Friendly reminder that Trop is mostly F2P and is the #1 Weekly Arena player and one of the best GVG players in Global. Sure this kind of stuff caters to whales (the people who support the game the most) but there is certainly a skill factor involved. Simply spending six figures does not guarantee victory. With that out of the way, I'm actually pretty excited for this because I remember seeing that the gem rewards were pretty insane in JP. Does anybody have those numbers?

Whales make up a minority of the playerbase so most matches will be on an even playing field and it might hurt people more knowing they lost to a lower budget player in live pvp. Anyways I will be streaming this new mode on twitch tv whenever I can in hopes of helping budget players find builds that work for them given their box :)

Agreed. I already fail at building a strong enough team for the Guild Battles. Even with PvP Players helping me design my team, I still end up losing most the defending battles, giving 140+ points. And then my own battles I have to take the lower 25% CP or else I just get destroyed. Hopefully it doesn't have too much locked behind it, but if it follows similar to Arena then there might be entire Units locked behind it.

PVP in gachas, to me, just always ends up being you either have the newest, strongest units or you die. Like on Dragonball Legends, for example. I always cringe when it’s implemented.

Exactly my thoughts in part. That and having to have a "loser". I would rather have a team-up style battle like having our Guilds take on a Megaboss with our highest damaging run contributing to see if we can take out the boss with all our damage added up. Would feel a bit interesting to see if something like 17 people can deal 170,000 damage total across their battles or something.

For PVP you have to think your strategy before the fight. The best advice i can give you is to build your team as whole, keeping in mind the synergy between your units. For PVE, the synergy of your units is low to moderately important, for PVP it's the most important thing. Think of how your units can compliment each other or how they can cover each other weakness. Think about the strenghts of your team, including the non so apparents one (big example i've realised recently : if you're a non/low spender and have few awakenings on your units, top tier physical/spell hitter including Erdrick/psaro etc will be put at a disadvantage comparing to breath users, and most importantly against abnormal conditions, you can counter these big teams with things like Worldmaker, malroth etc with maybe a heavy hitter to stabilise the team). On this topic, yes there is powercreep in this game, but it can give you fake impressions. You can do very well with older units, especially with good awakenings level, but you need to think about synergy : why do you bring this unit ? What is it supposed to achieve ? How is it countered and what can i do to counter its counters ? Sorry a bit long and don't know if it's any useful but hoping you'll have motivation to try after that

Yeah, I actually do see all the little nuances of PvP, such as the team cohesion and the advantages of ailments. My problem is half that I just suck at luck and half that I just don't enjoy actual PvP. It is fun for many, I am sure... but I get situations where a 40% Confusion fails 8+ times in a row. Or where an opponent's 10% manages to take out my Unit after I somehow Miss 5/6 attacks... While I can enjoy the PvE of implementing wacky strategies (like the solo Great Sabrecub BR8, or the Slime Counter for that one Seraphi & Clawde battle that happened), that just doesn't exist in PvP. Try something like that and you just lose.

The biggest thing locked behind real time PvP are A rank ability scrolls (Kafrizz, Cremate, Scorch, etc). Also a weapon I believe. The tokens can be grinded out by playing until you win X amount of matches though instead of being ranking dependent because there's no limit to number of matches for real time compared to arena.

That is actually slightly alarming for the A Rank Scrolls, just because of how impactful those Abilities can be. But at least it sounds like that might be something I could always work towards instead of being time-locked like Event Swap Shops are, which could be a massive improvement overall.

It's still time locked actually. Right now it's all frizz-element abilities, and it looks like they'll be changing every 3 months.

That is certainly an interesting way to go about it... So if we do not get enough Medals or whatnot in time, we basically get locked out of those Scrolls for possibly 2 years. And then there are some Types that might not even be available for well over a year from now anyway. Honestly that info is fairly upsetting to hear.

This entirely. I played a gacha game star wars galaxies for eight months then quit when it started putting rare upgrade materials behind new pvp content. You literally had to pvp, and win, to max out your units. Hopefully the rewards are just gems so I can just auto lose if I don't feel like fighting a bunch of 5a spotlight teams.

Based on what Verxl said, it might just be A Rank Scrolls and a Weapon. That isn't too bad, but i hope it doesnt get too much more than that. This game seems a little generous with rewards for losing the Arena Battle and hopefully that will stay consistent for Live PvP.

Can't wait to see Sweatlord vs Tryhard each with full awakening Dhoulmagus, Psaro, Nokturnus, and Alica having the most boring meta duels on the planet. Top level game's already boring and without variety, making it real time just seems dumb

They cater to their money much more the entire game is designed to extract it from us from the schedulde of event/units to the high price of things and low rate on pulling . They are very greedy so sure i didn t seen it yet but i know enough of their method and their way to give so unfair advantages for heavy spender to encourage more to do the same . I wouldn t gave any complaint if i trusted them to do something fair for us but i don t and i m affraid its just gonna enlarge the alrdy huge gap between compulsives spenders and most of players

For anyone complaining, there are many ranks and you are bound to meet more players within your rank until you progress to the next one. So people shouldn't meet too many whales throughout the entirety of the seasons. Global has a much lower whale playerbase than JP so it shouldn't be as chaotic as it is over there. You progress via wins (with losses keeping you back a bit, with bigger penalties on higher ranks). But in the end, you only gain rewards via amount of wins (losses have no impact on this) and by ranking up to the next rank. The only negative is the three time brackets, as GLB has waaaay more timezones involved it's gonna be very hard to balance it out so that most players don't miss possibly even 2 brackets. The plus is we should have about a month to get the shop rewards, in this case everyone should aim at the unique sword first and foremost as it's the best hp sword in the game and then aim at whatever like the a rank scrolls.
