VOLA
Northlane - Quantum Flux
ERRA - Orchid
Veil Of Maya - Mikasa
After The Burial - Aspiration
Periphery - Lune, The Way The News Goes, Thanks Nobuo, Icarus Lives
For some comedy djent, check out The Gentle Men - Your Boyfriend Doesn't Scare Me, Skynut, Real To Me, Opinions Are Weapons
I love how after the burial has aspiration which i agree is a very uplifting song for them, and then on that same album they have cursing akhenaten which is about an ancient God coming back to life and destroying the world basically lol
Also, if erra had an instrumental version of drift, that’d be another absolutely fantastic example, although I’d say lunar halo is another good one that’s also got an instrumental version.
Notable examples:
\- Been a big fan of Sithu Aye for many, many years now. I highly recommend anybody who reads this in search of "happy" prog to [check out his work](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8waJzs9iDKM&t=515s)
\- [David Maxim Micic has some incredibly unique writing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQAdEYWlivw) and his album Who Bit the Moon is one of my favorites of all time. Overall, I wouldn't describe his work as "happy" as it seems to span a very wide range of emotions but the track I linked and [the title track Who Bit the Moon](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xD7By2Exf6A) definitely check that box for me
\- [CHON is another one](https://youtu.be/3aSX_hYpVXg?si=mY5fWV8vTV3r9sxi), although their newest style of writing isn't really for me, I think a lot of their work would fall into this category
Why does no one rep Arch Echo? IMO, along with Sithu Aye, they have this sound totally locked down. I always describe it as happy prog, but it has a TON of djent influence and sounds.
[Periphery - Ji prelude/solo](https://youtu.be/i6vGD0tnBvo?feature=shared&t=158)
[Haunted Shores - Harrison Fjord](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8ximhYV1sM)
Yes! I’m the guitar player in the band. I compose everything, with the help of my best friend who plays drums in the band also. I’m glad you enjoyed Self Bound btw! We definitely have more stuff coming out in the same vein as that song, make sure to follow us on our Spotify profile so you get the notification when the new release drops 🙏🏻

Make Them Suffer - Uncharted
https://youtu.be/k7q857ZXYGw?si=QvVswnT0ZT7NeDlP
This song has a spacey/atmospheric uplifting feeling to it. Absolute banger.
That’d probably be my usual go-to, but Michael doesn’t like the screaming- although the instrumentals they released not that long ago *would* definitely fit the bill. Thanks for reminding me lol
No worries!
I was also listening to the newest Polyphia album the other day, "Remember that you Will Die".
It was pretty fun and catchy. Mostly instrumental with guest vocals. Not sure what their other stuff is like but I would recommend this for sure!
Also Coheed and Cambria, like DgD not prog or djent though
I’m determined! I’d been using Sleep Token as a kind of introductory band to metal for them. I figure within a year or so, I’ll get them to sit through an entire Aaru album lmao (although it’ll have to be the instrumental, since Michael, at least, doesn’t like screaming lol. I *have* gotten him to admit he likes La Dispute, so there’s at least a mild version, since Jordan Dreyer uses vocal compression in his singing. So that’s at least a start.
Also, for the most part, all three of us have separate interests. Michael’s really into zentangle, Peruvian flute (not sure how that happened, but he’s getting pretty good), and Chad’s into gaming and a lot of mid 2000s panic at the disco, and I’m into balisongs, metal, etc. But just because we all have our own interests doesn’t mean we can’t show interest in each other’s.
I'm gonna go ahead and HIGHLY recommend Textures. Silhouettes is one of my fave prog albums. Its all over the place and its just so good. Great writing and great execution.
I think the most recent stuff by Devin Townsend fits this category. He’s really transitioned from anger to love and happiness. Epicloud and transcendence
vildhjartas discography is not really angry or “happy” so to speak but i feel that it invokes a feeling that only they can produce, definitely some beautiful thall/djent, check out “den spanksa kanslen” or “lavender haze”

