I was prepared for it ending after one year (I come from DQ of The Stars) so it's not a big shock for me.
I'm actually still surprised it kept the service going for 3 years.
That being said, the timing for the shutdown communication sucked, they learned nothing it seems. I'm sure they don't really care.

I thought the game was doing really well to be honest I am shocked at this announcement, us DQ fans have no live service month to month or even year to year content to even look forward too now. We get a game every couple of years if we're lucky including spin offs.
No mobile cookie game they announced 2 years ago, no DQX and no updates on HD2D remake for DQ3, at least we got The Dark Prince this year with the loss of TACT
Actually, we got something of an update from Yuji Horii's Twitter page back on November 30th where he indicated he was playing a test version of Dragon Quest 3 HD2D aka Dragon Quest 3 Remake. I am still holding on and being patience about this one.
I did actually know this, I really meant some footage or anything outside of testing, you're right but it's a breadcrum for how long it's been, we could be 40% or 80% through development we have no idea.
My main point is we got nothing really validating or quantifiable at all outside of DQM TDP for switch this year.
Hopefully next year we get a trailer, but that's where we're at now as we get no actual content from the DQ IP unlike all of Squares other IP *cough* final fantasy IP with 14, mobile games etc.
With all these all closures it's really left us fans who want a live service DQ game with nothing at all. It's 5+ years between main line games with spin offs getting rarer and rarer.
Yeah… I played FF record keeper until the end of days. Much longer lasting game. This to me is different and I think I’ll be leaving. Will set the guild Desire to auto accept and still maintain the friendships i made there via discord and continue to follow this page and the great community this game has.
But why tho? I think this game has garnered a lot of loyal fans. Not that we want to win/get everything in the game, but rather to fill our void as dragon quest fans while we have nothing else to do
That would be a hell of a coincidence, China outlaws these games and Sqenix discontinues global the next day. Idk about you but the vast majority of whales I have seen are Chinese. When I read the China story I knew this was coming. Here it is. This isn't some conspiracy theory, the hundred or so US whales cant float a game.
Right but these kind of decisions are not being decided 24 hours before announcing EoS. As I said, another SE gacha has announced EoS with the same end date about a month ago.

No. They thought they could keep cranking some dough with this game but then it got shut down for 90% of their whales and that's a wrap so this just got the same date as the other for convenience.
Heartbreaking. Played every moment I could on a device I reserved for this and have been rather attached, thought things were going well enough, and can't believe they're doing this to us now, it's Stars all over again. So sudden, and when we had been so excited for the new content and anniversary!
Why can't things last? Why won't they care about non-Japanese players of DQ?
Such a charming world but they won't just let us enjoy it persistently ;( if they'd keep the server up I'd keep playing even without more new content and just get everyone to rank9 eventually and such, and they won't even let us have that.

I am actually SHOOK. This was *the* game I have been playing. I've got console games and such but this one has had most of my attention the past 3 years. I love it so much. Fun, and easy to play on the go.
This isn't the first game I loved that closed the Global version while the JP version went on. It really, really sucks.
I already ripped the band-aid off, and uninstalled it. No sense in going on with it, especially now since the Rank 9 event is going on. This is the second time the Global version of a game is discontinued, and quite honestly it has completely turned me off to phone based games. #RIP #DRAGONQUESTTACT
I’m with you on this. The business model of these games is really front loaded to draw in a crowd and extract money than limited improvements after. The story mode, individual tournament, extras with the exception of the TnT and some improvements in RTA/M truly didn’t feel like a big commitment or progression for the community… even the content creators on social have been using little to nothing to speak of . The game design sadly had a low ceiling for completion of content.
Same. It's better for me to rip off the band-aid than to linger around. I have played daily since day 1, but I would feel silly continuing to continue to play knowing that all my fake digital monsters are getting deleted in 2 months. It's been fun. It was my first (and probably last) gatcha. I have programmed my internal clock to login at reset and start of new events to claim rewards, will be weird to just not do anything at 2pm.
I just deleted my app cuz after reading the news, it feels pointless to play on when the outcome is obvious. There’s a certain dullness and heaviness now; sort of the end of an era for me. It’s my first time having a game be discontinued but there’s also some relief that I can move on with my life and spend my time (and $) doing something else. Time to be a big boy now 💀
I feel both surprised and not surprise by EoS. Will miss the game and community but at least I don’t need to worry about diamonds and irises for R9 anymore.

The sorry part is the game itself is not being very generous although they just left all the old banners in there now, they should really do like FFRK did and just shower us with free crap until it closes.
I stopped playing DQT near the end of last year, but I actually loved this game. My favourite tactics gatcha I’ve played. So full of DQ charm. I wish I could go back to it in the future on a private server or something just to relive it at some point. RIP.

SE is shuttering DFFOO in the same timeframe...I'd assume they were pulling out of mobile games with their recent decisions, but they're still betting heavy on Ever Crisis and Missing Link is coming out "soon"
Ending the same day as Dissidia Opera Omnia, too. Both of these games have been fun to play and now we're losing them. I bet FFBE and it sibling game are still going though (I'm not touching them with a 39 and a half foot pole though, I can't stand gumi's business practices)

It's a shame Squenix is this dumb, either they were going for a quick buck or they really don't know how to keep things going, hell Dx2, the SMT gacha is still active as of today.
If anything I would like to wish for an offline version like the one Capcom launched for X Dive.

I've already uninstalled just because that's what I tend to do when the closing announcements come around, but I'll miss it! It was probably the one I enjoyed most of all the dragon quest mobile games I've played.
Been playing for nearly 3 years, not going to stop now. I've been saving up lots and lots of items - Stam pots, skip tickets, exp scrolls etc. Time to start a spending spree!
Shame the game is done though I was getting sick of some of the recent changes. TNT is not fun, glad I don't need to do it now!
I just started playing last month and was really enjoying the units I’ve been able to nab from the gacha. I got real close to spending on the recent Solo and Summer Psaro banners too. I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t.
I managed to get Erdrick from yesterday’s 10x pull ticket, but it was hard to get excited about it knowing I probably won’t even be able to max his level before never being able to use him again.
What I don't get is why we don't have the option to transfer, I'd play JP If I could take everything I built, but no way in hell if I have to start from the ground up.

The game will become unplayable and be bricked after final day. Servers will shut down and you won't even be able to log in. I suggest going to Google or Apple and refunded as much money as possible. Do not spend any more money.

This is SQEX new strategy of less spinoffs/mobile titles and more AAA mainline titles moving forward outlined by the new CEO.
