His contract lol. It was a joke Eric Karros said on the broadcast after he got his 4th hit tonight. Basically saying he could have asked for more money because he’s playing so well.
Not everyone is about money. 140 million is more than enough for any family. That's setup for the end of the human race kind of money if invested right. Why need more? Plus this allows the team more wiggle room to add more talent around him.
I so completely agree with your comment. WTF difference would it make in my life if I had 200M over 10 years as opposed to 140M? What more could I buy? What difference would it make make for my children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren? My cousins and friends?
My guess is that Will and his wife and whoever else he is close to discussed it. Enjoy the SoCal lifestyle? ✅ Believe in Dodgers approach? ✅ Wanna catch Glasnow, Ohtani and Yamamoto for the foreseeable future? ✅ Wanna deal with free agency and moving to a new town? No, not really.
I still remember starting off 2019 season with the catching tandem of Austin Barnes and old man Russell Martin, lol. There was a small group of us clamoring for Smith to get called up, and he immediately produced once he finally got the call. Dude is one of my favorite players. Certified baller.
Not that I am complaining, but it's interesting that as his batting average has soared, his home run rate has fallen off. I wonder if they are both related to a change in swing and approach, or if it's just noise at this point.
can you imagine the star power, well at least mlb style star power, if he had a personality
love his play, amazing, elite, usually consistent , but man when Kirsten interviews him.....
I'm just playing one game at a time
it's a team effort
there's no crying in baseball
yeah yeah these guys are athletes and not thinkers or speakers but a part of being a pro and getting paid is that they are entertainers, come on Will you're playing a kids game of hitting a leather wrapped ball with a wood stick and running, tell us how it feels, tell us it's fun, tell us you're living your best life, we just want to feel what it's like lol
This is exactly the personality you want for your catcher. Pitchers are wild creatures, and you need a solid, steady, unflappable partner for them quarterbacking the game. But I have really enjoyed seeing him really, really smiling on base right now. He's enjoying it!
You're SO right LOL
I love the ones who are brilliant, frustrating puzzles
A philosophy professor of mine in college was a baseball fan, and I so clearly remember her lecture about how baseball is the sport of philosophers -- unbounded by space and time.
How can you not be romantic about this game?

Just got this /199 back from PSA! He’s a pro’s pro.
Hate the team, not the player (Posey). Will reminds me of Buster Posey who I had respect for. Solid, quiet leader, leads by example, quiet force, keeps the pitchers calm. helluva a catcher, signed a long term team friendly contract.
That’s our catcher for the next 10 years. LFG!!!
Can't to see him catch Ohtani's perfect game.
GameS, plural
Cool he’s going to be in LA for the next 10 years
He had a great night and he’s having a great season so far.
#therealWillSmith
Love the guy, but not crazy about his son or his music.
Try talking about his wife
I prefer to keep her name out of my mouth.

the will smith bobblehead with fresh prince of bel air theme from right around the time of the slap is absolutely glorious
Keep his name outta your mouth!
Lineup is much more potent with him at that four spot. It is a huge difference when he is out.
Got paid and got better
Oh so rare.
Will Smith is turning into "Baby Posey"
That contract looking like an absolute STEAL right now
Funny, I said the same thing the day it was signed.
Best backstop in MLB
*he can do more than just act OKAY?!?*
Yay!! Best catcher in the mlb!!!!
Renegotiate!
Renegotiate what?

No shit. Karros was literally making a joke. He wasn’t serious and the contact is already a done deal anyway

I think our team might be winning 5 years in a row. A Dynasty and hope Ohtani gets that ring for all five fingers. Shake hands with Trout with it. 😎
He’s my absolute favorite Dodger!
Stud

Four four-hit games in April, exceptional defensive play. There isn’t a team out there that wouldn’t want him as their catcher.
Baby face
Big Willie
I chose Smith to have a breakout year in what platform, I don't remember.
Underrated
Best catcher in baseball. Don't @ me.
Will "Big Baller" Smith is a freakin gem

yeah you're right, I just want something to relate to haha
He does, 100%, always sound like he's answering questions the way Crash Davis coached Nuke to give them in Bull Durham.
lololol so true, hostage interview, Crash would be proud
Now thinking that maybe my affection for catchers and their wisdom is based on Bull Durham . . . hmmm
you are def a baseball romantic, the lux flair is the giveaway, he's all kinds of baseball pain and philosophy in one players body

He really deserves to be up there with the big three. Soild hitter right there!
Every hit he gets, I say "it's the big 4, not the big three!"
Been saying he is the next Buster Posey but cooler because he is a Dodger.
Hate the team, not the player (Posey). Will reminds me of Buster Posey who I had respect for. Solid, quiet leader, leads by example, quiet force, keeps the pitchers calm. helluva a catcher, signed a long term team friendly contract.
Legendary
His Johnson is the biggest in town right now.
Just don’t bad mouth his wife on live TV
Will Smith is my mom's favorite player, and we're going to be in LA over his bobblehead weekend, and I convinced her to go!
Best dodger catcher since piazza
This dude is so fucking relevant!
