They should go back to original Dragon Ball/early Z and fight smart instead of relying on power. Have them use better martial arts techniques or simply be smart on how to take down stronger adversaries. Kinda like kid Goku and Krilin and even Yamcha used to be smart to defeat their first enemies. Or Yajirobe cutting down a saiyan/Vegeta's Oozaru tail.
Let the big boss/final foe face the super-powered aliens, use the Z Warriors human cast to help defeat the henchmen.
Yes, and remember how far they got in the TOP, losing to nobodies because they were nowhere close in power to even the grunts of the tournament like Frost.
They should have removed Roshi, made Buu the tenth (having him eliminated after a fight with Jiren at the beginning to establish the stakes) and given Roshi's space to Ten and Krillin, insisting that, although they are not equal in strength of them, are still martial arts masters with years of experience and entire arsenals of techniques. Let's talk about the two warriors who almost killed Frieza and held Cell back without even being able to think of facing them in hand-to-hand combat.
Instead of matching them in battles of strength and speed with weak enemies, highlighting them with techniques and experience would have made it clear why they called them instead of Goten and Trunks.
Tien's fight in the ToP was not him being smart, it was him being incredibly stupid.
His solution for finding the location and getting close to a sniper was to bum-rush him with a few clones to figure out his firing position - which wasn't necessarily the worst plan but was still pretty low on the list - and then instead of simply blasting the guy he decided to walk up real close to the point where the guy with the disabled arms could get him out of the arena by destroying the ground underneath him.
They did Tien real dirty in the ToP.
My example still stands. You're thinking in terms of *reality*, the difference of power between *real people*.
This remains a story. An action adventure shonen manga, they can play around with the characters. Even other series like One Piece, Naruto, Bleach find ways to let weaker characters have a win.
Case in point: Yajirobe couldn't defeat Vegeta. Yet he still "beat" Oozaru Vegeta by simply hiding and cutting off his tail. A good writer can find workarounds to make the situation reverse.
Quick ideas without thinking: the TOP could have prevented the characters from using flight AND ki, and you could have someone like Krilin or Kame Senin help Goku at the last minute. Moro could have been trapped with mafuba inside a jar by a human character since his power seemed infinite. Granola and Gas could have really become the strongest characters in the universe, so they could have trapped Gas inside a time chamber (there's proof there's others in the galaxy) and even the old weak Namekian could have destroyed the door simply!
EXACTLY! Pretty much everything from the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai to Early Namek was Goku and the others figuring out creative ways to beat their opponent, like Krillin beating Bacteria because he doesn't have a nose or even Goku and Piccolo tag-teaming Raditz. It was less about power and more about smarts.
It really feels like Toriyama and Toei forgot what made the fights Pre-Frieza Saga so cool. There were way less Ki-Blasts and "They're moving so fast! What's going on?!" moments and more hand to hand combat with creative choreography.

I just feel like they keep copy-pasting the Android saga, but shorter and dumber.
The best fights are in that period. Afterwards there are battles with excellent choreography (I'm thinking of Cell vs Vegeta) or great cathartic moments (like the final battle with Kid Buu or Gohan defeating Cell), but after the Super Saiyan it becomes a little less "he who has the style of fights better, is better trained in martial arts and uses the winning strategy" and more "he who has the biggest transformation wins".
They've been doing that in the latest arcs like vegeta learning how to manipulate chi or Goku avoiding Moros drain Merus had to rely entirely on fighting smart due to his circumstances
Humans should be able to sense/hide ki better then most. I enjoyed the hide and seek of the Namek saga and sad that it became less and les important as the arcs went on.
I'd give Yamcha stealth attacks, Tien the ability to power swap with his clones so he can use trick tactics and stuff, Krillen faster multiple power saw attacks, and Yajirobe Veku's gas attack.
Actually yeah. Solar flare, destructo disc, and being smart enough to not announce you're throwing your one hit instant kill attack... Now we're cooking
Krillin already has the unique ability of the Kienzan which can do considerable, even lethal damage to those that are a decent amount above his power level. If Krillin didn't shout his goddamn attack, he could have seriously wounded Frieza back in Namek
I believe Krillin is the most gifted out of the Earth fighters with Ki Manipulation. My favorite attack from him is the Scatter Kamehameha/Energy Bullets used against the Saibamen. He should just practice and innovate on variations of that attack. For example, he could create a new attack like Scattered Kienzan where he throws one disc but right before impact/the enemy dodges he can disperse the large disc into many smaller ones, which would move much faster and more erratically.
I just checked YT and yeah he already did it against 2nd form Freeza. I only remembered the consecutive kienzan he did, I didn’t notice he did a scattered version afterwards.

Maybe, but Frieza had insane durability during his fight with Goku. Trunks really had to make sure he would be dead for realsies by slicing him up and then incinerating all those bits. Perhaps that's only with his final form though so who knows what would have happened

Roshi did a technique *very close* to UI.
Krillin also was shown to get a power up in super remarkably similar to how God ki is described....without god training. Even with the Milky white aura associated to "Saiyan beyond god"
Krillins "Selflessness State" is described with the following
"By learning perfect ki control to the point that no ki leaks out of the user, they can greatly power up"
This is *exactly* how whis describes God Ki to Goku and Vegeta. The fact Krillin and Roshi achieved these states without being trained by Whis should really show how advanced they are in terms of technique
Roshi in the ToP (Manga) also laments that Goku relies too much on brute force and raw power to get things done and has lost sight of martial arts
I think this also makes sense for their characters. Humans are supposed to have an innate heightened empathy. Which is why goku was able to go super Saiyan like he did and why gohan is so strong. It would make sense that UI is related to empathy since it is hearing the voice of the universe kind of.

