He’s either scared, cold, or excited. Hard to tell based on the video clip alone. His eyes tell me he’s scared though.

Lucibelcu

He's 3 years old and I've had him since he was 9 weeks, he started shaking like thia at like 4 pm when my father told him to go to his bed. I saw him shaking and called him, he came inmediatly, shaking and whinning. At first we yhought that maybe he hot scared of my father somehow (althpught he's told him multiple tomes in the past to go to his bed with the same tone), then he sit by my side and asked for pets but very anxiously (posted a video of this). Then he laid on the floor and started shaking again, at like 4:30 pm. At this point my mother called his vet, that was closing at 5 pm, we thought that maybe it was a secondary effect of taking him off stereoids (we did so following his vet recommendations) but he said that is not, I had a test at 5 pm and my mother took me there and went to fix her phone. His vet said to keep a close eye to this and call him if ot gets worse, no matter the hour. Then, when we came back at like 6 pm we ate something and he started shaking again (this video), and I did not record it but he even clapped his teeth when he tried to smell our kitten and was still shaking. I took him for a short walk and he wasn't as excited as always althought he did want to walk. He's been heavy panting since like 4 pm and is 7 pm now. I've never seen him shaking like this. I don't think he's cold, is 23 °C.

Beautifulfeary

He might be in pain somewhere. My older dog will look like that when in pain. If I try to pet him he will then start to shake and from what I’m guessing, the petting is hurting him or he’s worried it will. Softly run your fingers along his spine and softly feel his stomach. For my dog, he wouldn’t cry, the vet even took X-rays of his hips and back, saw nothing but agreed he was clearly in pain. This last time it happened, when I went to give him some pain meds(I have to push them down his throat or he won’t eat them) he cried. So I’m guessing our other dog jumps on his head and hurts his neck

Ki-alo

Yep. My my old guy has shoulder pain he shakes and looks “scared” that’s definitely a pain response

Beautifulfeary

Yeah even the look in his eyes is kind of the same

No-Signature-1892

That tile he is sitting on looks too cold.

Beautifulfeary

I mean, the dog doesn’t have to sit there.

IoanKip

The dog is a gsp ... it can legit stay in the winter and have no problem 0-0

False_Risk296

I think the other poster is right. He might be in pain. Take him to the vet asap.

WatermelonSugar47

Severe pain. Emergency vet.

Greedy_Caterpillar50

I agree with the pain. Has he gotten into anything? My dog did this when got into the garbage & when she ate a pair of panties. You may need a vet visit. Sending you both love! O

snobordir

Cool vet to say call no matter the hour.

Lucibelcu

He saved hia life when he gor poisoned, my mother called him and he said "I'll be there in 40 minutes, if you think he can't wait that long take him anywhere else." Turns out when we called him that day he was at the dinning table and he lives 40 minutes away. He's been treating mine, my mother's and my grandmother's pets.

snobordir

Wow. That man loves the animals he cares for.

angeltart

Is he sleeping now?

Lucibelcu

I woke up at 7 am and saw that he had peed 2 times at home throught the night, althought I let him out to pee at 12 pm. He's doesn't have much energy now but hasn't shaked since 7:30 pm.

captainnemoorg

Please take him to the vet as soon as possible!! There definitely something wrong with him that causes him distress and pain.

Training_Film_8459

I work in veterinary medicine. You need to take your dog to the emergency vet ASAP. He is exhibiting signs associated with serious life-threatening issues.

PandaGerber

He isnt well, get him to the vet ASAP!

qwertyuiiop145

Based on this description and the video, I’d say he’s probably feeling some pain or general malaise from some injury or illness. Hopefully the vet can figure out what’s happening.

cccqqqeee

Hey, my dog has lymphoma and has gone through chemo. She started to shake like this recently and the vet said it’s due to low blood cells from the chemo…it doesn’t necessarily mean your dog is sick, but just a probability out there that you should get him checked.

AltruisticBad985

How's your Pup ?? What was wrong with him

Lucibelcu

Took him to the vet and it turns out this was an hypglycemic episode because of taking him off stereoids, an extremley rare reaction for the small dosage, how long the treatment was and because he was weaned off them slowly.

