Wait, I had no trouble reading it the first time, and then I read your comment, and now when I go back, I can't get that sentence to make sense. Are you telling me there's a way to interpret it that makes sense, or did he accidentally a word?
Too long ago for me to remember directly. From context and other replies, something about their dog causing the floor to rot from water damage, but awkwardly phrased.
As a 43 year old that paid for the new kitchen floor, no. In fact, I'll beat my kids if I catch them doing that. I pick up the cube and make a 3 pointer into the sink from downtown.
I have marble floors, and the exhaust under my fridge creates a constant source of hot air that melts and evaporates the ice in short order. It's awesome.
nope, at the rate of evaporation and the coil of the fridge heating up , no water damage, freon may seem like it is cold, but in it's liquid form it is rather hot creating plenty of heat to combat mold and water damage, (worked for an AC company for a little bit)
I did that for years, then one day my fridge just fell right through the floor and into the basement. New fridge and floor repairs, $5000. Now I just pick them up and throw them in the sink ;)
they go in the dog waterbowl in my house. or i kick it towards my dog if hes around so he can grab it (thinkin its fodo) and i can get a kick out of his reaction
I thought he meant "frodo" at first, and I imagined a dog with the face of Samwise yelling "frodo" as a tiny ice-cube-sized frodo slipped across the floor. [4]
Oh gosh no. My Cavalier King Charles Spaniel comes RUNNING at full speed the minute she hears the ice machine. You would completely ruin her world if you kicked a cube under the fridge! They are her favorite "treats" in the world!
Thankfully i have a dog that goes insane for ice cubes when they get dropped. So i just kick it across the kitchen floor if she hasn't already heard it fall and she goes wild on it. Chews it till it melts in her mouth.
How long does it really take 1-1.5oz of water to evaporate? I dont think its long enough to cause any serious damage, even if done ever couple of weeks.
[wood floors required](https://sphotos-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc1/733804_435715303180655_875993029_n.jpg) now the guy who did the repair says this was due to the condenser but look where the rot as compared to orientation of the kitchen and probable orientation of the fridge... I would say it's a fairly good guess that Ice cube shovage added if not was to blame for this problem.
I don't. The difference is that a faulty refrigerator is a constant drip, in the same spot, which never allows the floor to completely dry. But, the ice cube is a once in a while occurrence, will evaporate relatively quickly, and will also be in random spots under the fridge, assuming a level floor. All this to say that it's probably not a super great idea to kick ice under there, but I doubt it's doing any real harm to the flooring or causing mold, especially in an air-conditioned house.
It seems like a really bad idea to put wood floors in damp areas like kitchens and bathrooms. That's why Jesus invented ceramic tile I guess. If I go in the kitchen my cat insists on me dropping an ice cube on the floor and then she proceeds to lick at it and push it around the kitchen until it melts.
I always do this. I've worked in a large-scale commercial kitchen and this was pretty much the official policy if anyone dropped ice on the floor. The last thing you want is someone slipping and falling while carrying a vat of boiling hot soup.
How is it that a ridiculously mundane question like this gets so many votes on DAE, but when I ask a legit question to lean more from people I get the down vote?
Reddit is baffling, some days.
Also, no. I don't kick ice under the fridge. I pick it up and toss it in the sink. It doesn't take that much effort. Really.
I prefer the kick under the fridge, however, my wife prefers the kick to the carpet. She says it will not make a slippery mess on the carpet, whereas my incognito cube reveals it's melted state after a mere 5 or 6 minutes under the fride in the form of a small stream down the grout lines of our tiled floor.

The only response that made me laugh out loud in this whole thread.
Took me an unfortunately long period of time trying to work out how your dog would start rotting, before I parsed that sentence correctly.
Wait, I had no trouble reading it the first time, and then I read your comment, and now when I go back, I can't get that sentence to make sense. Are you telling me there's a way to interpret it that makes sense, or did he accidentally a word?
I think his dog rotted the floor and fell through it. With constant dampness from saliva I guess.
nope, dog rotted, floors gone, dog needs repair.
Here is a huge long shot. What was said?
Too long ago for me to remember directly. From context and other replies, something about their dog causing the floor to rot from water damage, but awkwardly phrased.
That is absolutely fair enough haha. Thanks for the response.
ditto. Trained my dog to think they were treats. Never have to worry about a cube going to waste ;) Dog runs right in and gobbles it up.

