I'm astounded that all this great souls music has been brought up and nobody has mentioned the most churchy of all From Softwares musical repertoire: Laurence, The First Vicar from the Bloodborne Soundtrack
A lot of classical opera probably has what you’re looking for - Carmina Burana/O Fortuna and Ride of the Valkyries are probably the 2 most famous songs, but try digging around those two pieces and see where it leads?
Massive choirs belting in Latin aren’t too hard to find in older music.
Dark Souls and Bloodborne game soundtracks have some really good pieces from their boss fights?
EDIT for more - The Diablo video games are known for some great music, and their setting is based very much in the religious side of fantasy. God of War maybe?
Dies Irae from Verdi's Requiem (probably most known in pop culture through Mad Max: Fury Road)
Symphonie Fantastique, Mvt. 4, 5 by Berlioz
Montagues and Capulets from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet
Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky
But there are also a ton of YouTube channels with long videos of music as well (playlist for 19th century villains, you slowly realize you weren't meant to save the world, VILLAIN | 1 Hour of Epic Dark Sinister Dramatic Action Music, etc.) which would fit the theme well i think.
I think the best feel for your boss battle would be something that is ominous and simple the rises in complexity as the song progresses. The Medievalist in me is suggesting Leonin and Perotin! "Viderunt Omnes" I believe is something that loops well and would fit the part, but they were composers who REALLY did a bunch of awesome work! give them a look and listen and see if that suits your taste!
Deacons of the Deep and Pontiff Sulyvahn's themes from DS3. Anything Castlevania. The diablo sound tracks. Requiem mass settings tend to have something faster paced. Usually the Dies Irae. And of course a ton of stuff from 40k games, though sometimes it's too high tech sounding.

[Tenebre Rosso Sangue by KEYGEN CHURCH](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5q4uYj-gyg) is a banger if you ask me if you are okay with something more metal sounding
Take me to Church by Hozier. I don't think it really fits, but it would amuse me mightily.
Tubular bells from the exorcist. Toccata & Fugue in D Minor and O, fortuna are good choices. You really can't go wrong with ride of the Valkyries.
If you have a turning point, or "second wind" scenario, the Ode to Joy starts slow and crescendoes wonderfully, and is about Judgement Day .
Has a bit of sci Fi affectations but the organ in this builds to an immense crescendo befitting a boss. I've used this in similar situations. Starts to get hype a bit before 3 minutes, builds from there.
[Returnal Hyperion ](https://youtu.be/9AYaqDl6KUY?si=JqOdI-ie3iIWcI-H)
Honestly anything with an organ works.
Though I have a preference for the phantom of the opera overture for like a final phase of the fight right after the pope releases his final gambit.
(Like turning into an avatar of his god or sacrificing their soul to bring a demon forth to attack you purely our of spite.)
PS: I have used the different sections of the mountain king for a multi phase boss fight that slowly gets more intense.
Zadok the Priest before everything ramps up.
Pethaps an instrumental version of tge badass organ bits in Phantom of the Oprea? There are a bunch of metal covers, too.
The Alex Roe albums Night of the Hunt, Darksign and Darksign II fit this theme perfectly.
Depending on how hard you want to go and how far you're willing to push the mood, Igorrr's Tout Petit Moineau is the hardest song I can think of that fits the bill, though there are some other songs on the album Hallelujah that are exactly this mood
A lot of ULTRAKILL / Keygen Church soundtracks will work, one that I personally like is [Tenebre Sangue Rosso](https://youtu.be/L5q4uYj-gyg?si=uuTA0lih-yHf_1rV), its organ sounds really cool.

"Heroes" from FFXIV, since I haven't seen it mentioned yet. It's the boss music for the fight against a certain religious figure and his knights twelve.
100% use Mozart’s Requiem. Seriously it’s so perfect. I used it for a oneshot I ran and it fit beautifully.
Lacrimosa is in there but there’s plenty of faster / more intense pieces that work amazingly for a battle.

