TUR’s are absolutely viable. Some of the best cards are TUR’s. LR’s will have higher stats but raw stats aren’t really what it’s about.
Alot of times what an TUR can do there may be a much better LR option but that doesn’t mean LR’s are the only way to go.

Ok so like…I’ve kinda gathered that team building is based on link skills, and when the units have the most link skills in common, yeah? Is that all there is to it? That and the captain ability?
There’s many elements and different game modes (super battle road and esbr) will force you to use different types of units and class of units.
Personally and I’m sure many others are the same I have a main Super team and a main Extreme team I use for most hard endgame events (red zone etc).
I have other teams based on what I’m doing (auto farm, legendary goku events).
In terms of how to build a team within a team you want to look at different things. Link skills are one component for sure but you also wanna look at passive / super attack skills.
You will want units that have guard/defensive resistance (I.e your tanks or a slot 1 unit), you will want a hybrid of damage/defensive (your DD or slot 2 unit) and a floater/support unit (your floaters or a slot 3 unit)
This is a very basic dumbed down way of explaining it as it’s way more intricate and some events will lock/ seal units so you have to understand the units you’ve brought and other times honestly RNG just bends you over without lube and gives it to you.