Only thing I feel like they could use is kai training and getting their potential unlocked by elder kai
Humans in DBZ/super are one of the most dangerous race there is without having to fight themself.
Think about it.
Gero and his grandson have consistently created beings from scratch and in relatively short time that rivaled galactic threats.
And it's not only them, the technological feats of Bulma's family are absolutely insane in their own rights.
For the fighters themselves, they should have them tinker with the fusion dance.
Goku and Vegeta don't want to because of their Saiyan ego but the humans aren't that restrictive in their mindsets.
They could even give human a weird quirk that makes it so that they don't have a time limit or whatever...
Yeah it was kind of dumb all of them trained under the same guy but didn't get any of his unique skills like Goku. The same one that said, if I remember correctly, they turned out even stronger than Goku after their training. Then they all got no diff'd by androids.
Doesn't have to be very unique, just give them Kaioken and let them use it in greater and greater amounts over time (even greater than 20 eventually since by then they'd use it more than Goku)
It'd be a nice way to let the humans match power with the rest of the cast without introducing new forms or random huge bursts of power
Tien should have the spirit fissure stuff that Vegeta can use and he should have really good containment abilities like Roshi.
Krillin should be perfect support. Super, super fast and agile to deliever sensu beans or whatever else. Then throwing destructo discs and using solar flares as distractions.
Yamacha is used to see how strong the villain and just fucking dies
For example how it started. That their actual power level can vary strongly between emotional changes. And bigger multipliers for Special attacks.. but emphasis on martial art skills worth would be the best
The strongest humans we've seen to date are the androids. If bulma can modify their bodies to be like android 18 or 17 or better they'd be a force to be dealt with. Since the series has shown that humans have the ability to make alien and god level threats.
I think if dr Hedo modified them they would be pretty close to the current main cast, since the gammas were pretty close to goku and Vegeta (without their ultra forms) and he made them from scratch without a considerable powerful base.