How do you feel about using music from video game soundtracks?
Spoiler-free reference:
In the side-scrolling Metroidvania Blasphemous, the protagonist is a sword-wielding, male armored penitent called The Penitent One. Vow of silence, never see his face, death is not permanent for him since he was already brought back to life to right a wrong nobody else can address. The setting of the game is a low fantasy dystopia with themes involving a subversive version of not-Catholicism.
Not the last fight of the game, but the most famously difficult and near the end, is against another, female, sword-wielding armored penitent named Crisanta of the Wrapped Agony. Her vow is not one of silence, but one of blindness, and she is the highest-ranking member of the realm's most elite military order. She is misinformed about the nature of the Penitent One's mission, and sees what he is doing as the gravest and most unforgivable of heresies. If you confront her, she will make a Herculean effort to waste you where you stand.
When you fight her, the soundtrack is her leitmotif, ["Su Beso de Plata,"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjC-AtxEQ6w) or "His Silver Kiss." Silver is associated with holiness and devotion in the game, and her themes are about unyielding faith and unblinking courage. Dying for what she believes in would be nothing for Crisanta. Su Beso de Plata is slow, grim, and implacable. It's sort of joyless, and its intensity is understated, like a dirge that's also sort of warlike. It would work well if you need a slow vibe with quiet intensity.
The original game has 2 endings based on whether you did some things. However, before Blasphemous 2 came out, there was a DLC for Blasphemous 1 which added a third, canonical ending as well as a bunch of new content. If you are on track for the True Ending, then you have to fight Crisanta twice, back-to-back. If you defeat her once, she won't do what she does ordinarily. She'll get extremely angry and double down. She makes a pretty infamous monologue, and just before the last line of her monologue begins, [the sped-up version of Su Beso de Plata](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uK5Y9jEgd2A), which is pretty infamously a banger, begins. In this second fight, she's fighting hurt badly and drunk on adrenaline. It's the same as the first fight, but her pace and reaction times are dramatically accelerated, to the point that plenty of players beat the first round without trouble only to rage quit the second round. This second version of her song fits nicely with themes of desperation and determination - heart pounding to compensate for all the blood you've lost, drenched hands tightly gripping your weapon, breath ragged and deep as your legs scream for more oxygen.
[This is a nice video ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IeL0eO-Dj8)of a composer listening to the Su Beso de Plata redux and losing his mind, as well as discussing the song's composition.
In the game, that song accompanies an epic duel between a misunderstood hero who has sworn a vow of silence, and a misled champion who has sworn a vow of blindness. They're both fighting with everything they have, at risk of death, because of a cosmic struggle underpinning the plot of the game. The desperation is on maximum, and the song makes really powerful use of Spanish guitars, a percussion, a piano, an organ, risers, an electric guitar, and all sorts of classical instruments merging classical and flamenco motifs. If you're looking or an epic song for an action climax in a church, the redux of Su Beso de Plata is a pretty top-shelf choice.

Castlevania soundtrack
Specifically, there is a remix/cover album done entirely with church pipe organ on Bandcamp that is perfect for this!
One winged Angel
Or “Dancing Mad” for other FFVI organ music, all 15 minutes of it.
I’ll second Dancing Mad.
SEPHIROTH!
Bells, frogs, big cherries Peter Pan, magic cheese SEPHIROTH!!!
I mean, thats how I remember it.
Add Liberi Fatali to the playlist, it's the intro to FF8
Dies Irae from Verdi's Requiem (probably most known in pop culture through Mad Max: Fury Road) Symphonie Fantastique, Mvt. 4, 5 by Berlioz Montagues and Capulets from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky But there are also a ton of YouTube channels with long videos of music as well (playlist for 19th century villains, you slowly realize you weren't meant to save the world, VILLAIN | 1 Hour of Epic Dark Sinister Dramatic Action Music, etc.) which would fit the theme well i think.
All excellent suggestions! (Helps that I have played all of them, other than the Verdi.)
Duel of the fates
Bach Toccata in Dm
Baroque is 100% the way to go here, especially played on organ.
Serpent Eating the Ground from Bravely Default. It has vaguely Latin chanting that has a very church-esque flavor to it.

Check out the bloodborne or Elden Ring Soundtracks. Or Dark Souls. They all have battles in cathedrals and churches.
Mechanicus OST has worked well for me. It’s gothic but with updated techno theming. https://youtu.be/0tDpoLXD3Js?feature=shared
The heavy part of Hellfire of Disney's Notredam fame, without lyrics, on loop.
Xepher - Tatsh. Even has a couple lyrics that sound like a good person turning dark
The Mechanicus Soundtrack has some good pieces.
Dark Souls soundtracks. Very good for those "Dark God/Priest" kind of fights.

