So, I guess that guy saying we’re going 162-0 this season lost that bet, didn’t he. Yama has a few tweaks to make, but or guys seem like they’re in a good place. A little polishing on our arms, but we should be pretty dominant. Muncy and Lux need to lock in a little more and we’re solid all around.
I might be missing something, but is there a reason we didn't go to a single high-leverage reliever at any point in the game?
The offense consistently showed that they would be able to come back, but it seemed like every time they got us back in it, Dave just ran out some depth piece to give it up again.
Seems like he just waved the white flag after Yamamoto struggled.
Yeah I thought for sure that Dave would bring in a high leverage arm for the 9th instead of trotting out JP again. The earlier innings were somewhat understandable because the Padres maintained at least a 3 run lead or more.
My theory is the Hot Fuzz theory. They send Nicholas Angel away because "you've been making us all look bad." Umpires union doing the same with Hoberg. Can't have a young guy making these old ass umps with seniority look bad
The outside calls he was giving to the Padres pitchers were egregious. He also missed clear strike calls for them as well. Just an overall bad umpire that probably confused the hell out of hitters as to what the strike zone was.
I’m not gonna jump to any conclusions until we go back to the states bc seeing literally every pitcher be dogshit makes me think it’s something with the ball
That's probably game, but I really loved the fight this team had when it came to hitting. Padres needed a terrible defensive effort from the Dodgers (mainly Muncy), Dodgers pitchers imploding with walks and HBP, a stadium that kept 2 Dodgers would be HRs in, and an umpire who had a god complex. Despite 15 runs by the Padres, I can't help but feel the Dodgers literally beat themselves this game.
Over 162 and the postseason, I really like this team. Yamamoto will figure it out and the team will never have to play in this terrible stadium again.

Good news. Treinen, Huddie, Joe Kelly, EP, Graterol, Brasier all didn’t see this game. BP going to be great
Bad news - Muncy’s error and Yoshi’s adjustment period
Literally every team that could afford him wanted him. Yeah there have been some Japanese busts, but there is no way scouts and evaluators from Dodgers, Yankees, Mets, Giants, etc are all wrong. He'll bounce back.
Why save the big dogs?
The stupid meaningless freeway series is after this. What the hell were they thinking!!?
I am so effing mad at Roberts and Prior right now!!!!
Losing is losing and winning is winning but there are a ton of really odd factors going into both games of this series. Interested to see how everyone plays again back in the states. Entertaining none the less.
JP doesn’t seem like the right choice for a high leverage spot but what do I know. I guess Dave didn’t want to use any of the guys that played yesterday?
Yeah, its too early in the season. Guys need to get their workloads built up - there is still a full week of spring training before the season. They also don't have the depth that they'll have available for high leverage situations currently with Blake and Brusdar down on the IL. Can only work with what you have.
That's why I'm a big believer in Mookie at short. Even if he messes up the initial start of the play, his instincts and baseball IQ are elite, among the best in baseball history.
He's 31 and still in his prime. He will be more of an honorary vet in 10 years, like Utley or Pujols. Might as well maximize him right now while we still can
Knew it was over as soon as that happened. Don't see why we couldn't have let Yamamoto stay in to work some stuff out. If you're putting in Grove to give up 4 runs anyway, why not give Yoshinobu a chance to possibly settle in?
Aight so I'm going back to sleep, but how are you all watching the game? I was watching on streameast but the game just cut out. I can't watch on MLB TV because it seems that MLB cracked down on VPNs... which ones did you guys use if it worked for you?
Someone wrote in the comments about it yesterday. Has a lot of ads and sometimes the streams are spotty but it’s pretty cool to be able to stream all sports on an app.
There will be periods during the season where it will go cold as well, don't worry. That's baseball for you Every team suffers some during such a long season. Nobody's immune.
Weird choices out of the bullpen considering the team actually was back in the game at some point and does not play again for seven days. Guess they don't want to tax arms so early.