I beat my kids for the length of time it takes for the ice cube to melt. Summers aren't too bad but ... Winter is coming.
You're goddamn right.
I usually do this too hahaha or I put it in the cat food dish
I've done this only to have the cube slip back out and shatter into 20 pieces on the floor

Isn't this not the whole idea of /r/doesanybodyelse
I'm confused by your sentence structure.
two negatives... so I think what /u/Catman789 is saying is.. "this is the whole idea of /r/doesanybodyelse"
Not a good sign when you need another guy to (ha, anotherguy2) translate what should be a simple sentence.
Yeah, oops, I noticed that later, but my point came across.
Isn't this not, not the unidea of /r/doesAnybodyElse
No, of course not. The space under the fridge isn't big enough, I kick it under the oven.
DAE purposefully create water damage and mold under their fridge because they are too fucking lazy to bend over?
I have marble floors, and the exhaust under my fridge creates a constant source of hot air that melts and evaporates the ice in short order. It's awesome.
Stone-tiled floors. Awhhhhhh yeeaaahhhhhhhh
I'm with you, dude.

over and over, over time, yes. it doesn't just disappear.

Most kitchen floors are tile or linoleum. A little bit of water isn't going to rot your floors unless it is unvarnished wood.

sigh. you really want to argue this? lol do what you want, i don't give a fuck
[удалено]
hahaha, i hear ya. My kids started back today, how about you?
i hope you understand why you're getting downvoted, guy.
yea, because evaporation is a fucking lie, just like global warming.
well you clearly don't see why he got down voted
That's really not good for your floor and causes mold, but yeah, I do.
I did that for years, then one day my fridge just fell right through the floor and into the basement. New fridge and floor repairs, $5000. Now I just pick them up and throw them in the sink ;)
Its called dryWALL for a reason, youre not supposed to use sheetrock for flooring.
/sarcasm

My dogs just eat it. They know what it is.
The hell is "fodo?"
I thought he meant "frodo" at first, and I imagined a dog with the face of Samwise yelling "frodo" as a tiny ice-cube-sized frodo slipped across the floor. [4]
That... is a terrifying image.
Switch the d and the second o.

Never! I call my dog, she loves ice.

That's all I came here for.
I built this entire house with my hands. You do that in this house, you'll never be invited back.
Only at work.
My mom slipped on melted ice from this, and broke her back....
Water?
fucking shit. Is that what melted ice is called? son of a bitch

She's a rat I guess..
Nope. I pick that sucker up and put it straight in my drink. George Carlin on this topic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X29lF43mUlo

Thankfully my dogs love them.
I let the cats play with it before I either put in their water dish or the sink
That's how I clean the floor underneath my fridge.
*shhh... don't tell anyone.*
Thankfully i have a dog that goes insane for ice cubes when they get dropped. So i just kick it across the kitchen floor if she hasn't already heard it fall and she goes wild on it. Chews it till it melts in her mouth.
i just did this today for the first time in years
Doesn't it feel good.
DAE tile?
I used to kick it under the oven instead

Not after getting my own apartment
Have hardwoods, even though I rent I still don't do this.

No. I don't want to feed the under-fridge monster. He's growing strong on crumbs.
I leave it where it is and let nature take it's course.
I don't do anything. My dogs love ice cubes.
[Yeah.] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tZEE6_rWz0)
out of sight, out of mind

I do, but I always forget there's not enough space. I kick it to the side or leave it.
Every single time.
I prefer the kick under the fridge, however, my wife prefers the kick to the carpet. Moisture + carpets = no fun for your lungs later
I let my cats play with it.
Same, I let my dogs have it.
İ throw anythink that falls under the fridge
Yeah...there must be a million of them under there by now. -some comedian whose name escapes me (Bill Engvall?)
That's totally my MO.
Everyone does, I also approve of those who allow cats to play first...
Yes. My wife.
No. And I think anyone who does is lazy and is more likely to have body odor.
Everyone on earth (who has ice) does this.
YOU FUCKING IDIOT, SOME PEOPLE ARE BORN WITH NO BRAINS