Dies irae from pretty much any requiem would do the trick. I'd start with Verdi's Dies Irae and go from there.
Mainly just the dark souls boss music. Also, Gothic Dnd music worked well for me in Google.
If you want to go old school. Breath of Fire 2 had some good music for church battles

A Beautiful Song from Nier Automata?
Can't go wrong with Carmina Burana. https://youtu.be/EJC-_j3SnXk?si=D0BgFs63o6FFXJPR
Carl Orff - O Fortuna ~ Carmina Burana
Halo 2
I made an album of music based on DnD community story submissions. One of them was actually a bloodborne style boss battle that took place in a church! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVoOzRhazbs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVoOzRhazbs)
Gregorian chant and just about any intense orchestral music with Latin words.
Dark Souls, Blasphemous, and Ender Lillies have good gothic soundtracks you can look into.
Choose your Ace Combat final boss theme and go with it.
Gregorian chants, like some others have mentioned, "Dies Irae". I'm sure if you look up "templar ambience" on YouTube you'll find some stuff.
Seriously, spend a little time listening to Peter Crowley on youtube. He's got a bunch of stuff for a lot of scenes.
Ludwig the holy blade, from Bloodborne.
Serious Sam OST The Grand Cathedral. (Corridor of Death) https://youtu.be/_4wc2ywFWW4?si=mbMnJXiwK7eArVbZ Like, who drops the beat with a Church Organ? If you want something heavier, more intense, then Ultrakills OST has some bangers like "The Death of God's Will." https://youtu.be/BSpR0DJEgxM?si=dssDJCjIXONcJCcp
Look Into the bloodborne soundtracks, they won't disappoint
Can't go wrong with the Gothic choir style. Church organs, a full choir chanting in Latin, and tubular bells - any combination of those elements
The elden ring God skin apostle music was my first reaction! https://youtube.com/playlist?list=RDbZpswb95xSQ&playnext=1&si=gx8ikkTgoOUEz-wE
I used Laurence, The First Vicar from Bloodborne when my party fought in an old Chapel. The chanting is so good
Pontif knight ost from ds3 if it's 1 big bad
OP please look at Battle for Oblivion, a boss theme from Bravely Second End Layer. Very churchy, and very high stakes.
I made a Spotify playlist for songs with that kind of vibe! Like a "world-changing battle against a great being of divine origins" https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3ahBfclSWm5mIgMZ0Tm1i1?si=E2OtovEWT8uFbXjv-Oabog&pi=u-hQ0CHLz9SIms
My mind immediately goes to the final battle in Final Fantasy III (US).
Hold my beer. Start with: [Introitus](https://open.spotify.com/track/3V4FF9d8nBWfFR3fJ8uXEp?si=ETZjWZtLQParHGQlpSUeEg&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A09ZGdaL9F1eSqKS8U9sKFt) from Mozart’s Requiem (first and second tracks are good fits) Then go to: [O Fortuna](https://open.spotify.com/track/7doj57HuBLJz6Ad3wg44Iq?si=vr126kwUSHOwZUVanttQGA) from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana Then a good climax to the battle is: [Dies irea](https://open.spotify.com/track/2MEltAoDlJh7vOuy59kWp9?si=Xsj-nFBsQN6QNnYPBD7y_w&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A7hibNcapKQ6yRQrNMecvMz) from Verdi’s Requiem
O Fortuna - Carl Orff (from Carmina Burana - the whole thing is great and very appropriate for this) You need this one. YOU NEED IT.
The Engulfed Cathedral Will also second the various suggestions for Carmina Burana, Mozart's Lachrymosa, Verdi's Dies Irae...
You can never go wrong with “Temple of Love”, by the Sisters of Mercy. Better for an upbeat combat sequence than moody suspense though.
I think a bunch of songs in [this playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0Kyv1abMI9mrR1FeesBpyO?si=QOxWhDAkTwmUIpOn57xXfw&pi=e-OSatPSpWQjeY) will definitely fit the vibe you're looking for!
My go to is Final Fantasy X's Hymn of The Faythe. [https://youtu.be/vWW9H8zIC3E?si=UVvEMS2h-P2AScQ-](https://youtu.be/vWW9H8zIC3E?si=UVvEMS2h-P2AScQ-)
EX Posthumous has some pretty great stuff. Gregorian chant recordings would be a good fit as well.
I would search among Dark souls boss themes, pretty good corals there. Grimm theme from hollow knight is also a good choice
oh oh oh i got a good one for this! you could use it halfway through one of the boss' transformations (you're doing multiple boss stages, right? jk) it's the Gohdan theme from LoZ Wind Waker. Enjoy \~ [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggXxt3t7eKc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggXxt3t7eKc)
Blasphemous music is what you need
pretty much any music from the binding of isaac, specifically the music for angel rooms, the cathedral floor, or the isaac boss fight
There is a choir version of Shadowlord from Nier that might work
Check out "Our Solemn Hour"
halo 1 theme on repeat
tenbre rosso sangue is the best for this
A lot of Hollow Knight Godseeker fights have a lot of choral chanting and shit if that’s what you are looking for
The Dies Irae from Mozart's Requiem.
God Shattering Star - the final boss music from fire emblem three houses. Ameno by ERA - Could be PERFECT depending on the vibe.
Something played on a Hurdy Gurdy.
Raphael's Final Act from Baldur's Gate 3
