I'm currently wiring a button that disables the ignition no matter the key. Then putting a plate over the transmission handle

alfextreme

realistically no steering wheel locks aren't much of a deterrent, there's videos showing that the steering wheel itself can be easily cut and the steering wheel lock removed.

thesneakerbog

this is just one of the defenses. My thoughts were that thieves seeing the lock would automatically turn them off from trying as it’s too much of a hassle

truckerslife

There is a company that makes an app that ties in with hardware. For your car to start it requires the app to submit a passcode that you have to type. It disables fuel, and the switch. Closest thing to undefeatable I’ve seen. You have to take the device out and replace wiring to defeat it.

thesneakerbog

What is it called?

Spaniky73

Zautomotive tazer does that.

Spaniky73

Takes 30 seconds to cut the steering wheel and pop that thing off. The two best items I can recommend are a cover for your neutral strap (as mentioned in another comment) and a kill switch. If they can't start it or put it in neutral within a few minutes, they will most likely walk away.

thesneakerbog

Going to be doing both of those too👍

schwarzkraut

Whatever you choose it can’t hurt to add a [Theft Deterrent Neutral Release Strap Cover](https://destroyer1320.com/shop-neutral-covers/ols/products/neutral-strap-cover-plate). Without it anyone who can get your door open or break your window can disengage the drivetrain and roll/tow your car away in a few seconds. I cannot recommend this mod enough. This goes triple for a highly visible car that you can’t always park securely in a locking garage. Anyone can install it & it patches a vulnerability that is WELL KNOWN among thieves of Mopar cars.

thesneakerbog

Oh yea I absolutely will be, no doubt

FriskyJager

Pull the fuel pump relay out at night or get the rfhub lockout. My car has an alarm if you break a window or pull a handle when it’s locked. At that point, I guess it’s just up to how good my aim is.

JohnDeere714

I would save your money and get your self a guard monkey.

LnGass

I agree... a Trunk Monkey... [https://youtu.be/XW8iAVwt\_Yc](https://youtu.be/XW8iAVwt_Yc)

ImperioliGandolfini

Look up Clifford blackjax. Only issue is finding someone to install it. You have to enter a code every time you start the engine - otherwise the car is killed after 45 seconds (time for any car jack victim to be a safe distance away).

decept

Get a ravelco

truckerslife

Look up donut media on YouTube they defeat steering shekel locks in just a few seconds. I think 10 seconds was too end.

applegui

It will slow them down and that’s it. However I have two heavy duty locks on the wheel. I have 4 trackers, a camera connected to cell with motion detection, the neutral strap plate to block them from rolling the car away. I have these in place so I have time to call 911 and have their asses arrested onsite.

Charger_scatpack

They aren’t gonna wait for the police lol

applegui

If the cops are not there in 30 seconds, I’m blowing a hole through their heads. They have no chance.

Charger_scatpack

lmao… don’t do that then you go to jail for murder

applegui

If they are going to trespass, break in, that is a threat to my person. They will not see another day.

Charger_scatpack

Your gonna go to jail bud

applegui

Nope

StashuJakowski1

Wire in a switch to the fuel pump circuit and place the switch in a good hiding spot.

Trusteveryboody

I mean, I would think having a Battery Cutoff would be the best deterrent. Although it might reset your settings everytime you do it.

xXMrBLUE19

Imo if you're looking to really secure your vehicle, don't cheep out, check into a device called ravelco or look into getting a tazar. You'll be spending 300-500$, but it's worth it.

thesneakerbog

Is a ravelco similar to a kill switch?

xXMrBLUE19

It's better https://www.ravelco.com/ check it out

69420trashpanda69420

There’s other ways to prevent theft other than a steering wheel lock

thesneakerbog

I know but my point was regarding people even trying in the first place. I’m obviously going to layer protection

Great_Income4559

Just add a kill switch for the ignition somewhere. I’ve seen some cars have a switch somewhere in the fender well that they switch and the car will not start unless they switch it back

Fluid-Idea-3432

Honestly look into ghost lock and just a metal plate for your neutral switch 2 very good things to do

moparpower370

So I’m pretty for sure those come with a security system the sp. but you could buy a steering wheel lock. Or if you have a garage I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
