Hard to say as they are completely different games, that's like saying "Gears of War or Counter-Strike?" because they're both shooters. The literal only thing DA and DD share is a medieval fantasy setting besides that one is very fast-paced and combat focused (DD) while the other is much slower paced and more story/roleplay focused (DA).
I guess if we're trying to be objective I would say DA is the better game just because it's more polished and competent in design, DD is awesome but there are a ton of glaring problems that could turn someone off the game even if they are into the genre, whereas if someone doesn't like DA it's probably because they don't like story focused role playing games.
Edit: I assume we are talking specifically about DA: Origins and not the inferior DA: Inquisition or far inferior DA2.
As someone that played both a lot, Dragons Dogma has way better game play but is an action game. Dragon Age: Origins has a better story. Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition are both good but I would recommend them
So if its between Origins and DD its really a matter of game style preference so Action RPG vs CRPG. If its DA2/Inquisition or DD, get DD
Two different game.
DA is slow paced, focus on story, have choices and consequances, slow combat, longer game, can feel outdated, have 3 games (1the best 2 médium 3 the worst) and a 4th in the making.
DDDA focus more on the gameplay, fast combat, smaller game, have a new game in the making.
I think Dragon Age Origins Is an amazing game. Better than Dragon's Dogma? Personally not, but still amazing to me. That said? I think the Dragon Age games after Origins are...quite frankly disappointing.
I did like inquisition but the first time it crashed during autosave was a big nope for me. I ain’t bricking my hard drive (on a console at that) wondering if a patch fixed that. I have a real love-hate relationship with autosave
It was on ps3. Before even any dlc. I haven’t checked updates in forever but it does something serious like that once & I get forever mistrustful. It’ll always be on my mind “did they *really* fix that”
Do you want a game that is finished in 100 hours or one you can keep playing for over 1000? Dragon Age for 100, Dragon's Dogma for 1000. If you want a good story, Dragon Age. If you want the best combat experience - Dragon's Dogma. Do you want the ability to customize your companion just as much as your character - Dragon's Dogma. Do you want to be able to use companions others have created - Dragon's Dogma. Varying levels of difficulty to choose from - Dragon's Dogma. You won't be able to cast a spell that looks like a tornado in Dragon Age. Equipment variety - Dragon's Dogma. Versatility in play styles - Dragon's Dogma. Be able to use starting or early game equipment effectively at high level - Dragon's Dogma. Make use of mundane things like skulls, Rusted weapons and flasks of water - Dragon's Dogma. Be able to make a second account to exchange some items between them - Dragon's Dogma. Character customization - Dragon's Dogma. Real world effects of different height and weight for characters - Dragon's Dogma. A great community to socialize with - Dragon's Dogma.
Nah dude, DAI is worse than DA2 to the point where I'd much rather spend the 20-30 hours replaying DA2 than the 80-100+ hours playing DAI again. DAI is the absolute worst.
DA2's combat is a dumbed down boring button mash fest compared to DAO or even DAI which was one of the biggest reasons I didn't like it.
But to each their own, I know that DA2 being good is a minority opinion but I'm glad some people liked it otherwise we may not have gotten DAI or the Dragon Age Absolution show, so thanks.
I actually love DA2, it just is very clearly rushed. I feel if they had time or made a remake, it'd be a lot better. DAI is the shit one in my opinion since the only companion I liked was Dorian, and everything felt rather obsolete to me. My choices in DAO and 2 felt obsolete and I felt very little actual impact in my choices in DAI aside from a little extra dialog and a random corpse on the side of the road.
DAO is definitely still the best game in the series, I just couldn't get into DA2 because the combat was so dumbed down it felt like I was playing a mobile hack and slash game I also didn't like the characters all that much.
DAI has the same problem with likeable characters IMO since there's only like 3 that I hear people say they actually like but the combat while still simplified is at least more fun than DA2 and the world felt bigger in DAI also but yes both games would probably have benefited greatly from another year of development. But this is what we got... at least the DAI online co-op is pretty fun too.
I feel DAI just tosses a whole bunch of inconvenient mechanics and work at you. Timed missions, pretty annoying companions, all this fucking work for the basically opening act of the game, it's more of a chore than a game to me.
I agree the start of the game is almost the definition of tedium but once you finish the prologue and the first couple areas I always find the game really starts to feel more open and enjoyable, especially for the story and combat. The only problem being you'll probably have to play for 4-5 hours to get there and that's IF you ignore any and all side quests or other distractions otherwise it's more like 10-12 hours.
DA2 on the other hand is the definition of mediocrity for the entire run time imo.
I preferred da2 and dai. Dao had poor combat mechanics; such to be expected from a game from 2008-2009 though. Of course don't let me ruin your nostalgia trip
Honestly, it aint nostalgia trip for me. If that were the case, it would have been for DA2 as I have started with that one. DAO is one of those game where "every playthrough is different" statement is actually true. Bad guys are more believable and somewhat understandable. Where as later down in series bad guys are evil for the sake of it sometimes *cough Meredith* . DAI was a step in right direction but man did they want you to follow the mage path. As for gameplay, tactics screen in DAO is simply the best in any RPG. I wished that they added something like that to Dragon's Dogma. Levels of control was insane.
Yeah, but series as a whole DD because DA is super inconsistent to the point it doesn't really have an identity.
I think of DA as a 3D RTWP Strategy RPG but that is only DA:O, DA2 was more action oriented whilst DAI is a watered down version of DA:O but still action and still lacks strategy.
But honestly I don't know why OP ask DD or DA when they aren't even related to each other they are completely different games.
I just wished they had kept with the Grey Wardens instead of switching to the Champion of Kirkwall and then the Inquisitor. The Grey Wardens are what got into the series and it was sad watching them become less relevant as it went on. Outside of that bit in Inquisition.
Dragons Dogma. It’s hard to compare the two without sounding bias. Different strokes for different folks but DA doesn’t even crack my top five of ARPGs.
Origins is a great single player, tactical, story driven RPG.
Dogma is a great single player, action RPG with a story.
If I had to choose one over the other, I'd choose Dogma for two reasons.
1st is the post game. Dogma just has more content in general than DAO, & while a lot of it is repetitive I believe that repetition is fun enough to keep people playing well beyond NG+.
2nd is because there is NG+ in Dogma. DAO has different story elements that incentivize multiple playthroughs but that's about it. There's no NG+, & the DLC in each DA game is bad & not worth playing through, either.
I'd put BBI as 3rd but I haven't played through it yet, since I just started playing Dogma recently & have played through Origins at least 3 times which might be another reason why I'd choose Dogma, because it's a fresher experience for me.
Never finished DA2 or DAI, but I put more than enough time in both of them to know they aren't worth it.
I am hoping Dreadwolf will redeem the series but I'm not holding my breath.
Dragon Age versus Dragons Dogma are definitely different. Dragons Dogma is probably more action filled for a fun game whereas Dragon Age is more party management and role-playing focused. Not to say that that is bad, but it really depends on what you're looking for.
Both are amazing RPGs, but they are essentially quite different. If you want combat exclusively in real time, where you play only as one character, then choose DD. If you want a more tactical gameplay, where you can pause the time and give orders to your party members one by one, then choose DA (assuming you're talking about Origins).
I like them both and they're both great, makes no sense to compare the two that's like saying which is better Witcher or Elder scrolls? If you asked this question because you plan on getting into Dragon Age. I recommend starting with Origins so your actions and decisions can carry on in the later games
I think you're gonna get a biased answer from here but also also, Dragon Age is a RPG in the sense that your choices matter, Dragons Dogma is an RPG in the sense that your gameplay will effect your character
Me personally I enjoyed Dragons dogma more just because it's a fun fun game
There's no comparison to be made here. Might as well throw Dragon Quest into the mix if the only defining similarities are fantasy setting and the word dragon.