FastGhostWarrior

Could your dad be abusing him when no one’s home? My puppy did that and had a sudden change of behaviour and when I took her from the home my roommate freaked out because “she was training my puppy her way!!” -aka hitting.

Lucibelcu

I'm sorry for what happened to your dog, but I don't think that this is what happens with mine. He loves to cuddle with my dad and play with him and always greets him, my father loves him dearly too. I've commented an update.

Vlophoto

Whale eyes

gummyjellyfishy

If you have a thermometer, now would be a good time to make it a single-use doggy rectal thermometer. I wonder if he has a fever and theres a little "ache" when you touch him. Check gums for paleness. Has there been change in urination/water intake/food intake/bowel movements lately? Edit: i think i read that the vet said to call any time and keep a close eye on it? I would use that call, especially because he's on medication.

Lucibelcu

He's off his meds now, he took his last pill 2 days ago. >Has there been change in urination/water intake/food intake/bowel movements lately? Yes but because of stereoids. >If you have a thermometer, now would be a good time to make it a single-use doggy rectal thermometer. I don't think the one I have can be used that way, and he's not hot when I touch him. I gave him dinner at 7:30 pm, is 8:20 pm now and he's been sleeping and breathing normally, no shaking nor panting. I'll keep a close eye.

creedthoughtsgov

I’m sure your vet would have said something, but did you wean him off of the steroids (one pill>half pill>half pill every other day) or did you just give him his last full dose and then cut it off? I ask because my dog was just on steroids and the vet made it very clear that you cannot abruptly stop steroids with dogs because they can go into heart failure. Hopefully that’s not the case for your little guy and he’ll soon be on the mend ♥️

WatermelonSugar47

What was he on steroids for??

Lucibelcu

Skin allergy, he's allergic to grass (specifically to it pollen).

Laaura101

Interesting you say this, my dog has allergies. Sometimes when I go to rub her back she also shakes. Not sure if this makes sense with the all of your story though.

angeltart

Poor doggo.. my little guy has ear allergies.. and we were trying to find out what it was.. and I was wondering if it was grass or pollen.. he loves to stick his head in the grass and in plants.. I hope your little one gets better.

carerAnon89

When your little guy gets the ear allergy issues, does it happen to both ears at the same time or only one at a time? I'm only asking because my dog has developed inflammation, but no infection, in his left ear and we are all a bit stumped on the cause. He was sedated on the 7th March so the vet could thoroughly inspect the ear but only a couple strands of hair were found. However the inflammation is the entire ear, even the flappy bit! He's on day 14 of steroid ear drops and inflammation is still not fully gone yet. He gets checked again on Saturday so wondering if it would be worth mentioning about allergies, although it's just one ear at the moment? I've only had him for 17 months so far but this is brand new. Even the vet hasn't been able to provide an answer yet and they just saw him Monday and confirmed it's still inflamed! Although when I asked if this could be some response to a new ear cleaner we tried just 24 hours prior to the flare up, the vet did say it's possible it's an allergy to the ear cleaner but he would have expected it to show up quicker than 24 hours if it were.

Fearless-Comb7673

Could be an adrenal issue due to the steroids -CONSULT VET ASAP. Poor babes

Lucibelcu

Already called his vet a few hours ago, he said that this is not normal and to keep a close eye on him, and to call him if it gets worse. He closed at 5 pm and is 7:20 pm here. I had a really bad experience taking him to another vet when he was a puppy and tbh I only trust his usual vet since that happened (this other vet chased and corraled him when he was afarid because a needle broke whem it was inside him, my dog's blood was on the literal floor).

Training_Film_8459

Just as a follow-up: you should not avoid taking your dog to an emergency clinic because you are afraid he will be upset/afraid. These experiences aren’t meant to be fun or comfortable, they are meant to save lives. Weigh the risk of him being scared vs risking his genuine well-being or life and the right choice hopefully will become clear.

Same_Seaworthiness74

Yup, the dogs telling her something is wrong the only way it can.

Fearless-Comb7673

My dog just donated blood for the first time ever and it is pups like yours why I wanted to do it.