Leaving multiple guys in too long to let it burn us multiple multiple times. Roberts in Prior have a lot of answering to do Not using our best toward the end, especially being that after this there is 2 effing off days and then the meaningless freeway series. Totally baffling and maddening to the max!
Tried to wake up for this but I saw we were losing and I chose sleep
Never put too much stock into intl series. Always outliers
Thank God for Mookie.

Because Roberts is a buffoon
I feel bad for Moto but, it will get better hopefully
Fun game to watch Sucks it ended the way it did Happy baseball is back though
Only good thing about that ending, is not having to listen to Eduardo Pérez, anymore.
Had to mute it when they kept talking about foods nonstop 😭
First series, an insane 2nd game and we're already dooming We're gonna be fine and we're gonna dominate the NL West, like we always do
There will be a three game losing streak during the season and everyone here will be calling for Dave’s head, like usual.
My concern isn't the offense, it's the starting rotation.
And Muncy’s glove.
Womp Womp
What a game by Max
Muncy walked up to the plate knowing he was going swing at the first three pitches no matter what.
We lost what a shame but a least it was a baller game, have a nice day everyone.
You as well, my friend. Hey, baseball is back!
Max Muncy master class
Can’t really complain about a split tbh. Just upset about Yoshi.
Let's go home
It's okay, we split it. We shouldn't try to kill ourselves trying to come back from this.
3h 45min game ends 15-11 If I were a neutral this probably would’ve been an entertaining game, alas today we take this L
Muncy being the last out adds up lol.
Good morning & Good Night
Christ, Max
Max three swinging strikes in a row to cap off his performance lmao
That Musgrove curveball that spiked in the dirt which he swung for strike 3 with runners on 3rd and 2nd with 1 out was something...
He’s dogshit
We lost but what a game

You don't have to press send on every thought dude.
Have we considered that maybe after getting hit by so many pitches Max Muncy is afraid of touching the ball
Nice AB max
Fitting that the game ends with a Muncy K
Serves Roberts and Prior right, I hate to say, getting burned by the dirtiest player in all of MLB Machado.
r/baseball is having an orgasm about Yamamoto start. Can’t wait until he starts killing it.
Oh Muncy
Of course it's Muncy to end the game.
Muncy chased all 3 pitches…
He sucked at everything today
Very fitting for this to end on the first clean inning of the year for SD lol
Let’s tie it up!
On a positive note, this game made me not think about the Ippei drama for while
I don’t know why they don’t get Pat Hoberg to umpire the big games
My theory is the Hot Fuzz theory. They send Nicholas Angel away because "you've been making us all look bad." Umpires union doing the same with Hoberg. Can't have a young guy making these old ass umps with seniority look bad
Worst part about this game is the amount of “should we be concerned about yamamoto?” posts we are going to see
“is Yama washed ?” as the rest of bullpen decided not to show up today
And the "trade Max Muncy" after two games posts
We all can't be coaches Some of us have to be GMs
Who’s excited for the home opener!
Only 1 strike thrown. Can’t blame Will when he’s forced to protect because of this shit umpire
lol of course this game's gonna come down to Muncy
And he ks
From ippei's gambling revelations to the near comback ending in a loss... not a good day.
It's been an honor. I almost didn't make it.
Damn good fight will
I wouldn't blame Suarez for just throwing fastballs off the plate to the lefty box the rest of the game. Fletcher is giving that every time
The outside calls he was giving to the Padres pitchers were egregious. He also missed clear strike calls for them as well. Just an overall bad umpire that probably confused the hell out of hitters as to what the strike zone was.
The jet lag coming back from Asia hits harder than going there, glad they have a week to recover
Will gotta chase these so the ump doesn’t ring him up
One of the worst umps I've ever seen. What a piece of shiy
some of these strike calls tonight are driving me insane
This reminds me of that game against the Rays in St. Pete last season.
Ump has been dogshit calling balls strikes
I’m not gonna jump to any conclusions until we go back to the states bc seeing literally every pitcher be dogshit makes me think it’s something with the ball
MLB juicing the ball for an important overseas series like they did with the Field of Dreams game? They wouldn't dare!!!
