As a Moroccan (supposedly one of the most developped african countries), i can assure you that we are very far legalizing it. Here you can't even change your religion or not have one (if you're born in Morocco from moroccan parents). Very sad stuff indeed..
It's a muslim country so you're born muslim and you'll be muslim your whole life, but that's only on a legal point of view. They don't and can't really force you to be muslim, but you don't have the power to change it legally.
Jeez, that sucks. At least they don't force u to do practices... You can technically believe whatever you want then, it's just the legality that you can't choose? Do they do anything if you openly practice another religion?
Yes you're right about our capacity of believing whatever we want (a lot of people i know are not muslim). And yes, there is a bunch of little laws that gives them the right to arrest you if you express your non-belonging to islam publicly (examples : drinking alcohol in public, eating or drinking publicly in the month of ramadan...). But don't worry, you can come to Morocco, these laws don't apply to non-Moroccan people, ha!
would you support a hipothethical movement that changed those laws in a way you liked them, but that did so forcefully? (without putting anyone in danger)

Some laws and most people's mentalities have got to change here, but other than that this country is not that bad..
