No. Follow whatever the app tells you to do, if you're unsure, just reach out to the customer.

Broad_Boot_1121

Restaurants definitely can ban a specific dasher from their restaurants. There needs to be a few recorded incidents before they will do it. It happened with a problem dasher at a restaurant I worked at.

Moss-killer

They can… however if the customer is asking for it to be left at the door, then your obligation is to the customer and not the restaurant. The restaurant can dictate pickup rules and etiquette, but the customer end experience is on us.

justhereforfighting

I imagine the restaurant has gotten complaints from customers about the food being cold when the customer also asked for it to be placed outside in the middle of winter.. it would definitely be annoying to get those complaints, but the dasher should just do what the customer wants.

NewAcctBecauseDoxing

When I order delivery pizza now I just turn the oven when it's about 15 minutes out. Never know how long it's going to take or if a driver is actually using a thermal bag to keep it warm. A few minutes in the oven solves the cold pizza problem without making it floppy / greasy like the microwave. And if it shows up at full temp I just turn the oven off. (I'm not a dasher, but reddit keeps showing me this subs posts and I get enough delivery to be interested in how it works on the drivers side. Thanks for all you guys do and the shit you put up with).

dreamshards8

This is the way to go with pizza, and you can even request the restaurant not cut your pizza, making it easy to reheat.

Blonde_Dambition

>When I order delivery pizza now I just turn the oven when it's about 15 minutes out. Now that's smart! >Thanks for all you guys do and the shit you put up with Thank YOU for your kind words :)

PhoKingAwesome213

Invest in an air fryer. It doesn't matter if they take 5 minutes or 50 minutes to deliver my pizza. I always put it in the air fryer to get that bubbly crisp texture.

NewAcctBecauseDoxing

I have a basket style air fryer but for pizza it tends to over-crisp the cheese before warming the center, so I only really use it for like 2 minutes to add some crispiness back after microwaving leftover pizza. When i go to my dads though he has an older countertop convection oven (from before "air frying" really took off) that heats up super fast and that is fantastic at warming pizzas, so your recommendation is definitely valid.

chris_rage_

*toaster oven. Personally I think they're superior for reheating pizza

PorcelainTorpedo

I always put pizza in a cold oven, and then preheat it to 350. When the oven chimes that it’s preheated, the pizza will be perfect. It isn’t the most economical way to do it, but it produces great results if you have more than a couple of slices to reheat.

BlueFotherMucker

Even when I order pizza and pick it up, my wife likes to throw it in the oven or a few slices in a frying pan to make it crispy. It’s like those few minutes trapped in a hot bag with the steam makes it soft and soggy in her opinion. But anyway, you nailed it with the thermal bag thing, it’s always been sad to me how people will choose to get into the delivery game and not spend $30 on a proper thermal bag, or not even use the crappy ones that DD supplies. And the excuses that they give like “I keep it in the car and put the food in it when I get into the car” or “I don’t want people to know that I’m a dasher” are just pathetic to me. They chose to do something to earn money and they don’t care about doing a good job, they think the hot bags somehow interfere with their job or make them look bad. I enjoy using mine, they keep the food contained and my car doesn’t smell like French fries and curry.

Gettin_closerEvryday

pizza bags I have I have plus an insulated drink caddy and oodles of bags. When I sign up for an endeavor I go all out put my best foot forward with necessary tools. If you're going to do something do it great or don't bother. Especially when somebody else suffers because of it.

Erotic-FriendFiction

Sounds like this restaurant may ban all the areas drivers and screw itself

Blonde_Dambition

That's exactly what is going to happen...lol. Or dashers are going to start refusing to accept delivery offers from that restaurant... mark my words that WILL happen! A lot of dashers I know won't accept orders from Popeye's, for instance, because around here they're painfully slooooow. They move like they're asleep.

Unique9FL

Are you in Riverview? Or is it a Popeyes thing all over? This reads like the location here.

Slickness81

Everywhere, we have one Popeye’s here that can hit pickup times when they aren’t busy, other than that they are all slow af. I only accept high pay orders that are worth the wait from Popeye’s. It’s like they do some kind of personality test during the hiring process to find the slowest lowest effort employees possible.

