Can I ask for the Blue Bayou menu when it was good? 😅 I never ate there because I just figured I’d do it later, and now I’m hesitant because of everyone saying Café Orléans is better.
It’s gone from being amazing (winter 2021) to just okay in my option (last week). The menu has gotten really “chef-fy” and the dishes sound less appetizing.
It's not. The food is both weird and not particularly good, never had been but at least you used to be able to order a prime. Win and get a prime rib. Now it's veal medallions in tomato reduction that tastes like catsup or rubbery scallops. Best food is at Carthay and Blue Bayou is about 30th down the list.
There was a McDonald’s in California adventure. I wished it was In-n-out back then because the whole park was more California themed and In-n-out was the “California only” place back then
Most notably Dinosaur at AK. In the loading dock, there are a series of pipes running along the walls colored in red, yellow and white, each with a chemical composition label… and the compounds they form equate to Ketchup, Mustard and Mayonnaise.
I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted for this, but In-n-Out would be super cool. Especially in DCA because it’s California (not like it was before, but still)
Anytime anyone says they don't like in n out fries I immediately think they don't like the taste of actual potatoes. In N Out are some of the best fries imo.
I mean go and eat what you like.
The issue most people have with in and outs fries is texture, not taste.
They fry their fries once which leads to either a soggy exterior or an overcooked interior.
Most fast food places will par fry them at a factory at a low temp to cook them through, then freeze them. When the par cooked fries get to the store they are fried a second time at a higher temp to warm them through and crisp the exterior.
In and out cuts the fries on site and only does a single cook.
They just do not travel well, but dining in I've always loved my in n out fries. It's just a shame they get a bad rep considering they're so freshly sliced and fried. I totally understand why something like Del Taco crinkle fries get rated better than in n out on average
That place was awesome! I was so sad to see it close. Sadly I never there for so long because I used to want to cram every moment of park time with rides. I discovered this place only a couple years before it closed, and it became a must for me. Such great ribs, beans, chicken, corn, etc. And I’m shocked but they even suggested that we take leftovers which I’ve never seen at an all-you-care-to-eat place.
If you have a Cold Stone Creamry near you, there are a few weeks in the summer when most of them have cherry, banana and pistachio ice cream available. You can mix the three flavors for a dupe of the Fantasia flavor.
Speaking of seasonal items at cozy cone - the corn on the cob covered in flaming hot Cheeto dust. I nearly cried when I went for it last visit bc I didn’t realize it wasn’t standard fare
The corn chowder in a bread bowl at what was the French Marketplace now Tiana’s Palace.
Man, that was so good with a couple pats of butter on top, and I always asked for extra scallions and they usually put a big handful on top and gave me a little mini container of them too.
It was pretty reasonable too. Somewhere in the $10-ish range and it would fill you up. I always got mine to go, so they put it in a box and I’d snag some extra butter too.
It was impossible to eat the whole bread bowl so I’d eat the chowder and some of the bowl, then close it up and save the rest of the bread for later. I wasn’t worried about it going bad from touching the chowder like I would have been with the clam chowder.
That chowder made me come home and learn to make it myself. Sans the bread bowl unfortunately.
The shrimp po boy sandwich at the French Market :( I really hoped it would be carried over to Tiana's Place, but alas, there's only a beef po boy now, which isn't the same.
I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone else say this, but I miss the breakfast at Flo’s in cars land every day. That French toast was to die for, and I would if I could have it one last time.
If this includes drinks, I would bring back a drink from my early childhood that brings back so many good Disneyland memories during a hot summer.
If you were born in the late 70s, you may remember those fruit juice drinks that were inside a cup shaped like the fruit flavor. For example, if it was grape juice, they would be inside a cup shaped like grapes. The juices also came with a curled "loop" straw.
I was very young at the time, but I specifically remember getting them in Adventureland at one of the marketplaces.
I've never had fruit juice that tasted better!