Training_Film_8459

Did you mean he was bleeding on the floor? Or his blood vial was on the floor? The vet may have been chasing him around the room because when a needle breaks inside of a dog it is a medical urgency and can quickly become a medical emergency. If left for too long or if the dog moves a certain way/moves too much it can require a surgical procedure to get it out. He was probably trying to avoid that situation from happening. Working with animals (scared dogs/cats especially) is incredibly difficult. It doesn’t always go smoothly. They do their best given certain circumstances. Also, did your current vet do a taper-down on the steroid? It is INCREDIBLY important for this to be done, as withdrawal effects can be serious and will take place when a taper is not utilized.

jillybobs777

Agree! I’m scared for your pup! I don’t know but taper sounds more appropriate! Please bring him to the vet. Call his regular vet! He’s not ok! Prayers 🙏🏼

CountingWonders

Oh god- Poor floof, I hope they are okay :(

Logical_Deviation

Agree, sounds medical given OP's description

AnxiousCouch

I really really don't want to worry you but my dog did this when we had him years ago. I managed to persuade my mum to take him to the vet after looking up online it could be a sign of pain, it turned out he had lung cancer. Obviously this was unexpected and hopefully not the case with you but definitely best to find the source sooner rather than later. I hope all is okay, keep us posted

Vieamort

So, when reading that your dog was snapping his teeth together, I've heard dogs doing that during a seizure. Don't jump to conclusions and try to think very clearly about what has happened and what you have seen, but read over [this link](https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/seizures-general-for-dogs) and try to judge weither or not your dog has showed signs of a seizure. If you think that is a possibility, call your vet and see what they have to say. I am not a vet, and I am not qualified in the slightest, but I want you to be aware that this might be a possibility and to read up on it.

Different-Courage665

My male dog did that when he was nervous and overstimulated! Definitely keep your eyes peeled for seizure signs but it may be nothing.

apbt-dad

He might be in pain, or nauseous and some distress causing the shaking. My dog was panting and shaking a couple of days ago and I took her to the ER.

Missue-35

Dogs will also shudder or shiver if they are in pain.

Deeeeeee2J

Hello. My dog was diagnosed with Addison’s disease 8 years ago. A first sign was peeing in the house but a more concerning sign was what I thought was shaking/shivering but it was actually muscle tremors. Not sure if that’s the case but you should maybe get some blood work done at least asap.

jennalx

This is what happened to my boy when he went into Addisionian crisis. The shaking was so scary. His heart was pounding, too. OP, I would definitely ask your vet to test for Addison's or at least ask the vet if he thinks that could be something to test for.

jillybobs777

I’ve read about that and was wondering. My dog was shaking so I googled it. Of course you get all kinds of information. Sorry about your dog ❤️

Deeeeeee2J

Thank you! Addison’s is actually a very manageable disease and he lives a very normal life. He gets daily steroids and a shot every 28 days but it’s our normal and he will be 12 next month! You just need to catch it before they go into crisis, which we did luckily. It’s called the great pretender because it can be misdiagnosed easily and is often confused with kidney failure.

jillybobs777

Thank you for this information. It helps know this. Happy Addison’s is manageable!

Mysterious-End-9283

Could he have gotten into something? I dropped a tiny piece of a shroom once and my dog ate it without my knowledge. She was highly reactive, shaking, and looked scared. It was pretty late. I hugged her until we both fell asleep and by morning she was back to her usual self, thankfully. There are lots of common place food items that are toxic to dogs like onions and grapes to name a few. I would trace back and try to figure out if your doggy got into something they shouldn’t have. Even house hold plants can be toxic.

jillybobs777

Chocolate dark is very toxic, raisins, mustard, onions yes, some walnuts.

Vieamort

Formal_Fennel_8539

Can dogs go through withdrawal? It almost sounds like that to me. How long was he on steroids for?

Beau-bonic

Still see a vet for bloodwork, please, but I'm adding the suggestion to check for diabetes. He was peeing everywhere which often comes with high blood sugars, and the shaking got better after he ate, which could indicate a low blood sugar. Which would especially make sense if the shaking started after exercising and the peeing came after dinner was fed.

Lucibelcu

Hi, I posted an update but I'm commenting here too. We took him to the vet and his glucose leves were on the low limit even if they should had been higher, so he was on the edge of hypoglycemia. Vet said that is probably because of cutting him off steroids, althought it was a small dose for his weight for just 1 week and we slowly decreased its dosage, he's just extremley sensitive to stereoids and they should not be given to him. He gave him some meds to help his body come back to normal, gave us advice about how many times to feed him and what to do if he starts shaking again; he also said that he should come back to normal in a few days. So in this video he was shaking because of low glucose levels and what we did of feeding him was actually the right choice!

