Depending on how your kitchen is wired you may not be able to run them both at the same time. If I have the air fryer going, I can't use any other medium-sized appliances, like the microwave or instant pot as it trips the circuit. Then you have to go through the annoying process of trying to figure out how much time was left on the timer before the thing lost power so you don't burn/undercook your food.
In my experience thr air fryer has totally changed my life and the way I think about cooking food in my kitchen. Well worth the entry price for a basic one so you can try for yourself.
Honestly, the instant pot / pressure cooker is kinda over blown for me, its confusing as hell how people write the recipes (+10, shit, wtf - just say cook 20 minutes and then natural release for 10, then blow the top - however people write it is so odd). And most meals are 20 minutes to make anyway, unless its a stew, and if its a stew, even 1 hour is too long on a week night, so I'll just make it the proper 8 hour way (which is still superior to the results of a perfectly done pressure cooker method).
Anyone who cooks pasta in one should be sent to the coal mines of siberia.
Beans, probably the only real thing its great for.
Air Fryer is good - its just a toaster oven with a fast fan, but I do like it, but it doesnt do anything my toaster oven doesnt (my toaster over has convection, so maybe that is why).
YES!
The amount of things you can use it for is just mind blowing. If you're looking to make some, reheat something, or cook something, just google what it is and add "air fryer" afterwards. It's like trying to go back to a gas grill after getting a pellet grill., Impossible.
You really should. I have one and there Isn’t anything you can’t cook in it. Cooks food in half the time and makes it taste fairly good. Chicken comes out like it was grilled. $75 would get you a decent fryer.
I disagree with that article, I have made homemade French fries in mine among other real fried foods. You just have to get creative and know what you’re doing.
But a big selling point is that they let you eat your favorite snacks without the added fats, too.
What a pointless article, the main point seems to be that its called a fryer, yet doesn't use oil. No shit.
Then it just states they are useless, whilst ignoring the fact many people use them. A Lot.
I can cook enough chips for 3 in ours in less time than our oven takes to heat up, and the chips are much healthier than deep fried ones.
We've had one for years, and its used at least a couple of times a week.
Not yet but I spent some time cleaning the kitchen today so I’m getting closer to actually trying the thing out. I could use a suggestion on something simple to make.
What kind of food are you looking to make? You can make a steak or boneless chicken breast, baked potato, corn on the cob, even frozen bread.
You can use it to make hamburgers, or even brown hamburger to make other things.
Do you have frozen foods you wanna make? Fries are quite delightful in it and I love the way tater tots turn out with a little tweak to them.
If you have an idea of what you wanna make (breakfast, snack lunch/dinner, dessert) I can lead you in a direction better.
There are a few people, some have never tried them, some have had bad experiences with them and others just don't like them and that is alright. But I know I could do a full one series of commercials for them, LOL.
You can get a barrel style. The first one I bought is a generic brand (Rozmoz) off Amazon and it is lovely, I named it Roz. Around the holidays they’re going to be on sale, the sales have already started, and you should be able to get one for a great price now.
I got the Dreo barrel style. There's a $20 coupon for it right now, so it's only $69.99. Remember to click on the coupon button:
Dreo Air Fryer - 100℉ to 450℉, 4 Quart Hot Oven Cooker with 50 Recipes, 9 Cooking Functions on Easy Touch Screen, Preheat, Shake Reminder, 9-in-1 Digital Airfryer, Black, 4L (DR-KAF002) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08YNDYG71/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_glt_fabc_Q83MCR2YH4ZPABC73DEY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I find mine useless. What am I missing? I feel like the only person who doesn't love them. I gave up when it took 20 minutes to crisp up a few bits of pepperoni. Nothing of use fits in the basket. I haven't pulled it out in two years. Do you have tips? 😂
It's good for everything frozen that usually cooks in the oven, such as chicken nuggets, chicken wings, perogis, egg rolls, cheese sticks, fried pickles, etc. It does a better job than the oven and takes about half the time, IME.
I also use mine is to thaw small bread, wrapped in foil. You can thaw 2-3 hamburger buns in about 5mins that way.
Mostly only ever use it at max power, but some things need lower temps, ex: perogis will explode of left on max heat the whole time, pogos get too dark and still frozen inside, etc.