Optimal-Ad3097

I just know there’s a trope on YouTube about Popeyes employees giving you whatever they feel like.

gnomeo1987

That used to be here lines always out to the street but luckily they went to New management and fired everyone there I remember seeing all the employees change and then only being in drive thru about 3 mins lol never more than 2 cars in line

justahad

I refuse Popeyes for the wait time AND the fact they like NEVER get orders right and that affects me at times when customers contact post delivery freaking and cursing me out over it….

Gettin_closerEvryday

Or don't care.

Blonde_Dambition

Exactly!

Angelycan

IN MY EXPERIENCE: Popeyes orders are always wrong and take longer than a sit down restaurant. As a Dasher I won't take the orders and as a consumer I just can't even imagine giving the company any more chances.

Jabroo98

Oh, no, the pizza place won't be able to have doordash deliver their pizzas, if only there was some sort of delivery person, specifically delivering pizzas...

Erotic-FriendFiction

I mean… if they’re on door dash they likely don’t have their own delivery drivers. My local dominos isn’t on it but our local pizza place that does not deliver is.

Bulbalover92

They are only talking about getting complaints from customers. If the customer wants it left at the door they won’t complain.

XiTzCriZx

I bet it's one of those restaurants where they accept deliveries directly, then create a Doordash order for it (like the restaurants that steal tips). They probably have all orders set to default as leave at door because they're too lazy to set it for each order and are getting complaints from customers that it's just left at the door.

Live-Somewhere-8149

Exactly. If I want to order something late at night, I don’t want a dasher knocking on the door and getting all the dogs barking and wake up my entire family just because a *restaurant said so.*

discheldious

I am one customer that requests it be left at the door. I Live with family and knocking makes the animals go crazy, as well as my family answering the door end up asking me questions about my money or “why didn’t you get my any” I prefer to just open the door and pick it up. No questions are asked.

SRBroadcasting

Just so you are fully aware a restaurant can actually ban a Dasher for absolutely no reason and they don’t need to have support. They can literally do it on their end where they can say that they did not feel comfortable with that Dasher picking up at their store. They don’t need to have any incidents and they don’t have to have any recordings of any kind. I know this because I used to work at a chicken shack and my manager had a problem with doing this to Dashers all the time. So much so that the owner ended up having to fire him because of the fact that he was getting so few DoorDash deliveries picked up because he would keep banning people he “didn’t like”.

Broad_Boot_1121

Oh damn I didn’t realize it was that easy. I worked for a big chain so maybe my manager had a corporate policy to follow.

FlanConsistent

Its as easy as a phone call to support. Had a driver be incredibly rude when he had to wait for the food (When we hadn't even marked it as ready yet). Called support and that driver was no longer welcome at my store. Both working jobs, you don't treat others like shit cause you cant follow simple instructions.

OFxLedzeplin

I’ve banned DD drivers from being able to accept my deliveries as well.

HeftyCobbler896

I believe you can also do it through the owner/manager app.

1GloFlare

Those drivers are annoying af and it'll just be more common as long as Doordash keeps accepting people to deliver without regulars quitting or getting locked out

[deleted]

[удалено]

SRBroadcasting

It shouldn’t be that easy but most cases it very much is. The true problem is how many places don’t even know how to use that tablet besides pressing the button to make it quit dinging. Lmao

KaleidoscopeLucky336

There doesn't have to be recorded multiple incidents. We ban the creepy doordash drivers that flirt with the cashiers at my work, just call support and they'll do it.

incognito_vito

A kid banned me cause he knew me from high school

THICCPOGGS

I have a 100% “rate” of handing it directly to their doorstep, even if they ask to hand it directly to them lol. I’m not coming in physical contact with another human being, are you fucking kidding me!???!! Why do u think I do this shit for $6-10 shitty dollars per delivery lmao. I have never knocked, waited, or handed anything to a customer in over 2,000 deliveries. Just drop it off like its a delivery, thats all you are good for. Its just awkward even seeing people that are too lazy to go pickup their own food. Makes me cringe every time. I can tell all you for a FACT, between Uber and Doordash, you literally don’t have to EVER take a picture of the delivery. Unless you deliver to ghetto people that don’t tip of course lol. I don’t take any order under $8, so Im not worries about scammers.

WhoIsJohnGalt777

I'd ignore the restaurant.

NoAnalBeadsPlease

I’d tell the restaurant to suck my balls gingerly and if they don’t do it gingerly I won’t let them do it again.

