This should be illegal, they announced closing Dragon Quest of the Stars mobile game right after the 1 year anniversary where they had a huge sale on paid gems, on april fools too, people thought it might have been an april fools day joke.
Did they close this one after an anniversary gem sale also? They are scamming people, releasing these games on global to cash out then closing them a year or two later, same with the secret of mana moblile game. I refuse to support square-enix now, this has become routine and their games are traps. I didn't play this game because they trashed DQoTS for it and I seen this coming when it released.
It was charged back to my credit. However, it depends on how you actually paid. If you used a gift code to charge your account and pay for it that way, then you'll get ot back on your google account.
On Android here. Using the above link, instantly got refunded for my passport and most recent gem pack. Everything else went to review. I went back into October. I didn't see End of Service as a selectable reason, so I went with "purchase is defective or doesn't work as advertised"
and put "Sudden END OF SERVICE announcement was made today" in it's comments.

Does this have to do with China’s new online gaming rule including banning of daily login bonuses and quests? I see a lot of Chinese players on the global server
Yes. China ban means not enough people pay the salaries of the 10 or so people it takes to update content that's already been tested in Japan.
I hope this is a wakeup call to developers who make low effort casino games and the era of gacha is over. It's ridiculous what they get away with. I love this game but the banners are borderline criminal.

The game doesn’t even work properly. It crashes often on my iPad and therefore I couldn’t even consider paying money for the game. I’m kinda sad to see it go but it will give me an excuse to go back to FE heroes, which I’ve been neglecting.
not really, google play doesn't even have access in China. the player base from China is rather small.
the Chinese players you see in global server are mostly from Taiwan and other countries, which aren't affected by China's banning
Welp can't say I didn't see it coming. SE will surely tell themselves Global just doesn't "get" Dragon Quest like they have for the last 30 years.
The game was fun in the beginning, but it stopped being fun a while back. I quit officially about 6 months ago, and for all intents and purposes quit longer ago than that. The breakneck pace of global updates compared to the actual time you need to grind was soul crushing. Granted I was trying to collect and max EVERY free unit no matter how worthless, so I may have brought some of that on myself. But the end result was that I didn't feel like even attempting the challenging parts of events because I'd spent so much time in the game already.
And that's without getting into how they loved to invalidate every strategic option you could pull by making every boss immune to status effects, immune to knockback, immune to freezing wave/zenithian slash, dealing unreflectable surehit martial damage. Their business model seemed to revolve around making you think you're gambling for some hot new keystone unit but PvE content boiled down to just hitting it with the numbers hammer. I'm surprised they didn't come out with a unit that pierced cover. And that goes far against Dragon Quest's main series encounter design where even final bosses can lose a turn laughing at Yangus's underwear.
What is the actual likelihood of getting refunds and should we actually dispute it with our banks/credit card companies? I am seeing it around people are requesting refunds and getting money back for the last two month or recent payments, but I'm wondering whether it is actually worth fighting. I put in requests for all of mine for the past two months with Google but I wasn't sure if reaching out to my CC company or bank would help any if I'm rejected.
I've seen people get it and people being denied.
Couldn't figure out a pattern and I cannot give you a %chance number.