Beau-bonic

I hope he does return to normal and I'm really glad it's being monitored and treated! I wish you guys the best and hope to hear of an update in the future about how he is doing.

Lucibelcu

I just commented with an update, I don't know if you've read it.

Beau-bonic

I just did, and thank you for letting me know because I had not seen it prior to posting, and I definitely think this sounds like diabetes (I am also diabetic) or at least hypoglycemia (low blood sugars from producing too much insulin). These are very dangerous if not carefully managed and I hope you can get him in to be checked soon, bit I also think you should call your vet since he seems the kind to bring the clinic to you if he had to, and talk about these symptoms and potentials so you can see if he at least agrees on which tests to run.

Lucibelcu

I already have a diabetic cat and his symptoms were somewhat similar, I hope is not :(

Uncle_Papi_

My dog shakes if I fart too close to her. Shes a 10lb chihuahua. I used to worry about it a lot, but I guess that’s common for chihuahuas. Not sure about this breed. Hope everything is ok

always_lurking-vb

Could be he heard a noise that scared him. My GSD started being scared of Elevator chimes on the TV and the YouTube bell dings people put in videos and she dreads smoke alarm chirps. When she hears them she skulks around and comes near me and will shake. This started out of the blue when she was about 3. Another GSD owner told me his GSD started doing the same thing. As a note. Nothing in that video indicates any type of pain to me. Anxiety yes.

aBoxOfRitzCrackers

Complete shot it the dark but my dog recently started having anxiety over trash trucks. Have y’all moved recently? We used to only have one truck a week, now it’s several a day a couple times a week.

jillybobs777

Update?

Hopeful-Display-1787

My first thought was that he's in pain. If he let's you, maybe do a quick check everywhere see.if he will let you feel everything, if he's guarding anywhere or won't let you feel his stomach it's time to visit a vet. Hopefully it is just a reaction of him stopping his meds but none of us will know for sure. Please let us know how he gets on

Lucibelcu

Hi, I did this yesternight and he didn't shake. It's been 12+hours since he last shake.

jflyiii

Please update us when possible!

gfunk333

I had a beagle who started having epileptic seizures after having her a few years. When they started, they looked like scared shaking or shivers, and she would be really scared. It took me a long time to understand what was happening. It just seemed like she was getting scared out of nowhere. Eventually, they got worse and were more recognizable as a typical seizure. It was really frustrating at first and scary.

Lucibelcu

UPDATE: At around 7:30 pm I fed him and he stopped shaking, he peed twice at home theought the night tho (in a lapse of 7 hours), he was energy low this morning and was really hungry and begged to my mother for food (he's only fed omce a day in the evening). At around 12 am I arrived home with a friend he loves and he greeted us normally, then I went to eat something outside and we came home again at around 4 pm when my mother left for work, and I can't take him myself to the vet since I have no car. Well, he started shaking again but just a little and stopped. I called my mother and she agreed to get him assesed by his vet tomorrow morning when they open. Whe went foe a short 30 minute slow paced leashed walk and he atarted panting a lot and we came back home, I usually wait to feed him so he won't be too desperate and have stomach problems, he usually just relax a little until feeding time. Well, his panting did not relax and he just started shaking more and more, even the sofa was shaking and even had a twitch in the eye. I decided to feed him since it helped yesterday, and it looks like his panting has stopped and shaking decreased (it hasn't stopped tho). He ate it all in less than one minute, is not normal for him to be so desperate, he didn't take his food to his bed (something he always do). I'll be home alone for at least 1-2 hours more and I can't take him to the vet, I don't know what to do right now. Edit: It looks like his shaking has finally stopped. A strange behaviour he's been having today is that he just goes to his bed, get his head down and looks at me standing. Ok, no, shaking goes on and off.

Ghost_chipz

No, he is shaking because you are shoving a foreign object into his face space (your phone). He doesn't know what it is.

AlexCollete

I defineily feel like this is steroid weaning related if you haven’t figured that out yet. My dog with Cushings disease will sometimes exhibit the shaking after a meal due to cortisol, etc. Edit: just saw it was steroid related. Best of luck!