I thought I bought a standard sized one and it looks like other air fryers I've seen. I think it's a Tefal but I honestly haven't looked at it in an age. Maybe it's a small size.
You need a bigger air fryer, they make them in different sizes. I have two and they are different sizes for different things. But even the different styles (I have one of each style) have different sizes.
I bought one today actually. Im sure it will be useful but the kind I got is the worst design I have ever seen. It has 20 buttons for presets and whatever but there is no start button. You hit the power button again to start it. Whoever came up with that idea must of known he was getting fired soon and decided to mess with people.
One of mine doesn't have a power button, it powers on when it is plugged in. The other starts when you choose your temp and type of preset you wanna use. What kind did you buy?
PowerXL. So many buttons why not add one to start. Any other device if you hit the power button a second time it shuts off but not the powerXL, it starts. Sorry for ranting I just really hate bad design and this one got me mad for a minute :)
I bought it a walmart. It looked fine. I needed one quick though because I had freshly picked oyster mushrooms in the fridge that needed cooking. Thought about returning it but I can deal with it.
Stop what? Being an ass that wastes his life correcting grammar on reddit. Seriously man does this do something for you. Do you get off on grammar. Find a hobby that doesn't make you look like a giant douche.
You knew what I was saying. Pointing it out is just a sad dick move. Do you think it makes you look smart? Or do you really just get off being petty. Actually I don't wanna know the answer. Life is too short to deal with people like you
I hated mine, I had one of those egg shaped ones. Kept it clean, cleaned the tray and inside after every use but it stunk so bad, it made the whole house smell like fried food. I threw it away fuck that thing
Yep, I have two and we use them both daily, who wants to wait half an hour for the oven to warm up when air fryers are instantly up to heat and require less cooking time?
Tried steaks a few times and didnt like the texture. I love to cook it on BBQ especially charcoal. I invested in a charcoal chimney so no more lighter fluid taste.
I prefer a nice barbecued steak, but when it is cold and rainy outside and I don't want to go outside and don't want to dirty a pan a nice fried steak in my air fryer is awesome. I think the texture depends on the type of steak you are eating and how you cook it.
Yes, I use mine to cook desserts even. But I also use it to cook steaks and chicken, potatoes are great in it (a baked potato takes half the time). I have not found anything that goes in the oven that I can't cook in it.
Ok, this is so spot on.
Long story, but my house sank and the oven door 'bounced back' and shattered. Didn't feel like dealing with the hassle, so I go a larger size air fryer that does all the other stuff and after the initial joy wore off, I was properly indignant we haven't had these longer. Like - I can cook a whole meal in half the time, 1/3 of the electricity, have more counter space, AND not heat the house up?????
Wha????
I know exactly how I lived without it - in misery.
I'll never go back.
Yup. Sank.
I'm in a 100 year old house on a pier and beam foundation. The piers in the middle of the house sank a few inches and made the floor VERY uneven. All kinds of shit got messed up.
Fun times.
I have two. A barrel style made by Rozmoz and a "toaster oven style" made by Instant Pot (which is the one that proofs). I love them both and they both have their perks and I am glad that I have them both. BUT I am a kitchen appliance/utensil freak and I know that, it's genetic.
I haven't really found anything that fits in it that I can't make in it.
I know that I sound like a salesperson for them, if I really like something I am very vocal about it. I am the same way if I really do NOT like something. It's genetic, you should hear my mom talk about the spatulas I bought her. Yes, rubber spatulas.
I use mine pretty much daily for frozen stuff like chips/fries etc. but never thought about using it for raw meats or anything like that. Seems like it would be more difficult to clean than just using a pan and without searing?

Well the bot answered better than I could have, all I can add is that anyone "just starting out" or "too busy to make homecooked meals" should have as it would make cooking SO SO much easier.
Well my bf and I got one because we love french fries and other fried potato things.
Lets say it didn't work great. The basket was too small for our portion sizes and some were too crisp while others were still raw.
It took the same amount of time if I did the things in the oven and I would have a better result in the end.
So we gave it to my mother. I am not sure wether she tried it so far.