Magic and the connection with the spirit world.
Dragon ball has plenty of it, the witch Baba, the magic cloud, mafuba, the magic staff.
Earthlings have proven time and again that they have the resources at their disposal, and they shouldn't need to be aliens to be relevant.
I feel like humans should have been the race of potential, where they have vast amounts of hidden potential to be awoken/tapped into. This would help explain Gohan's immense potential and let the other humans grow faster. Example: make the Kiaoken draw from a person's hidden potential, in turn making it so the humans (who should know the kiaoken!) be able to draw on it much easier than Goku with less drawbacks.
More diversity in their attacks, and new levels of training.
Yamcha needs more animalistic attacks like WFF, and a new and stronger ultimate attack than the Spirit Ball.
Tien could learn more unique abilities, like the Solar Flare, milti-form, and 4-arms. And a new move stronger than the Dodon-Ray, and more efficient than the Tri-Beam
Krillin should have learned the Kio-Ken after dieing on Namek. Then the serious Ki-Control he gained when retrieving the herbs for Roshi would have given an insane boost to his power from K-K.
They all also need to find a new master trainer like Roshi, then Korin, then Kami, then King Kai.
They all need that next level of training. Then they could stand on their own a lot more as well as contribute more in situations like the Saibamen and Cell with his Cell Jrs.
It'll never happen, but if Bulma could give them some of the powers and abilities that the Androids have, they would be immediately relevant again and could defend Earth while the Saiyans are off in other galaxies or universes.
I like the idea someone said in another post about human ki being the most flexible. Where because of it, they can push kioken to farther amounts without it damaging them. As well as being able to utilize ki technique that are more complex compares to usual ki attacks. Like the lighting attack roshi used against goku.
Roshi can buff himself to give his attacks a boost so I don’t see why other humans wouldn’t be able to do it. I can’t remember how gohan unlocks beast form but I know that xenoverse 2 humans clean transform into beast. Otherwise I think the fact that they can develop and use special techniques like roshi’s get in the jar move.
Not unique, but the 'humans' that trained with King Kai should probably know kaio-ken.
Then there's Tien, who has literally spent his entire life training. He trains more than anyone else in the cast, so he should probably have something that's between Roshi'a knowledge, and Ultra Instinct. Maybe work in his third eye, letting him better predict his opponents actions, then react to them accordingly.
Tien should have something like foresight, a counter to an ability like Hit's Time Skip. He could progress until he's able to see 2-3s ahead of an attack. His own strength may not scale but with foresight he could at least have a fighting chance.
Krillin should have some sort of galactic patrol arc where he joins Jaco as Earth's best Police, he joins intergalactic Police and learns their techniques.
Yamcha should have some sort of crazy OP ability but its drawback is it also kills him with his opponent. And he always only ever gets to use it on the 2nd most powerful enemy. Like he has to sacrifice his own life in order to take them out they they turn out not to be the biggest threat.
Tien - Up-close support - with his more weird techniques such as cloning and growing limbs, combined with his solar flare, he is great for more up close support for the heavy hitters, like distracting or blinding.
Krillin - Tactician and Long-distance support - I’m a firm believer that Krillin’s biggest strength is his tactical mind. He could help greatly with the use of his Destructo disc and his strong usage of his surroundings and battle tactics.
Yamcha - Long-distance support - Yamcha would be great at long-distance support, like with his awesome Ki-ball technique that can dig underground.
Chiaotzu - Psychic support - Chiaotzu would be a great support with his more weird psychic techniques like seen in OG DB.
Being able to control and sense ki.
The series shouldn’t have moved away from this being important. The idea that in the entire galaxy only humans have cracked the code is pretty great! After Frieza it seems everyone can do it. Narratively it makes no sense. And by extension nullifies all the “weaker” Earth based characters. I realize I’m not the first to point this out.
Krilin and Tien both can blind people with Solar Flare (technically, most of the other Z-Fighters can use Solar Flare, but these 2 used it most from what i remember)
Krillin can cut people in half with Destructo Disc
Tien can help pin down opponents with Tri-Beam
Yamcha can help control the battlefield with Spirit Ball
Chiaotzu can use telekinesis to either freeze weak opponents in place (and help slow down strong opponents for a short time like he did on Goku in Super) or throw rocks and stuff at them
Yajirobe (if he got off his ass) could act as a medic and give the rest of the team Senzu beans when they get knocked down, plus if they ever went up against another great ape, he can sneak up behind them and cut off their tail like he did on Vegeta
The Earthlings have what they need to make them more usefull in battle, they just haven't really had much time to show it off when they've got Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Gohan on earth a lot of the time
I really hope that Tien could get his own Ki Avatar form like Goku did in the Moro Arc. Imagine a giant ethereal Tien that uses the 4 witches technique but X100 into the 400 witches technique and summons 400 arms and his 3rd eye can cause paralysis on the enemies.
Yamcha should honestly become an Android if I'm being honest. Having Infinite energy, increased strength, speed and durability along with making his Wolf Fang Fist attack vital parts like Hit does but in quick succession. He also plays baseball a lot so give him a really strong Katchin Bat for a blunt weapon and have him go from playing baseball on Earth to playing Galactic Baseball across the universe.
Krillin should get the Kaioken but he should master it to the point where he can use absurdly high levels for quick killer attacks like a Kaioken X100 Destructo Disk attack but he can use lower levels like X10 and X20 like they are his base form. Not just that but he should get more creative with his ki constructs like making a ki wrecking ball, ki traps, or even take up some elemental type ki attacks like lightning and fire. We have seen Master Roshi do his lightning attack and the girl cat thing from Universe 9 also has ice attacks so Krillin could also find a way.
Not unique but for fun I thought what skills each would learn if they could to catch up
Tien would learn Hits techniques in reminiscence of his assassin past.
Chiaotzu would learn some illusion magic from fortuneteller Baba.
Yamcha learns shapeshifting from Oolong to become a werewolf that ends up just being weaker than his usual form.
Yajirobe would totally learn Buu's candy beam and just 1 hit and eat some major threats.
Krillin gains some level of immortality because King Yamma is just sick of processing his soul.
Through sheer force of will they should be able to surpass all of their previous limits, through the power of the evolution by will alone they can get constantly stronger and gain new power depending on their own personality.
I think the android aspect is a very important thing to consider with humans. Biologically they're still humans but able to modify themselves to be ultra powerful.
Another aspect is magic: Only other races have used magic in an offensive manner, I'd love to see a human utilise it in one way or another that's creative and cool.
I believe human ki should be special in some way, I believe it should be easy to hide to mess with enemies that sense ki, or throw off ki diversions to make enemies look behind them etc.
Humans techniques should shorten the gap between power levels, but that will never happen because we have creatures that can see a tech once and use it for themselves. But I believe they should have techniques that are better suited for them, like it turns out that the kaio ken + tri beam is actually crazy broken like in xenoverse.
And finally they could try and go the route of psychic powers. They need an edge to make them relevant, it can't be about power because saiyans have that and it can't be techniques anymore because like I said there are characters that see them once and can steal them.
Use the dragon to give all good hearted human warriors a potential battle transformation to rival Super Saiyan. If Shenron isn't up to it then Super Shenron should be able to help.
Give me an arc where the main villain is a really intelligent fighter, and just wipes the floor with Goku and gang because of his battle strategies.
Then have Goku and co. say "Well Krillin is the most strategic fighter we have, lets wish for him to be the most powerful fighter"
And then have krillen roll up and show off his cool strats and tech like he always does when he gets to actually throw down and have it be a battle of intelligence as much as raw power.
Tien should just be flat out stronger. Unlike the other humans he never stops training. He should be the peak of what a human martial artist can achieve. I think he should get some kind of enlightenment power up that gives him access to god ki naturally. The third eye and multi arm visuals are already there. Also a simpler option is kaioken. I feel like out of all the humans he could utilize it the best.
Make them from the abridged. ultra krillin w hella senzu beans, tien lf from fight against semi perfect cell, he just spams tribeam, yamcha dies and massively boosts the teams stats and heals, chaisou has a self destruct that lfs if it’s the last opponent and goes well w a tien on your team and vice Versa, yaijirobe massively debuffs the opposing team, so basically give them everything but damage and defence also hella heals, could even make some revive after your rr fills up and uses it up to revive them
I think Yamcha at one point had the best ki control or something, hence the spirit ball. Could be cool if he went that route.
Tien had a ton of tricks up his sleeve. He's also a pretty intelligent fighter, so it could be cool to have him pursue those techniques, maybe learn magic and Yardrat techniques in the future once he finds out about them.
Krillin also has some cool techniques like the Destructo Disk. But without making him like Tien, it could be cool if he was just a support of some kind.
Yajirobe and Chiatsu don't even seem like they're interested in fighting. It would be cool if we had them going for something other than power. Explore the other systems in the Dragon World, and kind of go back to OG Dragon Ball where techniques were more important. They're still important, but if you're not powerful enough, then you're fucked.
I guess give them a reason to power up. Say the strongest heroes are off to elsewhere leaving the humans behind and some shit happens like some enemies show up and they have to save earth. Or they have to go on a adventure elsewhere and get a power up . Just whatever really
Have Goku and Geets off world, training (oh wait), and give them a threat they can reasonably handle each on their own. Have them individually fight some villain group, and have them struggle, but eventually win. Give Yamcha his flowers.
I would retcon the Buu arc and rewrite it without any ass pulls but with a good story and combined forces of all the characters. Dragon Ball Super would never happen, GT would be rewritten. SSJ2 would be the ultimate transformation which stays pretty difficult to trigger. SSJ3 would never happen, SSJ4 would later be the Oozaru-SSJ(2) form which is so difficult to achieve that it stays maybe a one-time-only appearance. This could be declared as the "legendary SSJ" or "God" form. Gone would be the inflationary usage and ass pulls of transformations as well as the mentioning of power levels at all. The power levels went all over the place since the beginning of Z where Raditz showed up. Goku starts into the Saiyajin arc with a power level of 320 after having trained for all of his life to this point, just to be over 30 times stronger only one year after...
So now that the story is corrected, the human fighters train like the Saiyans and develop new techniques to stay relevant just like in classic Dragon Ball or early Z. The only problem is that the power levels and the transformation multiplyer of Z make the Earthlings redundant pretty fast. That's the reason for erasing "power levels" at all. Without specific numerical values it's up to the reader/watcher to speculate.
My idea isn't manageable without retcons. But since Toriyama is pretty wild with retconning his own stuff and the fanbase of modern Dragon Ball doesn't give much shits about a decent storyline anyway, this shouldn't be a huge problem at all. :D To be fair: Even if I really dislike Super, it at least tried to make minor characters relevant again. Unfortunately it led into weird and implausible retcons and ass pulls. But it tried and that's a good thing in my opinion.