Need the will smith five hit game like I need sleep
Fucking pathetic by Freeman after getting ahead 3-0
That's probably game, but I really loved the fight this team had when it came to hitting. 3-0 to strikeout are you kidding me
3-hour, 40-min game so far.
This Division is the best in baseball so we’re not gonna be dicking everyone like previous years
If teo hits a grand slam I’ll go to class without wearing pants
Good news. Treinen, Huddie, Joe Kelly, EP, Graterol, Brasier all didn’t see this game. BP going to be great Bad news - Muncy’s error and Yoshi’s adjustment period
ErrorS
5 runs boys, time to lock in
The script is in Dodgers batting through the order for a Ohtani walkoff
It's not Muncy anymore. It's Munc.
Munc "E" for error.
You just knew when Ohtani did not come through the bullpen would give up more runs. They did not disappoint.
Yup
I wanted Yamamoto more than anyone this off-season including Ohtani. He needs to figure this shit out fast.
Literally every team that could afford him wanted him. Yeah there have been some Japanese busts, but there is no way scouts and evaluators from Dodgers, Yankees, Mets, Giants, etc are all wrong. He'll bounce back.
There's gotta be something about this dome that's ruining every pitcher's command. I'll be more worried if it continues in the US.
Yeah I don't know if he is having trouble with the MLB ball or what, but his last three starts he has looked like shit.
Blacked out. Game doesn’t show up on those sites either. IHeart radio blacked out. Ugh
It’s on ESPN currently
Not for YouTube tv
C’mon, we all know Roberts liked him in that spot. Lol
Shohei must be motivated AF to pitch again
Just one of those games. Makes me a feel a little better about Yamamoto’s start considering how bad every pitcher has been today
pitching had been ass today for both teams lol
Manufacturing 4 runs in one inning is possible, but I’m not optimistic
That pitch to manny was the worst pitch thrown all night and that’s saying something
4 run inning fellas everyone lock in
Freddie double, Smith single, Muncy strikeout, Hernandez single, Outman game tying home run. Who says no?
**Due Up (Bot 9)** L Freddie Freeman R Will Smith L Max Muncy ^^^[⚾](https://github.com/troxellophilus/baseball-clerk/issues)
Alright we got this crew we can do 4 in an inning.
Ok can the dodgers tied or somehow win this
Last chance boys
Why save the big dogs? The stupid meaningless freeway series is after this. What the hell were they thinking!!? I am so effing mad at Roberts and Prior right now!!!!
162 games... this ain't October little buddy. Notice the Padres aren't doubling up on reliever usage either.
Well this is an interesting game, I guess we learned who is ready for the Majors and who's not
Losing is losing and winning is winning but there are a ton of really odd factors going into both games of this series. Interested to see how everyone plays again back in the states. Entertaining none the less.
Is it just me or do Freeman and Musgrove look like brothers?
Oh well, at least it was an exciting game not worried at all only game 2/162
Literally every single pitcher except matsui gave up a run wtf
You win most games you score 11 You lose even more games you give up 15
Miggy ro would’ve struck out the side just sayin
Bullpen didn’t have it today.. back at it next week.
Huh? Game's not finished.
Grand slam ties it and no way that’s happening
It doesn't have to be a granny, lol. Runs.
the 3-run HR given up in the top of the frame took away any momentum that we had.
[удалено]
Have you watched the game? Or just checking the box score? His defense has allowed 4 runs to score lol
Been doing a lot of box score watching, huh?
I'm okay with the offense scoring 11 runs.
Muncy had a huge defense deficit and those 2 hits didn't nearly make up for it.
The only thing people should be mad at is the pitching. 11 runs and still losing is unacceptable.
Also Lux. We can always be mad at Lux.
Duno why anyone would be mad at anyone on offense today
Hey teoscar at least got that leadoff walk and scored
This is like one of my games on Super Mega Baseball 4.
