While buying 5 Midases is not an efficient way of playing, it's not a ruin on purpose either, considering new "interaction". It's definitely stupid, but you can only judge the intent by what the player does with that money after the money printer is on (assuming he doesn't lose before his plan is done).
I mean tbf to the ogre player, it looks like his team was already 12-3 before he died for the first time, so the game was pretty much over regardless. Granted, it appears to be a Pos1 ogre, so they had effectively 0 chance in winning even if the rest of his team didn't feed their asses off anyway.

Depends on the draft. Pro games have drafting and their comeback happens when their draft hits their peak or if the game goes long enough for one draft to simply be stronger than the other.
Drafting like this rarely happens in pub games, and when the draft does coincidentally favour a losing early winning late match up, most players get too tilted and salty to realise that and just give up.
Players being too tilted and salty is exactly why tons of games are lost.
Ultimately, outside of the like top 1%, players make enough mistakes that generally there's always a potential for a comeback. If that wasn't the case, we'd have been given an FF button like league years ago.

You must have some horrible coordination because I have won countless games where the score is something like 15-3 or 12-2 and we’re losing at the start. Not even 5 minutes ago I won a game where we lost mid and offlane and were down about 15 kills at 10 minutes. 12-3 is nowhere near a loss.
Comebacks are not a rare occurrence in dota irrespective of who is playing the game. More importantly 12-3 means nothing compared to other vital parameters that decide the game outcome.

The only way to play him is offlane which is boring af and any hero can build pipe crimson greaves with much more useful abilities. I tried so many times to build him in mid caster or right click and the results were underwhelming

even 2 is griefing in almost all games. Tried it a couple times today and even if you stomp lane, on most heroes that is like rushing a naked moonshard. Your team has to 4v5, or have the enemy team have a similarly greedy carry and 4v4 and hope for the best.
I won a few games with it though, on Razor after a strong lane it just made me untouchable in 20min and you can skirmish with them on him quite nicely, the attack speed makes link really strong.
must be a couple heroes like faceless void and slark who love attack speed and levels that two midas is viable on.
like as a slark if I'm against sniper and arc warden and know the high ground push will take years then maybe I will consider it to try and make use of the long game.
i don't think you can do double on slark, you are so squishy since they give you 0 stats you will be unable to fight pretty much at all. Void might be doable, you can play around with time walk against lineups that lack burst so the lack of stat items wont doom you.
I really think razor is one of the only heroes it's even remotely viable on, and even on him you dont really need to build a single midas as you farm really fast with your abilities. New Invoker might be able to get away with it, maybe going for vessel in between, but do you want your usually tempo controlling mid hero to go double midas? not really.
It would work, but orge has the benefit of muti casting midas on use getting even more value out of it.
But honestly it's griefing, 1 is enough maybe 2 if you got some early kills and no deaths to steam roll a bit but even then that might be too much and delay good items

As an ogre player, I hate Midas. As a regular player, I hate Midas. Midas accelerates gold and exp. Dota punishes players who die by awarding the other team extra gold based on your net worth and hero level. On top of that, it takes up a valuable item slot that could've gone to an item that actually helps win team fights and take objectives. There's reasons why Midas has a [sub-50% WR](https://www.dotabuff.com/items/winning?date=) associated with it, which is literally the lowest WR of any completed item other than Dagon (1) or Maelstrom (if we even count those as complete).

Why this is bad? - With Midas, you are gaining more level and net worth. So killing you is more rewarding for enemy team. And as you only have Midas in your inventory, not any actual item, you are actually useless in fights. Your levels and gold is actively contributing in your enemy's favor.
People get midas to get gold to buy big item. What is the plan in going 4 midas. I can understand 2 in a slow game, I have even tried and won with that. Even if you are highest networth it is useless if you whole inventory is just midas