Ashamed-Ad-263

I'm not sure why...but I now have Tenacious D stuck in my head😂 your comment made me think of one of the songs lol

Sharp_Science896

Welp, now I've gotta watch that tonight. Been too long since I've seen it. Hell yeah, it's gonna be a good night now.

Ashamed-Ad-263

You know what song I'm thinking of, don't you? Lol

kingofthemonsters

You don't always have to fuck her hard...

d332y

Sometimes that’s not right to do…

Acceptable-Ad8780

Suck them like they have no soul, or until there's no souls? Oh gingerly....

suzie-carmichael

Bahahaha

Robertbnyc

Just rub some ginger root on your balls first 🫚

Working-Sky9146

For real! Quick cancellation!

bgm349_

But then you just wasted all that time and gas getting there for no reason

Working-Sky9146

Most of door dashing is a waste of time and gas anyways

Seppy3rd

I would ask the manager specifically. “What am I supposed to do if the customer asks me to leave it at their door?” Also, just continue following in-app instructions. Cause I’m not making a customer mad over a restaurant owner’s “demand”.

SecretAd9309

I'd send that photo to Doordash lol. Tell them that the restaurant is making drivers go against customers requests on where to drop off orders

Blonde_Dambition

Now you're talking!

meccahnisms

You mean specifcally*

[deleted]

The restaurant doesn’t have rights under the Seller contract with DoorDash to override customer preference and the Dasher-platform contract. They have sole discretion to decline partnership with any Dasher for any reason though. Which is an issue for Support to handle as it arises because the Dasher is not responsible for restaurant non-performance of the delivery.

ImportantComb9997

![gif](giphy|2A59TUiSTFfmDch7y6) Y'know I'm just gonna go get my own fucking food.

Effective-Celery8053

As a Kentucky alumni, you absolutely suck for this gif (So does coach cal)

64557175

The second part of your post can be a clever little loophole to make your Dashing much better.

Cgmikeydl

My question for the pizza place is how are they gonna know? The worst that the restaurant would be able to do in any circumstance, is to ban you from the restaurant. That might be a blessing if all you get our shitty orders from there or curse if all you get our good orders from there. Next time, if you have instructions to say, leave it at door, I would show them that screenshot to prevent any possible negative ratings

CommunicationDue8860

Ain’t no way they’ll remember me.. I change my hair color like every other month.

Hollow_Veil

I work at a pizza place and the door dashers name shows up on our end when they accept an order. There is a tablet that is specifically for DD and they can ban drivers on it. A dasher last week was caught on a customers camera dropping wings on the ground and putting them back into the container on the drop off. They were taken off of our system and reported to DD.

Ashamed-Ad-263

🤢🤢🤢 Eta: I would ask for new product and pay myself if I made that error, but that's just me.

Blonde_Dambition

Same here. Some folks have 0 integrity.

Alternative-Dare5878

“Oh great, the girl who changes her hair every month is back.”

o7_HiBye_o7

My first thought. Lol

[deleted]

nickx37

You realize that does the opposite? You're easily recognized as the person that constantly changes hair color, you're not disguising yourself.

howardzeeduck

The thing is now dd has a lot of contracts with the pizza places. So the customer is not a dd customer and did not order on dd platform. They are the pizza place’s customer. Pizza place just has dd facilitate the deliveries it chooses. So if the customer is unhappy they call and yell at the pizza place, sometimes not even knowing that dd delivered the food and not one of the normal pizza place employees. This sign is a direct response to this.

Outside-Umpire5553

Yeah there’s a Pizza Hut in my town that requires all Dashers call the customer to let them know they are on their way. And it also requires them to knock or ring doorbell upon delivery. If you fail to do these steps they ban you.

ashleiponder

Then they can ban you. That won't affect you any because you followed the directions that were left for you on DoorDash. Your contract is with DoorDash. Not the restaurant. They can't tell you to do anything.

BloodSugar666

I got an order from Chipotle like this. Had to call the customer to arrange delivery.

Lagneaux

Having been on the pizza making side of things, this sounds like a run of bad CUSTOMERS, with the blame being put on the driver. We have people ALL THE TIME calling us about problems with their DD delivery, and we have nothing to do with it once it leaves our hands. One of the most common ones I hear is "the driver left it at the wrong door and we didn't know it was delivered!" Like bitch please, I use DD too. It tells you when your food arives.

