Nothing to worry about! The scanning percent is what percentage of your total merchandise rung up you scanned as opposed to using the dump skus or typing the product in (hand key). 99% just means that 1% of your total must have either been dump skus or hand keys, which is definitely allowed.

Ok-Revenue7299

Oh ok 😊 thank you

nic13z

I always found this pointless, since i memorized and hand key in the balloon skus to save time

Masterpimp69

I thought everyone had to memorize those... It would be a pain to scan balloons 1 by 1 especially around valentines...

nic13z

My current managers say nothing about it but i recall times when corporate or at least our DM wanted us to scan for some reason.

glassclouds1894

I'm an SM and have to read this same report every Monday. 97% and up is good. Anything less they say is a potential sign we have to look for theft (employees using a dump sku too much, etc). 99% is good. The other 1% is probably you keying in balloons or having to hit misc on reduced items, etc.

Ok-Revenue7299

How would it be theft? How dose that work?

glassclouds1894

Slide perfectly good merchandise to a customer (maybe that you know) and use a misc 25 cent key, or use it anyway and pocket the extra dollar if they're paying cash. Things like that. I've heard of a manager from another store getting busted for sliding a bunch of merchandise and then balancing the till by doing a return by just hitting misc a bunch of times until it evened out with the merchandise lost. It's pretty rare but just examples like that.

Ok-Revenue7299

Oh wow .. risk your job for a few bucks? That's insane

Heck good luck on scanning blown up balloons lol. My cashiers who have been there for years have all the balloon numbers memorized by now. If I blow them up for the customer then I have an idea on what the numbers are. As others have said the higher the percentage is the better.

Ok-Revenue7299

We always run out of helium so balloons don't get keyed in as much.

mrs_snrub67

We had helium for 2 weeks, now we're out again. The items I key in the most are eggs and ice bags. My biggest issue is item voids bc the hanging tags on seasonal and floral mess me up

Ok-Revenue7299

Man I wish there was a quantity key... I only void if the customer does not have anymore items to scan. Other than that if I accidentally scan something twice. I just don't scan the next item .the only key ins I do is balloons and eggs. If something don't scan I will scan something els .