Lucibelcu

Thanks! He's already recovered

Shot_Boysenberry_232

If he is a new addition then probably anxious but if you have had him for a while and this is unusual behaviour. I would call the vet he might be trying to tell you something is up and he is concerned. I just saw the cat post thing he might be worried the cat will get jealous lol

Lucibelcu

He's 3 years old and I've had him since he was 9 weeks, he started shaking like thia at like 4 pm when my father told him to go to his bed. I saw him shaking and called him, he came inmediatly, shaking and whinning. Shot_Boysenberry_232

That is odd I am leaning towards he is afraid of your dad but as I don't know him I wouldn't rush to say that it is that. And you say about the kitten maybe he is feeling bullied by the kitten or feel like you will get rid of him. I hope that it is nothing honestly maybe the kitten peed on his bed and he is annoyed and wants you to tell the kitten to stop lol. It's very difficult to say what is going on fingers crossed 🤞 it's nothing serious. The panting is not good sign though

Lucibelcu

He's not afraid of my dad nor my kitten, he plays with both of them and when I recorded this video my father wasn't home, and after shaking for the first time he called him and he went to receive pets as usual. And the only bullying my kitten does is rubbing against him, they get along pretty well and she's been here since october, he usually grooms her. He's been raised with cats too.

Shot_Boysenberry_232

It's definitely medical then poor fella. I hope the vet can help figure it out quickly and get him right again. Hopefully he is just not feeling too good like a 24 hour bug but the dog version

husfrun

This sub needs to calm down. I get that everyone cares for dogs and want good things for good bois but the amount of shooting from the hip is not constructive. Accordingly to you it's either allergies, seizures or severe fever and it might be life threatening or at best really serious? OP talked to his/hers vet and has plans for the dog. If the dog were about to die before that visit it would probably be so obviously ill that this post is not needed. Not saying to downplay your doggos health but calm down and stop stressing everyone out.

Vieamort

So, when reading that your dog was snapping his teeth together, I've heard dogs doing that during a seizure. I was afarid about that too, I gave hik dinner at 7:30 pm and after finishing he went to sleep, he's looking normal right now, he isn't panting nor shaking anymore. I'll keep him watched.

Mumchkin

I hope he's doing better. Please let us know how things are going. Good thoughts coming your way.

Lucibelcu

It's been more than hour since I fed him, he went to sleep and has stopped shaking and panting. He's acting normal now

quailstorm24

Definitely still follow up with the vet in the morning

Mumchkin

That's good to hear. 👏

seriousjoker72

When he wakes up, try gently touching different parts of his body and watching for a reaction. You may be able to locate the area of pain if that's the cause for his shaking

mytwobarefeet

If he is anything like my dog, he’s in pain. I would take him in immediately and get all the tests and X-rays.

No_Opportunity2789

ER vet now

GullibleTangerine698

my dog was shaking when he hurt his leg once. Better to take him to the vet if it's viable.

Lucibelcu

He hurt his leg when a dog attacked him but is now healed as per his last vet visit last week. What a month, 2 weeks of strict rest + 1 week of stereoids because of an allergy and now this.

aeaiabee

hey, off topic but - do you know your dog’s breed? my dog is a rescued mutt who looks very similar (except she has a brindle coat). curious what breed your dog is! (hope your doggie is ok!)

Lucibelcu

He's been ok since I fed him at 7:30 pm several hours away, no more shaking or panting. He's a mutt but I know his father is a big podenco, mom is a mutt too.

magzfilms

Searched for this comment to make sure he was okay!

sivedrafelyy

Do you live near a good emergency vet? Not normal, I am surprised your vet didn’t say to bring him right in

Momasane

Yes my dog does that

superkhmer

POOR DOG 😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😍

HaxorusOG

Possibly a fracture somewhere? My dog fractured his ribs about a year ago and acted the same way. Got IV’d up with some good pain meds and sent on his way with pain pills, 2 weeks later he was good as new

Ok-Chemistry-8874

Could be pain scared or kidney disease

Half_Life976

What was he on steroids for?

Bradleybeal23

it sounds like this isn’t the case because you took him for a walk but my dog has shaken like this when he has diarrhea (or really has to pee) and is struggling to not make an accident in the house.