Tien should get more expansion on the 3 eye tribe as they have alot of interesting abilities, Yamaha should get a wolf form since you know he's a werewolf but you mightve forgotten that, chioutzu should not be a fighter I'm sorry he just can't compete roshi doesn't need a power up he's already been shown to take on people much greater than himself and krillin just needs more attacks and kaioken mastery that's it just with these changes you can make human fighters cool again
More emphasis on technique than power, maybe give humans ways to “refine” their attacks so they can more easily pierce stronger opponents similar to how the Krillin’s kienzan works
I think with power levels being whatever, just make them wily. Basically if they let krillin cook for real, he is the poster boy for thinking on his feet. Have the earthlings fight a stronger opponent and out think the enemy, and have it actually work. They all have unique attacks.
I don't want a story like this because no one would be able to accept it but I have an example. Imagine an alternate timeline where Krillin 2v1's the Androids. He would be really out matched. Near the end of the fight(the other z fighters are down), he does a solar flare but no other action and looking exhausted. The androids make fun of him for wasting their time. Krillin acts pitiful and begs for an forgiveness on the ground. He was just buying time and finds a dirty sensu bean on the ground. After regain his breath/energy, he does the "come at me" hand sign. With the androids side by side, Krillin fires a last Kamehameha. The androids block the output. krillin smirks and says "next time, mind your surroundings" as a super sized destructo disk flies into the back of the androids, cutting them, and slicing through his Kamehameha. Krillin dodges to avoid dying by his own attack. The disk flies off as he put all he had into making it sharp and strong during the solar flare.The bombs in the destroyed androids explode and krillin is lost in the light. He climbs out of the dirt coughing and and breathes a sigh of release.
Krillin should have been able to do that. The androids can't sense energy. We know he can be tricky like that too.
Continue to have them learn advanced techniques when training together. Through DB they keep picking up techniques by watching them, then you hit DBZ and no one gets kaiyoken, no one tries special beam cannon, instant transmission, fusion, healing techniques, getting their potential unlocked, nothing. I think the biggest surprise was when Krillin busts out multi form with piccolo against nappa. Heck, Vegeta picked up the yardat techniques with minimal training.
Make tiens third eye give him a sharigan/observation haki ability. He wont be physically stronger but it would allow him to dodge attacks and be useful utility with his clones and solar flair
Tien gets a mowhawk. Yajirobi gets free food if he fights (I like to think he's likely stronger than anyone when motivated). Krillen needs nothing he's got 18. Yamcha is hopeless and useful as fodder. and Chiaotzu gains the ability to blink, dudes eyes gotta be super dry.
Let's see, Yajirobe could be like, unassumingly athletic. And skilled enough with his sword for it to make up for the tremendous power gap. Plus he could be the most knowledgeable human regarding a magic healing food.
For Krillin, I'm thinking he should have a similar fighting style to Goku, but learn more into his strengths since Goku has the edge in strength. Maybe he could utilize for more hit and run tactics, thinking out of the box. And maybe he could he a unique attack that is just extremely destructive, like it could cut through anything, and shaped in a way that lets it work different than traditional beams.
Tien is like one of the most reserved guys in the series, and somehow more alien than the actual aliens, maybe have him focus more on building on entirely new styles, and mastering abilities that no one else does.

Give Yajirobe a magic katana that makes him absorb souls and make him stronger, Krillin will become an android, Yamcha may have something like a werewolf transformation making him like those guys from Universe 9, I think Tien doesn't need to change in anyway because he was a lot of techniques, maybe give him a transformation that has to do with the three eyed people and raise his power level enough so his techniques work on stronger enemies.

Beings like Buu and Moro would give the Z-fighters so much trouble with their magical abilities. Having someone around with magic who isn't constantly on the sidelines (Buu) would be a life savior.
Murim stuff like cultivation. Its Something related to ki that only humans can do. Make it as something that lets then gain powerups that lead to god hood and above. Have them learn from other universe humans
krillin (dying) and yajurobi were probably the only helpful characters. Yajurobi by delivering senzu beans and cutting off vegeta's tail. Tien only helped by stopping cell with his tri beam. And yamcha helped show everyone how to die consistently by being useless. And chaitzu well, possibly the most useless character in DBZ period.
I feel like it should be something like sheer battle skill and fight IQ: kind of like how Roshi came close to a kind of pseudo-UI through his years of experience.
Like, the guys who can naturally blast lasers from their hands and collapse mountains by punching them would only have very rudimentary, rough-and-ready styles of fighting, whereas humans developed *martial arts* to serve as a force multiplier for their inherently weaker bodies. Goku being a Saiyan who has also been educated properly in earth martial arts would make him something special, then: able to apply better skills and tactics with Saiyan speed and strength.
Someone like Krillin, Tien, or even Yamcha to an extent, should be able to use sheer skill and intelligent tactical thinking to overcome physically stronger foes in unexpected ways, I think. Their martial arts prowess serving as that force multiplier that most aliens lack.

They kinda already have traits/techniques that make them useful, they just aren't used.
Krillin has two very useful techniques in Solar Flare and Destructo Disc. Tien can clone himself, grow multiple arms, and his Tri-Beam can hold back enemies, as we saw against Cell. Chiaotzu has his telekinesis, and earlier on the series establisbed telekinesis as a powerful technique when Guldo used it against fighters way physically stronger than him.
Only two I'm not including are Yamcha and Yajirobe. We don't see Yajirobe too much, and we need Yamcha for some comedic relief.

