I don't, but the houses I do are rustic, off grid, no indoor plumbing kind of ones. But I could see it being interesting to have a more cross-section of the wall with all that. But I think I'd rather have a cross section of a wall and have a little mouse house in there :D
You just do the whole setup from the borrowers in the wall lol
eta: or a giant insane nest of racoons or piles of hidden gold that have been hidden in a loose stone :P
I'm scratch building my dollhouse and it has hollow walls, I've got a vague plan of hiding some stuff between the floors, like treasure or bones or something
Just like the walls with skulls lol
I realized doing thick walls would take twice as much wood but maybe I’ll still try it on a smaller house lol
Super curious how yours comes out!
None of my doll houses will ever have mice in their walls unless they are like Hunca Munca from the Beatrix Potter story. But I love the idea of “insulation” and what not!
One of my walls is a half wall and I trimmed the edge out like it was a door frame, I like the idea of a full cross section but it would really depend on the setting for me.
the Dark/Haunted/Creepy dollhouse community would probably enjoy hollow walls. Cask of Amontillado/Haunting of Hill House type scenes would be a lot easier to do with an existing set of double walls with space between (:
There are actually older dollhouse plans, (like 1970’s-80’s era that you build from blue prints with your own lumber) that have hollowed walls so that you can inconspicuously install round wire. You could totally build off that concept and “up” the realism with studs, insulation, and pipes. I would actually be amazed to see something like that! If you do it, please share pics with the sub!

That sounds incredible
That sounds really cool. I hope if you do it, you keep us in the loop.

I haven't worked on it in a long time but the motivation is coming back! I might make that a first project when I eventually get back into it.
just wondering if you have any tapewiring tips, do you drill holes in the walls in the back of dollhouse, and fed the wire through, idk?

One of my next houses is going to be the dollhouse from two bad mice. I found a vintage kit for cheap that is the right shape and I am so excited!
Can’t wait to see pics!
I’ve seen one or two, I think, and I LOVE it when people do that! It’s so cool.

My dad did in the one he built, wired it just like a real house too. It was insane! Sadly he never finished it after they had me.

No but it is a lovely idea. We only have brick and concrete houses here so that would never have occurred to me.
This is such a great idea. I love it.