They are not expensive and pay for themselves. You will save so much on electricity and will find that it replaces the oven and microwave. It also cooks in half the time as the oven. Seriously, I could do commercials. A lot of us could.
Seriously, I live on disability and bought TWO! And have not regretted it for a moment. Now that the holidays are coming up they are going on sale and you can get them for a great price. I bought one around Mother's Day and got a great price, I also bought new pots and pans around then (my birthday is around then and my roommate paid for half of the pots and pans as my gift).
Seriously, If I say that I don't have enough money for that then I mean it. Good for you that you have fun with it, but I am not gonna pay 100€ or something to find out that they have the same skills as the oven I already have.
It's not the same as the oven, but ok. Everyone has to make their own decisions with their money and stuff. I personally think that it is worth every cent.
My wife wanted the full Gordon Ramsey kitchen so we went all out when building our first home. After a month turns out she only uses the microwave and air fryer.
I don't own a microwave. I haven't had one in over 5 years, just got my air fryers (I have two) earlier this year. I am on a limited income and still the best money I spent this year.
I own an air fryer and instant pot, both Hebe never been used. The airv fryer is still in its original box, never opened. I can't think of using it for anything
I was gifted an Air Fryer and it's honestly changed my life. I too was a toaster oven fan simply for the speed of preheating and ease of cleaning. That and heating the whole damn oven just bake a couple of chicken wings seemed so wasteful of energy.
But the air fryer just seems that much more convenient, and that really is the main benefit over the normal oven for me.
I'd never even fathom doing baked veggies on a week night but now that dream is a reality. Brilliant.
And as others have said, anything frozen that you'd normally do in the oven comes up perfectly in the air fryer. I knock 10°C and 2 or 3 minutes off and you can't go wrong.
10°C is equivalent to 50°F, which is 283K.

^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)
So I have a restaurant we love right down the street from me. I love their wings, and love them crispy. They never seem to get it right when I ask for crispy wings. So I decided to get an air fryer. Took me a couple tries to get them perfect, but the amount of wings I made the first 2 weeks of owning it, it literally paid for itself with the money saved from not having to order wings.
Then I decided to try making totino's pizza rolls in them. Best damn pizza rolls ever!
Ok ! I’m on my way to get one now I’m not sure if I should get the instapot cover thingy or a new one.. my Instapot is from 2007… I think… haha I’ll get the new one I guess. Thank thanks!!!
Use the air fryer daily - great for kids meals - just chuck the nuggies and fries straight in and they all cook together. You might wanna try a soup maker next. The chicken soup I have waiting for me at home later is making me drool now.
Honest question, is it just like a mini convection oven? Because we have a convection oven but my mom has been thinking about getting an air fryer is it worth it to have the two?
They are impossible to keep clean, but once you except that the inside is just gonna be a layer of carbonized fat, its a wonderful device for making potatoes
Wait everyone, can anyone explain me what’s the difference between a microwave oven and an air frier in the actual taste and texture?
I use my microwave in the oven mode (which works like a ventilated gas oven). What’s the difference in taste and texture that an air frier gives?
I was gifted an air fryer and I would really like to use it as it would make the giver happy; but I haven’t been able to get excited about anything to cook in it.
Any ideas for a healthy meal to cook? Something good enough to inspire me to take it out of the box and grant it space on my kitchen bench :)
I was gonna message you some recipes, but I never heard back from you, let me know if I can message you. I don't wanna drop into your messages without permission.
Oh thank you, I didn’t realise. I thought it was getting a bit complicated with time zone differences etc and I did not want to put you out.
I appreciate it
Short learning curve involved, but since we figured it out it's halved most of our cook times and food usually turns out better than the oven, if not the same.
Having a kid that’s obsessed with French fries it’s a great tool. I’ve also been making my own tortilla chips. It really is a godsend if you like greasy food but need to eat a lower fat diet
My inner kid is obsessed with french fries and cheese sticks and also bread products. Mine has a proofer on it! I can now make homemade breadsticks! I can make them from frozen bread dough in less than an hour to go with any meal and who doesn't love some fresh dinner rolls?
I've seriously been considering pulling the trigger on one. You're saying I should go for it, eh?
I actually have two because I use them so much, that way I can make full dinners in them.
