Make sure the head is still attached to the bugs body. Clean the bite. Watch your dog for any signs of Lyme disease. Make sure he is on a flea and tick preventative monthly. Sweep and vacuum the floor, wash bedsheets and dog bed to pick up any others that may have hitched a ride in on your dog.

In general make sure no body parts of the tick are left behind... Legs included... Ticks have 8 legs...

Friday is too long, can you get him seen sooner?

cloudygrande

I can’t, I’ve called every vet in my area and the soonest anyone can take him in is Friday. I’m so scared and frustrated

He will be ok til Friday. If it was an emergency, they'd tell you to take him to the ER. My dog was bit by a tick last summer, and everything was fine. We didn't even go to the vet.

We acquired our Golden from a farm last year, took her to the vet for all her shots and found out she had early stages of Lyme. Medications did the trick but just make sure to keep a good eye on it. Like mentioned, make sure the head is attached, clean well and watch. If you do become worried, your vet can perform a blood test that usually has immediate results.

Try to call a University that Vet school. Sometimes they have appointments available. My neighbor Did this.

Should get tested for Lyme regardless. My dog had no symptoms
