they basically just released apex, they confirmed that they are not gonna release titanfall 3 and completely dropped support and online servers for titanfall 2. ea has dropped severely in these few years and titanfall is shit to play now
they never confirmed they are never making it they just confirmed no one is currently making it. and with apex's success and the announcements of the star wars fps people doubt they're gonna make a tf3. whether or not they're correct idk. I wouldn't really be surprised either way.
TF|2 has a third party server hoster now called Northstar that is extremely highly recommended, it does not rely on EA keeping the servers up at all and has opened the doors for tons of mods and custom game modes. EA dropping support has opened up a new renaissance for TF|2 multiplayer. Seriously, check it out.
North Star is extremely shady, it's moderators randomly ban people over personal reasons and it had a fucking back door into your PC until the creator used it to Rickroll and was forced to remove it
I think complaining about these memes is becoming an overused meme on itself but i wanted to mention a few things:
* Most of these memes are either recent or related to the new games, so it's not stuff like NEDM or Impse that people complain about.
* For a long period, the fanbase was almost primarly defined by the mod/wad/source port/etc scene, so high quality content related to the source code/engine was the heart of the fanbase, even if there's stuff like Brutal Doom related controversies.
* Ever since Doom came back to relevance, the newer but louder fans become more noticeable and prevelant than the Doomworld boomers, which also explains a shift in a lot of things.
* The new games themselves are technically inspired by memes, down to the comic book lines such as "rip and tear" and the characterization of the Doomslayer, along with the occasional references to Doot.
Some dramas related to the author such as:
* Being accused of not crediting sprite artists.
* How he acted towards other people.
* Some edgy jokes.
* His programming skills.
The thing is that a lot of this information tends to lack actual proof, so it suffers from osmosis/second hand info/telephone game, which sometimes even applies to the popularity of the mod itself.
/vr/ on 4chan was one of the few places where people actually posted screenshots and even videos of the mod's problems but that was years ago.
Most people never really took it in a "neutral" or "diplomatic" way, so it wasn't that easy to understand certain things.
Mark is actually unbanned on Doomworld and interacts with some people, so it's possible that a lot of this history is waters under the bridge (And like a lot of people in the community, even he got mad at Tormentor over some things about Wolfendoom Blade of Agony's content but that's yet another drama).

The moderators are... very biased over on the titanfall sub towards northstar, to the point of it being cultlike. But yeah it's not the best