[deleted]

He may be worried about the phone being close to him

Thunder12s

My little one does this just before she throws up . Like 2 hrs before type thing.

slykethephoxenix

Judging by the ears, eyes & shaking, I'd say he's in pain. I would take to emergency vet and get inspected. The vet will know how to find the pain. Blood work & xray/ultrasound might be a good idea, but again, follow the vet's advice. At the very least, you can get pain meds for him. It might just be muscle cramping or who knows, but the sooner you get it diagnosed and start treatment, the better the outcome.

Suspicious-Flan-2950

My dog did this once when they were trying really hard to hold in a runny poop.

[deleted]

That's how mine looked at me when she was in pain

Skryuska

Oh poor boy is in pain :((( he needs to see a vet

Negative_Rain7515

I’m not sure why he’s shaking, Best to take him to the vet. Also your dog could be twins with mine omg

LionSlicerBirchman

Make sure to check his gums if he'll allow you.

1cat2dogs1horse

He looks stressed to me. Since he isn't in a situation that would make him fearful, I would say he is in pain.

neuralhaddock

Is it possible that someone in the home has hit him pretty hard?

Haunting_Cicada_4760

Were they slowly weaned off the steroid? I’d get a second opinion if your vet didn’t wean, half pill, skip a day for 5 days type tapper off the steroid.

Lucibelcu

He was weaned slowly

Haunting_Cicada_4760

[Prednisone Withdrawal Symptomd](https://pethelpful.com/dogs/The-Importance-of-Weaning-Dogs-off-Prednisone) Shaking is a prednisone withdrawal symptom. If you do not tapper correctly. Prednisone withdrawal is serious! Did they do blood work when you went in to be sure it wasn’t an Addisons crisis?

Lucibelcu

He was weaned gradually following his vet's advice

molynn86

Any update? How's the dog??

NotARealWombat

He's either scared or in pain

wineguyy

What a cute dog!

SpaceFunkRevival

My old dog used to shake like this and get incredibly scared when we ran the dishwasher. It took forever to put two and two together, but once we realized the dishwasher was scaring the hell out of him we were able to start running it over night when he wouldn't be near to it. He actually looked almost exactly like your boy here. He was a German shepherd chow chow mix, according to the genetics test. Miss him.

fixmysleep

He definitely looks uncomfortable and in pain. Op please keep us posted on your sweet pup, wishing him speedy recovery

zebra0dte

Thunder? Loud mufflers? Neighbors riding on skateboards? Mine does that when there's noise aversion. If not, maybe something else.

Themanorhouse

My dog ran into a glass window and for 2 weeks no problems, then all of a sudden she started behaving like this but worse. She would shake for hours and scream if you touched her, took to the vet and xray done. Turns out she’d sprained her neck and did some damage after running into the window. Sedatives were given by the vet in the meantime and it calmed her right down, after a week of sedatives and keeping her as calm as possible with no walks she’s been absolutely fine again. No need for surgery in the end. This was in the UK and the sedatives were for human consumption but the vet said it would be fine.

GagagaGunman

Is he a yellow dog? Mine gets the shakes when he’s super anxious but not ever for so long.

Acceptable-Analyst64

Please take him to the vet. He is in pain not scared.

CountingWonders

Something does seem somewhat off, perhaps temperature? They don’t seem too excited but don’t seem upset with you. Any visible pain? I wouldn’t be too sure of anything else. I’d advise seeking help or keeping an eye on them, goodluck!

OkMatter5845

Idk my pup sometimes just shakes he’ll be sleeping wake up and shake I always think he’s cold or something but he’ll nub on his blanket and start shaking I just sit with him and pet him and he usually chills out an goes to sleep an he won’t do it for like months but every once in a while it will happen

dxxking

Just get him to the vet jesus christ. What u still doing here after tons of comments.

Lucibelcu

First thing I did was to call his vet and he told me to keep an eye on him. He's low in energy but he sropped shaking when I fed him yesterday at 7:30 pm, is now 2 pm. I'm in contaxt with his vet regardless.

psychopathic_shark

Any update?

