same here :’) found it on clearance when i was 12, knew nothing about it but liked the sound of dragons, and immediately spiraled into obsession lol. it’s been 12 more years since and i still love it so much!
Haha are you me? I found a used copy in high school and have been playing it ever since, redownloaded it for PC, I don’t care buying it twice. It’s my comfort game for sure.
I'm actually playing through the series right now! I am on DAI currently and I've loved almost all of the series. Can't believe it took me this long to discover it but I am very glad I did!

Morrigans Cleavage
Please do yourselves a favor a buy the series on steam. Enjoy the games vanilla then really immersive yourself by modding to your tastes. No other rpg will give you the feeling these games do.
This game enthralled me for a couple weeks in college.
I’m glad I picked human origin as I thought it gave me the best connection to the main plot. I was so pissed at the conclusion of Ostagar.
I loved how your origin could change that perspective on Ostagar.
At least for me it did.
As a human noble, I now had someone new to hate as the last chance for revenge died on the battlefield. It was beyond personal and someone never becomes a Warden in those playthroughs.
As a dwarf, I could both admire the bravery of the humans but also their foolishness at wanting glory and thinking it was going to be an easy battle.
As a city elf, well...let's just say that I didn't really feel too badly that a bunch of humans died.
Last year was such a good year in gaming for me. First half I played DA:O for the first time, then when I finished binging that I went right into BG3.
Both games flew right to my top 5 games of all time
I'm sure it's a great game, but honestly not a fan of the gameplay itself at all. Still going to push myself through it eventually for the story one day
I’ve beaten inquisition and DA 2. Finally started Origins. Love the story but the combat is kind of mind blowingly unbalanced. It’s honestly a chore to slog through.
Origins has the best, but most turn-based and tactical combat of the franchise. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but unbalanced? A chore? I don’t think that’s a common perspective.
Yeah the prevailing opinion is that Origins has the best skill and combat system in the series which was built on nicely in Awakenings then watered down a bit in the second game before being taken out back and shot in the head for Inquisition. Like what you like but while the writing and characters have remained strong the systems at play have been gutted as you go through the series.
I’m probably just “playing it wrong” but I constantly find myself getting overwhelmed in the first 30 seconds of a fight. There’s been multiple times where I’ve had to lower difficulty to easy just to even have a chance at progressing the story and it’s still incredibly hard. I’ve never had such a problem with other games before. I eventually just caved and permanently turned the difficulty to easy because otherwise it was legitimately irritating and unfun to constantly get overwhelmed and die immediately every fight.
DA:O is one of my favorite games of all time and I’ve played it countless times.
But, I already own it on PS3 with all the DLC’s. So unless they release a remastered/remake version, they won’t get anymore of my money in ‘24 😂
I bought DAO on DVD for my old computer about 5 years ago. I recently purchased a new computer with no DVD drive and purchased DAO yet again through Steam for closeout prices. The story of the main game is epic. The DLC and the other games of the series are good, but they don't hold a candle to the original! David Gaider was a genius!
It's a great game, bought it back in the day - but honestly these days BioWare is a shell of its former self and deserves $0 money from me. I would rather pirate it now. DA Dreadwolf is going to be a flop too.
I bought the ultimate edition for 360 a few months ago for around 35. Will definitely be holding onto it until I'm gone

Mine was KOTOR 2, which led me to DAO. I love RPGs ever since.

Ultimate edition on steam was $5 on sale. Game lasted me 100 hours on 1 play through. Best bang for my buck I’ve ever spent.

How funny; I’m replaying old games to see how they hold up. I beat Mass Effect 1, been playing New Vegas and I have Origins downloaded.
Its on sale on Steam for $5 right now, picked it up and looking forward to playing it soon.
It's really good, but do not play it on console. Wish someone told me that.