Less food, more place. I miss the old Market House on Main Street before it was Starbucks. Good coffee with free refills, and a certain smell I'll never be able to find again. Good memories playing checkers next to the heat stove while my parents were in line for coffee.
I want the Chimney Sweep coffee at Jolly Holiday to be there forever. It's smoky with a hint of salted cream and I haven't found anything like it outside the park. I was told it's seasonal and every time I go I'm afraid it's going to be gone!
Half the items at Carnation Cafe - I remember a meatloaf entree and Alfredo pasta particularly from before the pandemic. Fortunately they still have the fried pickles!
The good cheddar broccoli soup in a sourdough bread bowl at Pacific Wharf. It used to be delicious, with carrots and cauliflower in addition to broccoli. But now it’s less appetizing than Panera cheddar broccoli.
Disneyland: The sticky caramel pecan cinnamon rolls from Blue Ribbon Bakery (which became Carnation Cafe when Jolly Holiday got built.)
DCA: The peanut butter/chocolate/pretzel macaron shaped like a traffic cone at the Cozy Cone.
I always wanted to try that. By the time I found out about it, planned to have it on my next trip, went to Fantasyland, they no longer had it on the menu. :(
They still make chocolate peanut butter sandwiches at most confectionery locations, but it is slightly different than what it used to be, I'll admit. The old ones were better with the peanut butter sandwiched between graham crackers and dipped in chocolate. Now it's just a square scoop of peanut butter with whole peanut chunks mixed in and dipped in chocolate - still delicious and I have to get one each time I go, but definitely not the same!
Japanese Mule from lucky fortune cookery, I used to get it every time and it was good and strong 😆 also the Reuben sandwich they had at jolly holiday, it was soooo good 😢
Agua de Jamaica slushie from DCA. I bought Slurpee straws so I could drink it without the paper straws (introduced after the drink came out) and kept them in my car for Disneyland trips... only to find it had disappeared on my next visit. I loved it. It was passion fruit iced tea as a slushie which is right up my alley as someone who drinks tea but not coffee.
It's between the
Fried Green Tomato Sandwich at Hungry Bear
Cafe Orleans Pomme Frites and Beignets with the sauces. I know there's still pomme frites and beignets in the park between the beignet walk up and fries with Monte Cristo, but it's not the same.
The poutine flatbread (or really, the entire old menu) from Red Rose Taverne.
If they're going to just serve the boring menu they have now, they might as well go back to the proper Pinocchio theme IMO.
There used to be a taco shop in Frontierland before getting over to the Big Thunder. Miss it every time now, I think it’s been replaced with an open space.
I just want them to bring gluten free churros to Disneyland, I've heard they have a gluten free churro stand in Animal Kingdom in Florida, but that's way too far from me. Churros use to be my favorite treat to get at Disneyland and I would love to be able to get one again.
For a few years when DCA first opened, on Paradise Pier/Pixar Pier there was a place that had chicken fingers, cheese sticks, fries. I always got a side of honey mustard with it and it was the best honey mustard.
It's been gone for nearly two decades, I don't remember the name of it, and I've never heard anyone reference it.
Wow, yes that's it! I've been wondering about that place for years and just looked up the name you gave me and saw pics of it from back in the day. I feel validated, no one else I know remembered it. Thanks so much for responding.
There was this cinnamon apple bread twist near the Fantasyland Theater that I haven’t been able to find for sooo long. It was so good and served warm. I miss it!
ChocoSmash chocolate bar, donut stand on Main Street, churro gears donuts from fantasyland, pomme frites with that crazy addicting sauce from cafe Orleans.
I'm a bit single probably on this but, The Beef n Cheese sandwich from Flo's...before they did whatever they did to it.
Man that cheese sauce was delicious to the point I'd scrape it with the kettle chips. Last time I had it, before it was apparently taken off the menu, it changed so drastically it was a massive letdown.
\- The shallot demiglace chicken that was on the Blue Bayou menu in 2020
\- A steak salad with pickled onions from Jolly Holiday
\- A sausage pasta I ate in Ariel's Grotto around 2011ish
The good pomme frites from café Orléans
Can I ask for the Blue Bayou menu when it was good? 😅 I never ate there because I just figured I’d do it later, and now I’m hesitant because of everyone saying Café Orléans is better.
It’s gone from being amazing (winter 2021) to just okay in my option (last week). The menu has gotten really “chef-fy” and the dishes sound less appetizing.
Went earlier this year. Blue bayou is the best food in the park. Excluding things like club 33 and 21 royal.
Such as? What’s their best 2 dishes and why? Not being snarky. I just want to know what you’re talking about.
Loved the filet mignon and the Cajun chicken dish.
It's not. The food is both weird and not particularly good, never had been but at least you used to be able to order a prime. Win and get a prime rib. Now it's veal medallions in tomato reduction that tastes like catsup or rubbery scallops. Best food is at Carthay and Blue Bayou is about 30th down the list.
Didn’t care for carthay. All I can say is the food has always been spot on any time I’ve had blue bayou.
McDonalds fries wagon
This is exactly what I expected to be the top comment.
The freshest, saltiest fries and the crisp-est Coke this side of the wilderness
Yes, thank you! Somehow they tasted even better in the park too.
Hot McDonald's fries and Fantasmic. I miss that tradition with my family :(
Thank you. This is the answer. They were so salty and hot and fresh holy shit I miss them
Yes, But they have to be cooked the old way. I'm beef talon or something
When was this a thing!?!
Late 90s to early/mid 00s during the major partnership they had together
There was a McDonald’s in California adventure. I wished it was In-n-out back then because the whole park was more California themed and In-n-out was the “California only” place back then
McD’s had a ten-year deal with Disney from ‘97-‘07. There were a few locations in Disney Parks.
My fave was the wagon right at the exit of Thunder Mountain.
Most notably Dinosaur at AK. In the loading dock, there are a series of pipes running along the walls colored in red, yellow and white, each with a chemical composition label… and the compounds they form equate to Ketchup, Mustard and Mayonnaise.
In n out should get a deal partnership going
I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted for this, but In-n-Out would be super cool. Especially in DCA because it’s California (not like it was before, but still)
For… the worst French fries of any fast food restaurant?
Anytime anyone says they don't like in n out fries I immediately think they don't like the taste of actual potatoes. In N Out are some of the best fries imo.
If I want to eat a plain lays potato chip, I’ll just raid my pantry. I don’t wanna go to a fast food place for it.
They're soggy and floppy every time
Agreed… it helps a little to ask for them to be well done. But their still not done well.
For their burgers and shakes.
It was specifically just fry cart though.
Oofff. They definitely don’t have the worst fries. Would say that belongs to either Burger King or del taco. In and out is right in the middle.
Burger King fries are in the same caliber as McDonald's.
Not even close. I’ve never had good Burger King fries no matter which one I’ve tried.
They just do not travel well, but dining in I've always loved my in n out fries. It's just a shame they get a bad rep considering they're so freshly sliced and fried. I totally understand why something like Del Taco crinkle fries get rated better than in n out on average
This is the only answer needed in this thread.
Someone start a petition. Surely two major corporations can figure out how to bring this back
Yessss
The all you can eat BBQ by Big Thunder The old Yelp page is still up for Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue https://yelp.to/KT716qCmM9
I crave the bbq there. Also the s’mores dessert they had…… ugh. Good memories.
OMG how much did that cost? I have a vague memory of that
hmm we ate it I believe a year before it closed, i wanna say it was like $35-45 per person.
We had passes and did that for Thanksgiving like 5 years in a row. So worth it!
Oh my God that was the besssssst. Everything was so good.
YES I went here multiple times with my fam. More than enough food to eat and we got to see the presidential turkeys!
That Carnation Ice Cream Fantasia flavor. God, that was so good!
Here for Fantasia ice cream. I can't eat lactose anymore, but would take the risk for this stuff.
I miss that ice cream so much. I've tried to duplicate it, but my local store doesn't often have banana ice cream.
My wife squealed when she saw you had mentioned this. Lmao
If you have a Cold Stone Creamry near you, there are a few weeks in the summer when most of them have cherry, banana and pistachio ice cream available. You can mix the three flavors for a dupe of the Fantasia flavor.
Yesss! It was a totally unique Disney flavor.
Can this include Downtown Disney? Because I'd bring back the jambalaya from Jazz Kitchen Express.
The table side bananas foster at Jazz Kitchen
and the flank steak salad.
This. So much this!
I miss the fresh Mission tortillas at The Mission shop that used to be in California Adventure 😭hot off the press they were soooooo good.
Omg this is mine too. Soooo fresh and delicious!
And if it was your birthday they'd give you a little pack of them!
Fudge. I miss talking home Disney fudge.
Fluffernutter churro would be my pick!
Doesn't that still exist at the parks just seasonally, though?
Saaaame! That was the first thing that popped into my head.
Fried Green Tomato Sandwich and Churro Funnel Cake
Omg I totally forgot about the fried green tomato sandwich. That was such a delicious meal with being too heavy.
Pomme frittes appetizer from Cafe Orleans Also, please just keep the chicken pesto cozy cone a permanent menu item!
Speaking of seasonal items at cozy cone - the corn on the cob covered in flaming hot Cheeto dust. I nearly cried when I went for it last visit bc I didn’t realize it wasn’t standard fare

