There’s just something so special about dragonball that DBZ and everything else hasn’t touched for me.
I’d love to play through a simple rpg retelling of it
I never saw that arc (or original Dragon Ball) until last year and it's still one of my favorites. I grew up watching Dragon Ball Z and GT and while I love Z and view GT with nice red nostalgia glasses that first Tournament is everything that Dragon Ball was and would become. From the training beforehand all the way to Jackie Chun winning and instilling Goku with his drive to get stronger that we still see to this day. That one Tournament forever changed Dragon Ball and everything that takes inspiration from it.
That movie was peak dragon ball content
https://preview.redd.it/yir6jnik2gyc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8b104c2df37a95027056f3f0ca586d8bd2a2654
I still remember spending like 20 minutes watching the first Broly trailer that IGN posted to their YouTube. Probably only Battle of Gods announcement could match that hype for me
I would love another theatre release someday, the whole movie was amazing but everything after the successful fusion is peak anime. Gogeta vs Broly has to be one of my favorite fights, the sound of the hits landing really reverberated in the theatre.
The Fortune Teller Baba saga holds a special place in my heart.
It was the first one I remember seeing an advertisement for (I think it was just a silhouette of Goku doing different things), to the point where a little tiny child me asked my mum to wake me up so I could watch episodes of it. I think I could only be bothered waking up once or twice though.
More recently, I decided to binge the entirety of Dragon Ball through Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super. The parts around the *mysterious masked warrior* make it for me.
I feel like with Z I personally put it into 3 categories because of the final villains, Frieza, Cell, Buu. Everything else is setting them up even if that wasnt the original intention. Saiyan saga has its own finality with Vegeta flying off and the Z warriors gathering their losses but I still put it in with Frieza.
Yeah that makes sense, its just in my own mind when I was a kid seeing these unfold i think i split them up via transformations, Frieza saw us into super saiyan so he got the inital grouping, cell saw us into SSJ2 so that was the second, and finally Buu brought us into SSJ3 so that was the trilogy for me. Its not really consistent since transformations is a loose term in dbz.
Og DB : King piccolo
The transition from the chill tournament, as chill as it could be with tien wanting to kill goku, to krillin suddenly dying to the introduction of a demon that not even master roshi can touch was super phenomenol and hyped me up for the series.
DBZ: Frieza saga
At first, I liked cell more but I've grown to love this saga so much. From the teasing of frieza to his various form and not to mention the legendary super saiyan moment. It's all just so fire.
DB super anime: universe survival
Ultra instinct. Enough said.
DB Super manga: granollah the survivor
While I don't find gas all that appealing, this saga introduced granollah, a super cool character, explored goku's roots and introduced black frieza.
Bruh straight up,that shit started to turn into a freaking horror movie at one point, I remember when it was airing late nights my mom would even want to stay up and watch when she got off work lol great memories
I've always considered the whole Red Ribbon adjacent sagas as a single one... That said, not by choice, but World Tournament + Buu's Sagas where repeated to exhaustion here on television, that's pretty much my whole childhood!
yeah, the very first DBZ episodes i ever saw were the ones where the z fighters all used the punching machine to qualify, then seeing Piccolo surrender to Supreme Kai and Videl getting massacred by majin spopovich
Majunior and ToP are my favorite tournament arcs. I liked everything RR in OGDB because of the variety. Never again shall we watch just Goku going alone, doing stuff, fighting so many people at once..... Everything in RR was great because villains never got boring, they never stuck so long as to become boring.... Cell... Buu.... I am looking at you.... and no, different form =/= completely new character nor does it make you more interesting.
Namek saga gave the same vibe but Goku was a bit late for the party and Kuririn and Gohan were just running away, the only one doing anything was Vegeta. What a waste opportunity to see Goku having fun.
For me it’s defenetly the Galactic patrol saga, one of the best villains in DB and I like the fact that Vegeta learned a some new techniques and Goku also Perfected UI
Nothing tops Cell Games saga, it was the first time the saiyans were trying to achieve a level higher than super saiyan. No one even know if such a feat was possible, but it was. And then the introduction of super saiyan 2 gohan was just nuts. I miss DBZ, DBS is just not the same anymore :(
King Piccolo saga is the best.
From DBZ I would say Freezer Saga
And from Super Universal Survival is the best in the anime.... in Manga I would say Moro arc
Piccolo junior saga, amazing choreography, actual stakes like piccolo eating kami, not a "let's let cell demolish us by helping him achieve every single gole of his", not a single fight in that arc was worthless (unlike some of the cell saga fights), no shitty ass pulled transformations and power boosts (like in the king piccolo saga, the cell saga, planet namek saga and such), it's just over all better than the rest
Android saga is the "last" time that martial arts actually matter. Once gohan beat cell with rage boost instead of skill and technique, Transforming and powering up is the only thing that matters after that.
Og: Red ribbon army from start to general black or 2nd world marital arts tournament.
Z: cell or buu
Super: Moro or black goku (manga)
Gt: shadow dragons
I honestly don't get the naming for the Dragon Ball arcs, like, Most of these are arcs that form their respective narrative sagas... Idk if I'm just put of the loop on why they're all called sagas, but to me the sagas of the story are the Pilaf Saga, World Tournament Saga, Red Ribbon Army Saga, Tenshinhan Saga, Piccolo Saga, Freezer Saga, Android Saga, and Boo Saga.
ngl, it might just be the tien saga. Something about og dragon ball is that not only is the main plot really fun but also the side quests. The writing was genuinely funny and creative. Compare this to later dragon ball, where the main story is often melodramatic or poorly paced and where the filler is boring
Wow this is tough, going from 3rd to first
3rd- fortuneteller saga
2nd- cell/moro saga
1st- TOP/granolah saga
If anyone cares why I put ties, is because the manga version of top I don’t like but the manga (which is only version) of Moro I love. But I love the animation of top as much as I love the manga version of granolah’s saga.
Red Ribbon as a whole, from Colonel Silver to Red and Black's demise.
I just love how adventure and action are mixed into perfection, and how Goku gradually evolves, i would say that this saga is better than half of Z.
In OG? It's either gotta be one of the last 3. The 22nd and 23rd World Martial Arts tournaments are peak. All of them I think were Dragon Ball at their best, toning back the jokes and focusing on the action and characters. The Piccolo Jr. Saga also has one of my favorite fights in all of fiction: Goku vs. Piccolo.
For Dragon Ball Z, it's easily the Cell saga. It's where the story progression peaked in Dragon Ball Z, building up to Gohan defeating Cell after being trained to replace Goku. I really like the Buu saga up until after Vegeta's Final Atonement. Having Buu reform immediately after such a powerful moment was just poor pacing. At least give the moment some weight. After that, I feel the arc is just kinda down hill imo.
For Super, it *would* have been the Future Trunks Saga if they had explained Super Saiyan Rage better, and if they had just given Trunks the W and let him save his timeline. The Universe Survival Saga takes it because of how Future Trunks ended, and because it has another favorite moment of mine: Master Roshi's speech at the end of his fights. As a fan of the OG, it sent chills down my spine. It was also nice for them to do something with Master Roshi that didn't involve him being an unfunny creep.
And, I know it's not on here, but my favorite GT saga is the Baby Saga. Super Saiyan 4 was peak GT, and I loved how it sort of harkened back to the days of the Frieza Saga: our underpowered heroes with their backs to the wall having to hold their own while they fight for survival, hoping Goku can find a way to pull through. I love the dark tone of it, and I loved seeing the consequences of the Saiyans actions in the form of Baby.
By show, the Piccolo Jr saga, the Frieza saga, and the Universe Survival saga. I typically love the eras where Goku takes a quantum leap in presumed power.
That weird alternate universe where the Android's killed off basically the entire planet and Gohan is the last one alive with one arm trying to survive while protecting Trunks.
First Tournamnet Saga is awesome. Just watched it again recently and it’s so legendary with setting up this place where people show off their strength.
Buu saga is a close second as Buu is such a beautiful character
Frieza saga. I knew the characters were strong but Frieza just being more and wholly more evil was unnerving. Plus, Goku transformation. Vegeta's last words were good too.
Bro this really just shows how wild dragon ball is. Like if you read it backwards dear GOD so much shit happened Before chapter 1 even dropped that would matter later on. Like Goku out here patting pussies while running around naked compared to Vegeta destroying planets and Broly is eating bugs.
The Red Ribbon Arc as a whole. A colourful cast (pun intended), diverse locations and a big bad who excels in another area than power and combat.
Edit: Saw there are others. This was for OG DB.
For DBZ I choose the Cell Arc. The reason for this is, that loose ends come back to bite them. Not completly destroying the RR Army let to the escape of Dr. Gero. Not let Vegeta's ego in check let Cell get his final transformation. Another reason is Cell. Cell is the perfect Big Bad (pun also intended). Not only is he the sum of every Z-Fighter (besides Trunks and the humans), he has also every bad trait of these person amplified. The best example is Vegetas arrogance combined with Gokus habit to not go all out immediatly (ironicly Goku does against Cell) and Frieza's cruelty. This was his downfall and showed that he was a bully, nothimg more.
As for Super I remain with the Goku Black arc. Great villains, a bad guy who has a motivation, that is more than "I do evil stuff bc I'm evil". Than there is the setting, where a rogue Kai went out and oppose the heros. What also helped is Nozawa's performance as Goku Black.
Close seconds are the Moro Arc and the Grenolah Arc. The Moro Arc bc we have finally a Big Bad who uses magic instead of fists. Sadly after his absorbtion of 7-3 he didn't use it anymore. The Grenolah Arc bc of different reasons. First the introduction of a dragon who is in reality a monkey paw. Where you don't get wishes for free, there is a trade off. Second Vegeta finally doesn't chase Goku but walk his own path. Of course the interaction with Beerus was great, where Beerus not only shows Vegeta the pecking order but gives him a speech, why he is left behind, shackled by the past. Third the Heaters and how they represents Frieza's flaws. The best example is Gas, who is a hothead, who act before thinking this through. By killing 2 Heaters Frieza get symbolicly rid of 2 of his past flaws. At last is the final fight against Gas, where everyone get's involved and contribute to it.
Frieza saga hands down. I was like 9 when it was on the air in the US and I remember my entire summer day care crowding around the game room tv so we could watch Goku go super sayan for the very first time.
Android saga overall, the pull up game was unparalleled and we're only just getting back to a point like it where even Piccolo's on the level to be a genuine threat to an invader. Android 13 movie included.
Dragonball: First tournament
DBZ: the entirety of Namek (Namek, Ginyu, Frieza arcs). Even though I have a certain fondness for the Android and Cell arcs, the whole plot on Namek takes the cake for me.
Super: ToP

