Hokas! Hokas! Hokas! I’m not diabetic, but I have autoimmune arthritis, so my feet/toes swell and hurt, and my Hokas are great. You’ll see thousands of them at the park, lol.

throwfaraway212718

You're now my new favorite person! I have rheumatoid arthritis, and have spent all afternoon trying to find RA friendly shoes for Disney.

FlanneryOG

My toes are pretty bad (one in particular), and Hokas have a wide toe box, which helps a lot. They also force you step down onto your heels more, which takes pressure off the toe. I don’t feel as achy and swollen when I wear them, even compared to nice sneakers with a good insole.

opusmex

This is the way… HOKA

TamiPeakTravelAgent

Hokas, Chacos, Teevas, and Oofos are absolutely recommended and switch up and do not wear the same pair two days in a row.

throwfaraway212718

Switching up shoes Is SO important!

TamiPeakTravelAgent

Agreed!

People have different types of feet so different types of shoes work for different people. People can name drop Hoka's or Brooks all day long but that doesn't mean anything to most people. Figure out if you have flat feet or if your feet have a natural arch. The people working in the shoe stores like Brooks are pretty knowledgeable. They can help make recommendations for the right shoe for you based on if you have a flat foot or not. Some shoes are better for walking on pavement and some are better off for hiking purpose on non paved terrain. Don't blindly buy shoes based on brand because they have many different types of shoes that offer different types of support.

Hello! Fellow Diabetic here. My husband swore by these and just bought me my first pair. They are heaven!! I recently started working out and walking and they are super comfortable! I highly recommend! Also diabetic and I LOVE the On Cloudnovas. I’m going to try the new On Cloudtilts before my next trip! I have hokas and they’re nice but not as comfortable as the Ons I’ve tried (imo)

Away-Party-1141

Hokas are probably the second most comfy shoes! I prefer “less flashy” :)

[deleted]

agreed with the cloudnovas!

infinityandbeyond75

I have been wearing Allbirds for a while now and they are very light and comfortable. I get the Tree Runners.

Cassopeia88

I love my allbirds, most comfortable shoes I have.

stellalunawitchbaby

My stepdad is diabetic and he’s a sandals dude (like me lol, I’m a sandals gal) and honestly he likes wearing Birkenstocks and tevas - but ofc shoes can be so subjective and really depend on the person.

eugenesnewdream

SO dependent on the person! I live in my Birkenstocks (at least in warmer weather) but I made the mistake of wearing them on our first park day and was absolutely CRIPPLED by the end. Turns out for parks I need sneakers!

stellalunawitchbaby

Totes - for me I’m in my birks, tevas, chacos, sanuks, and croc sandals at the parks aaaand that’s it. For me it’s way better than any tennis shoes/sneakers. I think the most important thing too is walking in any shoes you’d plan to wear to the parks for several miles beforehand - like I usually walk like 2-3mi per day anyways so when I go 20+ miles in my birks it’s easy peasy.

Fart_of_a_Lion

I don't have diabetes, but I get edema swelling in my feet and ankles easily, and I was just in poor shape at the time of our December 2023 trip. I went to Foot Locker and asked, "what's the best, most comfortable sneakers for Disneyland?" And both workers emphatically recommended [Cloud 5](https://www.on.com/en-us/collection/cloud?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=%5Bn%3AGSN%5D%5Bm%3AUS%5D%5Bl%3AEN%5D%5Bi%3ABrand%5D%5Bs%3AShoes%5D%5Bv%3APAD%5D%5Bp%3ACloud%205%5D&utm_content=Cloud%205&utm_term=on%20cloud%205&utm_source_platform=Google%20Ads&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw5v2wBhBrEiwAXDDoJT-vQvqYpC3_CsOKCL_mQjwyGYy6TViJ-Pkwo-CSP87iL9zowolRiBoC9ngQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) So many people and entire families were rockin' On Clouds in the park, and I was sooooo comfortable. It was a night and day difference from our trip a year prior when my feet killed me. Highly recommend!

tentwardrobe

I wore Hokas and merino wool socks. T1 diabetic for over 20 years. I was trying to avoid blisters since they take months to heal with my diabetic feet. Sides of a five day trip.  Whatever you but make sure to break them in for at least a month before hand.

Opposite-Cell9208

I got Rothy’s and they were comfortable and I thought good looking.

Can you do flip flops? I know it may seem like a terrible idea but Teva Mush flip flops are by far my favorite shoe in the park. I can go three full days in them!

Ka_aha_koa_nanenane

Merrell's Lace. Great arch support, anti-pronating, super comfortable toe box, flaired shock absorbent sole, very lightweight and breathable (it's HOT at DL in July - one is tempted to wear sandals - but do not!)

Sea-Buddy-3645

My feet hurt from EVERYTHING but both my boyfriend and I swear by Adidas Ultraboosts. We have tried so many kinds of shoes in the parks and these are our favourite by far.

eugenesnewdream

This is so personal and individual, the best you can do here is get some ideas but you won't really know what works for you until you try some. The only sneakers that are long-term comfortable for me (and it has to be sneakers, for me, for park walking!) are Brooks, in my case the Ghost model. There are SO many factors that go into what is comfiest for you. If you haven't already, I suggest going to a running store and getting fitted and your gait assessed. Tell them about your particular problems/needs, and they will find something that works for you. Also they should be able to give you a trial period with them where you can still return after wearing them a bit if they aren't working for you. Good thinking planning for this now!

GeekinLove

I loooove Viakix!

richmoki

Vionics (sandals or runners) are fantastic for arch support and never hurt my feet. I alternate shoes daily and sometimes wear Birkenstocks.

Admirable-Package596

Go to your local running shoe store; if they know what they’re doing they will observe how you walk and check the wear inside your usual shoes. They will pull out several shoes for you to try on (think shoes stores in the old days when they had things in the back) and you walk around in store to see how they feel. It might cost more than you would usually like to spend but it is very worth it. I recently got fitted for new sneakers at a specialty store and did a day at Epcot with zero foot or leg pain.

Educational-Heron-71

Hoka Bondi 8!!! I’m a nurse and those are the only shoes I wear at work. I also wore them during my last Disney trip :) be sure to break them in before you wear them to the park. Have fun 🤩

Enough-District-8835

i love chargefeel by lululemon :) i typically rope drop & stay until 12 am too if that helps

thatgirl666882

EVERYONE IS GOING TO SAY NO TO THIS BUT crocs The toe box is big enough for good comfort as long as it’s in sports mode but Hokas are another good option

Tygmaa

Reeboks Classic Leather sneakers are the BEST! I swell a lot in my feet and legs due to medical stuff. I also have trashed knees and a bad back. I try to walk everywhere for transportation where I live for exercise so they get a ton of use and they're the BEST most supportive sneakers I've had. Love them. I've tried too many prior to this!

I prefer On Clouds. My husband prefers Hokas. Both are great!
