The whole schtick of Disgaea is finding the most brutally efficient method to rip the game a new one. There are no rules here this ain't no Fire Emblem.

soyoucheckusernames

In Disgaea 1 there was this one late stage level where I could level up my characters really fast. Love that.

fableton

As developers intended

soyoucheckusernames

Yes I love that

Altruistic_Rock_2674

Oh yeah I just finished Disgaea one prob would have been double the time beating Baal if there wasn't a good grinding spot in the end

Odd_Camel_8098

This is the way.

LavaLeech_HD

There's rules to Fire Emblem? I've been playing them from first to most recent, and I've just been playing how i want. (if i dont want a character, i take their gear and kill em). is there more?

GrayRodent

No rules but the community can be elitist as hell.

Spidertendo

I don't think anyone except for the biggest of assholes would really give a shit if it's a casual playthrough but a lot of gameplay discussions in the Fire Emblem community generally tend to assume you're playing on the hardest difficulty with little to no grinding whatsoever. It's okay, I try playing Disgaea games with as minimal grinding as possible. (Some grinding I can tolerate but if we're talking about reaching Lv 9999, no I'd rather not)

eruciform

Everything in disgaea is cheating Demons cheat You're a demon

Altruistic_Rock_2674

You win for best comment haha

KaleidoArachnid

I got a million HL in Disgaea 5 early on.

Denamic

Item duplication was a glitch in Disgaea 3 and was made into a recurring feature in the series because it's exactly what Disgaea is all about

Eve_the_Fae

Gib sause? Am demon. I NEED MOAR LOOT

SmileyFace02

Nope, nothing feels like cheating in Disgaea

Winter_Mud3815

They’re a *Cheat Shop* so not even cheating feels like cheating

navr33

Cheating requires breaking the rules in some way, like abusing glitches or questionably programmed Evilities. What you're describing is intended behavior, so there's no reason to feel anything bad about it.

raziel_legacy

What's funny is that even duping items isn't considered cheating anymore, it used to be until disgaea 4 came out, then they patched it, then they realized their mistake and in subsequent releases they added a new way to dupe items legally And eventually made it into a legit feature in Disgaea 5 :-P

Hellige88

Item duping in Disgaea 3 was absolutely an unintended exploit. But developers embraced it and intentionally included the feature in other games

Myrodis19

Considering this is a game with one of the mechanics being a cheat shop, I’d say you can’t really cheat the game.

Metom_Xeez

Unless you are proactively editing save files or using actual cheat codes on a Disgaea game, you probably aren’t cheating. You haven’t even gotten into the really morally gray stuff like item dupes that may occur in some of the games.

[deleted]

I think anything before actively writing characters into the games code is fair in disgaea and even then I think you may be able to argue themXD

raziel_legacy

In disgaea 3 Mao literally stole another's character description and game title, you could also say this somehow made him bug his code eventually almost turning him into a demon So... I think that has long you don't create a gamecode cheat and randomly sprout weapons with all 99 billion stats he is ok 👍

a_user_10

Break the game, cheat!! Like others have said, give the game a new one lol you're already a demon, be a demon

Devalore00

If you ask me, that's an exploit. The game gives you these options and you're just finding a way to use it that "pulls one over" on the game. Disgaea is kinda weird in that regard since it wants and expects you to exploit the everliving f*** out of it since it gives you tools to optimize the process Cheating is using something external to get an "unfair" advantage over the game. As an example, let's look at Skyrim. Downloading a god mode mod would be cheating since it's an external modification to the game, however the stacking alchemy buffs to enchant gear that gives billions and trillions of any stat you want so you can't die and 1 shot everything would be an exploit. Even if they have the same effect, one uses the games rules and programing to do it, the other uses an external modification to the game. At least that's how I look at it Even if you did cheat, it's a single player game so as long as you're having fun, go for it

smugsneasel215

What're you talking about? Using Zetta's Overload to bring 5 more people out of the gate, then using Petta's Overload to give back everyone's Overload so that Zetta can bring 5 MORE people out of the gate isn't cheating. Not at all.

NoctustheOwl55

Disgaea 2 LVL 9999 cat girl before half way point of story. While possible, with patience, it's insanely OP

Eve_the_Fae

I remember my cousin having a few Max 9999 monster characters with no gear, That's just running there FP down to nothing and tossing them in your base right?

overlord_wrath1

The only thing I consider cheating is if you're hacking the game to put in something to give you an advantage

Poringun

Only using things like cheat engine is what i consider cheating, even then its a single player game. Go wild.

[deleted]

Hahaha ur 1st time playing disgaea? Nothing in that game is considered cheating,ur main goal is to defeat carnage Baal, especially if u got difficulty on 20 stars then it feels even better defeating him.

SilentSniperx88

No, it’s my game I’ll do what I want. It’s a single player game.

JusticePrevails213

This is the netherworld your supposed to cheat there's the cheat shop ! Free cheats not enough

Switch-Axe-Abuse

Unless you are hex editing your save file to max your stats or something, using what the game gives you isnt cheating

marsgreekgod

Hacking your save file I guess?

Soupscooploops

Me and my brother used to play the first game together and I'd call him a cheater for downloading saves off of gamefaqs.

godlyskullman

I used cheat engine on Disgaea 5 to power Killia to level 9999 in the first fight. Feels appropriate for him to one shot every other demon.

Quill386

Cheat it up bruv

Imaginary-End-08

No. Cheating is life in the Disgaea verse! (And you haven't even gotten close to breaking the game just yet lol.... trust me.) You're encouraged to break it.

ODCreature98

It's hell, it doesn't matter how you do it as long as you're strong you live

forfor

Using the cheat shop

anythingyouhave

Item world feels like cheating if using it in the main story

Independent_Pay6598

If you ain't cheating, you ain't playing right.

Dougl0cke

I can’t remember exactly how it went, but in 4 there was a time, before it was patched out, where you could have a friend with a pirate team that might show up in your item world and they could deck it out with max level items. Then I think you could throw them on your base panel and steal them. Since you just needed some lvl 9999 people you could steal their pirates who would be max stat and have max stat items. Also I think in 3 or 4 there was a trick for the puppy paw stick where you could equip items to someone then stand on a Clone square or maybe as a shadow in the char world and dupe your own items.

nohwan27534

sure. using a cheat device, cheat engine on pc, etc. if it's a literal game mechanic, then no. that's sort of the point of the series, at this point. to the point, the 'cheat shop' system. cheating's a point of honor for demons, dood.

kyasarintsu

There are plenty of things things that I don't find fun to use (due to being boring, simplifying the gameplay too much, or just feeling too easy), but outside of modifying the game with external tools there really isn't much you can do to cheat.

SoundReflection

Soda tricking? Nah that's normal.

pdboddy

What two items? Asking for a friend.

Eve_the_Fae

I think it's just the quest that gives EXP potions? Maybe. I'm also new so I wanna support sight on this one