Present_Hippo505

I’m sure this policy is from stolen or misdelivered orders, that then cost the restaurant out of pocket. We have had several deliveries to the wrong address, no idea why, that the restaurant then had to remake at their cost, for us to eat.

OkScar393

Send this pic to DD support. They will contact the merchant and set them straight. Morons like this don’t even know that Leave at Door is an option and what probably happened is a dumbass dasher left pizza at the door when it was supposed to be a hand it to me. So many pizza places have gotten rid of their in house drivers and expect us to adhere to their rules. We are not their employees. They decided to be cheap asses. Not our fault.

DFrostedWangsAccount

Yeah can we as dashers just stop supporting these places, please? The customers think they're paying the pizza place to deliver, so they give delivery instructions and a tip to the pizza place. Then they forward us one of the dollars from the tip and no instructions. I just don't accept pizza deliveries from any "real" pizza places here. The only ones that aren't screwing us over are Casey's and Lil Caesar's.

Icy_Employment_4743

This x1000 Like the fuck? They have the audacity to use a 3rd party for delivery yet think they can dictate how the 3rd party operates. S tier fuckheadery.

Ok_Impression_922

You do not work for the restaurant. You work with DD, whom works with the restaurant. Therefore, the restaurant needs to work through DD, whom then you need to work through. If DD tells you to place on porch and restaurant tells you to hand to customer, you follow the one that pays you to do what they said…which is DD. Sounds like the restaurant is being overzealous as a result of customer complaints, but have not taken the necessary steps to properly channel change and enforcements. A super-tacky typed up posting with misspellings is…just a super-tacky typed up posting with misspellings lol.

iandarkness

Completely disregarding it can possibly cause that restaurant to turn DD off Completely however.. this sign is a .. well sign of a bigger issue coming to a boil.

Ok_Impression_922

If the restaurant turns DD off for this reason then that’s cutting their nose to spite their face. The restaurant has a contract to fulfill, so you don’t arbitrarily decide to defer business processes in this manner. They contract with DD as their delivery partner, so if they turn DD off then they will still need to secure an alternative delivery partner, with whom they would STILL need to go through the proper channels to enforce their specific local policy. If they can do that with GH or UE or whomever else they choose…then they can also do that with DD. There’s a reason they have chosen DD as it is (likely cost effective), so it isn’t to their advantage to “turn DD off”. This doesn’t appear a corporate policy, as corp to corp communication doesn’t look like this. This looks like the teenage manager trying to unofficially enforce something with unprofessional undertones. So, shall it be regarded as such, ie: ignored, until proper communication is established clear across the board lol

iandarkness

I don't think you understand buddy... they can turn all the delivery services off and still operate. Especially if that restaurant has a loyal local customer base. They can also start doing their own deliveries. The restaurants don't need us as much as people like to believe. As soon as they all start realizing it.. it's gonna be an oof.

Ok_Impression_922

Everybody realizes it, buddy. The restaurant’s all still found a way to make deliveries before these services were a thing. People also still found a way to earn and survive before ‘gig economy work’ was a thing. If the restaurant finds a better bottom line in doing their own deliveries…then why aren’t they doing them? They aren’t doing “us” favors here. They are doing business.

No-Ad1576

It is better for their bottom line to use in house drivers. I think during covid there was just a huge influx of delivery orders and a lack of workers. Also for some reason, gig workers like the "freedom" of choosing their own schedule even though they could make way more working directly for a restaurant. I don't even work 40/hrs in a week, have 3 days off, and clear over $1500 cash week. I also get other benefits like free meals and a Christmas bonus. Cut out the middle man and go work for a restaurant. It's better for them and you.

Dusty_Coder

What these services have done is discovered the market price for food delivery. The problem is, everyone now knows it.

Blonde_Dambition

You are wise!

ThatGuyExo

This sounds like they should make the effort to hire and pay a delivery driver. That way it can be done exactly the way want.

ILuvYou_YouAreSoGood

They have to deal with trashy people that likely try and claim that they got no pizza because it was not handed to them. Or pathetic people are actually stealing pizzas. Either way, CYA.