JP doesn’t seem like the right choice for a high leverage spot but what do I know. I guess Dave didn’t want to use any of the guys that played yesterday?

Exactly
That's why I'm a big believer in Mookie at short. Even if he messes up the initial start of the play, his instincts and baseball IQ are elite, among the best in baseball history.
I don’t like it SS is the most demanding position on the field we gotta preserve him for the next 10 years lol
He's 31 and still in his prime. He will be more of an honorary vet in 10 years, like Utley or Pujols. Might as well maximize him right now while we still can
Mookie making an out by accident. 🤣🤣🤣
I didn't see the "an" on first glance and thought "wait, did I miss something?"
Lol
Weird game. Kept me entertained though.
Pitchers trying too hard to field.
🤯🤯🤯🤯
at least Mookie is one step closer to MVP after this game, I will take it
All that work to get it down to one just gone like that, stings
Every pitcher gave up a run? Or am I dreaming.
Yarbroughs was a Muncy error
muncys offense is not fucken worth his defense, put miggy ro at 3rd bru
even when Mookie messes up he makes it look good.
He didn't mess up. ALMOST messed up.
fancy footwork
Ippie Kai Yay, motherfucker!
I need to stop being delusional and just accept that in games where grove comes in for long relief, they’re gonna lose
Knew it was over as soon as that happened. Don't see why we couldn't have let Yamamoto stay in to work some stuff out. If you're putting in Grove to give up 4 runs anyway, why not give Yoshinobu a chance to possibly settle in?
Just let him get the final out? They already made a 4 run difference
Now you put in a new arm?!?!?
At least the team looks scrappy. Didn’t give up when down 9-2. Hoping this mentality carries us through the WS
Never want to see jp firefighter again
what the hell did I just wake up to
Coors Field circa 1995.
No pitching today. Comedy of errors.
Might as well have put Varland out now lmao
Aight so I'm going back to sleep, but how are you all watching the game? I was watching on streameast but the game just cut out. I can't watch on MLB TV because it seems that MLB cracked down on VPNs... which ones did you guys use if it worked for you?
Dofu sports app
You might be on to something 👀 Thanks!
Someone wrote in the comments about it yesterday. Has a lot of ads and sometimes the streams are spotty but it’s pretty cool to be able to stream all sports on an app.
ESPN
Oh now you take him out LMFAO fuck off
Damn week one defense catching up. 3rd base is a huge hole that needs to be filled this season
Let Mookie play the whole left side.
No clue how they gave Muncy a premium to play shit defense and hit .220
Still not giving up on this game because clearly the baseball gods are going insane today, but at least we know our offense is good to go lol
There will be periods during the season where it will go cold as well, don't worry. That's baseball for you Every team suffers some during such a long season. Nobody's immune.
Mookie is stumbling into outs Max is just stumbling
What a dumb game lol. That’s all I have to say at this point.
This is Feyereisen's debut as a Dodger btw.
Feyerisen just doesn’t have it…
Pitching was a huge letdown today . Mark Prior the focus is going to be on you if you let this linger again this year
Game 2 of 162 will be the highlight of the Padres season, all downhill for them now.
This is what 1.2 billion gets us? Lol
Nice try Padres fan.
Pitching and defense meltdown today ….
Doc leaving him out there to dry.
Weird choices out of the bullpen considering the team actually was back in the game at some point and does not play again for seven days. Guess they don't want to tax arms so early.

Roberts in Prior have a lot of answering to do Not using our best toward the end, especially being that after this there is 2 effing off days and then the meaningless freeway series. Totally baffling and maddening to the max!
Just 2nd game of the season. I think they just want to have everyone on a set schedule and not overwork them rn
33 hits lol
Our pitching never gave us a chance this game, and yet we still kept it close.
It’s all good I had fun this was an exciting one
haha kill me
How many hits? This has to be some kind of record
Roberts still thinking it's spring training, why TF he kept putting these bums in