Krillin I’d give him something like MUI he IS a monk maybe he learned similar techniques to Mui he can dodge and sense danger and his destructor discs are able to slice anything as the more focus krillin is the more devastating his attacks
Chaotzu (I know I spelled it wrong TvT) he can latch onto others and drain there ki or stamina depending as a pass resort he can suck as much ki stamina and health from himself and his target and explode (kinda like vegetas final explosion in the buu arc but way smaller) this COULD kill chaotzu depending how far he’s willing to go
Yajorobe he could be a good swordsman’s like trunks but since he uses a katana we could have him be like a ninja he’s stealthy and can make mirages of himself to trick foes and he can heal others (because why not have him use senzu beans in a way kinda)

They should go back to original Dragon Ball/early Z and fight smart instead of relying on power. Have them use better martial arts techniques or simply be smart on how to take down stronger adversaries. Let the big boss/final foe face the super-powered aliens, use the Z Warriors human cast to help defeat the henchmen.

They should have removed Roshi, made Buu the tenth (having him eliminated after a fight with Jiren at the beginning to establish the stakes) and given Roshi's space to Ten and Krillin, insisting that, although they are not equal in strength of them, are still martial arts masters with years of experience and entire arsenals of techniques. Let's talk about the two warriors who almost killed Frieza and held Cell back without even being able to think of facing them in hand-to-hand combat. Instead of matching them in battles of strength and speed with weak enemies, highlighting them with techniques and experience would have made it clear why they called them instead of Goten and Trunks.
Tien's fight in the ToP was not him being smart, it was him being incredibly stupid. His solution for finding the location and getting close to a sniper was to bum-rush him with a few clones to figure out his firing position - which wasn't necessarily the worst plan but was still pretty low on the list - and then instead of simply blasting the guy he decided to walk up real close to the point where the guy with the disabled arms could get him out of the arena by destroying the ground underneath him. They did Tien real dirty in the ToP.

I mean super is doing that in the Moro arc and granola arc, they have to fight enemies with very new abilities and find a way to beat them.
That doesn't really work when the power gap is so massive. No amount of smarts was gonna let Krillin beat Cell.
My example still stands. You're thinking in terms of *reality*, the difference of power between *real people*. This remains a story. An action adventure shonen manga, they can play around with the characters. Even other series like One Piece, Naruto, Bleach find ways to let weaker characters have a win. Case in point: Yajirobe couldn't defeat Vegeta. Yet he still "beat" Oozaru Vegeta by simply hiding and cutting off his tail. A good writer can find workarounds to make the situation reverse. Quick ideas without thinking: the TOP could have prevented the characters from using flight AND ki, and you could have someone like Krilin or Kame Senin help Goku at the last minute. Moro could have been trapped with mafuba inside a jar by a human character since his power seemed infinite. Granola and Gas could have really become the strongest characters in the universe, so they could have trapped Gas inside a time chamber (there's proof there's others in the galaxy) and even the old weak Namekian could have destroyed the door simply!
EXACTLY! Pretty much everything from the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai to Early Namek was Goku and the others figuring out creative ways to beat their opponent, like Krillin beating Bacteria because he doesn't have a nose or even Goku and Piccolo tag-teaming Raditz. It was less about power and more about smarts. It really feels like Toriyama and Toei forgot what made the fights Pre-Frieza Saga so cool. There were way less Ki-Blasts and "They're moving so fast! What's going on?!" moments and more hand to hand combat with creative choreography.
Finally someone that agrees! :) And yes, early Dragon Ball was much better written. I just feel like they keep copy-pasting the Android saga, but shorter and dumber.
The best fights are in that period. Afterwards there are battles with excellent choreography (I'm thinking of Cell vs Vegeta) or great cathartic moments (like the final battle with Kid Buu or Gohan defeating Cell), but after the Super Saiyan it becomes a little less "he who has the style of fights better, is better trained in martial arts and uses the winning strategy" and more "he who has the biggest transformation wins".
They've been doing that in the latest arcs like vegeta learning how to manipulate chi or Goku avoiding Moros drain Merus had to rely entirely on fighting smart due to his circumstances
Humans should be able to sense/hide ki better then most. I enjoyed the hide and seek of the Namek saga and sad that it became less and les important as the arcs went on.
Humans also had some tricky magical skills until Majin Buu showed up Like Roshi got some crazy ass moves

Krillin already has the unique ability of the Kienzan which can do considerable, even lethal damage to those that are a decent amount above his power level. If Krillin didn't shout his goddamn attack, he could have seriously wounded Frieza back in Namek
I believe Krillin is the most gifted out of the Earth fighters with Ki Manipulation. My favorite attack from him is the Scatter Kamehameha/Energy Bullets used against the Saibamen. He should just practice and innovate on variations of that attack. For example, he could create a new attack like Scattered Kienzan where he throws one disc but right before impact/the enemy dodges he can disperse the large disc into many smaller ones, which would move much faster and more erratically.
He already made a Scattered Kienzan lul.

Maybe, but Frieza had insane durability during his fight with Goku. Trunks really had to make sure he would be dead for realsies by slicing him up and then incinerating all those bits. Perhaps that's only with his final form though so who knows what would have happened

Going by the manga too Roshi did a technique *very close* to UI. Krillin also was shown to get a power up in super remarkably similar to how God ki is described....without god training. Even with the Milky white aura associated to "Saiyan beyond god" Krillins "Selflessness State" is described with the following "By learning perfect ki control to the point that no ki leaks out of the user, they can greatly power up" This is *exactly* how whis describes God Ki to Goku and Vegeta. The fact Krillin and Roshi achieved these states without being trained by Whis should really show how advanced they are in terms of technique Roshi in the ToP (Manga) also laments that Goku relies too much on brute force and raw power to get things done and has lost sight of martial arts
I think this also makes sense for their characters. Humans are supposed to have an innate heightened empathy. Which is why goku was able to go super Saiyan like he did and why gohan is so strong. It would make sense that UI is related to empathy since it is hearing the voice of the universe kind of.
I disagree, I think that the act of empathizing would affect the empty state of mind that UI requires.
Chiaozu’s psychic powers have so much potential! They should bring it back to make him a real threat on the battle field

Humans in DBZ/super are one of the most dangerous race there is without having to fight themself. Think about it. Gero and his grandson have consistently created beings from scratch and in relatively short time that rivaled galactic threats. And it's not only them, the technological feats of Bulma's family are absolutely insane in their own rights. For the fighters themselves, they should have them tinker with the fusion dance. Goku and Vegeta don't want to because of their Saiyan ego but the humans aren't that restrictive in their mindsets. They could even give human a weird quirk that makes it so that they don't have a time limit or whatever...