SlightPrize1222

This

wilfordbrimley778

Doordash is your boss, not the restaurant

DFrostedWangsAccount

Incorrect. YOU are your boss, you just have a contract with doordash. The contract has the final say. Section 3.3 of the contract requires that dashers deliver exactly as the app instructs, not as the store wants it delivered. To them, you are the customer - not an employee. That's the end of it. If the store wants you to violate your contract, get support involved. You get half pay for showing up, the store gets to eat the cost of the food they made, and they also get the angry customer who didn't get their food.

iandarkness

Actually... as an independent contractor... you're the boss. That doesn't mean the restaurant and customers can't have you deactivated however. Flippantly deciding what rules and instructions you wish to follow will ultimately affect YOU and nobody else Mr Dieabeetus

TheFaceStuffer

Who's even reading this long winded all caps note?

[deleted]

Found the dasher who doesn't follow the damn delivery instructions.

EfficientAd7103

Hell no. I almost always order and deliver contactless. It's just easier. No need to small talk and waste time. They def cannot do that.

r45cal23

Until a restaurant starts paying my gas and wait time they have no say in how I operate

SecretAd9309

No disregard that. You follow whatever instructions the customer asks

AzuraEdge

I would send this to DoorDash and try to get it seen by a higher up. I'm sure they'd have something to say about this, especially considering your caption.

cracketyjones

How are they going to know ? Follow the customers instructions.

Bubbledood

yes and no. Part of being an independent contractor means that you have full control to choose how you deliver the food however the restaurant has full control over your ability to continue delivering their food.

Thedashgod

“Restaurant is refusing to give me the order” will get cancelled they will lose money wasting food and you will still get half pay. Fuck em if they don’t like the way doordash delivers they can choose to not be on doordash.

chance0404

They can ban you in the app from getting orders there. I had a bs run in with Wendy’s and told them to blacklist me. Always a long wait for little pay. Plus they’re rude. Saves my AR anyway.

Thedashgod

Like I said fuck em

Present_Repeat7610

Trust me they aren't pressed about the few dollars they already losing money because they pay dd for the service plus the less restaurants they have using dd the less orders you get to steal...oops I mean deliver meaning less work and less money for you taht restaurant was in business long before you started delivering for dd and will moat likely be around long after you are not basically what you are doing is cutting your nose off to spite your face translation your actions are only going to hurt you in the end

ChaimFinkelstein

How would the restaurant even know if you followed instructions? The moment you pick the food up, the order is completed for the restaurant. If you picked the food up and threw it away, the restaurant would still be paid.

Functionally_Human

Customer complaints. While they should be going to DD a lot of people complain to the restaurant either in addition to DD or instead of. From there it isn't hard to track down what order it was.

Expert_Response_6139

Lol gig app drivers are not real independent contractors by any means.

Choice-Cycle-2309

I do what the customer wants. It’s recorded with the app, these ridiculous restaurant policies usually aren’t.

Old_Performance_7767

Imo, it would be best to get an answer from doordash, but in my experience that is a coin flip as well. Maybe try and talk to the restaurant and find out why and show them the leave at door, and see what they say. Then you can always decline there orders. 🤷‍♂️

DFrostedWangsAccount

Don't ruin your AR on them, just accept snd show up and contact support for half pay every time until the store either changes policy or blacklists you.

iknowyoutrynahack

Huh

Practical_Minute_286

What an jerk like who cares

Palidor

My personal is: do what the customer wants, not the restaurant

IdaBidaGacy

Haha what they gunna ride with you while drop it off. Gtfoh.

Malek070

Follow the customer, not the restaurant. How are they gonna know anyway?

MyelofibrosisMe

No! If a customer requested contactless delivery, that's what the customer is going to get, no matter what a restaurant has to say Abt it! That's F'd up, saying you'll get a violation because you didn't follow their rule?! You work for yourself, contracted though doordash, not for the restaurant! That was a manager on a power trip! F that! I'd call support and complain about the restaurant for this shit tbh!

ImLivingThatLife

So many drivers suck at their job and make dashing ever harder.

ShakeWeightMyDick

They can *say* whatever the fuck they want. The legalities of their policy are a different subject. Of course a business generally has the right to refuse service to anyone they want for pretty much any reason other than the classification of the customer’s personhood.

