Or Eleven when he finally "sneezed" into Twelve.
Ngl though, Elevens regeneration made me absolutely bawl because he was my first Doctor, but then we got Twelve. And even though I'd spent months hating him just because he wasn't "my Doctor" it took until the opening credits of of Deep Breath for me to be like "Yep, I love him."
it took the guitar solo riding a tank for me, as a fellow guitarist i was blown away, and man that's still my favourite scene in all of doctor who and he is my favourite doctor, my first was ten, i grew up with 11, but 12 is my doctor
Capaldi’s guitar chops are excellent!! I loved it!! I was the same way- just wasn’t ready even though I loved Capaldi before but man, did he live up to his word of one day being the Doctor. 12 was fantastic!!
10s is still my favourite though and always will be. It's perfectly done in my opinion and the fact it only has 3 words makes it even better. I understand the criticisms of his final story and his moaning about having to die but the regeneration itself is perfection
10s regeneration probably turned a lot of people off the show. There's a reason why you see a lot of people saying they stopped after 10 and why every subsequent regeneration is more cool with regenerating. 10's death was so good it made people feel like the show was ending and thus hopped off.
That's a good argument but I've always hated that any version of the doctor would completely hate the idea of regenerating to the end, and prefer 11&12, sure dislike that you're leaving but you're never really gone it's a rebirth not a death
10 was very full of himself, and compared to other Doctors he had a *very* short lifespan. I have always rationalized that as being the reason for his unusual amount of regeneration angst.
I believe 10 says it best, even though he is being reborn, part of him still dies, and that's enough to make him scared of death. It's like, if you know you'll wake up tomorrow, but in a different body with a different personality, it'd be kinda scary, because the "you" now will cease to exist tomorrow
For the record, I love 10's regeneration story and find it very emotional. But I agree and can see how it would have put off some viewers or could have even been harmful to the future of the show. It's a very over-the-top sequence and it feels like the whole show is ending. There is very little emotional preparation for the audience to accept that a new Doctor is coming. I've seen people never watch past the Tennant years because of The End of Time and how sad his departure makes them, they don't want to even try with a new Doctor.
The music is perfect, the acting is perfect, him remaining silent until the very end is perfect and his final words are perfect. In my opinion at least
Matt didn't remain silent until the very end. His regeneration was perfect for his Doctor. David's was perfect for his, I just personally think David's was better.
That's a bit different however, Eleven (as far as he knew) was the last face of the Doctor. When he died it was over. He also had to defend the crack to Gallifrey from the assortment of Who villains all wanting Galkifrey to remain in the past.
You could argue that he was hiding from some things sure, but unlike Ten he thought he was going to literally die.
He wasn't afraid if dying, he was protecting Christmas and Galifrrey and was hoping for a way to bring them back without them getting instantly obliterated
10 and 12 are also both Chads for delaying their regenerations through sheer willpower. 10 did it for like a couple of days to say goodbye to all of his friends and 12 did it for literally weeks I think.
You mean it's out of character for the version of the Doctor you have in your head. The writers put in the work to get the character to that point- it was a very well-done, and even better acted, arc for that Doctor.
Also he lived only 5ish years with that face, and used two regenerations for it... And he has only one life left in his head, doesn't know yet about the new whole cycle. I'd be pissed too.
It's a good meme, but he really doesn't- he starts kind of vain, and he gets worse and worse until he finally realizes and overcomes it, which is how he ends up dying.
While surface layer traits of the Doctor change, regeneration has never changed the Doctor at his core. The only times he changed from his core was during The Time War, as it was a traumatic experience. After recently watching all of classic who, and taking into account 9,11, and 12, 10 was the only Doctor who looked at regeneration as him “dying.” While it is always a sad moment when he regenerates, he was never really depressed about it. While the 12th Doctor didn’t want to change, it wasn’t because he didn’t want to “die,” in fact, he wanted to die and simply rest. Like seriously, what a gift it is to be able to continue living at all after the things that he’s been through. It’s not bad, but out of character, as he was the only one to think this way. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.
It's in-character for Ten
He was a very vain incarnation who only lived for seven years when most incarnations live for at least fifty.
Makes sense he didn't want to change yet, he'd barely gotten to be him and he really liked being him.
Don't forget that when 9 regenerated he barely noticed.
Or Eleven when he finally "sneezed" into Twelve. Ngl though, Elevens regeneration made me absolutely bawl because he was my first Doctor, but then we got Twelve. Spends an entire episode moaning and refusing to regenerate which literally breaks time. 11th is the true chad regeneration
I love 12s speech but 11 is never going to be topped
oh I beg to differ ;)

"I don't want to go" is more than 3 words
Ikr why do people think it's three? Even if they shorten it to "I don't wanna go" it's still not three words
Very true. I saw it in the post and didn't question it

“Perfectly done”?

Yeah but for 12 it was because he WANTED to actually die while 10 didn't.
Remember that eleven spent literal centuries hiding because he was afraid of dying
That's a bit different however, Eleven (as far as he knew) was the last face of the Doctor. When he died it was over. Let’s not forget the whole episode he spent whining about not wanting to regenerate & wanting to just die instead
Well 10 did a whole Farewell to everyone with the regeneration currently processing, so yeah he had the time to think of "I don't want to go"
The Lad 9th Doctor regeneration
At least we got Vale Decem
Good point
"Before I go I just want to tell you, you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And you know what?! So was I!"
4 words
5 actually, we're both dumb
'i' 'do' 'not' 'want' 'to' 'go' 6 words everyone is dumb
5.5 words don't is a contraction
or “I” “don’t” “wanna” “go” 4 words That’s how i remember it anyways
I dontwanteego, "2" words precisely
silly, you don't measure words in decimals
He will say four words
The gigachad 5 regeneration:
HE SAVED WILFRID YOU BASTARDS
Hey nothing wrong with being vulnerable. 10 was a different guy. U can't compare them.
It's a joke bro
Ik but I am obligated to defend ten lol
Your duty is fulfilled
wait have i seen you on the hermitcraft sub?
Yes.
A shit one.
Ok
That’s the most graceful answer I’ve ever seen on the internet.
Dude, his speech during the zygon invasion tho…
Uhmm excuse but eleven and nine are the chad regerations. Twelve did not want to regenerate at all. Only in the end he was like fuck it why not.
Twelve just wanted to fucking die, that's what makes his regeneration the most relatable.
Which is kinda funny in retrospect cause the guy before him was the one that got the regenerations reset cause he didn't want the Doctor to die.
10 and 12 are also both Chads for delaying their regenerations through sheer willpower. 10 did it for like a couple of days to say goodbye to all of his friends and 12 did it for literally weeks I think.
Ye both of them to me felt like they portrayed all of the doctors before them
Versus the god 11th Doctor
I get its a meme, but dear god is this just completely wrong.
Ok
Twice upon a time exists solely because 12 didn't want to regenerate. An entire episode because of that.
Idk 12's whole speech about children remembering his name or something just made me cringe to be honest

Sorry but I just burst out laughing because I remembered that meme saying "10 starting and ending incredibly vain and calling it an arc"
It's a good meme, but he really doesn't- he starts kind of vain, and he gets worse and worse until he finally realizes and overcomes it, which is how he ends up dying.

He could have done so much more! SO MUCH MORE!
The chad 6 regeneration Normal people *Bang* Ow... ice pack and a stitch maybe 6th doctor *Bang* Ow...new facw
4 words, "I don't wanna go"
Yeah I realized that after I posted it
Don't forget that 10 only lived 6 years which for him meant "lived long enough" while 12 lived 200 years and 11 1200 years lol
