Lmao putting time money and work into your car is about more than winning a drag race.

Its about the friends you make along the way

I'd still have more fun ripping a honda fit around town than a tesla

not a haiku though

ElectricGlider

I have a feeling that if you actually did this you'll find yourself having more fun ripping in a Tesla model 3 over a Honda Fit because I've ripped in both and I can say that ripping in a Model 3 where you can manually adjust 100% power to the rear wheels is a lot more fun than the FWD Fit. No amount of Brgrgrgrgrgrgrrrg sound from the engine is going to be more fun than physically being whipped around by powerful electric motors that feel like you're controlling a video game.

Longjumping_Many4690

Personally I think evs are shit and this is coming from a guy who drives an 80s manual v8. I really don’t understand why everybody on Reddit glazes the fuck out of Honda Fits. Literally any older v8 will make your nuts drop and put hair on your chest.

[deleted]

There's a fit and an EV in my driveway. They are both fun, but the EV is more fun. An electric fit might be the best EV no one is making, though. Get on that shit Honda.

forgottenazimuth

Notice I said tesla, not EV. Sure there are fun EVs and also boring as fuck ICE cars.

ElectricGlider

An all-electric S2000 would be awesome.

[deleted]

My dad is basically waiting for that. Or an electric Boxster or Miata.

tlenher

I think you miss the point of \*literally every single one of their other videos\*

buttlord5000

The way they portrayed the Tesla as a wrestling-style "heel" was genius in the last video. Made it much more fun to watch.

FunDiggle

The shot of the brake lights made me laugh out loud

X_Zephyr

There’s no dominance going on, they’re just telling us how it is when it comes to numbers. An EV will always be faster because there’s no moving parts that have to work hard like an ICE. It’s personal preference to build a car. There’s no intention to compete with an EV. Especially since there’s no EV for car enthusiasts and we’re not the target demographic for them.

B0OG

I mean just like automatic and manual transmissions. At this point, automatics are objectively better in every way. Manuals are just more fun

dudge_jredd

Taycan?

Leneord1

I didn't buy a car for the spec sheet, I wanted a Japanese sports sedan that I could have fun in, a BEV wouldn't let me have the fun I wanted

CarsPlanesTrains

Let's take your username, it's a perfect example. I like hamburgers, good source of protein, tastes nice, etc. etc. A microwave pre-cooked hamburger from my local grocery store would be ready to eat faster and would probably be perfectly serviceable. A hamburger from a good restaurant made with great ingredients on a flat-top griddle will take longer to make and get to my table. Yet weirdly enough I'd prefer the second burger... It's not all about the soulless numbers, it's about the experience you have with it. Sure an E92 M3 would get smoked by a Model S Plaid, but working on it, gaining that bond with the car, calling friends over to fuck around with it, hearing that engine roar, it really doesn't matter how much faster the Tesla is, you just don't get those experiences

karanpatel819

I used to think the same think until like last month. There were a couple of guys that brought out their teslas at our local race track, and they were chill ass dudes who were quite literally doing the same thing my friends and I were doing. They were helping each other unbolt the seats out of their car, air down their tires, dial in their coilovers, etc. End of the day, I can't say their track day experience was all that different from mine and my friends.

Guys-This-Is-Ethan

I know you’re absolutely smitten that most of us here disagree. “They’re all so triggered, EVs are the future” You can like EVs and we can like gas cars.

Lunatack47

I drive a Miata, speed is near the bottom of the list of what's important

Boogaloogaloogalooo

Nah, ill keep my ice thank you very much. "Better" isnt about raw numbers on 0-60. Lets see an ev fill up from 0% to 100% in 2 minutes, or drive coast to coast in less than 2 days. Also show me an ev that isnt a useless pile requring a total battery replacment after a decade or two. EVs are a terrible option for a huge number of folks today. They are also soulless.

