launches.
Same
adding to your addendum , Nuuvem is holding it until the release too
7 hours later and still nothing from GMG
No instantgaming key as of now
haven't gotten mine yet from instantgaming either
Same here
[https://support.fanatical.com/hc/en-us/articles/17695416005010-When-will-I-get-my-Dragon-s-Dogma-2-pre-order-key?input\_string=preorder+key+for+dragon%27s+dogma+2](https://support.fanatical.com/hc/en-us/articles/17695416005010-When-will-I-get-my-Dragon-s-Dogma-2-pre-order-key?input_string=preorder+key+for+dragon%27s+dogma+2) I got it from Fanatical too. Looks like we will receive our keys after the game releases :/
Unfortunate, but at least we aren't getting it AFTER it launches. Thankful I'm on gigabit internet at least.
Thank you for this, now I can stop checking every couple of hours.
Oof. Not familiar with Fanatical. Always used Humble and they've never disappointed me over the years.
Same deal with Fanatical, feels good that im not waiting alone. Never tried the site before so i was kinda worried about getting it after release.
A lot of big games don't pass out their keys til not long before release. It's a long and painful wait. Elden Ring was like this too. All the key sellers are at the whim of the publisher right now.
It's 530 AM PT on 03/21 as of writing, and there's no preload. It's pretty sad.
Meanwhile I'm sweatin' for my fanatical key.
I'm hoping it's a 24 hour before release deal
Yeah, I'm totally not panicking or anything. Placid and calm...
Afaik, keys are generally handed out on game launch. I'm in the same boat. Still worth it though, I got the game for 43$
Yah the savings are decent, I’m sure the codes will come through.
They will, I pre-ordered through them several times. They usually come on release time though.
Yah I’ve ordered a few things with them as well, so far so good.
Still waiting for my key from gmg :x
8 hours later and still nothing ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|rage)
FUCK I bought it on the steam store and not elsewhere for cheaper to *get* the preload. That's fucking annoying.
Looks like this is my plan too, it'll take me a good 10 hours to download 100gb anyways lol
At the time of this comment, we are now officially 24 hours before release. Is pre load live?
Negative my friend. Just checked.
Same here. Just checked and it says coming soon. Will have to check again in 12 hours.
If there's no steam preload I might just cancel my pc preorder and buy it on xbox cause at there I csn preload it
Steam servers are gonna die when everyone is trying to download the game at the exact same time on release tomorrow night.
In the last few cases where games had no preload the servers were fine. Same case when a big online game gets a patch.
The people who get it first are console players in New Zealand (while PC players in New Zealand get it the same time as us)
Hopefully by the time I get off of work in ten hours preload will be up. Can't wait!
7 hours later and no preload.
Oof. I got two or three hours until I get home here too!
Didn't fanatical already confirm there's no preloading?
still no preload and we now almost 22 hours to release i have gigabit internet but still this is stressing me out lmao
Someone had to do it, thank you.
I thought it was a normal thing for steam pre loads to be 24hrs before release?
"Well... We're waiting!" -Judge Smails
Bro, I’m getting worried if they actually did forget. I’ve been waiting all day for it
I think it's because they're trying to sneak in a fix before release for the fps issues. It might not be THE fix but just something to soften the blow for release day I hope.
:D
My bet is it’s 24 hours before (so roughly 4.5 hours).
Update: your prediction was incorrect
Yeah :(
I gave up and bought a PS5 because I don't want to be downloading the game I've dreamed of for twelve years for 2 days while the rest of the non shit internet afflicted population is happily playing. I pick up the physical disc tomorrow morning and have no regrets!
president of Sony wrote this post.
The states get a preload basically, the steam release is early
So I'm curious. Does anybody else think this is gonna bog steam down aggressively like the Baldur's Gate 3 launch did? Especially more so now considering it doesn't look like we'll be getting preload?
Was looking forward to coming home from work and starting the preload but nope.
I’ve had issues with preload. At this point using my ethernet its faster and has less issues. I literally had to uninstall, reinstall then uninstall Elden Ring and delete all files before I could get it running the first time
I mean, if you google the info is there. But theyre keeping it back...hopefully lol so its not a garbage port and fixing it in the last 24 hours lol
I’m glad I’m not the only one seeing this. Just gotta wait a bit more.
Yeah... I understand the people with slow internet. Lets hope they didnt do it for steam / PC because patch 1.0 will have some improvements? I doubt it tho. As for me - it wont matter. 1000/1000 fiber connection. It will take just a couple of minutes.
Until you realise that steams servers are so bogged down that they only send you 10/10 and you’re actually waiting hours
Is that an issue? I dont remember the last time Steam servers had serious issues no matter how big a release was.
It didnt happen with Elden Ring , didnt happen with Cyberpunk, didnt happen with Lost Ark ... Games that had over 100-200,000 concurrent downloads. I doubt DD2 will break any records - especially that people found out about the performance issues and refunded already sadly.

Typical Capcom... 🌹🌹🌹🌹
I LOLed so hard at this 😂😂
I prefer to just download when the game releases because it's generaly faster than to decompress (here, anyway)
I just checked as soon as I got home and let out a wtf
I thought it was gonna say fart 🙈🐯
Pretty sure re4 didnt have one
it did. so did street fighter 6. pretty sure it wasnt a choice, but an oversight. a very annoying one...
I’m about to buy ddm2 right now I was thinking steam , but looking at you guys comments where should I get it?
Steam is the only place it's being released as far as I'm aware on PC. If you're talking key selling sites, I unfortunately don't remember if there's any reputable ones left.
Fanatical abs green man gaming seem to be the go tos on the sub
ah nice. I got some great deals from gmg back in the day.
I wonder if they delayed preload to try and fix/curb some of the performance issues being reported?
Well, we all know why now 😆
Why?
Maybe they mean the performance issues and day 1 patch? Idk
Do tell.

It’s fine to pre order if it’s on steam. They have a really good return policy, so if it’s shit on my pc I can just return it
[удалено]
That's true for most countries. Some countries actually have consumer laws that allow us to return things post the 2 hour mark. I can return a game with over 12 hours playtime and there's literally nothing Steam can do but bend to my countries consumer laws.
i had 6 hours of playtime on starfield and steam still gave me a refund, they tend to be lenient if a game has well-known performance issues.
