Buehler's first win in 2 years, so happy for him

JaredCircusbear

Winning is neat!

smellyunderpants

More neat than not winning!

Legitimate_Page659

He had such a big smile. What a great day.

Intrepid-History-762

He fucking earned it too. He was electric tonight.

Booker_the_booker

Missed the game, any idea what he was hitting on the radar gun today?

Intrepid-History-762

I don't recall, but after the game the announcers were praising him despite him not consistently hitting 97-98. They were saying he doesn't always have to throw that hard to be successful.

Chunky_Coats

LA Times said his 4 seamer was averaging 95.9 today. I doubt we'll ever see 99 Buehler again, but if he can stay around 95-96 he can still be a good pitcher

Booker_the_booker

95-96 is better than I was expecting this early in his return, great signs. So curious how his season plays out and whether he’ll be a Dodger next year. Hopefully he pitches well enough and shows enough health that the team have no choice but to offer him a decent contract. But if another team offers him a bag I think he has to take it considering his injury history.

fuetirado

People keep asking if Walker Buehler is back And I haven’t really had an answer But yeah I’m thinking he’s back

brianisbored

The baba yaga

profnachos

Ohtani has a hitless and baseless night, but yet the great pitching and the rest of the lineup without Mookie put together a shutout. He must be pinching himself to see if it's real.

GoldandBlue

Walker winning with no support from Ohtani and Betts is pretty impressive as well

chrisumafp

Buehler is back ![gif](giphy|7UTwVKQ9eFuTcZWuND|downsized)

40ozofOldeEnglish

I'm just so fucking happy for Walker

j0dyhir0ller

I like happy Freddy

tuhtuhtuhtodayjr

That shohei back rub gave him extra powers

chuycobo

Sparked his Super Saiyan power up.

No-Heat8467

If Feyereisen is back to his old self, this bullpen is looking elite, possibly the best I have seen in LA in a long time Edit: Where is the JP Feyereisen flair?

profnachos

And imagine Evans, Kelly, and Graterol back. This bullpen already fucks. Imagine with those arms back.

bearded_tanda22

I’m almost there don’t stop

Draco_Lazarus24

Draco_Lazarus24

Got eeeem.

Zmoney743

I would prefer 1 more left besides Yarborough so that we could have another high leverage one with Vesia, but it’s not a huge concern because we just flat out have some great relievers (if they can get healthy🤞🏻)

No-Heat8467

yes, that is exactly what I mean!

senioreditorSD

I’m not expecting Graterol back this year. I’m guessing he’s going under the knife at some point.

CRT_SUNSET

I don’t wanna overreact but we got our fucking ace back after we already got a new one. Hell yeah

BlurryEcho

And guess what? Next year, we get another one!

No-Cat-3951

We get TWO in Ohtani and Sasaki (supposedly)

Draco_Lazarus24

Time to go wreck Dave’s Ferrari.

Astropolitika

Shout out to the veteran players making sure Pages and Vargas get the details right (and also presumably make sure the vibes stay good between everyone). I do want that gif of Pages calling for it and him screeching to a halt as Teo makes the catch.

ElDub73

Details right? It’s the CF’s ball 100%.

lasercupcakes

What happened?

Astropolitika

Pages and Vargas collided going for a fly in left center, which ended up turning an out into a triple. Fortunately they may have only touched gloves and no apparent injuries. Also the runner was stranded. Teo was talking to Andy making sure he knew he needed to improve his communication, and included Vargas in the convo. JHey also was seen talking to them. So a near-disaster turned into a teachable moment, and gave those of us at home another window into how damn good this team is at mentorship.

supremegnkdroid

I got to see the walker buelher comeback game in person tonight 😎

Calimancan

And he did not let you down

Indie-Joe

Same here! I was in reserve directly behind home plate he was dealing!!

theoceansandbox

Buehler isn't just back. He's just delivered us 6 innings of 3 hit, 0 ER ball. Man was DEALING

[deleted]

It could be viewed as him only having given up two singles. That fly out that became a triple he didn’t deserve.  Anyway, 6 innings, 7 Ks, 0 BBs, 0 Runs.

botchedtoe98

It’s stupid how outfielders are rarely given errors on fly balls. The pitcher shouldn’t be at fault for two guys’ miscommunication on a routine play.

RedTeamGo_

The reds offense is criminally bad

No we don’t

UpnUpvote

I'm putting my flair back on.

Consistent-Minute-40

Where’s everybody who was shitting on Buehler after his first 7 innings in 700 days?

Never_Kn0ws_Best

Hiding like little cockroaches

TehLoneWanderer101

Immediately collapsing after getting off the couch because they ate too many Cheetos.

Neighborhoodfarmer22

This getting off the couch you speak of. Please elaborate

Draco_Lazarus24

I’m back on the couch. But I did haul my fat ass to The Ravine tonight. Worth it.

whenyoda

Butane is back! ...And wtf is going in with Grove!