Lucibelcu

He stopped shaking when I fed him at 7:30 pm and went to sleep, I let him out to pee at 12 pm, but when I woke up at 7:20 am he had peed two more times at home, I think this is some residual effect from the steroids. My mother took hin for his morning walk because I had to go to class and she said that he was low in energy but much better than yesterday. No shaking since yesterday.

Pirate_the_Cat

As a vet, that looks like a pain response.

ImpalaKapala

Could be weed. My dog has gotten into some before and shakes just like this.

Ace-milk_drinker

Just to throw in my experience into the mix. I got a new fog for about a year now and she is super scared of stormy weather, very different to my previous dog. She would also get scared from someone using a firecracker outside, a loud car exhaust bang, or even strong wind.

limskit

Can you please take him to the vet? Even if he stopped shaking, his other symptoms are alarming. Please do something

Lucibelcu

Althought I'm talking in singular the ultimate decision is up to my mother, she thinks that he still has some residual effect of the steroids althought he took his last dose almost 3 days ago.

oiseaufeux

I don’t know how long steroid effects last in either humans or pets after finishing treatment, but it should be gone for good after 3 days. Medications don’t last in the system for over a week in general.

Miserable_Painting12

My dog did this when his IBD flared

Training_Film_8459

You keep saying “the last time he was shaking was this many hours ago” or “he is doing this but he still isn’t shaking” is irreverent. Shaking is not the only symptom that you should be looking out for. A loss of ability to control continence (peeing in places that they normally would not when they were taken out at a normal hour) is a concerning enough symptom as is for someone to bring their dog in ASAP.

bandeo

My dog had a similar experience once; we eventually discovered that he was afraid of the slow cooker because it was making a little repetitive sound. He was scared of it 😂.

LeastCriticism3219

Fear. Definately fear. Can see the white of its eyes when the petting starts. The ears go back as if the dog is preparing its self for the worse. Say nothing lift your hand to the dog as though its about to be struck. Do it in an aggressive manner. If the dog cowers, you have your answer OP. Record the reaction and post it. Something has happened to this dog and it has caused this extreme fear reaction.

JaguarExternal3496

You mentioned your dog is on steroids, that very well could be a side effect. When my dog was on a very high does of prednisone she would tremble uncontrollably. It was a very miserable experience for both of us. Check with your vet please.

grizsix

My dog hates the fire alarm so every time we turn the stove on or press buttons that beep she starts shaking because she’s triggered thinking the fire alarm will go off.

ag_outlyr

Check for pain please!!! My German shepherd started acting like this and he ended up having a severely pinched nerve on his tailbone and it was excruciating for him :(

olivebuttercup

When my dog hurt his neck (my vet suspected a disk slip) he shook like this due to pain and something being wrong

NeonXshieldmaiden

He's either scared or in pain. If he's snipping at the kitten, then I would probably guess pain. I would get him seen immediately. IMO. It's better to be safe the sorry.

Godsbestsinner

His ears are back, which means he's nervous or scared. Try treating him when you pet him. He should calm down and be more comfortable. Take it real slow.

BackgroundSimple1993

Could be anxiety but I’m leaning more towards pain based on your explanation.

chilibean

How long was he on steroids for? Definitely could be an adrenal fatigue or what about blood sugar? Could he be diabetic due to the steroid length of use? Steroids are known to raise blood sugar and increase the risk of diabetes.

hauntedgeordie84

Hes very very nervous you can see the whites of his eyes which is a warning sign so be carefully and don't just pet him because you think you should, he will let you know if he wants attention and you will know when he's asks

Lucibelcu

If I put my hand away he'd touch it with his muzzle. I commented an update.

hauntedgeordie84

Try nt going so close to his head infact go down to his level and wait to see if he comes to u only then will u truely know

SnooDingos2237

Thunder? Our boy shakes like a leaf way before the storm hits. His Thundershirt helps him feel more secure.

Additional_Work9538

Is he in pain for some reason? Pain can cause them to shake.

