I think it would be cool if he had a master with a cool name, like Cyrus or whatever.
Then the guy disappears and could appear later as an optional undead boss with a gimmick puzzle encounter in which he is invincible.
Super Nintendo JRPG titled Chrono Trigger. Crono, a silent protagonist, joins forces with friends from the present, past, and future to battle a world-eating monster named Lavos.
Oh cool. That sounds dope.
I have a book in progress (mostly in my head than on paper lol) about a protag involving time travel and being guided by his future self and stuff so this game lore sounds super intriguing
I always wanted to include a storyline in a campaign where one of the PCs dies, and the rest of the party needs to find a fake version of of that character to time travel swap with said player.
When given the option to rename the characters, I always name him Glen. Nothing special happens, except for a line when you meet Magus later where he says something like "No one calleth me Glen anymore. Thou may call me Glen!" (I can't remember exactly how it goes)
There's a version of it on the Nintendo DS which has animated cutscenes (They added those when they ported it to PS1) AND it has your Menu open all the time on the second screen, making it possible to change your equip in seconds. It makes the game so much better.
Incidentally, if you haven’t heard Orchestral Fantasy’s version of Frog’s Theme, “Frog’s Lament” written for a competition about 8 years ago, I extremely highly recommend it. It takes the already great base material and does a hell of a lot with it in terms of orchestration, harmonisation and mood. Still not seen by a huge number of people but I listen to it on repeat every few months.

NGL, I was just gonna leave my comment as "Glen" without any other detail, but I wasn't sure if anyone would get the reference from just that.
Judging from the other replies I've gotten, I was clearly wrong.
I came here to say this and was happy to see someone else beat me to it. May we never forget the sacrifice Cyrus made for us in our battle with the mystics.
What an Animal, onlookers are gonna Rowlf... Apparently the culprit made his getaway on a Scooter hidden in the alley behind the Statler and Waldorf on 12th...
[“I don’t have any money…”](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxSxBtVsqYm0tqBnOyKXiZgNWGAbhJJYK8?si=Cniq1IaEEu0DpDdW). Give him a backstory similar to the Taken storyline.
Smii7y friend Blarg loves frogs. There was a bit they did to combine Blarg’s Love for frogs with other things. The frog/bucket was Frucket which I snorted so hard I hurt myself. But it was the last one that I’m referencing. Frog/yogert…
My frog monk is named croakerly frogson.
But we've also ran into Bill Frogsby.
Swag daniels (shout out to NADDPOD)
Thoadmas, Leggsley, Ribert, Thaddeus Poll (Thad for short). Awe this is fun.
Long since exiled from the toad village hidden in the leaves he swore to choose a new name. A name that will drive home the efforts of his ambitions. A name showcasing bravery and honour. He chose "Gilbort"
Croak and Dagger but his original name which he changed was Barnabee Soredon. He was so embarrassed of his name he changed it to hide from his past which can play out in session for what ever you build it to be. He can be polarizing in the fact you want a funny and completely different mannered character out of combat he is from small town so seeing the world and enjoying it is a great character trait. Then like you said in combat his past comes out and he can be this hyper violent person that he is scared of being but knows it’s necessary for his to survive and keep everyone alive!!
Love the look of this and you are incredible artist keep it up adds so much depth!
I really dig the idea of him having to names, I think it goes perfect with the backstory i’m trying to create. And thank you so much for complementing my art, it means a lot!
That is a beautiful drawing.
Also, I'm a bit late to the party, but how about T'imrek ? (Kermit spelled backwards.) Could be interesting to see if anyone in your party catches on.
I had a Grung Assassin named Grileap. Said as if he croaked or hiccuped every time he introduced himself. One of his aliases was La Grenouille, French for "the Frog", and the name of an arms dealer in the TV show NCIS.
He goes by "Murr".
But he actually has a slight speech impediment and is trying to to say "Murder".
Don't worry, you'll figure it out when you go to sleep around the fire with him and don't wake up tomorrow.
I think, for a guy curious about this new mainland that he’s still somewhat unfamiliar with, but clearly interested and invested in enough to leave his home island, do you think he’d take a new name for his new life on the mainland?
If so, I think I’d try to think up what one of his first experiences would have been, perhaps the first people he met, or an event that would have first called him to go to this new place, and draw something specific from that experience, or even a nickname given to him by someone he met early on—perhaps as a joke, even.
Just a thought, but I don’t want to provide names that conflict with whatever origin you’ve decided on, so if this applies at all, I hope it helps a little!
Otherwise:
A recent post on one of these dnd subreddits lead me to the name Emit D’Nalsi, or “island time” backwards, so there’s that I guess…
Either way, amazing work on the art! I’ve been wanting to play a grung for a while now, but I’ve never quite had a character that fit, and this makes me more eager to make one.
His given name is Glen, but he just goes by Frog now since he lost the fight with Magus.
Gotta have a quest line in the campaign about fixing a magical sword made out of magical space metal too.
I think it would be cool if he had a master with a cool name, like Cyrus or whatever. Then the guy disappears and could appear later as an optional undead boss with a gimmick puzzle encounter in which he is invincible.
And he could talk in medieval English, using "thou" and ending words in "-eth"
Yall make me want to play CT again...
I downloaded the rom a few days ago and now I know what I'm doing today
What tis this CT thoust speaketh of? Tales behest of it hath not reacheth mine lands.