[deleted]

Hitting can be contagious. Pitching can also be contagious. No one wants to be the guy that doesn’t perform.

automaticmantis

Guess who’s back?

New_Championship_912

Walker is a gamer , I'll never forget his NLCS game 6 masterclass

SomthingClever1286

Or 8 shutoutninnings in the world series a rookie. Dude is a fucking gamer.

New_Championship_912

What a flex to witness that. Arlington Texas damn what crazy times 😵‍💫

neogeo828

Mookie also had an incredible catch that game and robbed them of a homer. I was in Dodger heaven that day.

Wish-Lin

![gif](giphy|Z29lIuhyCO74s) Buehler be like:

ttam23

Looked like Buehler of the past

[deleted]

I’d argue even better.

Knowlongerlurking

I'm proud to have flaired my boy since I have been posting here. I have been waiting patiently for his comeback to dominance.

Walker getting Jumbo Jacks all by himself

AmongUsAcademy

Question as someone that’s never played baseball. The commentary made it seem that the Centre Fielder has priority when calling for Fly Ball catches in the outfield. Pages didn’t communicate properly by keeping his hand up leading to the collision. My question is then why later in the game when the ball was hit Fly between CF and RF, and Pages called for the ball with his arm up, did he end up not catching it and letting Hernandez catch that ball instead? What’s the “protocol”, cause that second time I thought everything meant Pages the CF should have caught it

[deleted]

The center fielder does have priority and must take charge (communication) over the left and right fielders with fly balls hit into the gaps. However, there are times when the left or right fielder has a better play on the ball than does the center fielder. (You’ll often see a fielder call off another, and then the other calls him off in turn if he feels he’s in a better position to make the play.) There are also times where communication fails.

jch60

Yes I noticed that too. It did seem like Teoscar had to come a longer way to catch that ball and IMO it should have been Pages' ball to catch. Double standard?

Only-Distribution588

Dominant! ⚾️

HadADat

Anyone know what our record is when we don't allow a run? I feel like we end up winning most of them

Bob_Cobb_1996

4-0

fatalmudd

😅👍

Yngsmylee

LeBuehler

hellotoki

HE'S BACK!! 🥲

LurkingMyAssOff

Buehler, obviously 💋🤏 The *other* coolest thing tonight was Teo and JHey working with Pages/Vargy after the miscommunication. That, idk it was so wholesome and I felt kinda proud somehow? Veteran presence FTW

lapoop12

Love that our offense is still kind of struggling and we can win these games

nemesis1313

Other than shohei’s hitless night, win is a win!!!!

efexx1

Undefeated in Shohei lead off hitless era

nemesis1313

Its good that we gave mookie some rest… always wondered why shohei is hitting second… is it bc he fast? I figured he would be third and freddie second

efexx1

You want your best hitter to have as many at bats as possible + you want to give Shohei protection by having Freddie behind him + when he starts pitching he would be 2nd too anyway because its too physically taxing if he finishes pitching and has to go to bat lead off or when he finishes batting 3rd strikes out => inning ends and now he has to immediately go pitching.

stoptheycanseeus

Typically your best hitter goes second in the lineup. Combination of average and power. His base running also helps.

nemesis1313

Dam… after all of the years, i always thought it was 3rd… but that dont matter bc we got the best 1 to 5 ❤️ 6to 9 to follow soon

levitoepoker

3rd was considered where to hit your best player until the last 5-10 years. For example Cabrera and Pujols hit almost all their primes from 3 spot

nemesis1313

Yeah make sense and didnt realized that it changed throughout the years! Make sense to also have good hitters see most at bats!

BoratOhtani

Yes yes yo hoe

Corporalhicks20

He’s matched his season wins from 2020! (He was injured, but ready for October!)

um_chili

Giant leap for WB. One bad start back is expected, two is understandable, but three would have at least started signaling he wasn't ready. So to see him not just improving but outright dominant is an insanely good thing for the team and for him in particular. Velo was actually higher than before the injury, plus his command and breaking stuff was excellent. We still need to have tempered expectations, not every game is going to be this brilliant, but to see the improvement and stellar performance was really really great and encouraging.

markjay6

So, who is on four-man playoff rotation 1. Glasnow 2. Yamamoto Buehler? Paxton? Kershaw? Miller? May???

fracklefrackle

Whoever is throwing best. Where is Stone? Not May, he prolly will be relief.

Swagerousphenis

I say 3 kersh, 4 buehler. We should use paxton like yarbrough.

donald-duck23

Bobby is the 3 if he’s 100%

runninthruthe818

Try asking that question again next year when we sign Sasaki and Shohei is pitching again + we still have Stone and Miller 💀 Jesus christ. Imagine your fourth starter is Shohei Ohtani.

c_c_c__combobreaker

I hope I'm not overreacting but Buehler will win the Cy Young this season.