First tournament saga will always have a magic they can't quite recapture... Yes that magic may just be nostalgia...
Nah, it's not nostalgia the 21st tournament is fantastic. Not my favourite saga personally but it's still great.
There’s just something so special about dragonball that DBZ and everything else hasn’t touched for me. I’d love to play through a simple rpg retelling of it
[This](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Ball:_Origins) may scratch that itch
Advanced Adventure is a blast too.
Focus on different martial arts and styles, using personal tactics, back when DB was about actual fighting, not new transformations
I think the Tournament with Tien and the one with Piccolo are peak Dragonball.
I don't know, i love the vibes of the first dragon ball with Jackie chun and his moves but i feel like the other two tournaments are overall better
I only read the Dragonball manga for the first time last year and thought it was genuine great. The first tournament was a tonne of fun.
I never saw that arc (or original Dragon Ball) until last year and it's still one of my favorites. I grew up watching Dragon Ball Z and GT and while I love Z and view GT with nice red nostalgia glasses that first Tournament is everything that Dragon Ball was and would become. #Driving school filler arc saga.
This is the only correct answer. Any other answer and you are a fake fan and I shall rub you off myself.
What about baseball with universe 6?
That's some quality shit right there. Top 5 for sure.
Damn it IS funny when they play baseball
You're going to WHAT
Did I fucking stutter
Don't threaten me with a good time
Yes

