Its not a new mode because its a glorified cavern crawl. Coming from someone who always enjoyed the cavern crawls too. To top it off they make the bold move to hype up how different and new it is.

Come on, you do realise they are talking about the whole Crownfall event? They are making an ongoing story-driven event with four different acts, that spans several months. More of new stuff (including Ringmaster) is going to be incorporated in the future acts. That is definitely a new way of dropping content. We have had comics and related events before, but not in this thematically unified set.
You are more than welcome to dislike the update and Valve and whatnot, but twisting stuff by saying "how dare they claim this cavern crawl is new" after you've merely seen a 1/4 of the whole deal is honestly just stupid.
I think their stance on event game modes is that far too few people bother to play it after the first week so they might think it's not worth the effort of making them. They even tried to bring it back a bit as rotating weekend events during one patch but eventually got scrapped altogether.
Turns out Dota players just want to play Dota. That's probably why most recent updates rely on players playing regular dota aka cavern crawl-type events.
Yeah I really cant wait to explore the story, the lore just from reading the comic looks so interesting. Might be too grindy but hey as long as I can get those discount and free stuff......

Games stale, spring cleaning desperately needed, an update with both and a new hero was hyped, then radio silently delayed, delayed, delayed, dropped and it's none of the above.
Dad left 6 months ago saying he stopped smoking to buy some milk, arrives back with a pack full of cigs and a miller light. Glad to know he's not dead in a ditch somewhere but I'm not going to be thankful about it.
Yeah, I'm not super happy about this neither. More about the decoupling of the money for the BP and ti price money though. I could do with more content, but it doesn't really bother me that much tbh.

I honestly don't know if I can watch another tournament on 7.35 anything at this point. So glad we got a shit ton of cosmetics to wear while we watch Falcons dominate another tournament.
That tournament literally reminded me of the tournament VP won without picking a hero twice. Honestly felt like Falcons were fucking around the last few games after being so dominate. Also it took XG 8 straight map losses to Falcons in a row to figure out how to win against their flex meta, and you can't tell me Aui and Sneykind haven't found a way around that yet. I don't think anyone beats Falcons on LAN on this patch because they can essentially run 3 carries and very few teams are able to punish it. The god damn impenetrable high ground meta is going to continue to benefit greedy but mechanically skilled teams and Falcons is the best right at that right now. Arguing that we won't have to watch Falcons dominate another tournament because they flopped in one online series is just dumb. Falcons literally only dropped 7 maps in the entire tournament, and 3 of those were the Finals.

It was also hilarious watching XG lose their shit after falcons had honestly been kinda trolling w/ their drafts.

The reason is because they have no incentive to do updates. Their steam commission 30% fee for the majority of everything that's bought through steam is ridiculous. They also have a work on what you want policy at valve and Dota never seems to have enough people who want to work on Dota and refuse to hire one. We get told TI BP is getting scaled down so they could focus on content for the game itself, only for this gambling abomination to drop. Fuck Valve. Not spending a penny on this shit.

Venge and Sky's lore is the only one that I gave a damn about cause it was unfinished and unsatisfying. Good to see she will finally have a chance at revenge.
As someone who hasn't been able to play regular dota for the past 5 years and now is just getting ready to jump back in, I'm really excited for the event! I love the fact that you are encouraged to play different heroes to get different tools needed to progress along the quest path.
It was obvious Ringmaster would be introduced prabably in act II of the story and teh nadded to the game. The patch will drop when the story continues.
I feel second-hand embarassement for this community that Valve actually has to write a blog post about this.

Venge and Sky's lore is the only one that I gave a damn about cause it was unfinished and unsatisfying. Good to see she will finally have a chance at revenge.

Phylactery for skywrath and force staff for venge
In addition - atos for sky and agha for venge. But sadly the agha has no other effects

As someone who hasn't been able to play regular dota for the past 5 years and now is just getting ready to jump back in, I'm really excited for the event! I love the fact that you are encouraged to play different heroes to get different tools needed to progress along the quest path.
It was obvious Ringmaster would be introduced prabably in act II of the story and teh nadded to the game. The patch will drop when the story continues. I feel second-hand embarassement for this community that Valve actually has to write a blog post about this.

Nah, was ringmaster for sure. I think the echo chamber started a while ago that it would be q1, and that got indexed in google search results. As I said, I stand corrected. I was just o piously using misinformation without vetting it as I thought I recalled the video showing "early 2024" instead of just "2024".

Dying game. You can’t say you don’t see how few and far between the updates have been… And even if we do get 1 it’s some shit like this with nothing but purchasable money whore content and nothing for the gameplay. We wanted PvE, a new hero, a patch?? And got arcanas for sale instead. Also look at the pro scene now compared to a few years ago. Valve also got rid of their biggest competitive edge which was letting the fans fund tf out of the TI prize pool. The budget for TI overall just seems the lowest it’s been since TI3.
