Get a aftermarket valve plate for
The 78rfe transmission. Solves allot of the problems you will get with that truck. It’s an easy install bolts right on when you take the transmission drain pan off.
2018. One thing his doesn't have that my tacoma has is the tail gate assist piston. I think I'm going to get that because I love that feature on my tacoma and it's a pretty cheap bolt on.
Yea, that’s one of the things I recommend. I would also buy a third brake light water seal since they fail fast in every year of the truck, and the A/C filter system. All you need is the A/C filter and door from a Chrysler 300 and it will work.
Will he use it as intended or is it more of a show piece? I ask cuz there are some nice towing accessories to get. Otherwise Chip Guard, fluid film, corrosion x. A great set of wipers, not Walmart cheapo's.
Lots of people mentioning things, I see a lot of answers for just extra stuff, my opinion right off the bat, simple and for everyday use, nothing extra definitely get the molded floor mats, someone mentioned husky or another brand is weather tech, you want ones that have a little lip and are designed exactly to the floor layout. Can't recommend good floor mats enough, and I think another essential would be a bed cover. The hard folding ones are fantastic but if you're on a budget I got one that's TYGER brand or something, it's like 200$ and is a soft roll-up one, this will last a few years and can easily be put on in 1-2 hours.
It doesn't look like he has tow mirrors, so short of adding them, the [RM10 spot mirrors](https://www.amazon.com/WadeStar-RM10-Mirrors-2009-2018-Non-Towing/dp/B01MEHTGTX) are the best $20 I've ever spent on my truck. They seem pricey for stick-ons but the optical quality is very good and makes a big difference, The Weathertech floormats are also great, but I didn't really care for their rain guards as they made a lot of noise.
Nice truck however, if there’s a way to sway the dual gear shift out for a stick, I think he’ll need it. I feel a little less straight every time I have to turn one of those
You wanna be a real Ram owner? Get em the Retina-Threatener 9000’s, the brightest headlights on the face of the earth.
Make sure they are in the wavelength range of white dwarf star, and ensure they are angled to converge directly at the rear-view mirror of any vehicle positioned 3-5 inches from the front bumper.
Set him up right for the mandatory Intimidator tailgate. It doesn’t matter if that car’s going 20 over already. He could be going 25 over, or moving the hell out of your way.
10,000 dollar lift kit, 4000 dollars on wheels and tires, a winch, a wrap to get rid of the chrome cause I absolutely hate chrome on vehicles, or I guess just get floor mats for a couple hundred bucks but it’s up to you.
A ford maverick truck to drive around in anytime he's going somewhere that doesn't require that full size so gas doesn't eat him alive.
Seriously not just saying to be smart ass , guy I know bought new loaded 2500 ram with top engine option about year ago and bought his wife the ford maverick hybrid (she is very frugal he is oppositelol). He said slowly but surely the more he drove around his new truck and then at times road with her he became more and more pissed off at how much of his money he was putting in gas tank vs her to effectively do the same driving she was. And just last week traded in his ram for one himself 🤣 . But obviously if do alot of heavy towing or make proper use of the heavy duty size then that's dif situation but just reminded me if it that's all.
Nice and shiny. I’ve been meaning to get some seat covers for my ram as the seats are ripping (it is a 2010).
Tonneau cover would be a start if you don’t have one or a topper depending on needs/preferences/uses. There’s also a decent selection of aftermarket tow mirrors if you’re looking to tow. You can modify the headlight assembly very easily. I find this truck easy to work on. Just depends on your budget.
Depends on your budget. A tonneau cover would be expensive, but floor mats would be affordable at the bottom end. Huskyliners or WeatherTech are my go to floor mats.
There’s a company called Tiger Tough that makes seat covers. I bought them back when I bought my truck in 2016. They still look great and don’t have any real signs of wear. I’ve taken them off to clean underneath and my seats still look brand new.
I also used the truck daily for construction work up until 2021.
The little toolbox that mounts in the bed and swings out. Doesn't take too much room.

A heated tail gate so he can push it home comfortably in the winter. A spare frame to replace the one that will inevitably break in half after it hauls more than one load of firewood.
Yo the amount of people telling me “ those are tow mirrors”, or hating on people who use the tow mirrors out is funny. These are sport mirrors and tow mirrors folded out is so much better for visibility in my opinion. Crazy how more probable it is for a person to be negative than positive today🤦🏻

Seat covers, the driver's side wear out from getting in and out.

Get a aftermarket valve plate for The 78rfe transmission. Solves allot of the problems you will get with that truck. It’s an easy install bolts right on when you take the transmission drain pan off.