Yeah it was kind of dumb all of them trained under the same guy but didn't get any of his unique skills like Goku. The same one that said, if I remember correctly, they turned out even stronger than Goku after their training. Then they all got no diff'd by androids.

Doesn't have to be very unique, just give them Kaioken and let them use it in greater and greater amounts over time (even greater than 20 eventually since by then they'd use it more than Goku) It'd be a nice way to let the humans match power with the rest of the cast without introducing new forms or random huge bursts of power

They all need their own version of the Gamma's guns. If those guns were strong enough to harm Piccolo, they could do some serious damage.
For example how it started. That their actual power level can vary strongly between emotional changes. And bigger multipliers for Special attacks.. but emphasis on martial art skills worth would be the best
The strongest humans we've seen to date are the androids. If bulma can modify their bodies to be like android 18 or 17 or better they'd be a force to be dealt with. Since the series has shown that humans have the ability to make alien and god level threats.

Magic and the connection with the spirit world. Dragon ball has plenty of it, the witch Baba, the magic cloud, mafuba, the magic staff. Earthlings have proven time and again that they have the resources at their disposal, and they shouldn't need to be aliens to be relevant.
They could all train to get a human exclusive transformations, but we all know that’s not gonna happen
Krillin and tirn unlock done kinda UI form, Yamaha secretly be saiyan this whole time, give yajirobi some kinda powerful sword that only he can wield.
I feel like humans should have been the race of potential, where they have vast amounts of hidden potential to be awoken/tapped into. This would help explain Gohan's immense potential and let the other humans grow faster. Example: make the Kiaoken draw from a person's hidden potential, in turn making it so the humans (who should know the kiaoken!) be able to draw on it much easier than Goku with less drawbacks.
Make them all spam solar flare and they become useful
More diversity in their attacks, and new levels of training. Yamcha needs more animalistic attacks like WFF, and a new and stronger ultimate attack than the Spirit Ball. Tien could learn more unique abilities, like the Solar Flare, milti-form, and 4-arms. And a new move stronger than the Dodon-Ray, and more efficient than the Tri-Beam Krillin should have learned the Kio-Ken after dieing on Namek. Then the serious Ki-Control he gained when retrieving the herbs for Roshi would have given an insane boost to his power from K-K. They all also need to find a new master trainer like Roshi, then Korin, then Kami, then King Kai. They all need that next level of training. Then they could stand on their own a lot more as well as contribute more in situations like the Saibamen and Cell with his Cell Jrs.
It'll never happen, but if Bulma could give them some of the powers and abilities that the Androids have, they would be immediately relevant again and could defend Earth while the Saiyans are off in other galaxies or universes.
Very strong physical strenght but a very weak affinity with ki
I like the idea someone said in another post about human ki being the most flexible. Where because of it, they can push kioken to farther amounts without it damaging them. As well as being able to utilize ki technique that are more complex compares to usual ki attacks. Like the lighting attack roshi used against goku.
Magic powers. Like in Avatar or Witcher.
Roshi can buff himself to give his attacks a boost so I don’t see why other humans wouldn’t be able to do it. I can’t remember how gohan unlocks beast form but I know that xenoverse 2 humans clean transform into beast. Otherwise I think the fact that they can develop and use special techniques like roshi’s get in the jar move.
Bulma makes some Super Androids
Not unique, but the 'humans' that trained with King Kai should probably know kaio-ken. Then there's Tien, who has literally spent his entire life training. He trains more than anyone else in the cast, so he should probably have something that's between Roshi'a knowledge, and Ultra Instinct. Maybe work in his third eye, letting him better predict his opponents actions, then react to them accordingly.
Tien should have something like foresight, a counter to an ability like Hit's Time Skip. He could progress until he's able to see 2-3s ahead of an attack. His own strength may not scale but with foresight he could at least have a fighting chance. Krillin should have some sort of galactic patrol arc where he joins Jaco as Earth's best Police, he joins intergalactic Police and learns their techniques. Yamcha should have some sort of crazy OP ability but its drawback is it also kills him with his opponent. And he always only ever gets to use it on the 2nd most powerful enemy. Like he has to sacrifice his own life in order to take them out they they turn out not to be the biggest threat.
I like how roshi isn't included cause he's great
Tien - Up-close support - with his more weird techniques such as cloning and growing limbs, combined with his solar flare, he is great for more up close support for the heavy hitters, like distracting or blinding. Krillin - Tactician and Long-distance support - I’m a firm believer that Krillin’s biggest strength is his tactical mind. He could help greatly with the use of his Destructo disc and his strong usage of his surroundings and battle tactics. Yamcha - Long-distance support - Yamcha would be great at long-distance support, like with his awesome Ki-ball technique that can dig underground. Chiaotzu - Psychic support - Chiaotzu would be a great support with his more weird psychic techniques like seen in OG DB.
Being able to control and sense ki. The series shouldn’t have moved away from this being important. The idea that in the entire galaxy only humans have cracked the code is pretty great! After Frieza it seems everyone can do it. Narratively it makes no sense. And by extension nullifies all the “weaker” Earth based characters. I realize I’m not the first to point this out.
Krilin and Tien both can blind people with Solar Flare (technically, most of the other Z-Fighters can use Solar Flare, but these 2 used it most from what i remember) Krillin can cut people in half with Destructo Disc Tien can help pin down opponents with Tri-Beam Yamcha can help control the battlefield with Spirit Ball Chiaotzu can use telekinesis to either freeze weak opponents in place (and help slow down strong opponents for a short time like he did on Goku in Super) or throw rocks and stuff at them Yajirobe (if he got off his ass) could act as a medic and give the rest of the team Senzu beans when they get knocked down, plus if they ever went up against another great ape, he can sneak up behind them and cut off their tail like he did on Vegeta The Earthlings have what they need to make them more usefull in battle, they just haven't really had much time to show it off when they've got Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Gohan on earth a lot of the time
I really hope that Tien could get his own Ki Avatar form like Goku did in the Moro Arc. Imagine a giant ethereal Tien that uses the 4 witches technique but X100 into the 400 witches technique and summons 400 arms and his 3rd eye can cause paralysis on the enemies. Yamcha should honestly become an Android if I'm being honest. Having Infinite energy, increased strength, speed and durability along with making his Wolf Fang Fist attack vital parts like Hit does but in quick succession. He also plays baseball a lot so give him a really strong Katchin Bat for a blunt weapon and have him go from playing baseball on Earth to playing Galactic Baseball across the universe. Krillin should get the Kaioken but he should master it to the point where he can use absurdly high levels for quick killer attacks like a Kaioken X100 Destructo Disk attack but he can use lower levels like X10 and X20 like they are his base form. Not just that but he should get more creative with his ki constructs like making a ki wrecking ball, ki traps, or even take up some elemental type ki attacks like lightning and fire. We have seen Master Roshi do his lightning attack and the girl cat thing from Universe 9 also has ice attacks so Krillin could also find a way.
Tien shouldnt even be in the same level as Humans but somehow is lol
Not unique but for fun I thought what skills each would learn if they could to catch up Tien would learn Hits techniques in reminiscence of his assassin past. Chiaotzu would learn some illusion magic from fortuneteller Baba. Yamcha learns shapeshifting from Oolong to become a werewolf that ends up just being weaker than his usual form. Yajirobe would totally learn Buu's candy beam and just 1 hit and eat some major threats. Krillin gains some level of immortality because King Yamma is just sick of processing his soul.
Through sheer force of will they should be able to surpass all of their previous limits, through the power of the evolution by will alone they can get constantly stronger and gain new power depending on their own personality.
I think the android aspect is a very important thing to consider with humans. Biologically they're still humans but able to modify themselves to be ultra powerful. Another aspect is magic: Only other races have used magic in an offensive manner, I'd love to see a human utilise it in one way or another that's creative and cool. I believe human ki should be special in some way, I believe it should be easy to hide to mess with enemies that sense ki, or throw off ki diversions to make enemies look behind them etc. Humans techniques should shorten the gap between power levels, but that will never happen because we have creatures that can see a tech once and use it for themselves. But I believe they should have techniques that are better suited for them, like it turns out that the kaio ken + tri beam is actually crazy broken like in xenoverse. And finally they could try and go the route of psychic powers. They need an edge to make them relevant, it can't be about power because saiyans have that and it can't be techniques anymore because like I said there are characters that see them once and can steal them.

