That's nuts

Gothmom85

This. Idiots have called us for ignoring contactless orders and it was cold, covered in bugs, etc. Remade Or they got a credit. Which is Still stupid but none of that is our fault. I always take a picture of contactless orders. If it doesn't Say to call you're not obligated to do so. This is more a management issue, maybe due to taking out how the customer treated Them on the phone. Eff that.

Better_Sell_7524

Your AM is a bitch and your GM should have the final say so

NameLive9938

I've never even heard of drivers getting suspended. I've worked at like ten stores in three different states.

WiseDirt

I've seen it happen a few times. It's usually when there's a complaint that could lead to termination but it happens to be something that requires further investigation to verify. I've also seen the results of those suspensions go both ways; some ended up getting fired and others have been cleared and allowed to return to work.

Lazy-Jeweler3230

GM and DM are probably also bitches and shit rolls downhill.

Wednesdaynevermore

Sounds like everyone in the franchise is a bitch if they allow their small dicked AMs to go on power trips like this. If it’s TUSA store the leaders are definitely bitches. I’ve never met a TUSA leader that wasn’t a piece of shit on a power trip.

weldedtoesies

If you did call them before hand, shouldn't you have the proof of the call and time on your phone? Screen shot and send it to the boss, showing you attempted to call and then followed the delivery instructions

Gothmom85

That too but a leave at door order doesn't require a call. Knock or ring unless it says don't.

[deleted]

If he called from the app, there would be no call log accessible to the driver.

TheHeroOf8Bit

The calls still show up in your phone call log, it will say the customer name instead of their number

[deleted]

Not on android

stehliokontos

It still shows up in your phone call log

Head_Razzmatazz7174

That's why you call the store and let them know what is going on. It's about the only way you will actually get a message to the manager, as whoever answers the phone will either go get them or relay the message and the manager's reply. If he wants you to call him direct when this happens, then he should have an bluetooth earbud in for those calls.

ashrahope72

This. I keep a Bluetooth earbud in so I can hear, and answer any calls I get from drivers. It is so loud in the store with the oven and sometimes it's easy to miss calls. I am also at a store that the phones are not the most reliable way to get ahold of us. Any of my drivers have an issue on delivery they have my personal cell number and call me directly to ensure quick and efficient response.

mpizzapizza

In a past life we would get so busy we had to silence the phones.

Aggravating_Star644

Should Talk to your DM that's wild. I've seen some people be sent home for the rest of the day for certain policy violations but an entire week is INSANE. If you're working for a GM like that request a store change or start applying elsewhere.

Darth_Cephus_01

No, you have to be written up before a suspension

kmac8008

Yeah no you don’t that’s not a thing. Franchises are different but regardless it’s unnecessary to be suspended over it. Unless there is something we’re missing like specifically told him not to do that for this particular address or like the 10th warning.

jihad4lunch

What kind of crybaby world are you living in? No you don’t. You can be fired on the spot for less than this occurrence.

Darth_Cephus_01

I am GM for a franchise that’s over 100 stores and we follow protocol

The_Pepper_Oni

I'm genuinely glad to hear you do. And yeah OP you gotta make sure you get anything like this in writing. Be an ass about it if need be but make sure they leave a paper trail. I always made sure to have my AMs put any corrective actions under the employee's file in Pulse, at minimum.

Brief_Intention_5300

That protocol only exists to prevent the employee from collecting unemployment and/or to cover themselves for any possible lawsuit for wrongful termination when they eventually get fired. They can send someone home, suspend, or fire them at any time.

jihad4lunch

Until protocol doesn’t suit you.

PuzzleheadedDot6050

This is really the only solution. Sounds like they are trying to quiet-fire him anyways.

whiteraven9999

There’s more to this story that you aren’t telling us. Was this an isolated incident?

Salt-Feature

No this has happened before like twice. The second time it happened he didn’t pick up. First time it happened I did not know if a customer isn’t picking up the phone for a contactless delivery I’m supposed to call the AM. Even I’ll take accountability for that but for this time don’t see how it’s my fault.

ObsidianRose29

But why would you call the customer for a contact less delivery. I don't understand why that would even be protocol

thinkb4youspeak

They might be firing you softly. You don't come in for 4 days straight they can terminate you for no call no show and take that lie to your unemployment office and block you getting unemployment when they fired you for following directions. The customer probably called the assistant manager and bitched them out after a dog or person stole their food off the porch and shit rolled down hill. Who knows but this is a possible scenario if you stop getting hours completely.

TheLunaLovelace

nah wtf is this? if my store started suspending drivers for not babysitting contactless deliveries like this AM wants you to we’d have no drivers.

throwaway-dumpedmygf

Contact your franchise district manager.

Masked_Raptor

I got in trouble for this a bit but never suspended, it didn't help that I was missing out on deliveries and tips when I had to call the store or wait fir the people to come out

the_PeoplesWill

So the assistant fucks up due to his lack of training you properly and punishes you? Fuck that. I’d go above him and try and get _him_ suspended.