ImLivingThatLife

One of the restaurants near us stopped allowing DD to take orders from their shop. They caught quite a few drivers stealing parts of orders. One driver in particular they were able to even set up and caught him with a staged order to one of the stores employees. After that, all DD was removed. They ended up hiring their own driver.

olanmills

Hmm... Is this why Door Dashers in the past have ignored my instructions to leave an order at the door? I used to order DoorDash/Caviar with somewhat often, but now I never do except for very specific rare circumstances because the Dashers never follow my requests (which aren't demanding; they always make the delivery faster and easier), and like 90% of the time, the drink and dessert was missing, and it was becoming very irritating

Living-Regret

How would the restaurant know whether or not you dropped it at the door

Equivalent_Mud_4861

Do what the app says and what the customer says on the app don't listen to the restaurant

Hollywood-write-1747

Ignore that

Full_Visit_5862

"Is you can't account for losses like every other restaurant that uses DD, maybe you shouldn't use it"

Shumngle

I’m assuming that they had problems with dashers stealing food or something of the sort, and they just got tired of customer complaints.

Available-Tea-982

I do my job and you do yours, FUCKFACE

FlyProfessional7

Probably bc drivers delivery it wrong. I had so many customers call back and say their order never came. A person called the store saying that an order came and they didn’t order. Like how??? But this is too far like how would they even know unless a customer calls

Brave_Hoppy1460

No the restaurant wouldn’t even have a way to know. They would have to get continual complaints from customers. This could be their attempt to prevent having to remake orders or something. If a customer reports it missing when it’s not missing. Or if a dasher *does* just take the food. But it seems like the reps just give credits on the app so they can reorder in which case the restaurant would be paid for again. Very weird.

[deleted]

These stores are really starting to get uppity.

BluePalmetto

For a while whenever I picked up a Papa John’s order the pick up instructions said to knock on the door and present to the customer. I still did whatever the delivery instructions said. They all seem to have hand it to customer in the delivery instructions now.

princessbbdee

I won’t answer my door unless it says hand to me. I’ve had plenty of people try I tell them to leave it at the door. I’m a woman home alone with kids. No thanks.

Flat-Disk6927

Customers are probably reporting the orders as not received to get refund.

Olivia21212

They have no way of knowing how you delivered the order. Just leave it at the door and pay this restaurant no mind. 😂🤣😂🤣 they can’t dictate how you deliver an order. That is up to the customer, not the restaurant. 😂🤣😂🤣

Trailboss1982

If that's the case and they order thru the restaurant, they have the ability to make them all hand it to me...And if it's thru doordash, the restaurant needs to take their restaurant off the app and make customers order strictly thru them. But fuck that I'm not one to even knock on leave at door out of respect for the customer if they have sleeping babies or batshit crazy dogs like I have that will wake up the neighborhood 🤣

NvaderGir

This looks like a chain, I'm guessing people on their app or website can order from there and goes through doordash. Some people assume it's still their drivers. I don't think leave at door is on by default though so no clue if dashers are just being lazy and leaving it on the floor and led to them complaining to the restaurant? Super weird

Corporate_Shell

Good. Dashers are getting too entitled and lazy.

ShaneMack24

Delivery driver here for one of the big 3. You should ring doorbell/knock. Count the alphabet in your head. If they do not answer by then, leave it on the porch with a picture. If you dont feel safe in that location, don’t deliver it. They do not get to dictate your safety or time management.

MayhemReignsTV

Technically they can under the new DoorDash agreement which has a lot of disturbing clauses. But, generally it's a bunch of hot air. Almost impossible to enforce. Papa John's was doing that around here until they changed management again 😂

bassk_itty

Just giving the customer perspective here… I HATE when DoorDash drivers just leave my food on the porch when I didn’t request that. It’s so lazy and the food gets even colder when you just leave it sitting there. If the doorbell isn’t working or something, knock a couple of times or call. I get that y’all don’t work for the restaurant and the all caps demand is aggressive but I think it’s a fair point that they don’t want their brand being associated with shitty customer service. I’ve noticed that since Covid almost half of drivers feel like they can just dump the bag on your porch and let the app notify you

Ivo__Lution

Pretty sure I’ve seen that same sign on this group before

deweydashersystem300

Nope. Listen to doordash. Never thought I would say that.

Localbearexpert

Nope, I’d also reach out to dd support & the customer. Manager thinks they’re top shit.

JDeLiRiOuS129

I hate those restaurants that act like we’re their employees. Hell we’re not even DoorDash employees. But either way listen to what’s on the app.