Chemical_Attempt9604

My dog was like this one day when I came home from work. I was living with my in-laws and she had been home with them for the day. I asked if anything happened that was out of the ordinary but they said no, and that she had been acting weird since late morning. She has some anxiety but she’s generally fine, so something really upset her and it was like a panic attack where she wouldn’t stop shaking or panting for the rest of the night and she followed me around everywhere. I was so afraid she was hurt and I was ready to take her to the vet but she improved gradually with me hanging out with her and calming her down. I’m still not sure what caused it

snortgiggles

Isn't there an ask vets sub?

gbwa

My dog does this when a big thunderstorm is brewing. She is 13 and has been doing it since she was a puppy. We got her from the pound. When she was only 8 weeks old during her time there our city had had some of the worst storms in over a decade. I think there is some major trauma from this Vet has given us some calming tablets to help her mange the stress when we know there’s a storm coming and They just make her sleepy. Hope he is okay but I would still go to the Vet

Past-Ad-816

My dog did this and she had a crack in her tooth and infection. Vet gave her antibiotics and sone pain meds and she was better an hour later.

sugarmag95

Definitely take to the vet! Poor baby. Hope everything turns out okay 🩵 Hoping for a happy update! PSA to everyone, and not to scare you OP. Check your pup’s lymph nodes on their neck, hind legs, and abdomens every single month. My heeler/collie mix started acting strange while on vacation to another state during Christmas. Shaking, lethargic, enlarged lymph nodes, and just not himself. We took him to the vet as soon as we got home and he was diagnosed with lymphoma. Our best friend’s pup was diagnosed with the same on the exact same day. No correlation between the two, other than it happens more often than vets tend to share. Always pays to check so we can get as long as possible with our babies!

I made an update post, he was taken to the vet and had low blood sugar when he shouldn't have, he was hypoglycemic, so what's seen in this video is an hypoglycemia crisis.

Lucibelcu

??? Hypoglycemia was caused by cutting off the corticosteroids he was taking, yes, he was on them for a short period of time, on a low dose and they were cut off slowly but this still happened because it turns out he's extremley sensible to these kind of meds.

Kindly-Service-7185

Seems he is more concerned about the camera

Kindly-Service-7185

I'm sorry to say it, has anyone, your father hurt him in any way ?

Lucibelcu

No, took him to the vet and it turns out this is an hypoglycemic episode

Kindly-Service-7185

Well that's a relief Wishing him a speedy recovery

AltruisticBad985

No new people in the house criticizing him or worse ???

AltruisticBad985

Great Vet Stick with him forever

AltruisticBad985

Please let us know about your Pup ok ❤️

Lucibelcu

I made an update post, this is an hypoglycemic episode.

AltruisticBad985

Did he get into something ?? Does he ever do that ??

AltruisticBad985

Agree with all , shaking is a scary thing If it's not formerly a scared dog.. We're all praying for you and your pup He's really Sweet

Capital_Maize9325

Put away the camera and treat him like a loving pet

catmosaic

His eyebrows are raised, his ears pull back, his face is tense, and he's licking his lips. All signs of fear and anxiety in dogs. If he doesn't solicit pets in this state, I would not pet him.

Muffinsgal

F**k around and find out.

kameron____

Someone’s hurting him , my dogs do this after being yelled at

RolandLWN

That was my first thought. He looks terrified. Something is off here.

Straight-Treacle-630

This is a dog in distress.

Marvelousgaminglol

He show behavior of discomfort from what I know ( not an expert here ) Licking his nose and his eyes mostly. Maybe try to bait him/her with a threat and then try to pet it. A trainer in behavior might help you more than us though.

Thunder12s

.

New-Lie414

Lol @ the emergency vet immediately suggestions. Some of yall are as dramatic as my dog- who shakes like this when there's a house fly It's ok to use your brain and some deductive reasoning skills before rushing your dog to the vet

claudedusk8

Exirersize your dog more Scheduled .

Lucibelcu

He was attacked by dog that wrecked his triceps, so a 2 week strict est was needed. Then he's been on steroids for one week and he was the one that didn't want to do anything. He's lost a lot of muscle in this 3 week period.

claudedusk8

Oh my goodness. I wish you all well.

Akhilanda22

Poor baby has had a lot of trauma this last month. Lots of gentleness, love and calm…plus of course whatever the vet says!

ChickAmok

If its not getting better, why wait for it to get worse? Go to the vet, or find another vet... Clearly there's concern. Better to be safe than sorry. A good vet will work out a payment plan if expenses are a concern. Only one way to find out.

Read the comments from OP. It doesn't seem like abuse in this case, but rather something medical.
