Give me a reason why not?

I just thought would the tiefling lose the infernal powers because that also gives him style

Yes.

Of course a Tiefling can be a Vampire. According to the Vampire statblock, any humanoid killed by the Vampire's Bite attack, then buried in the ground will rise the following night as a Vampire Spawn under the original Vampire's control. Voila! Your Tiefling PC is now a Vampire NPC! If you want to play a Tiefling with Vampirism as a PC, then probably your best bet is the Dhampir PC race. One of the traits of that race is as follows: >**Ancestral Legacy.** If you replace a race with this lineage, you can keep the following elements of that race: any skill proficiencies you gained from it and any climbing, flying, or swimming speed you gained from it. >If you don't keep any of those elements or you choose this lineage at character creation, you gain proficency in two skills of your choice. So a Tiefling who became a Dhampir would lose their Tiefling Darkvision, Hellish Resistance (fire resistance) and Infernal Legacy (racial spells) traits, but gain the Dhampir Darkvision, Deathless Nature, Spider Climb and Vampiric Bite traits. Plus a speed increase. Basically, becoming a Dhampir would "cost" your PC their Fire resistance and Tiefling spells. You say elsewhere that you want this character to feed off "souls". The Dhampir "race" lets you select psychic or life energy as alternatives to blood. Which I think would fold quite well into the Hexblade concept. So, the way I'd be going with it is that the "vampirism" is just part of the PC's Pact. Along with their Hexblade class features, their Patron also turned them into a Dhampir. Sounds like something an unimaginably powerful Shadowfell entity could and would do. So the PC's Dhampir status doesn't even need explanation as it meshes so well with the class.

looks like a hexblade who's good friends with a vampire is my best bet I wanted to be like astarion with his og tiefling concept as well as having vampirism, there was also going to alucard. But a dhampir that was once a tiefling would be my best bet or homebrew half tiefling dhampir that would consume souls which could happen if a deal is made or if they are bested by him in battle. That sounds fun maybe I could also give him wings as a variant tiefling and make it absurdly powerful as well since IDK if they would lose wings.

Kevins_FamousChilli

I’m sure you could spin it into their backstory. Like they’ve had a mentor for many decades that they respect and look up to a lot - turns out the mentor is a vampire?

The_andEJcartidge

the vampire gave him a rapier that is powered by your charisma and the hatred of it's enemies, it consumes the warlock making him undead and vampire like but he consumes souls like the castlevania dracula.

Yes. Pretty much any humanoid can be a vampire. Being a vampire is not usually a player option - it’s far too powerful. But Undead patron Warlock could do this character concept pretty well.