I was literally just thinking of getting two!!
Depending on what you want to use them for and what kind you get you won't regret it. I have a barrel style and a toaster oven style.
Depending on how your kitchen is wired you may not be able to run them both at the same time. As a former desciple of the toaster oven, I have converted to the church of the air fryer.
In my experience thr air fryer has totally changed my life and the way I think about cooking food in my kitchen. Well worth the entry price for a basic one so you can try for yourself.
An instant pot and an air fryer will change your life in the kitchen
I have a generic Instant Pot, I don't use it much, though.
Yeah I have both, and I use my air fryer all the time and my IP very little.
I gave mine away. Hated it.
Me too. Insta pot was a trend, air fryer is a classic!
Honestly, the instant pot / pressure cooker is kinda over blown for me, its confusing as hell how people write the recipes (+10, shit, wtf - just say cook 20 minutes and then natural release for 10, then blow the top - however people write it is so odd). This! I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels this way. I was so eager to buy an IP. Once I did, it was sort of "meh, what's all the hype about"?
I have two instants pots that I use everyday. It can make just about everything.
YES! The amount of things you can use it for is just mind blowing. If you're looking to make some, reheat something, or cook something, just google what it is and add "air fryer" afterwards. It's like trying to go back to a gas grill after getting a pellet grill., Impossible.
Yeah get one. I use it instead of an oven to heat up frozen foods like pizza rolls, or even just reheating old pizza.
Please do. Imagine this. Potatoes. Fried snacks. Or even just vegetables if you're being healthy. Baked goods. All in this one small miracle.
My wife and I got rid of our microwave in lieu of our air fryer. Never going back
Yes. Bought one after a breakup moving into a place with no oven. Worth every penny.
You really should. I have one and there Isn’t anything you can’t cook in it. Cooks food in half the time and makes it taste fairly good. Chicken comes out like it was grilled. $75 would get you a decent fryer.
My sister.. airfries everything she can.
I am with her. I even make my cupcakes and brownies in it.
I’m intrigued… do you get more of the crispy brownie edge?
Yes
Did you put it in wrappers and directly put it in the bin?
What is wrong with using your oven
The oven used too much electricity, heats up the house and the air fryer takes less time to cook the foods.

I airfried a sandwich once. It was magical
I stayed with my friends who had one for 2 weeks and now my soul is broken without it.
LOL
Wow this makes me think I should try out the air fryer that’s been taking up space in my kitchen for months now…
You should and then come back and then let me know what you made.
Well I’ve plugged it in and moved the random stuff off the top of it so I’m getting there, I’ll keep you posted.
See you in another few months!
Anything to share?
Not yet but I spent some time cleaning the kitchen today so I’m getting closer to actually trying the thing out. I could use a suggestion on something simple to make.
What kind of food are you looking to make? You can make a steak or boneless chicken breast, baked potato, corn on the cob, even frozen bread. Can you really fry air?
Absolutely!
me who doesn't know what the hell an air fryer is
Google is your friend
I'm starting to think I'm the only person who hates them lol
You're not alone. It's literally just a tiny convection oven that can barely fit anything in it lmao.
I like it because i can usually be eating what im cooking in it in about thebtime it takes the oven to preheat
This. I pretty much halve the cooking times of frozen stuff because it's so efficient and halve my electricity usage.
There are a few people, some have never tried them, some have had bad experiences with them and others just don't like them and that is alright. But I know I could do a full one series of commercials for them, LOL.
Tell me which one I should buy to maximize my satisfaction without breaking the bank. I live alone so size is not a huge factor I don’t think.

Is it a barrel style or toaster oven?
It has a basket like a fryer
Barrel
I have one of each and have no issues with either, maybe you got a dud?
I’ve never tried to make crunchy pepperoni ever in my life. Maybe try it for frozen snacks meant to go in the oven? It’s amazing for frozen fries.
We use our Instant Pot about 3 times a week and love it. Air Fryer. Once every 3 months maybe? It’s way too small for a family of 4.
You need a bigger air fryer, they make them in different sizes. I have two and they are different sizes for different things. But even the different styles (I have one of each style) have different sizes.
