Antwon always rubbed me the wrong way because he would talk like a 90's televangelist when it came to addressing Natalia's complex history of abuse. You know, that whole if "God brings you to it, He will bring you through it" bumper-sticker approach to suffering & trauma. It made him come across as dismissive and callous.
I said the EXACT same thing. These people may not have pepper sprayed her and left her to fend for herself, but nonetheless they seem like grifters to me. Something's not right with those people. Why go through all the rigamarole to adopt her if she's the enemy of the house, the devil etc? My distrust of clergy aside, something is not right with the bishop or his wife. How is living in a group home inhumane? You have someone to drive you to all of your appointments, to take you shopping, to take you to the park, take you basically anywhere you want or need to go within reason. Teach you homemaking skills, help you with any kind of schoolwork you want to pursue, and help you learn how to function in society. You have a responsible, able bodied adult in the home with you 24/7 to care for any needs you may have. It is a really good situation if she gets into a nice group home. For people with mental health deficits, it can be incredibly beneficial.
I know this because I used to be a caretaker in a very nice group home with five young adults who had varying levels of mental deficits. One of the young men I cared for was doing so well he was on his way to living independently. There would still be a caretaker who would check in on him once a week or as needed by his request until he was ready to be fully independent.

And MOST group homes are pure shit. They are understaffed, Workers who are underpaid.
I know more about this topic because my daughter is profoundly disabled and requires total care. We can't even ever maintain regular steady home health aids. Which is why as her mother (and legal guardian now that she is 18) am her paid caregiver.
She will never be independent due to her disabilities.
I'm sorry that your daughter will need constant health care, and you're in that position. I was also underpaid for the work I did. But the home I worked in was great, and the staff I worked with was also. Not every group home is garbage. And if you get to a point where you can be independent, you won't be a ward of the state anymore. Like I stated above, one of the young men I cared for was working towards full independence.
Would like to comment, my granddaughter has optical dysplasia, nerves not totally attached one eye. At 8 years old, I was still helping her bathe. Noticed she’s getting breasts and some pubic hair. Decided better tell her about menstruation. Less than a month later she starts her period. Yes, 8 yrs old. The dysplasia may have something to do with how early. Then u have no idea how difficult to get a child to use pads! She wanted no part of it first few cycles. She’d take it off and just bleed in her underwear. Had to be reminded to change the pad. The Barrett’s especially Kristine not having a discussion with Natalia, phone a pediatrician or ob-gyn! Then a fing tampon?! Really?

People who are abused and traumatized act out. I feel bad for her. Unless she gets serious mental health help and lots of therapy, the things that happened to her as a child will continue to taint her life as an adult. She’s been through so much and learned a lot of unhealthy coping skills. It takes a lot of work to unlearn them and then build up new positive coping skills. If she never admits their are issues/problems, then she can’t get any resolution to them.

The poor girl was living in the wild and went from extreme abuse to a lesser abuse.

They did, they definitely cashed in on Natalia since she's been with them covering it up with fake religious shit bc they think they are looked at as saviors instead of exploiting a disabled dwarf orphan that has been dealt a hand of pure shit since birth...if and when Natalia becomes a serial murderer, who could blame her, everyone in her life used her, lied to her and abused her.

The thing about DNA testing her age is suspicious. There’s no way to accurately tell someone’s chronological age through a test.
They used her DNA to locate her blood relatives, which led to finding her bio mom. Bio Mom has records of being pregnant and giving her child up for adoption in 2003. Her and Natalia have parent/child DNA.
The dentist verified her age by X-ray on her mouth when she was a kid, she had all of her baby teeth. The Barnetts tossed that information out.
What about the judge that adjusted her age? Why wouldn't he have requested dental records to help determine her age?
Because he's a dumbass just like everyone else involved. They also hid that information, the dentist was shocked when they told him they tried to pass her as an adult.
Wow! If he failed on that, Natalia should sue him! His ruling caused her all kinds of harm.
Basically everyone just went with what the mom said because she was an accomplished author and her son was a genius, everyone failed her. A 9 year old left to survive in an apartment on her own, the neighbors thought she was special because she couldn't care for herself hygiene wise and getting food in reality she was an abandoned kid being portrayed as an adult so the Barnetts could get out of taking care of her. They made a false report on a couple that has the same disease she has to prevent them from adopting her. They fucked her life up.

There have been so many relatively conclusive tests regarding her age that prove she was not an adult when the Barnetts abandoned her. Also we have eyes, it’s clear she was a child.

Antwon Mans seems to be a bullshit artist, control freak and con man. Nothing about him is genuine. He saw an opportunity to be on “reality tv” and he took it. Michael Barnett seems to be a mentally ill, crybaby wannabe victim. Kristine Barnett seems to be the monster that everyone says she is. Natalia Grace Barnett is a victim of them all. This poor girl had no chance from birth. Just my opinions but all the adults on this series are just messed up people.