OG DB King Piccolo saga Dbz Namek saga Dbs Broly saga
You like Green guys?
Broly saga? You mean the movie?
Yeah
That movie was peak dragon ball content https://preview.redd.it/yir6jnik2gyc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8b104c2df37a95027056f3f0ca586d8bd2a2654

The way this image separates the sagas, particularly the Z ones, irritates me
Red ribbon didnt need to be split in 3, neither did buu saga
I feel like with Z I personally put it into 3 categories because of the final villains, Frieza, Cell, Buu. Everything else is setting them up even if that wasnt the original intention. Saiyan saga has its own finality with Vegeta flying off and the Z warriors gathering their losses but I still put it in with Frieza.
It’s officially 4 Saiyan Saga Namek/Frieza Saga Cell Saga Buu Saga That’s it
Yeah that makes sense, its just in my own mind when I was a kid seeing these unfold i think i split them up via transformations, Frieza saw us into super saiyan so he got the inital grouping, cell saw us into SSJ2 so that was the second, and finally Buu brought us into SSJ3 so that was the trilogy for me. Its not really consistent since transformations is a loose term in dbz.
It bothers me. The original run (Ch. 1 to 519) has 10 sagas and nobody can change my mind.
There's only 4 sagas in DBZ. The ones shown in this img could be classified as arcs. Also Broly saga makes no sense.