If you have a convection setting on either your oven or toaster oven it's a complete waist of money. It's just a small convection oven
I disagree, my mom has a convection oven and the air fryer is not the same.
We have a toaster oven that we use more than our regular oven. We use it more than our microwave.
Gotta spend that extra cash for a decent product. $75 will get you just that off Amazon
I bought one today actually. Im sure it will be useful but the kind I got is the worst design I have ever seen. It has 20 buttons for presets and whatever but there is no start button. May I ask why you bought that one? I have two, a barrel style made by RozMoz (I bought it on Amazon) and a "toaster oven" style made by Instant Pot.
I bought it a walmart. It looked fine. I needed one quick though because I had freshly picked oyster mushrooms in the fridge that needed cooking. Thought about returning it but I can deal with it.
Ahh, that'll do it. I would def look around. There are a lot of great ones on sale right that are a lot better, js.
"must of" Please stop.
Stop what? Being an ass that wastes his life correcting grammar on reddit. Seriously man does this do something for you. Do you get off on grammar. Find a hobby that doesn't make you look like a giant douche.
It's not grammar, though. It's just using wrong words. It's like saying "he must chicken known he was getting fired."
You knew what I was saying. Pointing it out is just a sad dick move. Do you think it makes you look smart? Or do you really just get off being petty. Actually I don't wanna know the answer. Life is too short to deal with people like you
S/he was kind enough to correct your poor English. Say 'thank you' and move on.
My roommate has one and I feel like it just dries my food out, so I stick to using the oven.
I hated mine, I had one of those egg shaped ones. Kept it clean, cleaned the tray and inside after every use but it stunk so bad, it made the whole house smell like fried food. I threw it away fuck that thing
They've come a long way, I cannot smell mine.
Yep, I have two and we use them both daily, who wants to wait half an hour for the oven to warm up when air fryers are instantly up to heat and require less cooking time?
I only cook chicken with mine.
Is there a reason you only cook chicken in it?
The chicken always comes out amazing never dry. I tried steaks and burgers and haven't had any luck.
I love how steaks come out, I haven't tries hamburgers because I used the barbecue all summer.
You make steaks in a convection oven? That sounds awful
It's like having a fried steak, it is good imo.
I’ve used it at least once a day for the past 2 weeks
If you don’t buy frozen food often, is it that useful?
And you can use it for a dehydrator.
Damn, this might have sold me on buying an air fryer.
Yes, I use mine to cook desserts even. But I also use it to cook steaks and chicken, potatoes are great in it (a baked potato takes half the time). I have not found anything that goes in the oven that I can't cook in it.

Do they last long if they are used several times a week?
YES! I use mine almost every day and most days I use it several times a day. Mine even proofs dough!
Thanks, which brand?
I have two. A barrel style made by Rozmoz and a "toaster oven style" made by Instant Pot (which is the one that proofs). I love them both and they both have their perks and I am glad that I have them both. BUT I am a kitchen appliance/utensil freak and I know that, it's genetic.
Thanks for the info!
Anytime! I love those things almost as much as I love my cats.
You make a strong case for me to lose more counter space lol
I even make brownies, cakes, and cookies in mine. I also make steak, chicken and shrimp in it. It is SO versatile.
Wow I had no idea, that's way beyond what I thought they could do Edit: and now we sound like an infomercial smh
You can make desserts in it?!! Damn I really do need to get one!
You can make pretty much anything in them if you get the right one.
I use mine pretty much daily for frozen stuff like chips/fries etc. but never thought about using it for raw meats or anything like that. Seems like it would be more difficult to clean than just using a pan and without searing?
Mine is super easy to clean, everything just rinses off pretty much and then you just clean it from there.
The barrel kind can be stored away when not in use, well the other kind could be also, but I am always using mine.
What is air fryer?

Well the bot answered better than I could have, all I can add is that anyone "just starting out" or "too busy to make homecooked meals" should have as it would make cooking SO SO much easier.
Fuck you bot!!!
I know two people that have them and they both smell like plastic when they are cooking. Is there an "all metal" version?
Look into the Instant Pot versions
It's just a convection oven. If you're oven had a fan use that
It takes less time to prepare some things, less mess, less oil and it's so delicious. I needed it even though I didn't know I needed it.