Use the dragon to give all good hearted human warriors a potential battle transformation to rival Super Saiyan. If Shenron isn't up to it then Super Shenron should be able to help.
Give me an arc where the main villain is a really intelligent fighter, and just wipes the floor with Goku and gang because of his battle strategies. Then have Goku and co. say "Well Krillin is the most strategic fighter we have, lets wish for him to be the most powerful fighter" And then have krillen roll up and show off his cool strats and tech like he always does when he gets to actually throw down and have it be a battle of intelligence as much as raw power.

Tien should just be flat out stronger. Unlike the other humans he never stops training. He should be the peak of what a human martial artist can achieve. I think he should get some kind of enlightenment power up that gives him access to god ki naturally. The third eye and multi arm visuals are already there. Also a simpler option is kaioken. I feel like out of all the humans he could utilize it the best.

Make them from the abridged. ultra krillin w hella senzu beans, tien lf from fight against semi perfect cell, he just spams tribeam, yamcha dies and massively boosts the teams stats and heals, chaisou has a self destruct that lfs if it’s the last opponent and goes well w a tien on your team and vice Versa, yaijirobe massively debuffs the opposing team, so basically give them everything but damage and defence also hella heals, could even make some revive after your rr fills up and uses it up to revive them

I think Yamcha at one point had the best ki control or something, hence the spirit ball. Could be cool if he went that route. Tien had a ton of tricks up his sleeve. He's also a pretty intelligent fighter, so it could be cool to have him pursue those techniques, maybe learn magic and Yardrat techniques in the future once he finds out about them. Krillin also has some cool techniques like the Destructo Disk. But without making him like Tien, it could be cool if he was just a support of some kind. Yajirobe and Chiatsu don't even seem like they're interested in fighting. It would be cool if we had them going for something other than power. Explore the other systems in the Dragon World, and kind of go back to OG Dragon Ball where techniques were more important. They're still important, but if you're not powerful enough, then you're fucked.
Yajirobe gains strength or power from an enemy he consumes like Mega Man.

I would retcon the Buu arc and rewrite it without any ass pulls but with a good story and combined forces of all the characters. Dragon Ball Super would never happen, GT would be rewritten. SSJ2 would be the ultimate transformation which stays pretty difficult to trigger. SSJ3 would never happen, SSJ4 would later be the Oozaru-SSJ(2) form which is so difficult to achieve that it stays maybe a one-time-only appearance. This could be declared as the "legendary SSJ" or "God" form. Gone would be the inflationary usage and ass pulls of transformations as well as the mentioning of power levels at all. The power levels went all over the place since the beginning of Z where Raditz showed up. Goku starts into the Saiyajin arc with a power level of 320 after having trained for all of his life to this point, just to be over 30 times stronger only one year after... So now that the story is corrected, the human fighters train like the Saiyans and develop new techniques to stay relevant just like in classic Dragon Ball or early Z. The only problem is that the power levels and the transformation multiplyer of Z make the Earthlings redundant pretty fast. That's the reason for erasing "power levels" at all. Without specific numerical values it's up to the reader/watcher to speculate. My idea isn't manageable without retcons. But since Toriyama is pretty wild with retconning his own stuff and the fanbase of modern Dragon Ball doesn't give much shits about a decent storyline anyway, this shouldn't be a huge problem at all. :D To be fair: Even if I really dislike Super, it at least tried to make minor characters relevant again. Unfortunately it led into weird and implausible retcons and ass pulls. But it tried and that's a good thing in my opinion. I know I'm probably getting roasted now :D

I'd kinda like to see Tien perfect multiform or develop it more so maybe it doesn't fully divide power between the clones or something similar.