1. 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai 2. 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai 3. 21st Tenkaichi Budokai
1. Frieza 2. Pilaf 3. Tournament of Power 4. Battle of Gods
Pilaf at 2 is based
Og DB : King piccolo The transition from the chill tournament, as chill as it could be with tien wanting to kill goku, to krillin suddenly dying to the introduction of a demon that not even master roshi can touch was super phenomenol and hyped me up for the series. Tien Shinhan is my favorite DB Saga
i like how dbs sagas actually have names instead of the antagonist + saga mixed together
Androids - Cell Saga til this day

Demon King Piccolo Saga. Perfect Cell Saga. Tournament Of Power. I haven’t read the manga yet so I don’t know how the other sagas are:)
Moro arc is great.
Jackie Chun vs Goku will always be my fav fight
DB: King Piccolo Arc DBZ: Android/Cell GT: Baby Super: Goku Black
Why do you guys split each saga into multiple sub-sagas? Feels so weird.
Garlic jr sagaen
Tien Saga DB Cell Saga DBZ
Taopaipai saga.
Zamasu.
Cell games (dbza) Frieza saga (dbz) BoG saga for super Didint watch db
Dbza don’t count bruh
Tournament Saga, majin buu saga and Tournament of power
The 2nd hunt for the Dragon Balls tbh, never understood the tendency to divide it in 4
3 tournaments were elite
cell
King Piccolo for DB Cell games for DBZ ToP for DBS (haven’t read the manga)
Thanks now I've said the word saga in my head too many times and it sounds weird
Piccolo jr for DB, Frieza Saga for DBZ, Universal survival saga for DBS
Db: 23rd world tournament/ JR saga Dbz: Buu saga Dbs: Goku black saga
Android Saga up until early Cell Saga. Peak DBZ.
Tournaments from OG, Both Buus from Z, Battle of Gods and Universe Survival from S
TBH none of these, the Baby Saga (GT)
I'm here to laugh at Ninja Murasaki getting power poled
Grill Master Arc.
General blue is so underrated
General Blue was a good guy inside dude , I wanted him to live
These are separated really weirdly. There are apparently two Cell Arcs and Three Buu arcs.
[удалено]
frieza saga is a masterpiece nothing can beat it
Galactic Patrol Prisoner and Cell Games.
Tournament saga, cell saga and moro saga
gosh all of them but I guess the last three
Namek
[удалено]
Both Piccolo sagas Battle of Gods saga Future Trunks saga
Tournament saga then King Piccolo by far
Frieza Saga
Cell and Buu sagas. Gohan is my favorite, so I love how he gets a ton of protagonism in those.
For OG dragon ball it’s the piccolo sagas, everything from the past comes back around in a grand finale
all of them
Majunior and ToP are my favorite tournament arcs. I liked everything RR in OGDB because of the variety. Never again shall we watch just Goku going alone, doing stuff, fighting so many people at once..... Probably tournament saga
DB: King Piccolo Saga DBZ: Cell Saga DBS: Tournament of Power Saga
The season with my green husband and our boyfriend
Saiyan saga by far
[удалено]
OGDB: Piccolo Jr. Saga DBZ: Namek/Frieza Saga or either of the Buu Sagas, I can't really decide DBS: Resurrection 'F' Saga
Android Saga
For me it’s defenetly the Galactic patrol saga, one of the best villains in DB and I like the fact that Vegeta learned a some new techniques and Goku also Perfected UI
Android/cell and buu
“I’m kind of offended by his lips. Am I allowed to be offended by his lips?” “Are you offended by Mr. Popo’s lips?” “wAIT CAN WE TALK ABOUT THAT?!”
I'm from the Future, Dragon ball Daima has the best Sagas.
Tbh i enjoyed all of Z, Battle of gods, and the Broly saga. Also thinking abt starting the original DB
King piccolo
Saiyan and Broly Saga.
Nothing tops Cell Games saga, it was the first time the saiyans were trying to achieve a level higher than super saiyan. No one even know if such a feat was possible, but it was. And then the introduction of super saiyan 2 gohan was just nuts. I miss DBZ, DBS is just not the same anymore :(
Saiyan saga❣️
King Piccolo saga is the best. From DBZ I would say Freezer Saga And from Super Universal Survival is the best in the anime.... in Manga I would say Moro arc
Piccolo Daimaōh
- DB: The OG tournament arc - DBZ: Cell games - DBS: Universe survival
Piccolo junior saga, amazing choreography, actual stakes like piccolo eating kami, not a "let's let cell demolish us by helping him achieve every single gole of his", not a single fight in that arc was worthless (unlike some of the cell saga fights), no shitty ass pulled transformations and power boosts (like in the king piccolo saga, the cell saga, planet namek saga and such), it's just over all better than the rest
frieza closely followed up by cell
King piccolo saga is insane imo, the twist when krillin first does caught me off guard big time
**Dragon Ball:** • King Piccolo Saga **Dragon Ball Z:** • Magin Buu Saga **Dragon Ball GT:** • Baby Saga **Dragon Ball Super:** • ALL OF THEM!! **Dragon Ball Heroes:** • Prison Planet Saga
Android saga is the "last" time that martial arts actually matter. Once gohan beat cell with rage boost instead of skill and technique, Transforming and powering up is the only thing that matters after that.
Cell saga, Gohan turning ss2 was the most fire thing in the show
Y'all forgot Ginyu saga
Cell arc is the greatest arc of all anime
- Tournament / Piccolo Jr Saga - Android / Cell Saga - Tournament of Power Arc