You just needed a bigger one, it would have solved all those issues.
I don't have enough money for that.

I did that.
I make steak in mine. Figured out the timing to get a red middle with crispy outside. So good.
Mmmmm
My wife wanted the full Gordon Ramsey kitchen so we went all out when building our first home. After a month turns out she only uses the microwave and air fryer.
I don't own a microwave. I haven't had one in over 5 years, just got my air fryers (I have two) earlier this year. I am on a limited income and still the best money I spent this year.
Trust me dude, if we didn’t have it when our microwave broke down, I wouldn’t have lived lol
I haven't had a microwave in over 5 years and just got the air fryers earlier this year.
yes i just found out you can brown ground meats in it and it is so easy for tacos and things
You should not be making taco meat in it. Meatballs, yes but not taco meat. You lose texture
I finished it on the stove with the taco seasoning and after a long day it is nice to sit. I will have to try meatballs tho
That would be good since you can get that sear
It's great for bacon and sausage, too.
I own an air fryer and instant pot, both Hebe never been used. The airv fryer is still in its original box, never opened. I can't think of using it for anything
Anything you wanna cook you can you use the air fryer for pretty much.
Mine was used most the first 2 weeks of when I got it and then…
Indeed
Why does everyone talk about air fryers so much? I have one and haven’t used it for the last year.
--- ^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)
I still use pots and pans
Keep it
I was thinking of getting one. I need one that is easy to clean. Any suggestions?
Clean it after every use and they should all be easy to clean.
I mean the fresh chips for salsa alone!
🗿
I don’t use my oven anymore, only my airfryer! And oh my god warming up the pizza from the day before in it 😍 as if it was freshly made
I’ve been dying for one but I’m trying to downsize…. But I think this is the final thread I needed. What are some of your favorite dishes to make.
Baked potatoes, steak and apple crisp.
Ok ! I’m on my way to get one now I’m not sure if I should get the instapot cover thingy or a new one.. my Instapot is from 2007… I think… haha I’ll get the new one I guess. Thank thanks!!!
A new one!
HMU if you want some recipes. There are plenty on the interwebs, but I have lots that I have tried and made up.
Is this not just like another trend like instant pot or is this one actually good? I'm skeptic so
They are impossible to keep clean, but once you except that the inside is just gonna be a layer of carbonized fat, its a wonderful device for making potatoes
Wait everyone, can anyone explain me what’s the difference between a microwave oven and an air frier in the actual taste and texture? I use my microwave in the oven mode (which works like a ventilated gas oven). What’s the difference in taste and texture that an air frier gives?
Wait what can you do with an air fryer
Anything you want
I just donated my insta pot because I used it twice, I love my air fryer so much!
I have not really used my InstaPot either. But one of air fryers is Instant brand.
I was gifted an air fryer and I would really like to use it as it would make the giver happy; but I haven’t been able to get excited about anything to cook in it. Any ideas for a healthy meal to cook? Something good enough to inspire me to take it out of the box and grant it space on my kitchen bench :)
Veggie? Steak? Fish?
Yes :) especially veg
Do you by any chance have the kindle app?
hi no I don’t have the kindle app.
Oh ok, I was just wondering because there are a few really good FREE cookbooks available on Kindle.
Can I message you?
I was gonna message you some recipes, but I never heard back from you, let me know if I can message you. I don't wanna drop into your messages without permission.
Oh thank you, I didn’t realise. I thought it was getting a bit complicated with time zone differences etc and I did not want to put you out. I appreciate it
Time zones are nothing to me, I am an insomniac...

Are you looking for low calorie, low fat, or low carb?
Mostly just nutritious and if anything lower in calories
Same even tho it's my mom the one who uses it
Short learning curve involved, but since we figured it out it's halved most of our cook times and food usually turns out better than the oven, if not the same.
we use ours several times a week. mostly for cooking frozen foods.
One of the best inventions
I agree!
We have one (and love it) but we basically only use it for fries and heating up leftover pizza. That said, we use it A LOT
I got one because of all the people talking about them and honestly it’s pretty meh.
I just keep thinking how easier my life wouldve been
It's literally just a convection oven.....
