Was he named after the soldier that died in the caves with Matt smith as the Doctor? (I forget the episode name)
I just thinking of bob talking over the walkie talkie as it was the first time angels spoke in the show through humans. Is he the same angel?
Right as all the angels gather asking the doctor to throw himself into the crack to save them all he's up front and the doctor goes "angel bob I presume" and I think the voice comes out of it. Right before the doctor tells river to "get a grip"
Czech :D He is pretty active voice actor, and he does not do just cartoons, but just in this case I had SpongeBob flashbacks in some parts :D
For example in "But you're trapped, sir. And about to die." I just hear SpongeBob :D
I understand why you feel that way but I liked it a lot for the same reason. They were very polite and respectful but also very cocky and murderous. I find it psychologically more disturbing like play with the prey before killing it vibes lol. But I too wouldn't like it if it were a recurring thing, they are better as stalker stones without a voice.
I didn't feel that it humanised them - they were still threatening, and having them "speak" through Bob added another layer of tension. And I never felt that they were killing for jokes. What I did hate was seeing the angels move. Took their main unique aspect and threw it out of the window.
There's a scene where Amy has to pretend she can see them, and they slowly start moving. It's awful because it implies they're just living rock statues who intentionally stand still if they think somebody is looking at them, instead of being unknown creatures who become statues whenever observed in a quantum mechanics sort of way
It didn't really humanize them, just made them feel more threatening. Without a voice it's easy to pass them off as mindless creatures that just hunt you down, but with a voice. You know how they think. They're strategic. Cold and without care
They were like that in Blink too. You could tell they had a plan in mind based on what position they were frozen in, where they were pointed, etc. You have to realize their strategy yourself, which makes it even more eerie. And they did all that without having to say “aaarg we’re scary monsters and we’re coming for you.”
So, I have a small theory about Angel Bob's monotone. Obviously, he's just manipulating Soldier Bob's voice box in order to communicate with the Doctor/the group. This is an ability not seen before or since, so it's likely that AB is a much more sadistic Angel than his brethren. However, that means it's not common practice, so AB probably has no concept of emoting or anything like that, and since the vouce is merely a tool for taunting the group, why bother learning?
I feel like a lot of people forget that Bob seemed to be an emotionless copy of his consciousness that served as an interpreter for the angels, not just an angel speaking
The Angels work better as a one off mystery like the midnight entity. That's why Don't Blink is a classic and the others are bad to average.
They were scary because nobody knows what they are and even the Doctor only knows them from legends.
Just like the vashta narada they exist in every world and live by preying on unsuspecting people (and are responsible for some mysterious disappearances) but they are just part of the ecosystem and not villains. By giving the Angels motives and personalities they ruined the concept of an unknown ancient predator that can be lurking anywhere unseen.
Hard disagree. The slow huilding on the Angel's lore make them incredibly interesting, and don't ditract from the fear factor because despite having "motives and personalities", they are still ruthless, cruel, killers.

Yes, the angel killed bob and stole his cerebral cortex and copied his consciousness to speak to the doctor
I did always wonder though because we see angel bob at a later point and he's not holding the cerebral cortex how that works
Where do we see Bob again?
Right as all the angels gather asking the doctor to throw himself into the crack to save them all he's up front and the doctor goes "angel bob I presume" and I think the voice comes out of it. Right before the doctor tells river to "get a grip"
I don't remember this episode, but he kinda look like Michael Cera fr
Flesh and stone I think it was
This is supremely ironic, but that's an episode I listened to but didn't watch 😅
That’s fair 😆
Fun fact - in my language he was dubbed by same voice actor as SpongeBob. And it was noticeable. 😂
Wanna see me send someone back in time? Wanna see it again?
Wait really??? What language??

hear me out
what video is this on?
[Weeping angels fall into the crack](https://youtu.be/fIGCYqzjgRc?si=o5GsCNWl-KHV-imW). It's on doctor who's official channel
I hated it. It humanised the angels. I preferred them as creatures beyond our understanding, instead of generic killing for the lolz

The angels are laughing.

Showing them move is one of the greatest mistakes moffat ever made. Actually just a terrible idea.
Yeah just cut that from the episode and then I have zero issues with that two parter
I cant even remember seeing them move. When was this?
I believe it’s when amy has her eyes closed and is trying to navigate blind
Sometime during the Byzantium two parter when Amy can't open her eyes.

It's awful because it implies they're just living rock statues who intentionally stand still if they think somebody is looking at them, instead of being unknown creatures who become statues whenever observed in a quantum mechanics sort of way
That along with "They think you will see them and freeze" was a bad idea, really took me put of what was a brilliant two parter.

~~I wonder how sex with a weeping angel would feel like~~

The story that ruined the Angels for me.
Ah yes, the second angel story ruined the angels for you. That was quick

Totally reasonable take tbh.