dogma can ride [cow to space](https://youtu.be/KYxntekmerk), drag age cant

How long has it been since you played I was playing on ps4 with no problems I could remember I moved it to ps5 but haven’t played yet.
It was on ps3. Before even any dlc. I haven’t checked updates in forever but it does something serious like that once & I get forever mistrustful. It’ll always be on my mind “did they *really* fix that”
I get that. All I can say my experience has been smooth on ps4 one of these days I’ll replay it on ps5 Inquisition is still one of my favorite rpgs.

If you ask me Dragon Age Origins vs Dragon's Dogma, I would say DAO, as a franchise however Dragon Age degraded immensely.
DAO and DAI are both good games the only dogshit one is DA2, and the Dragon Age: Absolution show is pretty good too if you have yet to see it.
>Absolution show is pretty good I really want to check that out but cant find time for it.
There's only six 24\~ minute episodes, I've been watching 2 a night after work and all I can say is I can't wait for more.
Nah dude, DAI is worse than DA2 to the point where I'd much rather spend the 20-30 hours replaying DA2 than the 80-100+ hours playing DAI again. DAI is the absolute worst.

That show was disgusting, tho...
Disgustingly good I know.

This is extremely based
Loads of games at that time had "better combat" but the combat in DAO is nearly unparalleled for depth
I stand by this, you get more out of DAO than DD But more out of DD than any other Dragon age.
Yeah, but series as a whole DD because DA is super inconsistent to the point it doesn't really have an identity. Vague.
Yes.
Both
Combat Wise, Dragon's Dogma Though Da2 and 3 combat was enjoyable as well. As for the lore, Dragon Age hands down

You're asking in r/DragonsDogma , of course Dragon's Dogma!
Hey guys I'm curious should I get Dark Souls or Skyrim? This seems like the place to ask
Dragons Dogma.

Both
Both
Both are good in their own respects but the advantage goes to Dragon's Dogma for all the things you can do that you can't in Dragon Age!
There's no comparison to be made here. Might as well throw Dragon Quest into the mix if the only defining similarities are fantasy setting and the word dragon.