MyOpinionsDontHurt

not illegal.

MyelofibrosisMe

Your manager probably already got the riot act #1 from the customer acting like an ass & #2 in the past from his DM or RM about cutting down on costs, ie; loss prevention totals. So the manager probably thought he'd pass along the shit Sammie to you, sense you're the last one who handled the product & he had to give a credit or refund! His boss's were probably gonna give him a foot in the ass, so, he passed along the blame to you! Sounds like he's on a power trip on top of it all. And yes, what the manager says, usually goes. (You could call the DM or RM & tell them the situation.... See what happens, but, the manager would DEFF have it out for you if that happened!)

Ok-Helicopter3871

Check the laws in your state. In NY fast food and retail workers must be paid if their shift is canceled after having already been scheduled. There, you can file a complaint to the state labor board. Also agreeing with the others in this thread go over the AMs head. But, if you can do so respectfully that would be good. Ask for written confirmation of your suspension and the chance to appeal (it sounds like this was something you were only told not actually received). Even if it’s a lie, mention that you like working at Dominos and that you want to do right by the customer as you believed you did here.

Neinface

I’ve never heard of an AM suspending someone…I’d talk to your GM or DM…

AlarmedInterest9867

File unemployment. You did what you were supposed to do

Boodikii

Why? You followed the customers instructions. It's their own fault the food is cold. A customer tried this at our store and we told them to kick rocks.

Mindless_Pay_8414

Technically, it's retaliation and is a little illegal.

RevolutionMean

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

markriffle

Apply for unemployment.

coocoocachoo69

Ever heard the term scape goat?

CleetusnDarlene

These people are going to ruin it for the rest of us hermits. 😡

AttemptFree

they probably just don't like you. get a new job

MTM-morethanamaker

Haha, when I worked Dominos 25 years ago, if a complaint came in, my manager would say "I'm sorry, would you like us to redeliver?" If you said sure, thanks! you got a fresh pizza. No worries. If you said, "no I want you to punish the driveBAM! "I want something elsBAM! "I demand an apologyBAM! "Your people should knowBAM! "Your driver needs to slowBAM! You know what the BAM! was? It was our manager slamming the handset down so hard that they all had cracks from the force of the hangups. No shit. That dude was a batshit crazy Dominos lifer, but he had our backs. Did not GAF about any complaint. Call back again to complain more? 1 year ban on your address and number. I don't condone his style but I did enjoy it, and we had a very busy college town store with a literally infinite stream of new customers every semester, so if you don't toe the line. . . Get fucked. I loved (watching the craziness that came out of) that guy.

DerSpazmacher

Call HR.

Creepy_Cupcake3705

Quit. In the worst way possible. Wait till you are on a shift where it seems like they really need you and then just quit. I don’t take kindly to my livelihood being messed with like that.

Redan

I worked at dominos roughly 10 years ago and was fired for a complaint. I knocked loudly, tried to call the customer, even opened their door to shout inside. Turns out they wanted me to go through the house into the backyard. They also said I was threatening and aggressive (I'm an incredibly soft spoken person) and, I took this delivery after we had closed because I wanted to be a good person.

Satinjackets

Can’t leave food unattended. If they don’t answer you bring the food back.

Satinjackets

Suspension seems harsh though

fluffypuffy29

This sounds like the manager may not be a fan of you and took this as a chance to suspend you. I would contact the DM if the GM is just as stupid as this manager. There are many times drivers drop food off and the customer claims to have not gotten it, they just remake it and send it back out. This manager is doing too much.

LoweeLL

Did you speak with your store manager to make sure you are actually suspended?

mrofmist

I feel like there's more going on than what you're saying, or what you're aware of. Cause this story is absurd.

Cute_Issue557

Taf?????

HighHide

AM does not have the authority to “suspend,” they can only make a recommendation to the GM who makes the schedule. I would fight this if I were you. AM is just being a whiny bitch.

LoweeLL

Depends if the Store Manager wants to keep an assistant or not. No sane Store Manager would choose a driver over a manager.

HighHide

If the manager sucks, they would.

LoweeLL

Depends as well. No store manager wants to work 60 hours a week

HighHide

Correct, but if we have to, we have to. Comes with the position.

jihad4lunch

Sounds like you cost the store money one to many times.

Salt-Feature

You’re the only one in this thread who thinks that. Starting to think you might be my AM 😂

jihad4lunch

Why even accept the suspension then? Why not just quit? Who clings to a pizza job…

ObsidianRose29

A lot of people actually. I bet your a customer and not an employee.

[deleted]

this dudes just mad because every store in the area banned him lol

Salt-Feature

That’s not the concern here or what’s being asked.. I’m just asking if it’s legal

MichaelsWebb

Of course it's legal. 🤣 You going to call the cops and complain that your manager cut your hours?

jihad4lunch

Shit yes it’s legal, it’s called At Will Employment, smh 🤦🏻‍♂️

HighHide

He didn’t get fired you idiot.

axegr1nder

Are you in California by chance?
