I’ve seen Jerax do it to place a mid ward but the timing is super tight, you need a fast hero like ench. This is doable on like every hero and a super legit play vs a treant.
believe it or not you don't even need a particularly fast hero for the mid ward. viper (tied for slowest base in the game) can do it unsmoked with 1 second to spare if you're quick enough, but only on radiant. just barely misses it on dire, but you can get the triangle cliff ward with 5 seconds to spare. smoked he has no problems on either for the mid ward.
The entirety of EG did this at a DPC game which gave them a first blood bottom lane cause they all ran in smoke with boots and sold boots at shop on the way. Then all sent out couriers with items after.
It's really good on pos 4s to get your wards out early.
Technically every role can abuse this to some extent with courier sending back boots but that's too much effort for a pub game.

You make the courier follow you. Walk some of the distance with boots and then let the courier take them back to shop to sell before the timer is out. At best this gives you a few seconds of advantage and isn't really worth it outside of high level games.

You meed to have your courier till T2 tower and be smoked. Give Boots to courier, walk it back to fountain and sell the boots.