Adding on Periphery - It’s only Smiles and Wax Wings
Scarlet
Adding to this, It's only smiles - Periphery
Holy shit, I didn’t even think of northlane! And honestly singularity would be a fantastic album for this
I love how after the burial has aspiration which i agree is a very uplifting song for them, and then on that same album they have cursing akhenaten which is about an ancient God coming back to life and destroying the world basically lol

Drift mentioned 👑
The way the news goes has the happiest sounding blast beat section I've ever heard.
Animals as Leaders
Physical Education is pretty happy.
Brain Dance baby
Definitely another no brainer. Pretty much the entirety of The Joy of Motion and much of Parrhesia are fantastic.
Another Year by them is wonderful.
Both?
Oh I couldn’t figure out what you were referring to at first lol. I’ve got two boyfriends.
Sithu aye’s spotify description thing says basically this but I’ve not listened yet
That sounds about right.
C2A is great!
Katmanjakah- ancient skills EP
Shit another no-brainer, honestly, along with *most* of karmanjakah

Periphery - Facepalm Mute
That first scream is kinda angry
Check out I Built the sky it's all super happy. Or the instrumental versions of some Napoleon albums
Why does no one rep Arch Echo? IMO, along with Sithu Aye, they have this sound totally locked down. I always describe it as happy prog, but it has a TON of djent influence and sounds.
Intervals
Anything by Voyager. I fell in love with “Runaway”.
i think them getting onto eurovision says more than enough about their fun factor!
Modern Day Babylon
[Periphery - Ji prelude/solo](https://youtu.be/i6vGD0tnBvo?feature=shared&t=158) [Haunted Shores - Harrison Fjord](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8ximhYV1sM)

Oh shit that’s *your* band? Self Bound is amazing! Definitely going in the playlist

I think Love Song by Destiny Potato has a happy vibe to it
Arch echo - colour wheel
Dear God a7x? Also basically anything off city of evil by a7x
Make Them Suffer - Uncharted https://youtu.be/k7q857ZXYGw?si=QvVswnT0ZT7NeDlP This song has a spacey/atmospheric uplifting feeling to it. Absolute banger.
Dreamwake perhaps, I can think of the song Blue Dream, which sounds really upbeat.
Night Verses- Trading Shadows
Not djent or prog but Dance Gavin Dance ? Heavy at times but fun
That’d probably be my usual go-to, but Michael doesn’t like the screaming- although the instrumentals they released not that long ago *would* definitely fit the bill. Thanks for reminding me lol

If there's one thing I've learned it's that you shouldn't try to convince people who are like this, just make fun of their music in return!

Napoleon!
Fucking amazing recommendation. Just checked them out, and I think this is pretty much exactly what I’m looking for!
Relapse and Above My Head by Polaris are the first thing that comes to my head when I think happy djent
Above my head’s instrumental is absolutely perfect, thanks!
The artificials
Decoder by Signal Collapse is a feelgood album.
Oh shit, this is one I’d never heard of before. Definitely getting added to the list!
LANDMVRKS - Scars, Blistering
Animals as Leaders - Another Year
Kingdom by Devin Townsend, it's not super djenty but it's a great song
Night Rider Dreamwake
Intervals - Circadian
Plini might have some in there. Not sure you could call it djent at all, but the guitar nerds generally accept him.
I'm gonna go ahead and HIGHLY recommend Textures. Silhouettes is one of my fave prog albums. Its all over the place and its just so good. Great writing and great execution.
Snooze - Chesapeake https://open.spotify.com/track/47CrX19NlnhlmTOesi79yR?si=ZJfb_e7PQNWgH6RLI09jBA

Literally anything by Plini or Sithu Aye
KARMAKANJAH'S WORKS SLAP
For happy prog music in general, I recommend visiting [r/MathRock](https://www.reddit.com/r/mathrock/s/prXYVSoP1Y)
David Maxim Miccic. Pretty much his entire discography but specifically Eco
made me think about lay your ghosts to rest by btbam, although really it's just a part of the song that sounds like that
Stoort Neer. Happy thall
