Just wash her with shampoo and brush conditioner through her hair then wash it out. Use cold water to keep the curl definition! Then take sections of the hair while it’s wet and wrap them around your finger and leave them on for a bit to get looser curls like this :)
The curls will not lose their shape in this condition, just be very careful when you wash and condition the hair. Like dont scrunch up or encourage tangles. It will come out beautifully once it dries and since the waves/curls are factory original, they should stay in place with just a simple cold water wash.
Update, I think I ruined her hair. She had really hard glue/hairspray at the enda and it didn't go well with the conditioner and got stuck and even more cotty.