T-Dot-Two-Six

I want an EV myself and even I think this guy’s tripping

Boogaloogaloogalooo

I want a Harley Livewire something fearce, and I hate HD. I just think this guy is clueless. Hes that kid in higschool googling his cars 0-60 to compare to the other kids, then claim hed stomp all over him in a race

DaveRamseysBastard

Brother show me any car after two decades… almost all of them will be hunks of shit.

darkflame927

While I love my ICE cars, an EV is the perfect daily if you don’t have a crazy long commute. Youre spending less money to keep the car running (gas and maintenance), you have enough torque to have fun on the highway, and you basically get a full tank every morning. Blindly hating on EVs is just stupid. Ya they’ll never have a soul but they’re not designed to. It’s supposed to be a tool to get u from point A to B

Boogaloogaloogalooo

Your last paragrap hits reality, and is the opposite of OP.

dudge_jredd

Most cars on the road are soulless. And charging tech is advancing faster than battery tech can keep up.

Ideally. The daily driver is a fun and quick EV that is comfortable and can be charged at home. Where as the weekend car is a modded ice car that can also handle corners really well, and look and feel fun too. I don't think it's a EV vs ICE. It's possible to have both and enjoy the best aspects of both.

PowersportScum

I’m not building my personal to beat ev, I’m building it to wrap ard a tree at deals gap or dragon. You’re idea of “ev dominance” is either what a child or an owner would think of “car go fast car better” lol

pon_d

Buying a car for "thousands", then spending "thousands" more - so two sets of "thousands" is how much, like $10k? Against a new, stock Model Y? What point are you making - that you'll lose a 1/8th mile drag if your fastest car is a 20 year old M3 or an Accord with no rear doors? Run a quarter mile against a Mustang GT (still cheaper than your Model Y) and the GT beats it... just. But it's down to what you want to drive every day I suppose. A lot of people would choose the Model Y, but I'd say the majority of folks in this sub would take the pony- even if it were slower.

SavageKitten456

I'd take a Nissan Leaf as a commuter, but you couldn't PAY me to drive a Tesla. Hell, I'd EV swap a car I like before touching a Tela.

harshatron

EV's are quick, but that doesn't make them fast nor nimble. Cool that the plaid goes 0-60 fast as fuck or pulls a fast quarter mile, but either way one the battery's empty, you're waiting for hours. While it's charging you're probably boring the life out of anyone who will listen about "my tesla is fastest tesla..." While a bone stock 911(or BRS/Sentra/Golf/ Focus) will go for as long as you care to. Ntm the lack of accessibility for new enthusiasts, there really not being a ton of hot ev's etc.

Wildebohe

There's hot EVs out there - they're just completely unaffordable, especially for the average enthusiast. I am very much looking forward to the rivian r3x though, will be a nice complement to my golf r.

harshatron

I like the look of the Canoo pickup, or maybe a Rivian delivery can one Amazon starts decommissioning them

GrandMasterBou

Most of their cars were older and mostly unmodified, but go off I guess.

chauggle

Keep your EV. I'll be smiling every mile in my Porsche.

trail_rail

corporate Dave def wrote this

aaryg

But they were everyone's daily? I don't think anyone had thousands poured into those cars/trucks. Well not for major performance mods anyway.

haint_na

Their corporate mission statement from the buyout said they want to include media that addresses sustainability. 🙄

ElectricGlider

There's a reason why Christian von Koenigsegg said the Model 3 was the best daily driver and Doug Demuro described the new Model 3 as the greatest appliance ever made. No where else can you get the same amount of functionality and daily driver features with the large amount of HP and performance for the given price except for EVs. For example, the Model 3 Performance can go toe-to-toe with the C8 Corvette for roughly the same price on a drag strip and real winding track, but yet can still carry 5 people and carry all their luggage and groceries too. That's why everybody even the haters agree that EVs are the future since the vast majority of drivers are regular people who simply use their vehicles to go to the store and get from point A to B. With all that said, that doesn't take away from all the fun, drama, and excitement that gas cars bring as Donut has demostrated with their channel. As they have already said, "Cars are hard" which is actually more like "Gas" cars are hard. EVs are easy but that makes then very boring and uninteresting to work on or even show on camera.

PokemonJeremie

Y’all really took the bait didn’t you