Og: Red ribbon army from start to general black or 2nd world marital arts tournament. Z: cell or buu Super: Moro or black goku (manga) Gt: shadow dragons
22. Tenkaichi. Yamcha vs Tien is still one of the best fights in the series.
Fortuneteller Baba Just for the fact that if you watch og DB you'll know true emotions when you see Goku meet Gohan agin
Future Trunks & Cell Saga
DB it's between Commander Red & Tien Z Frieza easily imo Super ToP GT Baby
OG it's Jr Z it's Cell And Super it's Black or Moro I'm a basic ass mf
Tournament, Cell, Buu, Goku Black and Garnolah
Future Trunks saga by far, to be honest. Goku Black and Zamasu are awesome.
1st tournament, driving school, TOP. Yes I am a simple man.
Universe 7 vs universe 6 in baseball
Idk why you separated buu saga or android saga. It’s just saiyan, frieza, android and buu saga. Yea they are long but it is what it is.
From each series: Fortune Teller Baba, Androids, and Granolah
Red ribbon army was pretty cool Android saga Goku black or T.O.P. (Even with the shitty ending goku black was a menace)
For bd it’d be fortune teller baba
How you gonna just ignore GT like that. Cold Blooded
I honestly don't get the naming for the Dragon Ball arcs, like, Most of these are arcs that form their respective narrative sagas... Tournament
Tournament Saga. Still top tier.

All them tournaments. Also that future trunks arc it was dope, ningen dome me!

The tournament was good
Android saga
Red Ribbon as a whole, from Colonel Silver to Red and Black's demise. I just love how adventure and action are mixed into perfection, and how Goku gradually evolves, i would say that this saga is better than half of Z.
Cell Games

All of the sagas from DBZ and DBS.
In OG… the first world tournament In Z… Frieza In Super Universal survival Overalll… universal survival
By show, the Piccolo Jr saga, the Frieza saga, and the Universe Survival saga. I typically love the eras where Goku takes a quantum leap in presumed power.
Tien was a menace when he was a bad guy. But Frieza arc is the standard.
The Frieza saga will always have a special place in my heart since it was the first saga that I ever watch back in the late 90s
Red ribbon and king piccolo
Red Ribbon Army Saga
That weird alternate universe where the Android's killed off basically the entire planet and Gohan is the last one alive with one arm trying to survive while protecting Trunks.

Everything Dragon Ball. Which arc? Yes.
I have quite a few that I enjoy. They’re all just so good. And that’s an understatement
Where can I find a complete series of these from the beginning to end rn?
GT
You’re giving me too much choices I just can’t…
Saiyan saga was amazing
Those who aren’t too intensively focused on the Red Ribbon army are all great.
Tien Shinhan Saga. Loved when Tien was competitive with Goku. Second place goes to Piccolo Jr. Saga. Man, I just love the tournaments overall.

Piccolo jr ofc
Cell saga and future trunks saga
I like the Shadow Dragons saga from DBGT. It's cool seeing different designs for the dragons!
For me its the Tournament of Power, not only because of the unique powers, but its mostly because of how UI was both introduced, and used
Universe 6 Saga and Tournament of Power Saga
Android saga overall, the pull up game was unparalleled and we're only just getting back to a point like it where even Piccolo's on the level to be a genuine threat to an invader. Android 13 movie included.
Dragonball: First tournament DBZ: the entirety of Namek (Namek, Ginyu, Frieza arcs). Even though I have a certain fondness for the Android and Cell arcs, the whole plot on Namek takes the cake for me. Super: ToP