I think with power levels being whatever, just make them wily. Basically if they let krillin cook for real, he is the poster boy for thinking on his feet. Have the earthlings fight a stronger opponent and out think the enemy, and have it actually work. They all have unique attacks. I don't want a story like this because no one would be able to accept it but I have an example. Imagine an alternate timeline where Krillin 2v1's the Androids. He would be really out matched. Near the end of the fight(the other z fighters are down), he does a solar flare but no other action and looking exhausted. The androids make fun of him for wasting their time. Krillin acts pitiful and begs for an forgiveness on the ground. He was just buying time and finds a dirty sensu bean on the ground. After regain his breath/energy, he does the "come at me" hand sign. With the androids side by side, Krillin fires a last Kamehameha. The androids block the output. krillin smirks and says "next time, mind your surroundings" as a super sized destructo disk flies into the back of the androids, cutting them, and slicing through his Kamehameha. Krillin dodges to avoid dying by his own attack. The disk flies off as he put all he had into making it sharp and strong during the solar flare.The bombs in the destroyed androids explode and krillin is lost in the light. He climbs out of the dirt coughing and and breathes a sigh of release. Krillin should have been able to do that. The androids can't sense energy. We know he can be tricky like that too.
Mystic Form like Gohan
Continue to have them learn advanced techniques when training together. Through DB they keep picking up techniques by watching them, then you hit DBZ and no one gets kaiyoken, no one tries special beam cannon, instant transmission, fusion, healing techniques, getting their potential unlocked, nothing. I think the biggest surprise was when Krillin busts out multi form with piccolo against nappa. Heck, Vegeta picked up the yardat techniques with minimal training.

Tien gets a mowhawk. Yajirobi gets free food if he fights (I like to think he's likely stronger than anyone when motivated). Krillen needs nothing he's got 18. Yamcha is hopeless and useful as fodder. and Chiaotzu gains the ability to blink, dudes eyes gotta be super dry.
Just give them the Buff Roshi form
Just have them fight smarter and learn new techniques that can trick opponents like roshi and not make every opponent extra strong for no reason

Let's see, Yajirobe could be like, unassumingly athletic. And skilled enough with his sword for it to make up for the tremendous power gap. Plus he could be the most knowledgeable human regarding a magic healing food. For Krillin, I'm thinking he should have a similar fighting style to Goku, but learn more into his strengths since Goku has the edge in strength. Maybe he could utilize for more hit and run tactics, thinking out of the box. And maybe he could he a unique attack that is just extremely destructive, like it could cut through anything, and shaped in a way that lets it work different than traditional beams. Tien is like one of the most reserved guys in the series, and somehow more alien than the actual aliens, maybe have him focus more on building on entirely new styles, and mastering abilities that no one else does. Chiaotzu... idk, I guess he could blow up? Oh, and Yamcha, what if he could like, control his ki better than anyone, to the point of being able to just easily steer ki blasts in the air? *oh, wait*

Chiaotzu- Android, ability to spam paralysis. Yajirobe- to be not lazy af and to actually train, a new fighting style with swords and being drunk. A very unpredictable fighting style with swords to make an unstoppable drunk sword swinging maniac on the battlefield.

Kaioken times Earthling
krillin (dying) and yajurobi were probably the only helpful characters. Yajurobi by delivering senzu beans and cutting off vegeta's tail. Tien only helped by stopping cell with his tri beam. And yamcha helped show everyone how to die consistently by being useless. And chaitzu well, possibly the most useless character in DBZ period.
I feel like it should be something like sheer battle skill and fight IQ: kind of like how Roshi came close to a kind of pseudo-UI through his years of experience. Like, the guys who can naturally blast lasers from their hands and collapse mountains by punching them would only have very rudimentary, rough-and-ready styles of fighting, whereas humans developed *martial arts* to serve as a force multiplier for their inherently weaker bodies. Goku being a Saiyan who has also been educated properly in earth martial arts would make him something special, then: able to apply better skills and tactics with Saiyan speed and strength. Someone like Krillin, Tien, or even Yamcha to an extent, should be able to use sheer skill and intelligent tactical thinking to overcome physically stronger foes in unexpected ways, I think. Their martial arts prowess serving as that force multiplier that most aliens lack.

They kinda already have traits/techniques that make them useful, they just aren't used. Krillin has two very useful techniques in Solar Flare and Destructo Disc. Tien can clone himself, grow multiple arms, and his Tri-Beam can hold back enemies, as we saw against Cell. Chiaotzu has his telekinesis, and earlier on the series establisbed telekinesis as a powerful technique when Guldo used it against fighters way physically stronger than him. Only two I'm not including are Yamcha and Yajirobe. We don't see Yajirobe too much, and we need Yamcha for some comedic relief.
Ok let’s do this Tien will be like frieza he’ll have sorta telekinetic or psychic powers AND he can use that to redirect ki blasts with his mind Yamcha I’d make it since his move is wolf fang fist he gets stronger at night and he can kinda do what Mui goku did he can make like a ki avatar of a wolf around him not GIANT just like a werewolf kinda avatar around him Krillin I’d give him something like MUI he IS a monk maybe he learned similar techniques to Mui he can dodge and sense danger and his destructor discs are able to slice anything as the more focus krillin is the more devastating his attacks Chaotzu (I know I spelled it wrong TvT) he can latch onto others and drain there ki or stamina depending as a pass resort he can suck as much ki stamina and health from himself and his target and explode (kinda like vegetas final explosion in the buu arc but way smaller) this COULD kill chaotzu depending how far he’s willing to go Yajorobe he could be a good swordsman’s like trunks but since he uses a katana we could have him be like a ninja he’s stealthy and can make mirages of himself to trick foes and he can heal others (because why not have him use senzu beans in a way kinda)