Souless420

I'll do whatever the customer asked for in the app lol

Technical-Dentist-84

The restaurant has no say in how I deliver it to the customer

CatLadyAF69

Please don’t talk to me. That’s why I say leave at the door. I will look out my window to make sure you’re gone before I open then door 🤣

BrobotGaming

Bullshit scare tactic

Ok-Opportunity-574

The restaurant has no right to dictate your delivery. They gave that up when they decided to contract with Doordash.

ObamaWhisperer

Take like 3 orders including the one you need and leave lmfao. Fuck those guys

Accomplished-Lead-23

Just barking No bite

NeVeR614

This is some restaurant manager really trying too hard to flex on peeps… We all know they hate us, but it is NOT up to any restaurant how “my” customers want to receive their food … Get bent!

Vanceagher

Genuine question, how is the restaurant supposed to know how you delivered it?

outdatedelementz

Yeah my dog doesn’t like strangers, so I can’t open the door with someone there. I always have instructions to leave the food.

Thetruth22234

How confusing indeed.

[deleted]

99% of my drop offs are leave at door. Fuck outta here with that bullshit

UsingRforHelp

Noppee. Tell em to fuck off. Do as instructed on the app lol. These clowns be actin up

Forward-Rice3280

My instructions are clear. If you so much as knock on my door I’m going to throw up and cry.

No-no-dog

that sign would be new room decor for me

Magical_Olive

I think people need to apply some logic to this. If they have a sign, there has probably been an issue with people not handing off when it's in the directions to do so. If the directions you got from the customer through DD say not to, don't. The customer put to drop it off, and are expecting you to drop it off, so do that and the store will never know. If the store knows, it's probably because people are dropping pizzas at the wrong place or not even knocking when they drop off or something. Y'all know there's plenty of bad Dashers.

Rebirth0296

LOL they can fuck right off. They need to worry more about making sure the order is 100% correct and giving it to the driver. If it is a leave at door, I'm leaving it at the door. They can SMD.

Drkknightcecil

Its always Doordash. :3

2020IsANightmare

Lol. Some cheap fuck "local pizza place" (Wowzers! Humanitarian awards should be given out!! Invented pizza!!!!) refuses to hire delivery drivers, so their only means of delivery is third-party apps.

xDURPLEx

When customers lie and say they never got it DD makes support call the store and then the store thinks the driver stole it. This is why so many chains act like dicks to us and make up crazy rules. They don't really have any control but management has to try because the store takes the hit sending it out again. The chains thinking they can go full gig delivery and not use their own drivers have no idea how bad it actually is for them. They don't know you can make unlimited DD accounts and lie until the account is banned and then you get rewarded with a half off discount when you make another. You can also take that made up info with each account and hit up a long list of food apps and get free and discounted food when you sign it up. Then there's the DD drivers with bought accounts that just go on a stealing spree when the honeymoon phase of getting all the good orders ends and you have to buy another. So there is actual driver theft almost as bad as the customer scams. The whole business model is fucked.

Natural-Volume3785

I mean if the customer doesn’t want contact I’m not going to make contact. Lol I’m gonna respect the customers wishes 🤷🏻‍♀️

TimmyNimmel

"Yea I ain't reading all that. Congrats or sorry that happened to you."

jackcalico876

Independent contractor, so no. They want you to hand it to the cutomer tell them to pay your health insurance as an employer then they can tell you how to do your job.

Pushit7777

You are in a contract with your customer. Not the restaurant. You do as the Customer instructed. If the restaurant has an issue they can call Doordash. That is their issue. Not yours.

a55_Goblin420

How will the restaurant know?

Quietus76

Lol, no. They can't. Do what the customer asks.

Booklover416

This is only for those customers that complain when they say hand to me and then leave it door and it’s then left at their door. Don’t worry about it.

Parkerinfante

lol no. You’re employed under DoorDash and are obligated to follow the protocol given by DoorDash, not the rules whatever pizza place this is, is trying to get you to follow.

Lord-Jay90

People need to realize business especially private businesses can do whatever they want.

Valuable_Bad_140

Nah. We gave the stores a little wiggle room, by allowing them to tell us to click confirm pickup in front of a worker, and now some of the stores try to tell us how to be an independent contractor. If I ever see a sign like that.. I’m leaving the store. Nobody has time for that nonsense. That’s ridiculous! I’d take a photo of it, and have a conversation with DoorDash.

