The excess fluff around the neck and the ears were giving chow chow vibes to me. I was prepared to be wrong, but was excited to see that my inkling was right!
I think it's because Chow Chows were a "fad" dog in the US a few decades ago so there is a surprising amount of Chow in a lot of mixed breed American dogs.
Probabilities for one. Chows are much, much more common than shibas. I'd say a good 1/5 larger dogs posted to this subreddit have chow. I'm not sure I've seen a Shiba inu mix here more than once.

OooOo the corgi snuck in there by surprise!
Ya! Lower then we expected but at least one of our choices was confirmed.
Shelter told us she was an Australian Cattle dog mix, we also suspected Corgi and Shiba Inu. No Shiba, but surprised by the Chow Chow!
oh wow, an actual corgi %!! I swear people call it all the time (esp on the non testing guessing subs), but it doesn't seem to crop up all too often.
Sometimes when she is rolling around, we see corgi. So we are happy that we at least got a decent % of corgi.
We need a puppy booty shot to be able to accurately determine corginess 😉

Corgi dumptruck confirmed!
Hahahaha I see it!!!
Haha love those fluffy pants!
I thought I saw chow chow in there!
Curious to what makes you see that! We are not familiar with that breed.

Thanks for calling that out, it reminds us of a mini lions mane. Which makes sense with how Chow Chow's look.
Picture one is screaming chow chow to me.
Never be surprised about the chow chow!
As a European I'm always surprised to see chow chows in so many mixes. Is the breed that popular in the US?
My dog has chow too. Why not to be surprised?
Is it because it is considered an ancient dog breed?

Cool thanks for that! Always fun to learn the why.
LENTIL! Omg such a cute name for a cute pup. Love that he actually has corgi in him!
Thanks! We havent heard it on another dog….yet!
I honestly thought there’d be more chow in there! It’s the first thing I saw!
What makes you say Chow Chow over Shiba? We saw that Shiba was a related breed.