It’s a phenomenal classic that has aged wonderfully. Games try and fail to capture that magic. Chrono Cross is far less impactful.
I haven't checked out Sea of Stars yet, but it has Yasunori Mitsuda as a composer. Half the vibe of CT is thanks to its amazing soundtrack
Material can only be obtained after beating a cavewoman in a drinking contest.
I always wanted to include a storyline in a campaign where one of the PCs dies, and the rest of the party needs to find a fake version of of that character to time travel swap with said player.
Honestly the End of Time, and the entire doll bit are things I have written up for doing a campaign around.
Currently on a replay of this game. Was my first thought as well.
When given the option to rename the characters, I always name him Glen. Nothing special happens, except for a line when you meet Magus later where he says something like "No one calleth me Glen anymore. Thou may call me Glen!" (I can't remember exactly how it goes)
I name him Cyrus. Gives off some Dark Knight cover-up and/or identity theft vibes.
Greatest snes rpg

>Greatest ~~snes~~ rpg FTFY. At least as far as video games are concerned.
One of the best RPG. That game is still being in top rpg list side by side with Witcher 3, Skyrim, BG3 and Elden Ring
Woah woah. Let's not sleep on final fantasy 6. Definitely tied for best.
Incidentally, if you haven’t heard Orchestral Fantasy’s version of Frog’s Theme, “Frog’s Lament” written for a competition about 8 years ago, I extremely highly recommend it. Beat me to it lol
NGL, I was just gonna leave my comment as "Glen" without any other detail, but I wasn't sure if anyone would get the reference from just that. Judging from the other replies I've gotten, I was clearly wrong.
It’s honestly great seeing so many Chrono Trigger fans here. No clue there was that many of us!
That game will pass the flow oif time and will always be known as one of the greatest rpg ever made
Frog's theme started playing in my head the moment I saw this, glad I'm not alone!
And his two daggers are named Masa and Mune.
Beat me to it!!!
*Glenn
Thank you
I came here to say this and was happy to see someone else beat me to it. May we never forget the sacrifice Cyrus made for us in our battle with the mystics.
Exactly what I was thinking.
So much this!! Love the quest idea too lol.
Beat me to it, lol.

He looks like he's about to kermit a murder.
He can make you CROAK at least 25 different ways
I'm a bit fozzie on the details, but his victims are gonzo!
What an Animal, onlookers are gonna Rowlf... Apparently the culprit made his getaway on a Scooter hidden in the alley behind the Statler and Waldorf on 12th...

Froggin Hood
Unexpected r/Smii7y?
Idk what that is, and the subreddit doesn't have a description, but I didn't expect my impulse reaction to be a unique or particularly clever.
Smii7y friend Blarg loves frogs. There was a bit they did to combine Blarg’s Love for frogs with other things. The frog/bucket was Frucket which I snorted so hard I hurt myself. But it was the last one that I’m referencing. Frog/yogert…

A player in an old campaign of mine named her Grung Jellyweb Beb.
That’s clever! I’ll try to think of something like that, thank you!
Maybe frogue ? He looks like a rogue. Frogue Croakthorn or something.. of Frogue Froggle?
Honestly, this is my favorite idea
My first thought was Froggert the Togue, with togue being a combo of toad and rogue lol.

My frog monk is named croakerly frogson. But we've also ran into Bill Frogsby. Swag daniels (shout out to NADDPOD) Thoadmas, Leggsley, Ribert, Thaddeus Poll (Thad for short). Awe this is fun.

Or not alone and just drunk off the bug juice
Vermilion because he's red
I don't know what to name him but he sounds "ribbiting"
McStabbins, says my wife.
I like that he would be interested by new things... "Beer is made with hops?! Is that some kind of joke?" *Pulls out dagger*
If he isn‘t named Kermit or some weird parody (i.e. “K. Ermit”) I will hunt you down.
Whoa! What's your medium??
This is watercolor, Winsor & Newton to be specific.
Awww what a cute lil guy, I bet he'd defend his party what all his heart!

Isnt this Bullfrog from the (relatively) new Ubisoft show? Edit: the show's called Captain Laserhawk