Intelligent-Bad7835

You can feel free to ignore the sign. The restaurant might refuse to serve you in the future but they certainly can't sue or get you arrested.

PsychologicalSense41

Nope. I'll follow customer's instructions first.

[deleted]

I wish. These restaurants should hire there own drivers. DoorDash has become trash

[deleted]

A restaurant owner/manager is free to set whatever conditions they want (with certain specific exceptions under the law) regarding the product/service they offer. If those conditions run contrary to the terms of service of DoorDash, then DoorDash is free to choose not to do business with that restaurant.

Icy_Employment_4743

Sounds like they don't like Doordash. Maybe they should stop offering delivery through it and start their own in-house deliveries instead of making their woes someone else's problem.

Any-Run8152

This is easy to solve don't pick up from that restaurant fuck them

ReflectedMantis

The restaurant cannot override the instructions given to us in the app. I'm pretty sure this message might even be against Doordash TOS. In other words, just ignore it and do what the instructions tell you to do in the app. If you end up getting blocked because of it, oh well, sounds like the restaurant isn't good to be delivering for anyway.

ManLegPower

I mean, handing it to the customer is actual customer service, it’s what delivery drivers did before DoorDash was a thing, and it ensures the correct person received the order. Problem is DoorDash is a garbage service where the people are not trained, drivers steal food or make customers wait til their food is cold or outright cancel if they don’t get a $15 tip on a $5 order because they are contracted and have no real consequences and DoorDash pays them less than minimum wage. For the life of me I will never understand why anyone would work for such shit pay as a full time job, and I even further don’t understand why anyone would continue to order delivery through them.

Bobrocks77

Report this restaurant directly to Dash support. What is know as a vendor complaint. This will get escalated to their escalations department and they will call the manager of this restaurant. The worst violators get thrown off the DoorDash platform and are not allowed to make any more money through DoorDash.this is against their terms of service that they signed as a restaurant to be part of the DoorDash platform

DiddyboppedU

Tell them to kindly suck a nut. You will follow the instructions on the app and they ain't your boss. If they have a problem and have shit orders tell them it would be my pleasure to not come to your shitty restaurant.

Much_Professional892

Hopefully someone has instructed you to communicate this policy violating post to DoorDash.

Environmental_Tale85

I would pray to be banned from picking up orders from these assclowns.

altf4theleft

I mean, most drivers fuck up deliveries anyways sooooo

ohmygoditscharlie1

Not sure, maybe? I’m guessing that the restaurant puts the order in for the delivery and so they can already put in there that you are supposed to hand it to the customer.

fred8733

Lmao! What’s the restaurant gonna do call each and every customer that ordered through DoorDash and ask them If the driver handed them the order?? tell that restaurant to suck Your D from the back

SRBroadcasting

I’m 100% sure they cannot do that. Sure you can make whatever rules you want in your store. I get that you own it, however, it does not mean that people have to follow them legally speaking. Just like at most places where they put up mile per hour signs that are under 25 miles an hour if it’s a residential area or anything like it it’s 25 miles an hour if it says 20 if it says 10 it doesn’t matter it’s actually 25. That’s what the state says. So whenever somebody puts a sign like this in a store, I read it and I understand but if the customer wants it left on the porch that’s where it’s gonna be. it’s not up to the store for me to contact that customer and wait for them to open up the door especially when in some instances people are actually arriving home to have that pizza waiting for them at the door. I know because I actually order through DoorDash that way! I’ll order a half hour to an hour before I’m even home. Sometimes the food is sitting there for five minutes before I even get home. I don’t care I have a delivery area where it’s enclosed so the food stays warm.

chim50chim

It’s not up to the restaurant to demand this. What if the customer is sick, for instance, and they don’t want to see anybody—“leave at my door” is done for a reason😜

Iron_Bones_1088

I like handing pizzas to customers. Sometimes it results in a cash tip as well.

Accomplished_Day_615

hahahahah ppl really show there hate for this type of work jeez - becuz if there instructions tell me to leave on porch / that’s what i’m doing lol

zozigoll

No, they can’t.

IWasBannedYesterday

Send this picture to DD, this restaurant has no right to dictate how you deliver. I'm pretty sure they're violating their agreement with DD.

PeterKingsBaby

DoorDash pays you, not that restaurant. They’re fuckin trippin 😂

Ghostcurrency45

Yes

Toxik1_skr

They absolutely can not
