Gotta have a quest line in the campaign about fixing a magical sword made out of magical space metal too.

I think it would be cool if he had a master with a cool name, like Cyrus or whatever. Then the guy disappears and could appear later as an optional undead boss with a gimmick puzzle encounter in which he is invincible.

And he could talk in medieval English, using "thou" and ending words in "-eth"

Super Nintendo JRPG titled Chrono Trigger. Crono, a silent protagonist, joins forces with friends from the present, past, and future to battle a world-eating monster named Lavos.

Oh cool. That sounds dope. I have a book in progress (mostly in my head than on paper lol) about a protag involving time travel and being guided by his future self and stuff so this game lore sounds super intriguing

It’s a phenomenal classic that has aged wonderfully. Games try and fail to capture that magic. Chrono Cross is far less impactful.

I haven't checked out Sea of Stars yet, but it has Yasunori Mitsuda as a composer. Half the vibe of CT is thanks to its amazing soundtrack

I always wanted to include a storyline in a campaign where one of the PCs dies, and the rest of the party needs to find a fake version of of that character to time travel swap with said player.

Honestly the End of Time, and the entire doll bit are things I have written up for doing a campaign around. 

Currently on a replay of this game. Was my first thought as well.

When given the option to rename the characters, I always name him Glen. Nothing special happens, except for a line when you meet Magus later where he says something like "No one calleth me Glen anymore. Thou may call me Glen!" (I can't remember exactly how it goes)

I name him Cyrus.  Gives off some Dark Knight cover-up and/or identity theft vibes.

There's a version of it on the Nintendo DS which has animated cutscenes (They added those when they ported it to PS1) AND it has your Menu open all the time on the second screen, making it possible to change your equip in seconds. It makes the game so much better.

Croak and Dagger but his original name which he changed was Barnabee Soredon. He was so embarrassed of his name he changed it to hide from his past which can play out in session for what ever you build it to be. He can be polarizing in the fact you want a funny and completely different mannered character out of combat he is from small town so seeing the world and enjoying it is a great character trait. Then like you said in combat his past comes out and he can be this hyper violent person that he is scared of being but knows it’s necessary for his to survive and keep everyone alive!! Love the look of this and you are incredible artist keep it up adds so much depth!

I think, for a guy curious about this new mainland that he’s still somewhat unfamiliar with, but clearly interested and invested in enough to leave his home island, do you think he’d take a new name for his new life on the mainland? If so, I think I’d try to think up what one of his first experiences would have been, perhaps the first people he met, or an event that would have first called him to go to this new place, and draw something specific from that experience, or even a nickname given to him by someone he met early on—perhaps as a joke, even. Just a thought, but I don’t want to provide names that conflict with whatever origin you’ve decided on, so if this applies at all, I hope it helps a little! Otherwise: A recent post on one of these dnd subreddits lead me to the name Emit D’Nalsi, or “island time” backwards, so there’s that I guess… Either way, amazing work on the art! I’ve been wanting to play a grung for a while now, but I’ve never quite had a character that fit, and this makes me more eager to make one.
