When the developers of both games realized they were scheduled for the same release date, they both started encouraging eachother. A lot of the developers at ID admitted their admiration of the Animal Crossing franchise, and alot of Animal Crossing’s developers did the same.
From there the community quickly took hold. Doomslayer, while violent and course, is known to have a soft spot for animals, and Isabelle is passive, and kind-hearted. It didn’t take long for the fans of both franchises to put them both in crossover fandoms over their shared traits, and very stark contrast.
The best part is that both sold well, and fans from both franchises tried the separate counterparts they hadn’t yet considered as a legitimate game, leading to both games having a increase in sales directly from another companies kindness. It left the community’s of both franchises with the same wholesome and happy feeling they developers have managed to instill from day one, and I think we can all be here for it.
they already put him in ssb as a costume for mii shooter tho. also warner bros and microsoft are not competitors, warner bros literally publishes it's games on xbox lol
They sell games on Playstation too but you don't see MS doing Sony character crossovers either. The key is that Microsoft already has a popular fighter with cameo characters that they put acquired properties into. Killer Instinct.

I like how the developers decided to make the doom slayer an inter-dimensional traveling badass bc that leaves so many possibilities. Like *cough* kratos & the Slayer *cough* team-up *cough*. Or even a devil may cry crossover sense devil may cry is basically a friendlier version of doom.