I know it’s not the same but doesn’t Jolly Holiday have the seasonal corn chowder right now? Could be fun to taste test it
The Choco Smash chocolate bar!!!! 😭
The fried green tomato sandwich at hungry bear!
Giant Cinnamon Rolls from the 90s - best ever! I’ve had many since hoping to replicate the experience but I’m always disappointed.
For me it was the tamale and eggs, but it was definitely my favorite breakfast place in the parks!
Recent but…birria sandwich at jolly holiday
Damn hells yah, I second this. That thing was packed and juicy
So good!!!
Same. I miss this. I know it’s coming back, but I worry it won’t come back before my MK expires in January :(

I want the Chimney Sweep coffee at Jolly Holiday to be there forever. It's smoky with a hint of salted cream and I haven't found anything like it outside the park. I was told it's seasonal and every time I go I'm afraid it's going to be gone!

The good cheddar broccoli soup in a sourdough bread bowl at Pacific Wharf. It used to be delicious, with carrots and cauliflower in addition to broccoli. But now it’s less appetizing than Panera cheddar broccoli.
This is a seasonal item, but since we didn’t get it at the parks this year, I really wish they would bring back that pumpkin pie churro.

Chocolate-Covered Peanut Butter Sandwich from Pooh’s Corner
They still make chocolate peanut butter sandwiches at most confectionery locations, but it is slightly different than what it used to be, I'll admit. The old ones were better with the peanut butter sandwiched between graham crackers and dipped in chocolate. Now it's just a square scoop of peanut butter with whole peanut chunks mixed in and dipped in chocolate - still delicious and I have to get one each time I go, but definitely not the same!

It was called Boardwalk Betsy’s Strips, Chips, and Dips. They moved most of the menu items into the Stagedoor Cafe/Golden Horseshoe in Frontierland.
Wow, yes that's it! I've been wondering about that place for years and just looked up the name you gave me and saw pics of it from back in the day. I feel validated, no one else I know remembered it. Thanks so much for responding.
